LOVE the Cheese Club box! Each cheese was unique and flavourful, with complex profiles I hadn’t tried before. I really appreciated the note sharing the background on each one - it made the experience even better. Such a great way to discover new cheeses. It arrived around 7pm the day of delivery, which was perfect. And the olives were amazing (coming from someone who normally despises olives) and loved the surprise tote bag too.

Hidden gem indeed! This store is wedged between non-descript stores and very easy to walk by - but once you step inside you’re greeted by an imaginatively stocked store full of canned goods, excellent cheeses and wines you won’t find many other places. They have the best staff - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This was our first visit - picked up a selection of items to try out, and will be cooking pasta / mussels tonight. Strongly suggest you stop by here.

We enjoy Norway brown cheese and so gladful to find it at Good Cheese, Gerard. They do carry multiple choices of cheeses, snacks, alcohols etc. Such a wonderful little store with friendly staffs.

They were warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about their selection. Their enthusiasm for cheese (and wine!) was contagious, making the experience even more enjoyable. The store itself is beautifully laid out—thoughtfully arranged, inviting, and just a lovely space to browse. But what truly sets Good Cheese apart is that it’s not just a shop; it’s a place to slow down and savor. They don’t just sell wine—they serve it too, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a glass from their expertly curated selection. If you’re a cheese lover, a wine enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys discovering special little spots, Good Cheese is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!

Don’t let the name fool you - they have more than (very) good cheese. A great variety of other things like wines, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, canned goods, and chocolates are also available. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You can even get a little nibble with a glass of wine here.

This store is a treasure. Amazing that it’s adjacent to so many crumbling businesses, but that’s often how it is. Wonderful cheeses, wonderful people, and some pretty good wine too (even though a lot of it is beyond my budget). I shall keep returning!

such a wide selection of tinfish. i didn’t get a chance to try the cheeses this trip, but definitely will stop by the next time i get the chance. staff are super helpful and provided suggestions. can’t wait to try all the tin fish i bought!

Second time here and I know I will be back again soon. The staff are super friendly and knowledgable. I love the overall experience and that they have plenty of goodies to pair with your cheese haul. I live absolutely nowhere near here, but it's well worth the extra effort!

This is, at its core, a gourmet cheese and wine shop, along with all the usual companions for these two delightful products (crackers, olives, tinned sardines or octopus), some prepared foods...I can't adequately describe the breadth of their offerings...oh yes, also potato chips and duck pasta sauce and jamon and charcuterie boards and...look, just go to their website. The staff are friendly and super knowledgeable about both the cheeses and wines they sell. I appreciate that there is a fair amount of their cheese selection dedicated to Canadian cheese makers/farms. The ambience is an upscale store with a warm feel. I think you can also get a drink and small things to nibble on while you're there. They offer local delivery, which I used last Christmas with no problems. Basically, this is a local gem. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but you're paying for real quality. Next time you're in the neighborhood, why not at least drop in and take a look around

Mmm... 64 slices of American cheese... 63... 62... Firstly I'll just put this out there just cuz: Growing up this address was a Cambodian restaurant ran by a friend's father who was a Cambodian army officer and kept talking about one day returning to his homeland to help with demining efforts (the legacy of the dark Khmer Rouge era). Right now this address hosts Good Cheese, which when it first opened felt like a gentrifying jab in the area (what, a wine snack bar in East Chinatown, what whitey madness is this?!), but never got around to trying it in that phase. During COVID they didn't just like many restaurants at the time pivoted to selling bottles, they revamped themselves to be more of a gourmet grocery, which is the iteration I am only familiar with. They still have some bar seating if you ever so inclined to have a glass and a bite. Though mainly you're probably here to admire the top-to-bottom shelf after shelf of gourmet goods from local and imported sources--jams by Kitten & the Bear; French chips in interesting flavours; chocolates; $10 and up canned sardines and other seafood, elevated stuff you won't find elsewhere to treat yourself or cook up a special meal. Wine and beer to take home--fridges stocked with a variety of Ontario craft brews not even the LCBO carries, such as Badlands and a couple Ottawa breweries (Tooth & Nail, Dominion City) I came across on an Ottawa trip. There's a bit of an European-esque grocery vibe to this place, complete with passionate and sometimes quirky staff. And of course there's cheese--good, fancy cheese.

I was surprised when I looked around the store. It was way more than a cheese and wine store! It is more like a gourmet food store. They serve their neighbourhood customers which come for lunch and want gourmet food items. They make lunch items (currently only for takeout), and sell deli meats, and other food items that the staff love and eat. I love brie cheese and their best is from Chateau de Bourgogne imported from France. The main goal of this store is to support local vendors with high quality products. There are chocolate bars, jams (including from Kitten & Bear), canned seafood, frozen peanut butter pie, frozen ramen, frozen lasagna, specialty alcohol, eggs, caviar, milk, chocolate milk, butter. The canned seafood includes sardines, tuna, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, trout, octopus, smoked mussels, and lobster. Their alcohol are beer and wine from Toronto breweries and that are not carried at LCBO and The Beer Store. They have very passionate cheese customers so they also sell cheesemaking kits. There is indoor dining whenever health restrictions allow it. During the summer, there is PatioTO outdoor seating. During pandemic times, only 2 customers at a time are allowed inside. I love this place - both as a store and as a snack bar. It's a great, unique idea for a store/bar, and the quality of the food/drinks and service couldn't be better. As a store, Good Cheese has a wide variety of interesting products to buy and bring home. As the name implies there is an interesting, constantly changing rotation of cheeses, including some really unique ones. There are also some great things to put on cheese (mini onions, pickles, etc) and great things to put cheese on (crackers, fresh bread and pretzels). It's a great cheese store - way more friendly and interesting than the more standard ones on the Danforth. As a bar, Good Cheese is a quiet, kinda romantic place to grab a drink and some really good snack food, including plates of the same unique cheese noted above. There is seating for about 20, in a really nice atmosphere. Their beer and wine selection is similarly unique, and I've really enjoyed the selections I've tried. The food is also excellent - the "kitchen plate" which combines cheese with a bunch of other snackables is my favourite. I've been taking friends here as a "pre-dinner/drinking" spot (since it's open until 10 pm on Fri/Sat), and it's been a big hit. The two owners (I think they're the owners?) are also very friendly and approachable, and happy to give you some guidance if you don't know much about cheese. I only have two complaints. One, the seats at the back of the store/bar are not as nice, since there isn't much back there. I always try to sit at the bar, or the tables closer to the front. Second, there isn't a lot of posted information about the cheese on the store side. Their Instagram feed gives weekly updates about their selection, but in store it would be nice if there was a list of what the different cheeses are, and what they're like, for cheese noobs like me. Overall, this is a great addition to the neighbourhood, and I will be back often!

Love this neighbourhood gem! A fantastically curated & compelling wine list. Fun snacks - like marcona almonds, truffle chips, a selection of hard to find Conservas de Cambados seafood like Galicia mussels & razor clams. Friendly & knowledgeable service. But the real draw is the cheese! Such a great selection. The cheese & charcuterie boards are great for sharing. Raclette on Wed's! Fondue on the weekend! Half price bottles of wine on Sunday! Also picked up a Vacherin Mont d'Or for a NYE party last year and it was such a hit. Great for nibbles & wine with a lovely vibe. Not really a "I'm starving and want a huge dinner" kind of a place. I've heard the sandwiches are good, too. Will just have to keep going back!

I have ordered from Good Cheese twice now, and both times I have enjoyed every product I have purchased. Every meat, cheese, pickle, and jelly I have tried is amazing. They really know their stuff! Their customer service is also really top notch. I will order from them again and again, and hopefully visit the shop in person in the near future!

Awesome and friendly staff, very knowledgeable and recommended some amazing cheeses! One of the two guys behind the counter was quick to share his favourite cheese, and gave us tasters once we walked in the door. The cumin Gouda was delicious and obviously bought some to enjoy it at home. Another one we bought which was the cheese the guy recommended was La Maréchal and it was delicious as well. I'm not a cheese connoisseur so I can't explain the depth of how delicious the cheeses taste. You should come check it out and taste it for yourself!!

I have to be honest. I love cheese I love all the interesting varieties and I love trying new ones at every opportunity. But after all those trips to St. Lawrence Market, the Cheese Boutique, Tocca's cheese cave and the many other restaurants and stores in between I've come to dislike cheese boards; not because I love cheese any less but because I often find the same varieties (avonlea, grey owl, blue Elizabeth etc.) Over and over. But refreshingly enough, Good Cheese carries many varieties of cheese that I've yet to try. Local and worldly cheese come together here and can be enjoyed in the restaurant or taken to go. The restaurant space is cozy and has that neighborhood montreal feel. They also offer cheese fondue on Fridays and Saturdays. If I could make one recommendation it would be that they should carry more reds by the glass to pair with all their delicious cheeses.

Calling this a cheese shop is a bit of a misnomer. I mean, at it's core it is, but it's really more of a neighbourhood gem. A sophisticated yet casual spot with knowledgable curators offering a great selection of wine, craft beer and...well.. good cheese. A place to just enjoy. Sure, it doesn't really belong on this side of the Atlantic. It's truly European in it's simplicity. Perhaps the only reason that it's able to sneak under the radar is because it's well placed in East Chinatown... far enough away from the social-climby set that it actually has room to breathe. Kinda awesome.

Not just cheese but they do have great fancy cheese. They sell both prepped foods (bottled coleslaw, cheese) and a small but excellent range of sandwiches and cheese that you can sit down with. I live in the neighborhood and I'm extremely into their turkey sandwich - I think good sandwiches are surprisingly hard to find in Toronto and this place nails it. Small but solid beer selection as well as a substantial wine selection. Fills the niche in the neighborhood for a high quality, casual spot to take a date - definitely classy but won't break the bank.

This place is absolutely fabulous! Amazing selection, knowledgable staff, and incredible daily specials. I booked a guided 4 wine/cheese tasting for a group of 12 last summer and they were so accommodating and helpful. We had an absolute blast, and I literally dream about some of those wines and cheeses they served. They have pivoted beautifully to the lockdown this year and continue to be a staple of the neighbourhood.
