Google
This is the best Franconian restaurant in Nürnberg! We loved it so much that went twice! It is cozy and family run. Our waiter was super efficient and luckily for us, he spoke English.

We tried to reserve for 2 but were told to just walk. They were able to seat us between reservations but the meal felt rushed as a result. The food was tasty and portions generous.

When other restaurants were turning people with no reservations, this place was available with welcoming owners at the door! Many locals and tourist. Wonderful German cuisine and drink selection. Food was delicious!!

The sausages were good and the potato salad is to die for! I think they gave us too many sauces for the amount of sausages that we had, so I felt bad wasting that food.

Very delicious food and the service was excellent. Loved the staff. The decor was very nice and felt like home. The pork shoulder was tender and tasty while the bratwurst so soooo filled with great flavor. What a great first meal in Nuremberg.

Yelp
Excellent food! Excellent Location! Great German ambiance and friendly to Americans. I ordered 6 Nuremberg sausages and sauerkraut that was five star delicious. Friendly and courteous staff. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful, from the front entrance to the photos on the walls made for an interesting evening. Patrons and myself self left looking at the memorabilia as we stepped through the building.

Yelp
We had a reservation here during the Christkindlmarkt for dinner. We were seated in a cute room in the back that was quiet and had a nice atmosphere. The food arrived quickly in spite of the fact that they were very busy. My husband and I shared the duck (Ente) and the Zander filet. Both were good but I thought the duck was more flavorful. The Blaukraut and Klöße that were included were very good. They do have an English menu though it isn't exactly the same as the German menu. For example, the German menu had either 1/4 or 1/2 duck but the English menu only had the 1/2 duck.

Yelp
You are in Nürnberg. There is one dish to order, bratwurst. Do yourself a favor do not read reviews by ugly typical Americans. If you know anything about Europe, this restaurant will be fine. Stop being a bratty tourist (other reviewer-yikes.) The food is traditional, and this is the only "Wirtshaus" that serves the PGI protected 'Nürnberg bratwurst' grilled over an open Beechwood fire. It's delightful. Top 10 meals in Franconia/Bavaria. The tower and two glasses of wine was the perfect end to a day.

Yelp
stopped here because we wanted to try some actual German food . we succeeded in getting that . interesting when you get there they put a basket or two of big pretzels on the table and if you take one and then they charge you a 1.10 euro each. The food was pretty good, you know German food isn't the best food to begin with and I feel like they did a pretty good job of preparing. The interior is all wood and is very nice. Outside of the building is also quite nice, everything was clean it was very typical of a European German restaurant. We had schnitzel and it was pretty good, the pork knuckle not so much because it was boiled and not baked or fried so it was very Gelatinous. The biggest problem with this place is the service, it bordered on surly. Yeah I understand that Germans are often surly, but if you don't like your job get a different one. I don't think I saw anybody smiling when they were working. I guess that also has to be a consequence of working for a regular wage and not really working for tips. But everybody knows Americans leave good tips so you would think they would put on the good behavior for us, but actually I feel like we got the bad behavior because we are Americans. There were several tables of locals who clearly come there regularly and were treated very well and receive their food much faster and received services much faster than we did. I think it was 15 minutes before we got our first round of drinks. I know they don't care because we were tourists and we won't be back anyway but don't you know, there's this thing called Yelp. So if you're in traditional German dinner in a very pretty physical location this is a good choice. It's right in the historic district inside the walled city and close to many things that are nice to visit. Just don't expect to be on over and you will be fine. Yelp
A cute little two-story restaurant, authentic decor but not at all kitschy like some of the touristy places. The waitstaff spoke English, but we mostly spoke German (even though my German sucks, the waitress was a dear and let me practice). Oh, and she was stunning. Even my wife commented. Anyway... We had Bratwurstle. They are the teeny little sausages regional to Nürnberg, and should be eaten by the fistful. Indeed, the menu served them in 6, 8, 10, and 12 to a plate. I had 10 because I wanted to eat more later. The sides were blaukraut (amazing) and I had the liver dumpling soup appetizer. The liver dumpling soup (Leberknoedelsuppe) is worth its own paragraph. It was the second thing that was stunning at the Goldenes, the best Leberknoedelsuppe I've ever had. Now, be open minded. You say "Liver" and people think of Gramma's Liver and Onions that tastes like an old inner tube soaked in dead animal guts and cooked until dry as sawdust. This is not at all the case here. If you have a curious bone in your body, try the Leberknoedelsuppe. You will not be disappointed. Promise. If you try it and hate it, I will revise my review. So why only 4 stars? Because I noticed I was giving everything 5 stars. So this really is a 5 star review. I'm sure I could find something to not like. Overall, a wonderful restaurant with wonderful, simple Bavarian food. If you're a vegetarian, go to a different country. If you're a vegan; well, your life is its own punishment.

Yelp
This place is great! I had the pork shoulder, which was awesome. The place has been around for a long time. If you are in the area, this is one place you gotta try out. And try the pork shoulder... It's down the street from the Nuremberg Castle, which is very cool. 4 stars!

Yelp
We came as a group of two without a reservation at 7pm on a Sunday night and were lucky to be seated - place was packed! Groups after us were turned away if they didn't have a reservation. Very cozy on the inside (the smoky smell of sausages roasting is everywhere) and it seemed pretty local- mostly German was being spoken. The special of the day that we wanted, the rinderroulade, ran out at around noon, so we went for the duck with red cabbage and dumpling. It was delicious! However, it took forever for us to actually place our order (the waiter acknowledged that we wanted to order and yet didn't get back to us until 25 min later if not more) and the food was not that fast either. (Therefore it gets 4 stars and not 5). For the food you get, the price is very good though.

Yelp
Typical German food in a casual setting. Service was friendly and efficient. The prices are comparable to other restaurants of this type. The food was good. One disappointment: the German menu is different than the English. One example: there are a variety of wines listed on the German menu, while the English menu lists only "red," "white," and "rosé." If you didn't check the German menu, you'd never know you had options.

Yelp
If you want to have a high quality Franconian lunch or dinner in the city of Nuernberg close to the city center, that's the place to go to. The "Goldenes Posthorn" offers all typical Franconian dishes, like sausages, pig knuckle and roast. They have a variety of local beers on the menu. Perfect service and enough space for large groups makes this also a restaurant for official events.

Jun C.

Yelp
Very bad experience, we waited for very long time before the waiter served us. Without bread, the food was so so, very salty. And there is smell inside the restaurant.

Yelp
Tucked into a side street off the main square of the Altstadt, this very warm restaurant soothes the soul as well as the stomach. Very friendly service, menus in Englisch for those of us who require them, wonderful food, and to top it off, very fine Tucher bier. We stopped in here during a recent visit, ducking out of a cool rain, and our spirits were instantly warmed by the homely feel of the place. The Nurnburger sausages were delicious, as was everything else.

Thomas P.

Yelp
Came here the first time - hungry and looking for an outdoor seating place to eat. Quickly found one, the waitress came with the menus - as a starter there was a basket with pretzels and rolls already on the table! The offer the whole range of Tucher beer (local to Nuremberg) and franconian cuisine. So, with the roasted pork knuckle (schäuferle) one cannot go wrong, also the seasonal asparagus was very good, the sauce hollandaise had a nice kick to it. The menu is bilingual , the price decent. Would recommend!

Yelp
I love the Posthorn but I am taking my 25 guests to another restaurant tomorrow because my favorite Nuernberger restaurant has decided to remain in the 20th Century by refusing to take credit cards in payment. When i asked the restaurant i will attend whether they take credit cards, the reply assured me that of course good restaurants do that.

Yelp
I loved the service was friendly and the food was amazing. I had duck and beers. Price is very reasonable, definitely will come back :)

Yelp
Fantastic traditional German food. Ended up going there twice in three days! Highly recommended.

Yelp
TOURISTY BUT GOOD FOOD! it is quite pricey but then it is situated just off the haupt markt. the wines are very over priced.

Yelp
Great location near the Christkindlesmarkt and very good food. Spices in the sauerkraut make it much more flavorful, and there was a potato and cucumber side that was fantastic. Wiener schnitzel had a nice crispy coating.
