As soon as I walked into this cafe I was greeted warmly and felt instantly part of this family. This is a really cheerful and relaxed space to sit with my amazing coffee made by Nikki …..love the coffee art. Definitely coming back for a hot lunch later today. Well done GOMA for providing such a wonderful experience. We came back for a super delicious lunch. Here are some pics to make you hungry 😋 we had the chilli prawns, the open grill sandwich and flatbread with trio dips. All portions were generous in size and really tasty. Not overly spicy 🌶️ which I was grateful. Perfect 👌

Stopped in here whilst visiting the Gallery of Modern Art. We enjoyed a winter vegetable soup, a bottle of water, and a beautifully made full cream cappuccino. The lady who looked aftee us and took our order was so friendly and made it a very pleasant experience. The Cafe is one floor up and looks over some gardens and the Brisbane river. This is a must stop if you are visiting and want a break, some delicious food, or a bottle of water. Thank you for the wonderful experience team 😀

Brilliant café in the heart of South Bank. Delicious, fresh menu, chilled drinks overlooking Brisbane River. The perfect pit stop after visiting GOMA. Attentive, unobtrusive service from Danny. We sat on a very sunny terrace with ice cold rosé!

GOMA Cafe has temporarily located to the GOMA Restaurant location opposite the entry. We have often stopped here for lunches, hard to imagine a better place in Brisbane to show off the city to visitors. Great location overlooking the river and Kurilpa Bridge. Huge shady roof over so OK for almost any weather, especially Brisbane sunny summer. Good food and coffee, a place to take visitors to Brisbane. Still one of our favourite places to sit and enjoy a morning coffee in Brissy.

Wonderful surprise. We did not expect to find excellent food in a Museum Bistro. The burger was good, but the roasted cauliflower and the baked brie in filo were divine! Add a nice glass of wine and enjoy the nice atmosphere. Pure bliss!

10/12/22 visit. Great location. Service is friendly, however I had to follow up on everything - from the food, temperature of the coffee and how it took 10 mins to get a damn slice of cake out from the display. The staff are friendly, but inattentive, and it’s honestly annoying. Bistro was at 30% capacity. Would hate to visit when it’s at full capacity. Food was passable, vego options are limited. The red velvet cake was for another diner in my party of 5. They advised it was pretty, but dry and disappointing. The orange almond was lacking in taste and texture as well. I would return if I was part of a group booking. Otherwise I’m happy to spend my money elsewhere. These guys need to lift their game.

Lovely location under the big trees with beautiful city and river views. Food was good. The roast chicken was delicious and moist but quite expensive for a self service bistro, especially when paying 15% public holiday surcharge and having to chase up orders. Service was friendly though chaotic eg constantly dropping cutleries and customers had to carry own drinks to the tables, including hot coffees.

Yelp
I was lucky to visit here on a quiet day, so it was really quite relaxed. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and the indoor section is air conditioned, but with the big windows, both options have a lovely view. Yep. It's expensive. That said, I don't think it's any more expensive than the rest of the precinct. I went with the waygu and chips. It was really quite nice, but certainly not amazing, but the serving was more than generous. Staff weren't unfriendly, more disinterested, but that's the snobby art gallery experience for you.

Yelp
Love this place. Fantastic service, great food. The burgers are a win and coffees are fab too. The menu gets updated frequently which is good. Sad that they got rid of breakfast as it was excellent and always busy. Having said that, the lunch menu is full of tasty options. I can't think of a more spectacular place to have a relaxing lunch by the river.

Yelp
After an inspiring walk around the Gallery of Modern Art's latest special exhibition of the drawings of Matisse, I was in desperate need of a pick-me-up before heading home. Not only that but my stomach had started grumbling, and when you are in a quiet room filled with art trying to be classy and sophisticated, your stomach grumbling loud enough for the guard to hear is just plain embarrassing. So after I had finished with the exhibition, I heading down to GOMA's Cafe Bistro on the river. This cafe is situated on the side of GOMA (easy to access if you walk around the outside from the main entrance). It is tucked away right on the river and is just serene. Unfortunately, the sky had decided to spit on us all day, but there was plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating to escape the rain. The staff here were very friendly and efficient and the table service excellent. My latte was great and just what I needed, while the scone with jam and cream hit the spot and stopped the grumbling beast in my belly. This cafe bistro is just a little bit fancy, tucked into GOMA but also successfully maintains a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you are in or around GOMA.

Yelp
I got there and it looked alright. Went inside to try and find a take away menu to sit down and decide but instead they have it on a massive chalk board inside... meaning you have to stand and decide what you want from the messy written and overpriced menu. Service was okay, ladies were nice. Received the food and it's dry, literally barely any sauce to had to ask for more. Had to stop eating because of how dry and not okay the food was. I've had better, definitely won't be coming back.

Yelp
Overpriced, uncomfortable, lack-lustre waste of space with awful service and a troupe of unorganized grumpy staff that collectively cast an ugly shadow of disappointment at the feet of the legendary GOMA. To think that people obliviously line up here to fork over extortionate amounts of money for something they could better produce at home or acquire at any other place in Brisbane for half the price is beyond me. The last time I came here (against my will) I even made a complaint, detailing how depressing my experience has been and I was met with a 'thats no good'... And that really sums it up actually, depressing and no good, no good at all!

Yelp
Its location right beside a bend in the river secures this cafe's place as owner of (almost) the most picturesque view in the city. Through gaps in the trees you can see the Brisbane skyline and the Kurilpa Bridge, while the foliage also manages to block the most unsightly parts of the view (most of the Riverside Expressway). The food is served in a canteen type setup, where patrons choose which dishes they want from the selection already on display. Obviously this means your food is not freshly prepared when you order but it also means no waiting time. I had a pumpkin salad, which cost around $16 and was so enormous that I couldn't finish it. I wouldn't say it's the most delicious thing I've ever eaten, but it was alright. They have lots of typical cafe food, most of which has a little extra quality, for example the meat pies contain actual strips of beef. It's a very casual setting, with tables and chairs scattered around the terrace area and Ibis' helping themselves to unattended leftovers.

Yelp
It was a Sunday afternoon. I was severely hung over, my bike had just been stolen and I'd just called my friend to meet me at GoMA because I needed cheering up. It was a day where walking over a kilometre for a decent coffee proved too much for me. We went to GoMA Cafe Bistro. It's situated underneath GoMA and faces the river. You can always trust that the Cafe Bistro will be filled with families and older folk enjoying some eats while on their outing. We were seated inside. There's modern orange 'industrial design' chairs about the place, and woven natural fibre lampshades hung from the ceiling. It's quietly 'arty'. I ordered a cappuccino and a bowl of greens. The service was a little slow, but admittedly, they were quite busy. Cafe Bistro is an alright place to come to, but it's nothing to write home about. It's good to hit up if you just need a pick me up (coffee hit) and get going. I wouldn't necessarily recommend dining there. You'd expect anything associated with GoMA to be inspired, but sadly, the Cafe Bistro fails in this aspect.

Yelp
I wish I liked the food at GOMA's Cafe Bistro, but unfortunately the three times I've eaten there it's been bad. It's expensive and tries to be trendy, but I think it's so overpriced for the glorified takeway fare that it is, I kick myself for going back. Bad callamari, average fish, really expensive pre-packed sandwiches and the last time I was there I couldn't bite the base of the vegetarian pizza I bought. Give me a nice picnic on the lawn near the river thanks (if only I wasn't so lazy!), or maybe I should save up and visit the uninspiringly named GOMA Restaurant with its crisp white cloths and sparkling glassware, at which I stared wistfully when we were leaving Valentino...

Yelp
They've made some changes recently and whilst the view of the river is still there, the menu has been boiled down to just a few items which do not stand out from your average cafe. Very disappointing, I used to go once a month or so but won't come back.

Yelp
Fav meeting spot for a midweek late breakfast/early lunch. The food is always delicious with a menu that changes each season, I find myself ensuring I return to try another yummy before the menu changes! Coffees are reliably good. The teas are teabag but ok. The Chai is surprisingly served without milk but good flavour, nonetheless. The service is friendly but not enthusiastic. Table service can be slow and the clearing of tables needs to be faster to avoid the egrets taking over. However I look forward to going there and have not been disappointed.

Yelp
A real plowman would be able to plow about 5 metres after eating the plowman's platter - ONE piece of toast, thimble-sized marmalade-like pickle, one small piece of cheese, and what looked like dog-roll with huge chunks of partly-cooked carrot in it - "terrine of whatnot" and a couple of wafers of pork - this plowman plowed his way through a whole bowl of chips straight afterward he was so hungry!!!! OVERPRICED AND LIMP
