On the Grid : Good Fortune

"Good Fortune is an experience. In it’s walls you can find anything from Japanese seaweed snacks to dragon fruit, from lovely and fresh fish to bull frogs—no lie. Their prices are extremely competitive for all sorts of exotic ingredients if you are an experimental cook, or even if you’re looking for a nice head of broccoli. Most of the staff does not speak English, but they do have a friendly customer service area that will get you what you need." - the serif design

I am very disappointed in the service and how shady valet parking is. Definitely wouldn't recommend valet parking. It's a shame because the food is decent. When I was waiting for my car, I noticed multiple people did not tip the valet, but I didn't want to be one of those people who didn't tip cause I felt bad. I took out $2 and gave it to him. Then he told me that's not enough?!? It's $4 for valet, but how come he didn't ask other people for tip at all. And why are you giving me an issue for not tipping enough when other people didn't even tip. What's worst is that at first, he walked away and didn't even ask for tip. I called him back and handed him $2. I probably would've gotten away without tipping... I definitely wouldn't come back here. Food wasn't good enough to justify the shady valet parking issue.

First time I am at this location under this name. This was formerly East Buffet on Kissena as I knew of it. Haven't been here in YEARS. It was a family reunion dinner. The food was for the most part typical family style and quite yummy. As I haven't been to one of these dinners in YEARS, I did enjoy seeing old favorites again. As we were a party of 13 of 17, 4 were no shows, last minute cancelation, we had a private room. There was another private room off to the right of us and they were LOUD. Annoyingly loud. I wanted to close our door just to shut out their noises 😒.

Food is acceptable, service is beyond horrendous. Waitress gave us menus then took the main menu away and only let us order from the specials menu. The food came quick, but we were ignored for the rest of the meal until we asked for the check from another waiter passing by to which our waitress immediately intercepted. We had plates around the table full of scraps the entire meal and there was no intention to change our plates so we finished one platter and piled our scraps there, again no one came to take any plates away. If you’re looking to pay a premium for a food court experience, this is your place. Also, a bit petty, but there was zero effort put into plating even to the last dish (oranges for dessert, see attached)

Disappointed! We ordered Peking duck but basically it’s roast duck wrapped in the white steam bread. 通菜is older than me. Chewy. Overall was so so and won’t come back anymore. Not even for dim sum.

Poor customer service. New wait staff appear mismanaged. Food took long time to come from the kitchen. Dim sum carts we're good except for one dish was undercooked! Piece of paper found in another dish. The manager REFUSED to fix the problem. New opening was a disappointment after coming here for over 10 years. I won't come back.

We celebrated my dad’s birthday here. We ordered mostly seafood dishes. They were all so delicious. We all left with a full belly.

After we take the seat for a good amount of time, nobody come and serve us a cup of tea or ask if we want anything. Then when we finally get our tea, I found a worn in my tea. They told me it is normal and unavoidable to have worm in the tea. But I felt gross!!!

I bought Chinese bbq roast pork and roast duck over rice. The food was delicious. The restaurant is clean after recent renovation. I will come back for dim sum. I like they still push the dim sum carts for you to pick and choose. That has become a rare experience. They had all varieties of dim sum from steam dishes to fried. There is a parking lot in the back with an attendant. Make sure you don't park in the Golden City supermarket parking lot. This is not Good Fourtune parking lot. I went for take-out and was allowed to park for free. Sorry no pictures because I was hungry and the roast pork and duck was so delicious 🤣

Yelp
Stopped in for a dim sum brunch on a Tuesday so it wasn't crazy busy but the parking lot was quite full due to alternate side street regulations. We parked and they collected $3, told us to hold onto keys-- so not valet any more. The menu indicated weekday dim sum was all one price, but we ended up with 2 SP items which were $5.95 (not sure if they were the rice noodle rolls). Plenty of pushcarts passing by for selections. When we asked for egg tarts, the woman said they were in the oven and would be out soon. When we spotted them on a cart, the woman came and handed us one before they were all gone. That was service I appreciated!

Yelp
Private parking lot behind the restaurant with a sign says $4. Money is collected at the gate and you park yourself. We got there on a Saturday 2 pm. It's considered late for dim sum. As expected, there were only a couple of dim sum cart pushed around. Temperature of dim sum was still hot. Food was ok. Disappointed at the 牛雜 (beef organs) since it only had one variety : beef stripe 牛肚 only. Not my first choice place for dim sum but we were in the neighborhood. Will return only if we don't want to visit traffic nightmare downtown Flushings.

Yelp
Good Fortune is a staple Chinese Dim Sum in Flushing, NY. It started as East Manor back in the late 90's. We went for wedding banquet, dinner and Dim Sum lunch many times. After 12 or 14 years it run downhill. On late 2010's. it was reorganized and shutdown for major renovation. On completion, they have an extensive Chinese Cantonese menu served in a clean, bright large eatery in a banquet hall environment. Just like most large Chinese Restaurant, they have a dining area and a quick take-out area which provided Box Lunch with roasted pork, roasted ducks, soy sauced chicken etc. with Dim Sum. On a Saturday, we came for early lunch. We got in and seated immediately near the big screen in the back. The serve is quick and Dim Sum push carts were frequent many times. The Shu Mai, Har Cao, Beef and shrimp rice wraps, sesame balls, water chestnut and turnip cake, sticky rice wrapped with lotus leave, congee with thousand years egg and pork were fine. Clams with black bean sauce, stuffed Jalapeno were nice and on point. We were near the big screen in the back. It was projected with a lake view. Very relaxing and cool. The service was very quick and professional. Dirty plates were quickly replaced and hot tea refilled. As we leave, the place is getting full! I don't understand why they have such a low rating! Maybe I have a little charisma and they love to serve us!

Yelp
So I have no idea why this restaurant has such low reviews, I liked it. I was worried about the low reviews and the C that I saw on the door because I don't frequent c grade restaurants. However, I was invited by my friend Andie and I've never experienced Dim Sum so I entered. It was such a lovely experience, I tried so many things that I can't name cuz I don't remember. But what I do remember having is PIG's BLOOD. Yes yall I had pigs blood and I must say it tasted like mushrooms. I was stuffed, I had so much food and tried so many new things. I had some tofu soup thing which was good, the shumai was really good my favorite. But everything else I tried was good too. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. Thanks so much for the invite Andie I had a great time. I'm so happy that everyone was so willing to teach me a few things about Dim Sum. Such a great experience and the price was super reasonable.

Yelp
Came for a Chinese banquet wedding. It's nice that they separated it off in the back area. So it's slightly less noisy. It's typical Chinese banquet food. It was the first time I saw king crab on the menu though! It was pretty good! You left super full as always at a Chinese banquet hall. Parking was weird though. It is in the back one the restaurant. It says valet but you park your own car. And you have to have three bucks ready to "tip" the guy when you get out of the car. You take your own keys. So it pretty much a paid parking lot which they really should just label it paid parking.

Yelp
If I am being honest with myself, this rating is higher because I loved their red bean dessert soup that was reminiscent of my grandma's cooking. But let's start from the beginning of the review. Also TLDR - this is a review of my wedding reception, not dim sum so take my rating with a grain of salt. 2 years ago, my mother in law and I were looking into places to have my reception dinner. I did not want a big area and knew for my parents and for her, I should choose a chinese restaurant since we would be able to do a quick tea ceremony and people would have plenty to eat. The food was pretty good and from what my mother in law had looked at, reasonably priced too. Did I think things would be perfect here? Absolutely not but I thought it would be at least reasonably decent. I think that Jenny was too naive. When my wedding party arrived, we noticed that the workers were just eating lunch and my floral set up was not remotely done. (They had 2 wedding receptions that night including mine - mine being the smaller one) The floral people sat there as nothing was being cleaned for them to set up. That was the first red flag and second, when we were setting up, there were just many issues in all the areas we had paid for. Especially the room they gave me as a changing room - it was more like a closet that was quickly cleaned so it wasn't as dirty to walk into. But fine, I would still make this a fun night of eating and celebrations. However, things were not going to go uphill from there. Their sound system was subpar at best since my guests not able to hear the music I was playing (my guests essentially chose my wedding playlist), they also could not hear what we were saying because they had placed higher priority to the party next to ours. We were basically overshadowed by the other side so when my husband and I tried to MC our way around, it was like a shouting match. I was NOT impressed. That aside, it was just brutally warm. Our reception was at the end of June and for whatever reason, their AC just wasn't holding up. But fine, at least the food was good. To our cake cutting! We were able to cut our cake for photos and this cake was specially made from my friend. After our initial cut, the workers there diligently removed the macarons and decors from the cake and cut them into slices to serve the guests. However, when I found out they took out the macarons and other edible decors deeming it unedible made me incredibly sad. And what sucked was not everyone got to try my friend's delicious cake. :( At the end of the night, as we were packing, they also somehow LOST our tea ceremony tray. It led to a very unhappy mother in law. And for me, I also had no words. Overall, I think their food was decent but their service was subpar. If they could not handle 2 weddings at once, they really should not have made it seem like they can. Perhaps it was partially my fault as well for not going through more places but I was definitely underwhelmed and if I ever had a do-over, this would not be the place.

Yelp
Had the standard dim sum selection for lunch. Dim sum on push carts but there is also a counter for certain foods. We saw neighboring table with lobster noodles, that looked awesome. Will need to get that next time!

Yelp
Came here for a wedding reception and had a pretty good time! The food was solid and more importantly, it really reminded me of home/childhood memories! Some highlights from my meal: -shrimp and broccoli - this isn't a dish I readily order but I was surprised at how juicy the shrimp pieces were and how the mayo wasn't too heavy or creamy. -lobster - you can never go wrong with the classic ginger and scallion sauce but the lobster pieces were pretty fresh and also juicy -fish - literally melts in your mouth!! I wish it was less oily (more soy sauce) and more scallions but the fish was steamed so nicely that it comes off the bones super easily. -yi mian noodles - I love how they weren't too dry and were well-seasoned! The restaurant itself was huge, not only with a general dining area but also the private room in the back, which accommodated at least 20 10-people tables and had a little stage with visual/audio capabilities. Service is typical of Chinese restaurants in my opinion but may vary since some staff were smiley and others were kinda rude.

Yelp
Since we were in the area for a soccer game, we decided to get some dim sum. We got the Baked BBQ Pork Bun, Shrimp rolls, Shrimp Dumplings, and Steamed rice with shrimp. It was great and we ate all of it. My favorite was definitely the Baked BBQ Pork Bun but everything was delicious. All of that was for less than $25. No soup dumplings tho. My son really enjoyed it...so this review is from him :)

Yelp
A staple in Flushing, Queens for as long as I can remember. Back in the day, probably around the year 1998, it started as "East Manor." The place was huge, and the interior was stunning at the time. But like most Chinese family restaurants, whatever the reason nay be, the condition deteiotes rapidly probably due to cheap materials and failure to property clean. Not that it matters to me, I'm just there for the good food lol. The dishes were always good, and the prices real solid. Then, the late 2000s to early 2010s came, and this place went downhill. The exterior looked run down, and fewer customers frequented it. After major renovations in the mid to late 2000s, this spot is back on point again. It's now called Good Fortune. I've been here plenty for dim sum and dinners. Everything is good, and they even got twin lobsters specials for $30 bucks eat in only. This place is huge so never really any wait even when it's packed on a weekend dim sum.

Yelp
Not sure why the ratings are bad, we loved this place! Cart service, loads of options, and reasonably priced. The ribs with black bean sauce, chicken feet, tofu skin roll, and shumai were our faves. But honestly, we loved everything. Parking available for $3.

Yelp
Decent Dim Sum nothing special however it is away from congested downtown Flushing. Larger variety overall and very spacious however this restaurant is very loud due to so many patrons. They do also have a take out section to pick up Dim Sum and assorted roast meats. I recommend parking on nearby streets since free and avoid the chaotic valet parking they offer.

Yelp
Despite the ubiquity of dim sum spots throughout NYC, I don't think NYC has the highest standards or the most killer scene in the country or the continent (#1). Good Fortune is definitely on the lower end of the dim sum totem pole and even the regulars here know it. Excellent selection? Not really. Passable dim sum dishes? On some days. Mediocre overall? Most of the time. On a positive note, I'm incredibly happy they've taken the time during the pandemic to clean the place up and modernize the interior. It's a different place from a decor standpoint and a massive upgrade from what it once was. It could really function as a banquet hall at this point and be a destination for special events. It is still one of the most spacious spots in the borough, making them a legit option for large parties. Food wise, it's not much of an improvement. While the dinner service is still their most ideal time, the food during the dim sum hour is very much a *your mileage may vary* situation. I haven't had good luck with much of their classic dishes, namely the turnip cakes (dry), egg tarts (bland), shrimp dumplings and siu mai (also dry + bland), sticky rice in lotus leaf (gummy), shrimp rice rolls (bland), bbq pork buns (falling apart), and the pork spare ribs (greasy). I do think there are some redeeming items, such as their steamed taro cake, fried eggplant, and teochew dumplings are solid. I do think their bandwagon jumping of offering animal buns such as the pig and the rabbits are a cute touch. They've also started offering the black buns with the gold streak and specialty mantou for condensed milk dipping. Service has never been their strong suit. Whether it's being ignored or being spoken to rudely, I've always had a lot of interesting battles with the staff. Overall the cart ladies have been the best target for Cantonese fodder, but that doesn't make up for the food. Prices have gone up in these last few years, so paying a lot for subpar food is probably not going to be in my wheelhouse anytime soon. ___________ (#1) That my friends, would be Vancouver BC (Richmond) and Toronto (Markham).

Yelp
This is a solid Cantonese restaurant to get dim sum on an typical Sunday late morning with the fam. They have the food carts going around and they also have a kitchen station where you can simply go up to the window and hand pick what you want rather than waiting for the cart to come to you. Food overall here is pretty decent.

Yelp
Really wanted to like it, but after the dinner, I felt underwhelmed with most of the dishes. I came here for a banquet-style dinner, so we tried many dishes, but I think the only notable mentions were the sweet and sour pork, stir-fried clams, salt and pepper squid, and the Peking duck wraps. Everything else we got was super dry and tough. The staff was hardworking with picking up dishes and refilling our water and attending to us. The restaurant is very large with a lot of seating. Unfortunately, our table was near the entrance, and the AC was not working properly, so we were sweating throughout our meal. We went on a Saturday night and most tables were filled. There is a lot of parking in the back and a good amount of clean bathrooms.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years! The dim sum is great. The staff is friendly! There's a parking lot in the back which is always a plus this place never disappoints!
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
We had a banquet family dinner with a private area. The area was closed off to the rest of the restaurant. Once we started the dinner, the food all came out so fast. With barely enough time to finish the previous dish. We had shrimps and walnuts, beef with asparagus, seafood soup, lobster, fresh steamed whole fish, abalone, noodles, fried rice. The dishes were good, however I was so thirsty after, which only means 1 thing - msg. Overall, if you need a huge banquet style restaurant that is not in the middle of crazy flushing, this is a solid choice.

Yelp
Came here for dim sum at 1pm. Large parking lot behind the restaurant. Was still pretty busy and got seated right away. Took some time at the beginning for the ladies with the carts to come by. Dim sum was just ok. Tipped the valet $2 , then he pointed to a sign in Chinese and said tips were $3.
google avatar

Yelp
Good Fortune is a decent dim sum parlor on this particular stretch of Kissena Bvld that mainly has smaller Malaysian and Northern Chinese restaurants. It's across the street from my usual mechanic so I like to swing by every once in a while to wait for my car to be looked over. The quality of the dim sum is pretty solid, I particularly love their steamed rice noodle rolls (cheong fun) as they make really soft slippery ones fresh to-order. They have all the classics, but I don't think I have seen any particularly new or trendy dim sum that their competitors on Main St in Flushing churn out with alarming regularity. Thus, Good Fortune remains a great choice for those not picky or those who are in the area and don't want to venture further down to Flushing.

Yelp
This restaurant is in the space the used to be East Buffet some years ago. Traditional Cantonese cuisine. I liked the subtle hint of Chinese cooking wine in the poached chicken. Loved the seasoning in the lamb stew but found the meat a bit on the chewy side. The snails and the "little fried fish" were a B+ Definitely have had much better walnut shrimp. Didn't care for the red sauce on the Yin Yang Fried Rice. They sat us right in front of their ginormous wall sized screen. It was like dining in front of a Tine Square digital billboard. Worst of all, they were displaying slow moving aerial scenery that was triggering a bit of motion sickness in me
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on a late Saturday morning. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of seating. We've always liked the food here. Good quality dim sum and tons of choices. The ladies pushing the carts were friendly and helpful. The waiters/waitress were extremely attentive to our table. The overall experience was great except the interaction with the cashier lady. -1 star because of her rudeness and inconsiderate attitude. I hope someone from the management gets to read this. All the hard work from the team had made this restaurant great again, don't let the cashier lady ruined it.

Yelp
$9.95 Lobster special (as of 9/3/22) but at what cost? Sitting next to its supermarket counterpart, Good Fortune Is a Chinese restaurant that does dim sum in Kissena. The food is inconsistent and the service is subpar, but when the food is done right, it is good. Also in comparison relatively, it definitely sits on the more affordable side. Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Ambience: 3/5 We had: 1) Stir-fry lobster - if they got the deal still, you should go for it! 2) Shrimp rice cake - Tasted like a leftover plate 3) Braised Ribs - fresh and good 4) Eggplant with Shrimp paste - only if it is cooked fresh by the grill is it good 5) Vegetable dumpling - good All in all, a rather standard experience, but not sure if I'll be coming back!

Yelp
10 dolla lobster can't be beat Everyone knows flushing had good dim sum. This place is fantastic to grab sum dim. They have all the classics - shrimp long noodles, shrimp dumplings, turnip cakes, congee, a wide assortment of buns. We also went over the top and got ribs and crispy noodles as well. We asked for a freshly made crispy noodles and they went into the back kitchen and brough just that. So yummy. However, this place has an amazing deal: $10 lobster cooked Canto style. Came out hot and fresh, lightly battered and cooked in a flavorful sauce. Literally every table had one of these. Can't find this anywhere else - highly recommend you come check this out

Yelp
My review is based solely on them charging extra on the bill for ordering take out. How can they charge that much for customers ordering take out? Are they charging me for the plastic containers? If so aren't that already charged with the food pricing? Also what are the percentage rate are they charging for this. Feels like it's just something they wanted to add to the bill to make more money on their own end. I'm sure I'm not the only one complaining about this when the customer realize what they are paying extra for. Definitely should be removed! *Someone is telling me that the extra charge is because I ordered some type of special dim sum but I did not order anything out of the ordinary. Even if I did order something that was special. Why would they charge me extra for it? and not with the dim sum price on top?
google avatar

Yelp
Low salt eaters rejoice. Overall the food was bland due to lack of salt. Even the ginger scallion sauce for the poached chicken didn't help with the poached chicken. The best dish out of the 12 dish was the peeking pork chop
google avatar

Juju W.

Yelp
A massive newly renovated restaurant with a huge video screened wall depicting an aquarium. The table we had was by the entrance and had a terrible draft every time it was opened, but the food was pretty good and prices were reasonable. They have specials but menu is in Chinese. Our non asian friends felt this was exclusionary since if you didn't read, you wouldn't have known. I would recommend the lobster w noodles. Complimentary Red bean soup for dessert.
google avatar

Risa S.

Yelp
It was our first try at this spot after having been recommended this dim sum restaurant - although it is not one that is close to downtown central flushing shops, their parking was plenty and you are also situated right next to a grocery store. Traffic was congested as people were going in/out of the shops but at least spots were available and easy to find. The restaurant is large and mostly clean - you are greeted by friendly staff and quickly taken to a table and start your dimsum experience as the lunch ladies' trolleys make their rounds around as you flag down your favorite food to snag and share for your table. The dishes were solid and I couldn't complain about the taste as I find most other dim sum restaurants to be of similar taste. I did however particular appreciate their large and clean bathrooms. They had plenty of stalls and it was well lighter and mostly clean and maintained - something which is a rarity in some shops.

Yelp
Me and my sister came here yesterday for lunch. We ordered a couple of dim sum, pork fried rice, and other yummy items. There were other dishes we wanted to try but we got full really fast. I should have drank the hot tea first! The service is great, and the dining area has been remodeled so it looks more vibrant.

Yelp
Came here for dim sum on a weekday. Huge space. They did a nice job with the renovations. It wasn't very busy. There is valet parking available in their small lot. Cart service is available for steamed dishes. If you want anything pan fried, you need to go to the kitchen counter for that. The dim sum was ok, decent variety. Service is typical. This restaurant is away from the hustle of downtown. There is street parking available. If you're parked on the street, you can go to the Chinese supermarket and Fay Da bakery in the shopping center.

Yelp
I saw this reopening three weeks ago. The restaurant had a vacate notice on the door since 2020. Allegedly there was a problem with the facade of the building. I stopped by at noon for some Sunday dim sum lunch with my gal pal. There is a takeout section with dim sum and bbq pork and roast duck and pork. The one star goes to the modern decor of the restaurant. Very few dim sum carts roaming this big restaurant. The dim sum was very bland. The har gow skin was very thick. The ham sui gok was hard and very very little pork filling. The lo bak go was cold and had no flavor. I was there for about an hour and my favorite dish was no where to be found...chicken feet. Wow. I wish them the best but I will not be back.
google avatar

Dominic W.

Yelp
The name says good fortune, but all I received was bad food. We had approximately 50 people, it was a banquet style prefix menu-food. And this was the first time we've returned to this restaurant since the fire forced them to close several years ago. The suckling pig with jelly fish was the worst dish in my opinion. The pig was cold and tuff, the skin was chewy and not crispy. To top that off one of my friends found a mesh string in the jelly fish., disgusting. The ginger and scallion lobster was way undercooked. I found a small bone in my shrimp and cashew dish. The rice in the shrimp fried rice was very hard and bland. The creamy corn soup with fish maw had no taste. In fact, out of the 8-9 dishes we had only 2 were good. Needless to say, we will never return or book an event here at the not so good and not so fortunate restaurant.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. I enjoy this dim sum restaurant very much. The service is good and the servers are friendly. I like the fact they have a parking lot in the rear. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice vibe for a dim sum place. Two thumbs up

Yelp
Great Cantonese Dim Sum. There's a separate area for take-out that's convenient. In and out fast !! Large parking lot.

Yelp
Covid19 review for dim sum takeout only: It's a jungle out there if you're craving dim sum during Covid19! Most of the dim sum places have been blatantly price gouging (I'm looking at you, Jade Asian Bistro!!). Good Fortune, thankfully has not! Yes, they did increase their prices slightly, but this is understandable during Covid19. The average dish costs $3.67; larger dishes were $4.36; steamed Big Bun was $2.71...prices are not really too bad! So for NOT price gouging, I'll give them an extra star! We tried a variety of basic dim sum items (har gow; sui mei; chicken feet, spare ribs, buns, sesame balls, etc). I can't really say that any one dish blew me away, but they were all very fresh, tasty and traditional. Other items available (besides dim sum): pre-cooked dishes in their steam tables; and all their usual BBQ items (roast chicken, duck, pork, etc). The line stretches out onto the sidewalk, but it surprisingly moves very quickly. They were pretty organized, and service is fast and friendly. While you pay for your items at the register, they are packing up your dim sum choices. By the time you come back, your food is ready and waiting for you. Also, street parking during Covid19 was great! I found a parking spot just a few steps away. For my next dim sum fix, I will return to Good Fortune!

Yelp
Shout out to Good Fortune for still being open during Covid-19. Got my Chinese BBQ fix on Mother's Day when other places are completely closed or have sold out by mid-afternoon due to high demand. I haven't had bbq meats such as char siu, roast pork, roast duck, or soy sauce chicken since February (before covid struck) and we're now in May. The quality is still good and maintained its consistency despite the times we're in. Prior to covid, I would frequently come here to enjoy dim sum on the weekend before heading next door to buy groceries or grab char siu and duck over rice combo takeout for dinner and they've got really nice staff there. Please support them if you can. I don't know why, but I've never reviewed Chinese BBQ before... I'm glad I got the chance to this time. Soysauce Chicken: 4/5 Usually: 4.5/5 The soy chicken seems to be slightly less salty this time but definitely doesn't affect the taste that much. Put a dab of some of that ginger-scallion dip that comes with the chicken and you're golden. Goes so well with rice!! Roast Pork Belly: 5/5 Usually: 3/5 Ok, so this right here came as a shock to me... I never -- and I mean never -- liked roast pork much despite my love for pork belly. That's because the ones I usually get are disproportionate in the fat-to-lean meat ratio. Typically it would be a chunk of lean meat with barely any flavor in the meat (because only the part closest to the bone is marinated a.k.a. the bottom part of the meat and the rest would be untouched by marinade) and then no fat, capped off with a crunchy crispy skin. This one knocked my socks off because the meat was tender, there was actually fat, and the skin was crispy!! The golden ratio for fatty pork belly. This place definitely gets it. Dip it in some of that sweet hoisin sauce and you've got yourself a foodgasm. Not even exaggerating.

Yelp
First off there is $3 parking plus tip in the back lot, this is Flushing people, parking can be rough and I like the convenience that you won't have to look for parking to eat. The place is clean which is a big plus and the staff is friendly. I love their dim sum here and I love that it's an open kitchen too. A variety of tasty dim sum and it's a worth a visit.

Yelp
I've came here for dim-sum with my family. The service was very typical. You have these Asian lady's going around in little cart serving little tapas. My favors the pork siumai, and the shrimp dumplings. The food was spot on, so many options, but to bad I had a little stomach, lol. I would have gave this place a higher star if they just gave better service, it took forever for the little carts to come over to us, so we just waited. The servers were no where to be spotted, when they finally got to us, they didn't even clear our plates even thought it was visually soiled. When we paid the bill, the first thing they check was for tips, I found that pretty disturbing. Next time I think I'll do take out, then dining.

Yelp
Excellent dimsums. Better yet, they do not charge for tea. Dishes are under $4 on weekdays. Lobster special most of the time for the past year. Yum yum.

Yelp
This dim sum parlor has finally reopened after their casualty months ago. They are doing soft opening now and running some amazing specials. Please support a local business! I've always enjoyed their dim sum selections.

Yelp
We meet up with our extended family whenever we're in town and this has become our go-to place. The staff is nice, the food is great, and the prices are fair. What's not to love? Reminds me of big party halls in San Francisco!

Yelp
My mother and her sister always goes to good fortune for dim sum. Our extended families celebrate here for all birthdays and holidays. Usually never a problem and food is good although prices have gotten a little high but that's inflation for you. The problem that my mother encountered and made us all decide to never go back to good fortune is the service. Mean, dishonest ladies at the dim sum cart and especially at the counter. Absolutely no customer service skills. My mom and her sister went for dim sum and when it was time to pay the bill realized they were charged for a dim sum they did not have. Went to speak to lady in black at counter and she rudely said "you don't know what you ate!" My mom said I do and I know I only had 3 dishes not 4. Ask the dim sum lady and she said "you should keep track of what you order!" Long story short. They ended up taking the dish off of the bill but they were so rude. The manager who knows our family kept apologizing and we would have been fine if that lady in black didn't run up in the middle and kept yelling at my mom. She has no business working in a restaurant with no customer service skills. Now our 6 extended families are never ever going back to this terrible restaurant because of how my mom was treated. Even 1 star is too much for this restaurant.

Yelp
The only reason I stopped by today was my boy wanted "animal Dim Sum" since we were happen to be in the area. Gosh, visiting a Flushing is like an annual event to me, LOL! Am I a "healthy freak" or this place just really becomes sticky n greasy both on food, table, floor, environment etc? I looked at the food including the takeout booth. Food swim in oil....

Yelp
AVOID!!! Went with the family for Chinese New Year dinner and expected it to be a bit crazy so we made reservations at 5pm and preordered our dishes. Newly renovated so it was nice and bright. Restaurant was less than 50% full and when everyone arrived we asked them to start serving our food. To our surprise they decide to put ALL 12 dishes (including apps and soup) that we ordered on the table at the same time. Table was so full that they had to put dishes at the table next to us since there was no room to even move the lazy Susan. I asked why they would do this since food will be cold and they said they have no choice because it's CNY. What a lame excuse for a restaurant. Only reason why I gave 1 star was for the average at best food and $5 Heinekens. Will never go back.

Yelp
Heard this was open again and wanted a change of place for dim sum. We used to love coming here if we had a large group. Everything was cold....even when it came right off the steam carts. Dim sum sucks if everything is cold. Can't miss the signs for the $9.95 lobster deal. Be wary. Quality is hit or miss. I lucked out and got one that was mushy. Reopening pains? Don't know but it'll be a looooong time for me to come back again.

Yelp
Really glad this place was open during COVID since I was craving some dimsum. This was been a favorite place of mine for a few years now. The last time I went I got some dimsum classics such as the chicken feet, spare ribs, shumai, har gow and har cheung and cha siu baos. All the items were delicious and their prices were still pretty good despite COVID. I was able to get those 6 dishes for a little over $30. Really love all their dishes and I'm excited to go get more soon!

Yelp
Good Fortune has definitely improved over the years. They serve dim sum in the morning/afternoon and then Cantonese food in the evening. I've been here for both and typically for banquets or events for Cantonese food and I can definitely tell that their quality has gotten better. They also have a take out section that is decent as well which range from serving Chinese barbeque meats and other Chinese take out foods. I don't think the dim sum here is that good, especially since there are much better dim sum spots in the area. I never have to wait when I come here for dim sum, and maybe that's cause it's not that good here or maybe they're just not as known for it but I guess it's good to come here for dim sum if you don't want to wait long. They have the typical items and even the authentic feeling of ladies pushing the carts around and stamping your card. I love being able to see what they have in their carts so I know what I'm getting. For dinner, I definitely think they have improved on their flavors! Every dish is pretty flavorful. I love their appetizer platters, the steamed fish (which is huge!), the lobster and crab dishes (which are super flavorful), and even the crispy garlic chicken. The chicken was not dry at all and the skin was crispy. Even a simple dish of beef and asparagus was very flavorful as well. For dinner events, we always have fried rice and noodles at the end which are really simple, doesn't have too much flavor but somehow, still tastes good! I definitely prefer coming here for Cantonese food over the dim sum but overall, still a pretty decent spot for food in general!
