I recently booked a 2-night stay at the Golf Hotel René Capt, and it turned out to be a nightmare. Initially, I reserved a city-view room, but was informed by the front desk Celine that it is intolerably noisy due to the proximity to the train tracks. Seeking a more peaceful stay, I requested to see a lake-view room and personally prefer to not have carpet rooms due to allergies.
To my dismay, both rooms were filthy. I found hair in the bathtub, sink, couch, and on the pillows. This level of uncleanliness is simply unacceptable. When I reported these issues to the front desk, the employees, including two interns and a staff member named Celine Cengia, were visibly embarrassed and called the situation "disgusting." Celine contacted the manager, who was off that day, and he instructed her to offer us a free upgrade. However, an upgrade does not compensate for the revolting conditions, such as finding hair from previous guests on the pillows and sheets. The mere thought of sleeping in such a room was repulsive.
I then spoke directly with the manager (the following day), Georges Konstantinidis, who was astonishingly rude and dismissive. He blamed me for having high expectations and refused to issue a refund when I chose to leave due to the appalling state of the rooms. His behavior was not only unprofessional but downright insulting. He exhibited a complete lack of empathy or understanding and made me feel like I was in the wrong for expecting a clean room. His condescending attitude and refusal to address the problem seriously were shocking and deeply frustrating.
Despite my extensive experience staying in various accommodations ranging from 3-star to 5-star hotels, B&Bs, and guest houses, this hotel was by far the worst. The lack of basic hygiene and the manager's appalling attitude made it unbearable.
I am extremely disappointed with the handling of this situation and would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.
