GombitHotel (Bergamo, Lombardy) 12 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We could all learn a trick or two from Italy when it comes to integrating modern design into ancient and historic environs. Bergamo, in northern Lombardy, is perhaps typically Italian in that it’s oriented around a central old town, whose stone structures are six, seven, eight centuries old. And inside one of those ancient buildings, like it’s the most natural thing in the world, is the GombitHotel, an extremely stylish, extremely contemporary, and very Italian boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for just one night, and it truly exceeded our expectations. I want to highlight two amazing guys at the reception — so friendly and positive, they immediately created such a warm first impression. The hotel has a perfect location — just a two-minute walk from the main square. We also easily found parking nearby. We were a family of two adults and one 12-year-old child, and our room was a beautiful two-level suite with two bathrooms — simply fantastic! The only thing is that it was a bit warm inside, but nothing major. And yes, the church bells ring around 7:30 a.m., which might wake up late sleepers, but for us it was perfectly fine. If I could suggest one small improvement — it would be to add some egg dishes, like omelets, to the breakfast. That was the only thing missing. But overall, everything else was absolutely perfect. The room was so thoughtfully designed, every detail made with love. We’ve been traveling across Italy, staying in many high-rated hotels, and honestly, we didn’t expect much Gombit — yet we got a truly fantastic experience.

Stayed in the Gombit hotel last week and really enjoyed it. Hotel was spotless, bed was really comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, it would have been nice to have a cooked option. The only slight negative was that the room was quite warm, when we asked if we could be shown how to turn on the air con, we were informed that local laws don't allow air con to be used after the 15th of October. This was not the hotels fault obviously. They did provide a fan as an alternative. Would definitely stay here again and the location in the old town was 10/10.

My husband and I booked Gombit Hotel as the first stop on our Northern Italy tour. There was a bike race in Bergamo the day of our arrival and the front desk staff was very helpful in navigating us through street closures to make it to the hotel. Driving in Citta Alta is not for the faint of heart - not difficult, but very pedestrian heavy. Take your time and you’ll be fine! ||Upon arriving to the hotel we were greeted by two very lovely front desk attendants who checked us in and directed us to the parking garage. Our room was ready early so we made our way to the third floor and into room 10. We had three large lovely windows overlooking the park/square below. The room had a sitting area with a couch, a closet area with mini fridge, king size bed and a nice bathroom. It was a very comfortable and updated room but still had charm like the exposed beams on the ceiling. I liked how we had a code to enter our room instead of a physical key to keep track of. Also, a hand written welcome note and chocolates were a great touch. ||The proximity to all of the wonderful shops and restaurants in Citta Alta is what really makes this hotel special. About a 3 minute walk to the main Piazza and 3 minutes in the other direction takes you to the funicular station. The location cannot be beat!! ||I have no reservations suggesting this hotel to even the pickiest and particular of travelers. While it might not have all of the bells and whistles like a pool, spa or bar - you’ve got the beautiful city of Bergamo at your fingertips. ||We stayed at three 5 star hotels during the rest of our trip - and while those definitely had some great attributes - Gombit Hotel was our favorite. ||Thank you again for the wonderful stay!

One of the most unique Marriott properties I’ve stayed in. Amazing location and different than normal. The town was amazing and friendly and historic. The staff was friendly and being a smaller hotel they knew you and talked to people about their stay. Would definitely go back.

I stayed at Gombit Hotel and I highly recommend it. The team was very professional, kind, and truly supportive. A lady with long black hair — I believe her name was Mojan — worked at the reception. She spoke perfect English and was extremely polite and kind. If I ever visit Bergamo again, I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

A wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Alta. Walk to everything on your doorstep and hear the bells from the rooms. Decor is so tasteful. Team very helpful and accessible. We has triple room which as always for three is on the small side but due to its configuration, we had plenty of space. We spent two nights and could easily have stayed a third as we didn’t even make it down to the lower town.

If you want an Hotel with bars, restaurants, gym spa etc this is not for you. This a “boutique “ style hotel that has been sympathetically refurbished in an historical building with only 15 rooms. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet, the decor is modern Italian with muted colours and touches of the old building such as exposed original stone and wooden beams. We found the staff low key and helpful with a positive approach. The breakfast is typically Italian with no hot food but an adequate continental breakfast selection buffet style. The main appeal of this hotel is its position a short stroll from the historic centre of Citta Alta Bergamo with its selection of bars and restaurants.

We came from California to stay at Gombit Hotel, and we’d like to say that we were truly satisfied with the management. There was an Iranian lady at the reception who was incredibly kind and had such a beautiful soul. We were impressed by how well she spoke English. Staying there was a very pleasant experience for us, and it truly made our trip memorable.

Yelp
I'm a bit in love with the hotel. Located right around the corner from the central Piazza, Gombit Hotel was in the perfect place. Everything you want to see is steps away. The decor is very modern. Clean lines, bright / sharp colors, and great decor. Having travelled quite a bit--for work as well as pleasure, I've become very particular about my accommodations. This one almost ticks all the boxes. 1) Comfortable (and attractive) rooms 2) Very clean 3) Modern bathroom with rain shower 4) Comfortable bed with pillow options (firm and soft) 5) Sitting area to relax 6) Very nice and informative concierge 7) Fair prices for the quality of hotel The one reason that I did not give the hotel 5 stars is that there is no coffee or tea service in the room. For me this is a must. I am always battling jet lag, so often I may wake up at random random hours and just need to be able to make myself a tea or coffee. For example, this morning I woke up at midnight and was just jonesing for a coffee for hours before something was open.

Yelp
Great location in the Heart of Città Alta (old town on the hill). Very close from the funiculaire (1.60 euros RT) to go to the new city. Not 5 * because near a plaza which is noisy as all the tourist/school group meet, when windows are open. You also have the Bell carillon every mornings..... would strongly recommend to pay for a parking as absolutely not possible on the old town. A bit difficult to drive there but not too much with a gps. Friendly staff. Superbe breakfast
