The flavors reminded me of a department store cafeteria in Japan during the 1980s. While there’s some nostalgic charm in that, I was hoping for more subtle and balanced seasoning—this is Hawaii, after all. I believe that kind of flavor is possible even without raising costs. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend these menu items.

My first time here. We went for lunch before leaving Hawaii. One of the best choices inside the mall. They are located by the movie theater. Clean and organized. We ordered fried rice and tatsutaage. The food tasted good. The service was very good and the food came very fast. We liked the restaurant.

Google
The noodles are ok. I had this chicken ball special.

Google
Fast service and excellent food. The tan tan has excellent flavor. Try the spicy tan tan. Tonkatsu is crisp and tasty and lightly breaded. Tender and flavorful teriyaki chicken, not too sweet. Fish dumplings have excellent flavor and texture with no fishy smell.

For the mall, this place is a great stop. The service was good, the food was well done and the gyoza were very big compared to a lot of other places. Can be a bit pricey, but I would say it’s “average pricey” for Hawaii.

Great Brunch! Brunch menu all great! Clean! Nice service! Waffle+popcorn chicken : crispy waffle and crispy, moisture popcorn chicken Curry rice(chicken) : Japanese curry style. Balance good. Ginger was little salty.. Spicy bao(2pc) : moisture Pork belly with soft Bao. Come with spicy sweet sauce. Good match. No picture but soufflé pancake was really good too Coffee and Green tea was just ok....

Google
The vegetable cold noodle was very different from menu pictures. I expected too much. I should have gotten Chicken cold noodle which I always order. The Chashu bowl doesn’t taste anything. I want to try their breakfast 7:30-10:30 Japanese soufflé pancakes.

Yelp
Located by the movie theaters in Kahala Mall. Great spot to have lunch or dinner. U shaped seating area for individuals and table seating for 2 or more. They have a wide variety of flavor, proteins, broths and teas. The 2 gentleman workers kept up well with the lunch crowd that filled all of the tables. A safe, easy and tasty bet to fuel your shopping or working needs.

Yelp
Goma Tei is a fantastic spot for anyone craving delicious ramen on a budget. Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant exudes warmth and comfort, making it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and attentive service, which set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The staff's welcoming attitude made us feel right at home, and they were more than happy to help us navigate the menu and make recommendations. I decided to try the Shoyu Vegetable Ramen, and it was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced, while the fresh vegetables added a delightful crunch and freshness to every bite. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness. My friend ordered the Chicken Tan Tan Ramen (#2 Spicy) for her first-ever ramen experience, and it was a hit! The spicy, nutty broth had just the right amount of heat, complementing the tender chicken slices beautifully. She couldn't stop raving about it and has already planned her next visit to try more dishes. What truly sets Goma Tei apart is not just the incredible food but also the ambiance. The cozy interior, warm lighting, and subtle decor create a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. It's a place where you can sit back, savor your food, and forget about the hustle and bustle outside. Overall, Goma Tei is a gem for ramen lovers and newcomers alike. With its delicious, budget-friendly options, friendly staff, and inviting environment, it's a restaurant you'll want to keep coming back to. My friend and I left completely satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
This used to be one of my very favorites. Now it's just not! The number one issue is that tons of take out boxes are still lined up along the wall. During pandemic times, this was understandable, but not anymore! The owner needs to find a different storage solution. Perhaps at the owners home, or top rankings manager home . The boxes totally upset the ambiance. Thinking of fire hazards, bugs that love to make home in these boxes ect. The service was ok and timely. , but not very personable. Boring service. The food was just fine, but better in the past. The new plates and bowls are really ugly! The old ones were much classier! All these things make a difference. I don't want to return here for awhile. Oh, yes, the prices went much higher! $51 for two people and I don't feel happy. Eating out is to feel happy and great experience. We have spent less and had a much better experience at many other restaurants around town. Eating out is an experience of life. We used to highly recommend this place. No more recommendations from us. Bye bye.

Yelp
This place is located in the Kahala mall near the movie theater. It was my first time to try the won ton shoyu ramen. I would give it 3/5. The won ton was so so and it did not impress me much. My husband has his usual tan tan and he enjoyed it 4/5. I had taken one star off because the restaurant was not kept tidy. There's a lot of carton boxes which are prone to cockroaches and they're near the kitchen. I would rather not see those boxes around.

Yelp
Figured this is deserving of an update since I've been several times since my last visit, and happy to report this was a fan favorite. Love the convenience of getting here (easy parking), and that there is never a line, but wish the service was a bit more attentive. Highlights: * Curry rice * Spicy tonkatsu ramen (spice added) * Gyoza Lowlights: * Japanese wontons

Yelp
Goma Tei's food is consistently good, but it's getting expensive! $29 (incl tax/tip) for: Chicken Tatsutaage $10.5 Japanese Won Ton Soup $12.5 $42 (incl tax/tip) for: Gyoza $10.5 Char Siu Tan Tan Ramen $18.25 extra Choy Sum $2.5 Ajitama $2.25 Decent portions, so my justification for spending $42 on ramen and gyoza is at least I get a 2nd meal out of it! (set aside your take home portion before diving in) The servers are always attentive and atmosphere is clean and well lit. Tables open up quick at the Kahala location compared to longer wait times at the Pearlridge location. Can't leave without mentioning their dishes are loaded with msg. Eat there in moderation and when you do, drink lots of water!

Yelp
Bustling ramen spot in the Kahala Mall that is popular with families. Even though it was busy, we put our name on the list and got a table pretty quickly. Good sized portions and nice selection of ramens and other Japanese dishes. I enjoyed the tonkatsu curry I got and the portion was generous. Was pleased to get a homemade katsu sauce for my 'katsu on the side'. My companions got the tantan ramen and both cleaned their bowls, including the yummy broth.

Yelp
CODY visited the Kahala Mall location CODY ordered the Tantan Chicken Ramen CODY food was tasty, ample, with the right amount of spice heat CODY servers were friendly and speedy CODY dining area was clean, but cluttered CODY will return to order more food

Yelp
How do you ramen... This Gomatei in Kahala Mall located right beside the Consolidated Theater wing and though is always quite busy they always seem to have a place for you either at any one of ten four top tables or their super long counter that seems to seat a dozen on each side. Their menu is quite massive and seems to expand beyond the traditional Japanese bowl from Fish dumplings, Won Ton and even a Truffle Ramen! Tonight I'm trying something different, Hot & Sour Soup. As I was waiting for my food outside they were giving out free samples of their new menu item "Rainbow Pickled Salad" and some drinks (milk tea, lemon iced tea or plantation tea) and a sweet young man asked if I'd like a free sample of the item offered and went outside to bring it to me which was so thoughtful and sweet, while the girl who brought out my ramen couldn't be more the opposite as I could barely hear her calling out my bowl and dropped it on the seat next to me which felt rude while another young man brought my gyoza right beside my bowl and was nice. The vibe is very cozy and welcoming with cute kids art drawings on the wall as I enjoyed my hot bowl of ramen which was yummy loved the thin noodles cooked perfectly the spicy sour soup really comfort my long work week and gave me that much needed energy. Gyoza is pan fried which I love and will have it only that way was a great two bite sized with lots of fillings. The comfort of ramen is the best and gomatei has the whole vibe and more. Thank you! Yummy

Yelp
This is my favorite ramen place on the island. The flavors are really distinct enough to make you remember "mmmm goma tei ". I come a few times a month and have never been disappointed with popcorn chicken, tan tan seafood ramen and the gyoza will rock your world. This is definitely a ramen place everyone should try at least once and you will come back

Yelp
Busy restaurant in Kahala Mall. Quick, efficient service. Japanese wanton soup had a nice miso flavor, ramen was good and curry rice was good.

Yelp
Movies and Ramen? Sounds like a great combination? Kahala Mall has it all. Dinner at Goma Tei Ramen Kahala and Consolidated Theater next door. We ordered Shredded pork & Szechuan Pickle Sunho with hot and sour soup (No. 18) , the Tan Tan Ramen (No. 1) and an order of gyoza. No. 18 was very spicy and vinegary tasting. If you like hot and sour soup, you can order this one. 3 out of 5 stars. No. 1 was too oily for my taste. The soup base was sesame oil based? The char siu pork slice was chewy and bland. 2 out of 5 stars. The gyoza was filled and cooked perfectly. 4 out of 5 stars. This was the best dish we ordered. Service was spotty. I needed to get the attention of multiple servers for water and later for the bill. I ended up having to walk into the back of the restaurant to pay the bill because every time I tried to get the attention of a server to pay the bill, it's like tunnel vision overcame each server. No one wanted our money lol. It didn't appear very busy. 3 out of 5 stars. The location or acoustics of this restaurant reverberated all sounds. It was very noisy here. 3 out of 5 stars.

Lauren R.

Yelp
No good anymore. Got the Char Siu shoyu Ramen, dryest charsiu ever. Everything bland. Broth was basically hot dish water. Meh service, a bit rude, whatever. Didn't dock points for service. Everything was mid to bad. If it was cheaper sure, but quality absolutely not worth.

Yelp
Super quick seating and service, a sure thing for consistently good ramen. Today they asked me three times if I wanted drink refills, way before I would have asked. So on top of things! The Sunho Ramen hits the spot, so I had to have it this second day in a row. Mmmm.. In the past I almost always had no bars and couldn't check work email, explore Yelp!, etc. but today internet access is fine. Excellent.

Yelp
Not my first choice but it does the job if your hungry and nearby. There was a hint of the taste you'd expect, but just a hint. I ordered the Truffle Ramen and side of Tonkatsu and both were ok. The egg in the ramen was a little undercooked for my liking but I'm guessing thats how they prefer to serve it. They sat us fairly quick and food came out in about 10 min, so a plus on that. Atmosphere was comfortable and well lit. Located across of the Kahala Theater.

Yelp
Work lunch Wednesday was brought to us by Goma tei ramen. We had it delivered through UberEats and it got to us slightly warm. I ordered the garlic tan tan with the seasoned egg. There were so many noodles that I could have made it into two meals. Consistent menu items and always good flavor. It is nice to also be able to have it ordered without leaving your house or workplace.

Yelp
When work tells me to work in Kahala for the day I say "say less," because I know just where I want to go for lunch. I remember my first time trying Goma Tei was the ramen shop in Pearlridge, and to see it thriving and still putting out great food for every visit year after year makes it my go-to when I'm in the area and I don't know what I want to eat. On the inside, Goma Tei looks consistently the same at all their locations. What I really love is that this is one of the only spots on island that have a high bar that easily accommodates those like me who dine alone during their lunch break. I don't know why, but dining at that bar is different, I've even dined there with a group of ten as well! Don't ask us how we did it, guess we just got lucky. On this day specifically, I decided to do take-out because I wanted to sick in the breakroom and eat to help train and be available if needed. Even when the food is take-out, it still tasted great! Suggestions I've tried many ramen whether they were tantan or shoyu. I'm no stranger to their temporary specials from their five levels of spicy to the truffle noodles they once served. I've tried them in rain or shine, counter or table, and dine-in or take-out. Every time, I can rely on Goma Tei to satisfy just what I'm looking for.

Yelp
Service at Goma Tei is consistently polite and prompt. Food is served super fast too! Today the hubs and I decided to have something different, so we asked our server to put in the kid's order first. Not long after she returned for our order, she served his noodles. Literally in minutes! We arrived before noon on a Saturday. Restaurant was fairly busy already but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Servers are efficient, they refill water cups promptly. Not much interaction required to be honest, so it's a good place for dates or family meals or when you're super hungry and/or don't have much time.

Yelp
Can't believe it was my first time to this very popular ramen restaurant located in my hood where folks of all ethnicities and ages are signed up on a wailist to go in. Luckily you can go shopping while you wait for your table. Unfortunately no buzzers or texting system so you have to estimate how long your wait will be. You can choose to sit at a very long counter , a table, or either My friend who eats here regularly got the shoyu tantan ramen. I got the fish dumplings with shoyu soup and noodles. The dumplings were filled with a mixture of sole and other goodies in a wrapper that was nice and not too thick. The noodles were just the right texture and the broth was flavorful. I was impressed with both the volume of customers as well as the food. Service was friendly and pretty efficient considering the customer to server ratio. No wonder it's always busy! They've got it going on!
google avatar

Yelp
Best curry in town, love the gyoza here too. We always get their ramen here , but this time I've decided to try the curry. Very very nice and friendly staff here too. We will be coming back.

Janey T.

Yelp
Unlike my experience at Goma Tei in Ala Moana, I had a great time! We were seated and given menus quickly which was nice because we were so hungry. I got the chicken cold noodle and my boyfriend got the ramen with katsu on the side. Our food came out quick and absolutely perfect! The restaurant was quite busy so we thought for sure we were going to have to wait a while for our food. I highly recommend going to this location and the Pearlridge one if you're craving Goma Tei!
google avatar

Yelp
The ramen is really good for its price--it's like finding a legendary chest in Fortnite! The broth was rich, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings were generous. The waitress was also incredibly nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Her friendly service added to the overall positive experience. Honestly, the ramen here is even better than Popeyes' ramen--if they had one! Plus, after the meal, my beer belly now smells like Nautica Voyage. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable ramen spot, Goma Tei is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Couldn't remember the name of this ramen place me and my husband went to last year in kahala mall but remembered where. So we went and it was Gomatei. We sat on a corner table the place was pretty empty. There were no menus on the table but no biggie they would just bring some. This female worker came up to us, she was really flustered and seemed like her anxiety was going up for some reason. She was freaking out saying the table we are sitting on was not cleaned, there were no menus placed on the table because it was never cleaned. She tossed a couple rolled up napkins and menus on a table next to the one we were on and was ranting about why would we sit on a table that wasn't cleaned. We had our baby in a big stroller, and we picked the corner to avoid blocking up any walk ways even tho the place was empty. Not that I had to explain why we chose to sit there. Anyway, my husband says oh it doesn't look dirty and not a big deal, you could even give me the rag and I'll wipe the table down. She was annoyed, didn't like his suggestions, continued mumbling under her breath. She took long to take our order. I asked for curry rice but with fried rice, she said they don't do that. I told her yes they do because last year when I came, that's what I ate. She said they have a coke bento I can take home and heat. I told her no I don't want that, we were eating there and I ate that last time. My husband said cant you just charge extra for the fried rice or something? She said oh yes, yes we can but it's so expensive. It's 5.99 more for fried rice. He said that's fine. That's what I wanted. And the lady walked away. We ordered our food cause we had places to be and ate our food. She did not check on us once. We grabbed our own napkins and cutlery off the table next to us. She made me feel really uncomfortable and not welcome. This location just like pearlridge. Expensive, mediocre and weird staff. The male staff in there however were really kind and helpful. We will never come back again and if anyone asks about gomatei I'll guide them elsewhere.

Yelp
Here at Goma Tei for our noodle fix. Ordered Tan Tan and Shoyu Won Ton Ramen. Great food and very consistent in taste. Broth tasty and delicious. Service is good. Wait staff friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Quick service good ramen- soup base was very good! Located near the theater at Kahala mall parking can get difficult but once you're inside the mall it's very cool ! Their menu is simple and easy to read and someone is always ready to take your order Noodles floating a great broth and it's a quick and easy meal

Yelp
Shame on me ! I've been here several times for ramen here at Kahala Mall and have never reviewed it! 1000 Yelp lashes with a soba noodle! So this place has been here like forever, located at the theater end of Kahala Mall. There can a wait sometimes especially in the evenings at dinner time. Today was midweek at 12:30 and there was no wait. The ramen here is pretty good, not soggy and the tan tan broth is thick and flavorful. It does have a tiny bit of spice kick, a little less than a level 1 and it wasn't overly salty. I added a soft poached egg for an additional $2 and change. It made the broth even more creamier...yum! This place is always changing up the menu and I haven't been here in a long long while so when I saw ramen with FISH dumplings, I had to try it. They were pretty good! Softer than the usual pork stuffed ones, they were boiled not fried. I'd definitely get them again. My friend had the cold noodles with vegetables. They were plain thin noodles with steamed carrots, celery, and mushrooms. The sauce came on the side. I wasn't sure what kind of sauce it was. The servers were very nice and checked on us several times. Prices ranged from about $15 to $24, depending on how fancy the ingredients were ( looked like the truffle ramen was the most expensive dish on the menu) Thumbs up!

Yelp
Always one of my first places I stop at when I come back to Hawaii. This place is nostalgic to me and always brings back good memories of my hometown mall. Good food, good prices, and very consistent when it comes to the taste of their ramen and their service.

Kimo K.

Yelp
Foods good but service is bad, ive never actually had them answer a phone call to order its always busy signal (and when you get in to restaurant they arent on the phone the takeout worker just takes it off the hook) always have to go in and order if you have options id go elsewhere if you have time and wanna cruise the mall while you wait or somehow get a phone call through its good though *Edited* got home wrong items phone still offline so cant even call to let them know.
google avatar

Sandra C.

Yelp
Nothing like a bowl of your favorite soup and ramen noodles to hit the spot. Tan Tan Ramen with some veggies and char siu is comfort food at its best. This restaurant is always busy so we had to wait a bit, but the host was pleasant and service excellent.
google avatar

Lance W.

Yelp
Food was flavor and body. The curry was soup type. I would rather have the gravy sauce style. THICK! Even if the curry was broth or soup style, it was a good, strong curry flavor. The chili oil on the table is great . Wasn't expecting that bite on the first slurp. But afterwards, I loved it.

Yelp
Goma tei is a favorite of my grandfather's, especially on chilly Hawaii afternoons. He loves the curry udon, which is consistent and very filling! I always order tan tan ramen in various forms, and am never disappointed. Servers are efficient and very patient, despite there being a lunchtime rush. Much appreciated when navigating the grandparents!

Yelp
It has been a long time since I ate here. We were in the area and was hungry for dinner. It gets very busy during peak hours. Since it was just the two of us, we got seated in 5 minutes at the bar. Tonkatsu Tan Tan Ramen $15 - very flavorful bowl of ramen. Soup was thicker. The tonkatsu was good. It kind of submerged in the soup. Don't expect it to be crispy. I should have ordered it on the side. Love the noodles. Ban Ban ji chicken - my bf raves about it all the time. Cold chicken breast with sauce on top. It was ok for me. A bit dry. Service- maybe there's new people but this worker splashed water on me when he was cleaning up. Didn't even noticed. Need to work on service.

Wendy N.

Yelp
Decided on Goma Tei at Kahala mall again. I ordered the Tan Tan Mein and Charsiu Fried Rice. Unfortunately, I found the ramen flavorless. The Charsiu fried rice was served with a fresh egg and Charsiu to be mixed into the rice as you eat it. For both dishes, it was not what I would consider delicious. However, quite a number of people frequent the restaurant, so I'm assuming they must like it.
google avatar

Wakaba S.

Yelp
This place is right by the movie theater. I knew for the longest time but today was the first time finally got to go there. It is spacious and plenty of seats to accommodate many people. I ordered Chicken Shoyu Ramen. I liked the presentation, the amount of meat, and taste. The only complaint I had was it wasn't hot enough but just warm. The ramen should be served hot! I think the reason why was the meat was cold and that made the whole thing colder than it was supposed to be.

Yelp
Really only came here so the husband could have a beer after work. Service is rude! We ordered 2 beers, a soft drink, and some sides. Then we wanted to order a ramen to share. The lady with short hair is a total grouch and the other waiter with glasses and a mask on must be her son because they act the same. She didn't crack a smile the entire time. We asked the boy if we could order a ramen and his response was "you want to order a ramen now?" Then my husband ordered another beer and he said "what kind"? Rudely. We also asked the boy when we placed the ramen order that we wanted an extra bowl. Grouchy lady brings the ramen to our table and just drops it down (no extra bowl). So my husband asks for an extra bowl and she literally gave him the death stare. Like seriously wtf is her problem? This place is not even busy! There was one other boy waiter that is really nice and always smiling he makes up for the two rude grouches. Not going to come back to this place! I did snap photos of them but decided to spare them the embarrassment and not post the photos. But if anyone needs to see it let me know.

Yelp
My friend Drea and I decided to get dinner before a movie and since both Goma Tei Ramen and Kuru Kuru Sushi are right outside of the Kahala Mall Theaters, we figured we would take a look at which restaurant was the least crowded. Since Drea was also craving Goma Tei Ramen, it worked out that out of the two restaurants, Goma Tei Ramen was the least full, so we walked right in. I think I have tried Goma Tei Ramen at least once in my life thus far but I can't remember anything super memorable. So once we were seated and started browsing the menu, I was surprised to see that they had Hot & Sour Soup (Sunho) Ramen listed (#17 and #18 on the menu). Since I love Hot & Sour Soup, this option definitely piqued my interest but I wasn't sure which to try, so when the server stopped by to take our order, I asked what his recommendation was and he said #18, so that is what I went with. The wait time for both of our orders was relatively quick and by the time our bowls of ramen were delivered, we were definitely itching to dig in, so that is what we did. The #18 Shredded Pork & Szechuan Pickle Sunho was definitely more than I had anticipated it would be. It literally tastes exactly like a proper Hot & Sour Soup and the Szechuan Pickles add an extra kick of salty, sour, crunchiness. Since I also added in two Ajitama eggs, the yolks paired perfectly with the spicy broth. I will say that I did miss having Wood Ear Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots in the soup but I would still order this again if I ever stop by. While I cannot remember what ramen Drea ordered, she too also enjoyed her ramen and added some extra spice as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend Goma Tei Ramen if you are ever at Kahala Mall or even just in the area. It is a perfect meal if you want something warm and comforting and their menu has a diverse range of different ramen and side dishes to add to your order.

Yelp
I'm giving this 3 stars because it is solid and relatable but not great. What particularly bothers me is the decor. One entire wall is just stacked with boxes - so ugly! Also it took forever for someone to seat us even though there were 2 empty tables and seats at the bar. Also, I never got the hot tea I ordered. On the plus side, I really like their tan tan ramen with vegetables. It is hard to find a ramen place that offers a soup not made from a pork base and this place does. I also tried the popcorn chicken this time and thought it was tasty!

Carole K.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone. Han and her staff is excellent in customer service. They always go above and beyond to make sure your party is well taken cared of. The food is always served fresh and hot. The wait for a table is usually minimal, depending on when you come. And the ambiance is very casual, family oriented. Which is great if you have young, or school-aged children. My family loves coming here, and looks forward to it every time. I have even recommended it for teenagers for first-time dates. And they said it was an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Always passed by this Ramen place but haven't gotten a chance to pop in . It's located in the Kahala Mall and it's Goma Tei located near the Kahala Theater . I was craving for curry today so I decided to check them out . I ordered their chicken Katsu curry it had shredded chicken also with carrots and onions. What I like about this place compared to other curry places is that they don't put the curry on the chicken Katsu. Some places they pour the curry right over the chicken Katsu but not Goma Tei . Yelp
Very flavorful broth. Everything was well made and absolutely delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Chicken Tan Tan Won Tun Tan Tan Highly recommended! We arrived 10 minutes after opening and there were already people at 3 other tables. Off-peak times would be best as it does get packed here. Enjoy!

Yelp
What is the sense of takeout if you can never get the order right?! Legit second time I order from you and screw up my order so badly. Im confused, how can one mixed up Tan Tan and Shoyu, they look nothing alike, sound nothing alike, etc... I wouldn't even take the time to do something like this if the bowl of ramen didnt cost over $20, plus taxes and delivery fees, one bowl up to $30!!!! You think anyone has money to waste?! Its beyond incomprehensible at this point!!! Wasnt like this before. Idk who you hired, but fyi they cant read!!! For real, I havent been this angry about food services in a long time, but I let my boyfriend talk me into giving you another chance after wasting nearly $130 on you for you to completely give us an entirely different order, meaning on top of messing my order up, you also screwed someone elses order too by giving it to us!!! NEVER AGAIN! Learned my lesson. To other people out there, NEVER order takeout with these guys unless you dont mind not eating and wasting a bunch of money like I did.

Yelp
Excellent food for the price. The service is great. Super fresh ramen and excellent broth. My wife is vegetarian and always appreciates the vegan broth. Try the Tonkatsu Tan Tan.

Yelp
Our favorite ramen place! Busy and a little loud, but encouraging because they stay so busy. Love the tan tan broth and ginger chicken dishes. Add an egg to your ramen! Fast and delicious, our family looks forward to going for special occasions or just because.

Yelp
What went well? Absolutely everything every time! I come here 2-4 times a month and am never disappointed. The food is so delicious and everyone here is incredibly kind. I've got my favorites of course, and I always order extra so I can take home and enjoy it for the next couple of days as well. I just learned today that they use Hokkaido rice!! And this past March I was just in Japan for the first time as an adult and now I know what they mean and why it's so special and delicious!

Yelp
Nestled within the vibrant Kahala Mall in Honolulu, Hawaii, Goma-Tei Ramen is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. While I'm a frequent visitor to their Ala Moana location, I recently ventured to their Kahala Mall outpost for the first time. The anticipation of exploring a new culinary experience in a familiar franchise was an adventure in itself. My usual order at Goma-Tei is the Tan Tan Men, a delectable fusion of flavors that combines rich and creamy sesame broth with perfectly cooked noodles and a medley of toppings. It's a dish that never fails to tantalize my taste buds and keep me coming back for more. As I settled into the cozy ambiance of Goma-Tei Kahala Mall, I was struck by the pleasant atmosphere. The interior exudes a contemporary yet warm and welcoming vibe, making it an ideal spot for both solo diners and families. It's evident that they've carefully designed the space to enhance the dining experience. When my bowl of Tan Tan Men arrived, it was a work of art. The aroma wafting from the broth was heavenly, promising an explosion of flavors. With my first spoonful, I was transported to ramen paradise. The broth was rich and creamy, with just the right hint of spiciness to excite the palate. The noodles were cooked to perfection, retaining their delightful chewiness. What sets Goma-Tei apart is not just the quality of their food but also their commitment to authenticity. They use traditional recipes and high-quality ingredients, ensuring that every dish is a true reflection of Japanese culinary excellence. My visit to Goma-Tei Kahala Mall was a delightful deviation from my usual haunt, and it reaffirmed my belief in the consistency and excellence that this ramen franchise offers. It's a testament to the fact that whether you're a regular or a first-timer, Goma-Tei Ramen always delivers an unforgettable dining experience that keeps you coming back for more. If you find yourself in Honolulu, don't miss the opportunity to savor the Tan Tan Men at Goma-Tei Kahala Mall--it's a culinary adventure you won't want to miss.

Yelp
After parking on the second floor of the parking structure at Kahala, we scurried over to Goma Tei after walking Makapu'u. Regardless of it being a Friday, the wait time wasn't too long. Love Goma Tei so much that I've made an effort to visit all of their locations. The service is incredible (shoutout to Shen) and the quality of taste never disappoints. 11/10 fully recommended!
