Well rehearsed tour, train ride hmmm, for 23.50pp not bad value considering four sherries for tasting but all pretty much vin ordinaire. Similar to the tours of Cognac and Porto/Douro Valley not comparable to Bordeaux. As they said, Sherry is about consistency, ditto Cognac and Port unless of course u dig deep into your pocket. At the restaurant they served a Sherry Twister, interesting. Parked in town underground car park, 3min walk, safe. Some complained about parking space, similar to the UK, no issues. Warehouses cold, nah, read a review that said so, 😄 Wish we had time to visit a few other Bodegas for comparison.

The first thing that hits you as you enter is the heavy aroma of sherry. The storage houses for the American oak barrels are vast and magical. Our tour guide spoke excellent English and was able to answer questions posed by the group. The Finale was the tasting session with 3 sherries and some savouries. Our guide had explained what we could expect and we were nof disappointed. The shop sells a lot of Tio Pepe merchandise in addition to sherries. Certainly worth the visit.

I paid 21€ for the tour accompanied with 4 samples and tapas. The tour is pretty basic and there is a 20 minutes video you will watch as well. In the winter months, it can be a chilly in the bodegas, so bring a jacket if you get cold easily. The samples are fixed and the tapas plate light. I recommend bringing a bottle of water with you since they do not offer any. The easiest parking is street parking outside or in the parking garage under the Alcazar.

If you are interested in learning more about wine and the cherry culture, this is definitely one of the spot you should visit in Cadiz. I had a great tour guide who was with us for more than 1 hour and explained everything related to the winery history and the wine making process. I had seen several reviews complaining about them playing a boring 20 minute video and then just offering a quick visit to the place. My experience was nothing like that. No video and plenty of time to enjoy the place.

Google
An impressive site with stunning architecture. We had a fantastic English speaking guide, Melanie (Dutch lady), who was very engaging, entertaining, and passionate about the Gonzalez Byass story. Look out for the small ladder!

Google
Very busy bodega tour with lots of groups at the same time in various languages. Slick operation for the tour. Big scale set up.

The tour was a little slow, but the tasting itself was quite good. They give large pours for a tasting and the sherries were good (I had the VORS tasting).

Yelp
We took our tour bus for about 23 minutes from our cruise ship docked at the port of Cadiz to the Bodegas Gonzalez Byass winery. As you can see from my many pics and videos we toured lots of large, medium and small barrels of wine stored in different locations including above and below ground. Then we had a sit down wine tasting of port and sherry wines. I felt the port and sherry wines were too sweet for me, but might be nice after dinner as a dessert wine. I prefer dry wines like a good Chiati. After our wine tasting we shopped in their retail store to purchase some wine and souvenirs. Our tour bus took us back to our cruise ship at the port of Cadiz. More to come regarding our next port of call in Lisbon, Portugal.

Yelp
Hour & 1/2 long tour that includes short train ride around property and walking from bldg to bldg. it is neat to see the unique process of making Sherry in the climate. 12.50 euro included tour and two samples. They should have done a better job explaining samples. Tapas are cheese, nuts, and slice of meat for extra price. Not worth it. There is a gift shop where wine to purchase is reasonably priced. I would recommend this tour but haven't done others in the area for comparison.

Yelp
If you're looking to check out an authentic sherry bodega during your trip to Jerez, add Bodegas Gonzalez Byass aka Tio Pepe to your to-do list! We opted for the more expensive tour and tasting w/ tapas which came out to €20/person. While you don't necessarily need to make a reservation in advance, do call and check the times for available tours, as they only have them at certain times per day. My boyfriends uncle worked at Tio Pepe (and so did most of his other family) so the bodega was all the more interesting to us. You get to see a very good amount of the place, and the tour takes you on a little train from building to building. The only part we didn't love was the cheesy 20 minute video they have you watch close to the end which is basically a gigantic advertisement for Gonzalez Byass wine and sherry products. I really enjoyed the tasting part, but I do wish that it was more personable and informational. They manage the number of groups well by having the tasting room already set up with a designated number of glasses and several servers come out to pour you the different varieties of sherry. I personally enjoyed the drier types, but the sweeter types were also tasty. The tapas were just ok, and I don't know that I would recommend them again unless you were really hungry (It was a couple of pieces of cured meats, a small amount of cheese and a handful of picos) or sensitive to drinking alcohol. If I had a do-over I'd choose to do just the tasting of all the sherries minus the tapas. The tour and tasting was almost two hours total (we took our time drinking at the end) so make sure to set aside a good portion of your day for the visit!

Yelp
I've gone to plenty of winery tours in the US but this was my first out of the country. On the guidebooks they recommend making a reservation but thankfully we got into a tour without one. And it was definitely worth the visit! The grounds are beautiful, the tour is very informative, and the tasting is quite good. Plus, the prices at their shops for the wine is very reasonable. We bought 2 bottles to take home with us and each were priced at 1/3 of what you'd find in the US. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Tour has changed over the years. It used to allow access into more parts of the winery--or maybe I just got lucky because most of my family has worked here over the years. Now it feels a bit more commercial, with a cheesy 20 minute video advertisement thingy in the middle of the tour. Don't let that deter you. It really is a must visit. There's still so much to see and so much history and information to soak in, plus the sherries are quite delicious. We tried both the dry and sweet ones, and were given tapas (picos, cheese, cured meats) to munch on in between sips. The two-hour tour ends with a stroll through the gift shop, where I was able to snag a pair of Tio Pepe socks. They're my favorite. 4 stars. Solid.

Yelp
I paid 21€ for the Sherry Fusion tour accompanied with 4 samples and tapas. It was advertised for only 20€. They should update their price list.

Yelp
Mainstream tour buses likely but beyond the kitsch is an authentic bodega with amazing sherry production and quality too. It's a double distillation dream with all the culture and history infused with fortifications not just in the drink but the grounds and structures. Tours are well organized, grounds are vast and yes there are tastings and gifts to take home. I'd give it five stars if it wasn't so structured - no ability to just taste and buy like Napa or other areas that grow wine. You're committed to a 90-120 tour process and then you can taste and buy!

Yelp
We made a nice guided tour around the area of this bodega. It was not quite reasonable priced but ok. The site of Gonzales Byass is huge so we used a small tourist train to travel around. It is really nice to watch. Our tour guide was speaking German very well, there have been also tours in English and French. We had a tour without Tapas, what was a very good decision. We had the tasting anyway and also some potato crisps. The Tapas the other guests had, weren't much better just expensive. So if you wanna make the guided tour, don't choose Tapas within!

Yelp
We took a sherry tour at Bodegas Gonzalez Byass, where the famous Tio Pepe sherry is produced. The tour started by train by which we travelled around the bodegas. The first stop was to see the old distillers. Sherry is distiller wine, which is matured in oak casks. To get the same quality of sherry a fixed amount of different matured wines is mixed. At stop two the place, where the casks are stored, we got an explanation about the grape and got to see a movie about Tio Pepe, the founder of the company. We also got to see casks signed by different celebrities and casks belonging to the Spanish Royal family. After the tour around the bodegas we joined a sherry tasting. There was a choice between two or four sherry wines for the tasting. However, to my taste the two first wines served were best. We also ordered tapas, but these were disappointing. It was too less food for the amount of wine we got. We would have liked to see some bread served as well. After the tasting there was time to visit the shop and buy your favorite sherry. The total time of the tour was about 1.5 hour. All in all I enjoyed the visit to Tio Pepe and learned more about sherry.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I made the internship in this winery. I was treated no nice. I received a very naughty evaluation which I asked explanation and anybody wanted to answer to me in person. They acted all behind. Just wrote e-mail and when I asked to speak in person, Just said: I'm busy, I'm busy. When I spoke with the university, thanks godness they refused that naughty marks they did as they understood my situation as they told me that Gonzalez Byass has already got some more problems with students and anybody gave a reasonable answer. Why? I think it was something personal althought they refused, of course. The excuse was I was no confident on myself. The thing is that I have never done any visit. So...? And I had good recommedations (3 to be exactly, from others place). Likewise, the price is quite expensive for the service received. The standard visit is no cheap and they usually take people for internship which they pay 300€. The visit is focused to the commercial issue rather than informative for the price paid. In fact, you will see a video where it says they sell a lot, how many prices they earned and so on... They worked very well in Marketing and it's the common company that sells very wells in ads and media but there are around Jerez bodegas that focus better in the wine production interest instead of the commeciar area.
