Golden Tulip Stonetown Boutique

I have been a daily customer at Golden Tulip stone Towns restaurant for the past four years since 2021 but since November 2025, the service has plummeted to an unacceptable level. What was once my go-to spot for lunch and dinner has become a source of constant frustration. On numerous occasions, I have arrived to collect an order placed an hour prior , only to be told they "forgot" or "didn't know" about it.For two months straight every second day I received the wrong order and no change and no receipt . Blatant Dishonesty: Today, I was told the kitchen couldn't cook due to no electricity an hour after placing my order . This was clearly a lie; I live next door on the same power line (where the power was on all day), the restaurant’s music was playing loudly, and the hotel has a generator regardless. ON Tuesday I got told they busy so they forgot and yet restaurant was empty. They have repeatedly given me the wrong order or, more dangerously, added ingredients not listed on the menu that I am allergic to. This is a severe health risk that they seem to take lightly. They have zero accountability, I have not received a single apology only excuses . In fact, my messages today to the F&B Manager were completely ignored. FOR a couple of MONTHS I KEPT QUIET BECAUSE IT IS COST ON THE HOTEL IF I RETURNED THE WRONG ORDERS OR DEMANDED MY MONEY BACK.. UNTiL recent. I spend approximately + - 800,000 shillings per month on lunch only (nearly 9 to 10 million annually) at this establishment ,prior i spent double for lunch and dinner making it 20million for the year (almost 8000 Usd). Yet, I am treated as if I am eating for free maybe it is because i am not a 1 night stay guest in the hotel only a restaurant guest , but an ongoing restaurant guest .There is no respect for my time, my money, or my safety. I transitioned from two meals a day to one, and as of today, I am stopping altogether. It is utterly sad to see a long-term relationship end this way due to sheer negligence and a lack of basic courtesy. I am totally appalled.

I stayed in this hotel room with my family and had a great experience. The room was clean, well-organized, and comfortable. It was suitable for a family stay, and we slept well throughout the night. The service was good, and the staff were welcoming.

The Receptionists welcomed us with smiles, everyone was welcoming. The food was great, a wide variety for breakfast including local dishes, Indian and other dishes which we tasted and they were great. The hotel is located in Stone Town, a neighborhood is full of history, markets with spices that are walk-able distances away. It has taxis in the front door to take you anywhere at affordable fee. The shores to Slave Island are just walk-able distance away. The ferry sounds can wake you up earlier, other than that everything was great.

The best thing about about Golden Tulip Stone Town hotel is staff. Without exception, they all went beyond the call of duty. From reception, restaurant, maids to swimming pool staff are efficient helpfull, polite and smiling. 😊

An amazingly great hotel, great location and the staff were amazing. The hotel manager Hasham is fabulous and very helpful, the hotel has all the amenities that any couple, family or organization requires. If you are thinking of going on Safari the location is great as it right by the ferry terminal as is the famous stone town sea wall. The breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety for all people. I love the fact that it was boutique as the staff knew everyone by name and felt I was receiving personal service which was really nice. The staff were always smiling and always ready to help the deputy manager even offered to bring something from home. But overall the manager is the key to this hotel as he really goes out of his way, loved the way he wrote hand written welcome letters for every visitor with some tasty welcome snacks. A must stay for every one fabulous hotel with swimming pool.

We had a nice food and everything was perfect; the view, quietness 👍, friendly staffs l. I really liked the place. I recommend the place if you need a nice Chinese/indian food

Very conveniently located hotel in beautiful Stone Town. Clean and well serviced. The staff are terrific. A great bargain. Will stay here again!

Really nice hotel with lovely staff who are very attentive and helpful. Gilbert and the team made us feel most welcome. It’s in a good location close to the sea front and shops and the rooms are very kept and spotless
