This was a surprising gem I found by accident. I literally pulled in their parking lot just to make a U-turn and saw the inconspicuous entrance. As soon as I walked in, I felt the atmosphere of never wanting to leave. Very warm atmosphere with decorations of the 80s and 90s to bring me back to my late teens and hanging out with my friends parent's basement. Had the La La Land pizza, which was quite unique with the vodka sauce and fresh basil. If I actually live in the area, this would be my weekend hangout!!

Cool, unique atmosphere, service was okay, cocktails in the bar are definitely one of the highlights. It's a very cool little spot hidden off Main St. Plenty of parking, and some outdoor seating. Let's talk about the pizza. After all, it's a pizza place, right? They do a nice job creating several unique styles. We had two round pies, one was vodka with sausage but didn't taste much different from the plain red sauce, and a regular plain cheese pie. The square ple was my favorite simply because of the crust. The onion soup pie was interesting, pretty good! But in the big picture, this pizza is not "great" - just unique. I attribute this primarily to the fact they're cooking it in an electric pizza oven. Definitely not as good as a coal or wood-fired oven, and really no better than a traditional gas pizza oven. That being said, it's a nice place and worth the trip. Just don't expect the superior Neapolitan coal-fired pie served up the road in New Haven...

Nice restaurant with cozy atmosphere. The fireplace was on and staff were super friendly and attentive! Ordered the frisée and it was a unique salad, loved it! Spicy pizza without meat tasted good when it was hot but was not at all spicy, it was bit sweet, the crust was good though! Alagash white went good with it. Overall good experience!

Google
Not a very good pizza for the money! Just dough and sauce. And the second pizza is very spicy, although the waiter said it was not spicy. And it also burned on top, which is visible in the photo. I don't recommend pizza. Cocktail is too small for 15$. Draft beer is good.

We had always heard great things about Good Old Days and their French onion pizza specifically, but WOW. We were beyond impressed! I think it’s great that they have a more limited menu focused on the pizza so that they can master what they do well. Loved the vibe - it was cozy but eclectic. Staff was great! We warmed up here after a night at the igloos at the nearby winery, so it really hit the spot. We’ll be back because the French onion is in the top 5 best speciality pizzas I’ve had in CT!

Google
Great little spot with amazing pizza and salads. Not to mention their homemade desserts! This little place has it all! We were not disappointed one bit! Don't be afraid to try their "weird" sounding pies! That French Onion square pie was the hit from our group! My favorite was the Heat of the Moment. All was delicious! 😋 Get there early. They get pretty packed!

Google
Been back here a few times and it is AWESOME! Because - they have Sicilian style (square, thick crust) and crunchy, which is uncommon. I grew up in NYC and while you could certainly find this style, it typically did not have crispy crust. The toppings and flavors are delicious. In the photo, you will see their really cool ricotta kisses - a treat for the eyes and palate. Their cocktail program is among the best we've encountered. There are few places that combine outstanding pizza with killer mixology - G.O.D. does the spirit world justice! One of the photos shows the G.O.D.s mai tai 3.0 - cachaca & mezcal - are you kidding?! Desert - House-made choco-taco, dipped in dark chocolate. Oh yeah! The only comment I have for the owners: Friday night, there was a duet playing which is a great add to an evening but the din was deafening! The place was packed and with the music, it was impossible to carry on a conversation. The acoustics are hard - below grade with plenty of hard, reflective surfaces. Would be even more awesome with some absorption/diffuser panels tacked up.

Google
Such a cool place! I ordered the French Onion pie, which was very good! All their pizzas are pan pizzas, which I absolutely love (don't get me wrong, NH-style is great but not superior to any other pizza style). I had a chance to talk to the pizza guys, who were very kind and fielded a bunch of my weird questions about their ovens, prep, etc. The atmosphere was really cool - a neat place to hangout with friends. It has the same kind of dark cozy atmosphere as the Dew Drop Inn in Derby, if you're familiar. Highly recomended!!

Yelp
This was a gem in Newtown! The pizzas were phenomenal - we ordered the vodka and the Bikini Bod and both were excellent! Although the thin round pies were good as well, i definitely recommend the square pies for its quality, portion size and the price.

Leah S.

Yelp
Was crushed when we had friends drive out to try the Tommy and Dill pizza but we were pleasantly surprised by the Supersize Me and Spicy Italy pies!! The spicy vodka sauce on the Spicy Italy pies was out of this world. As bummed as we were to not get what we came for, we still appreciate how Good Old Days consistently uses fresh ingredients for all of their food!

Yelp
They don't call it Detroit Style on the menu. But Good Old Days Pizza in Newtown makes the best CT Detroit Style I've had anyway. So many Foodies rave about Good Old Days. I've wanted their French Onion pizza since I first saw it on Instagram. It was perfection. The awesome cheesy garlic bread vibes. The crispy side crust. The sweet sugary onions. The way the mixed Gruyère and mozzarella melts and tastes. The color on the bottom. Great pizza. The space is also very cool. I ate outside. Service was friendly. They have good beer choices. All good stuff. I don't know where people had Detroit Style this good in the Old Days. But they were lucky as hell. I don't live nearby, but I'll definitely make the long drive back. Five Stars

Louanne C.

Yelp
First time here husband's work friends recommended. Got to say it was really good. I suggest you make reservations BUT they did have room at the bar. Great service. The bartender was fun to watch. Atmosphere was great they played some really good music has a movie playing just good vibes. We started with nachos they had the plain square pizza we just wanted to try. Both were very good we will be back. It's a great date night place.

Megan H.

Yelp
We came back two weeks and got there about thirty minutes they opened, hoping it would guarantee us a square pie! Service was great, they are a pretty chill staff, not up in your business but the right amount of attentive. The French Onion pie was everything and more, not your average pie! The sausage pie also hits the spot every time, can't go wrong. Tip: since the square pies do take quite a bit longer, share a delicious salad, it won't disappoint!

William W.

Yelp
We are spoiled in Connecticut, there is so much good pizza around. Depending on what type of pizza you like you can throw a rock and hit a really good place but this restaurant is unique in my opinion. They have both thin crust round pizza, and they have Detroit style Square pizza. The vibe is 70s themed and they have a really good cocktail bar in the back that's always playing good movies on the TV. The decor is really cool and unique to this restaurant and they have live music on the weekends. The pizza is truly exceptional and offers a menu with many different flavor combinations. Our favorite is the Detroit style bikini bod, which is melted cheese, whipped ricotta, hot honey and I like to add sausage. You also can't go wrong with a thin crust pepperoni with vodka sauce. This is definitely my top three places for Pizza in Newtown.

Patricia D.

Yelp
Loved this place before tonight's experience. Pizza is good for Newtown but overpriced for what you're getting. If you're celebrating and excited and a person of color not the spot to go. Which makes sense for newton lol. People actually told us to "STFU" for saying "wooo". Won't be back.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
I had to come see what the hype was all about and it did not disappoint!! I started with the vodka square pie, not sure why but I was really craving a square pizza specifically and it was so delicious. Definitely hit the spot! I can't believe I'm just now trying it after being so close. Next time I will go back for the French onion soup one!!

Yelp
I have been hearing about Good Old Days for a while on Yelp and reading pizza reviews. My daughter and I took the trip up there to try there pizza. The restaurant was very welcoming with famous food chefs pictures and back in day memorabilia. What I loved about the restaurant was the old VHS tapes stacked up with the movies such as back to the future. We ordered a pizza with half Pepperoni and Cheese and we also ordered the Bikini Bod with Hot Honey Sauce. The Bikini Bod was very delicious but for me it was very decadent. I could only eat about two or the slices. The flavors are great and that hot honey sauce is the bomb!!! I would definitely buy a bottle of that and put it on Fried Chicken. The half Pepperoni and Cheese pizza was delicious. Very crispy and the sauce was very flavorful. My daughter loves cannolis and wanted to order some. I really didn't care for them. The chocolate on the cannolis in my opinion was bitter but my daughter throughly enjoyed them as she ate all of them. The customer service was definitely on point. Are waitress was new but she did a really great job with customer service.

Emma D.

Yelp
WOW! This quirky basement will become your go to place. It is a smaller space so be sure to get there early if you don't want to wait. They do stay open late and turns into a fun bar scene. The bartenders and wait staff are attentive and friendly. The menu features specialized, unique pizzas, salads and cocktails. You can opt for any pizza on thick or thin crust even if it's displayed on the menu otherwise. Although it is pricey, the taste is well worth it.

Yelp
The one star review below was posted from last Sunday. A DRUNK ASS customer. Who vomited in our bathroom and who's drunk behavior disrupted the entire restaurant for hours. They left a zero $ tip (who does this!??) and disrespected my staff with their behavior -along with that disgusting review. I hope yelp takes it down bc it's FALSE ACCUSATION. Sincerely, owner of GODS. You are never welcome back.

Samantha V.

Yelp
Cute spot with decor of people You would most likely know & love. Our waitress was welcoming and relaxed. I appreciated our waitress did not seem bothered when I asked ice for my water. My husband loves a thin crust pizza which Good Old Days has. However, hubby let me choose tonight and I like a thicker pizza. I opted for the Plain Square Pepperoni. The cheese was ooey gooey and perfect. The pepperoni cupped and plenty of it. We'll be back to try the thin crust. Until next time Good Old Days!

Jessica O.

Yelp
Still the best pizza around! The crunch of the crust is perfection and the cheese is always a perfect melted balance or I smear the ricotta around. Ingredients are fresh and they have gotten some new menu items to try including some fun cocktails. I will say thought I typically order the same thing because it's consistently good! Nice people work there and the decor is fun and whimsical.

Brian K.

Yelp
Good Old Days continues to be one of my favorite spots. The vibes are perfect, the staff is so nice, and the pizza and cocktails are next level. There are countless pizza places in the area but Good Old Days offers something unique and delicious.

Lucy F.

Yelp
Great pizza, great cocktails, and the ambiance is pretty spectacular. My daughter isn't a pizza fan, but has been begging to go back.

Amber T.

Yelp
Best pizza of all time! There's not a day that goes by that I'm not craving good old days. Every single pie, food item, and cocktail is incredible. They also have the best gluten free/dairy free pizza I've ever had for when I feel like taking it easy on my stomach. The vibes are so much fun, and the service is always wonderful!

Yelp
ORIGIN: Good Old Days bravely opened in late 2020, led by chef/co-owner Matt Stanczak, who spent many years at Danbury's Stanziato's. It is one of several Newtown restaurants for which Woodbury residents, Clark and Kate Neugold, are co-owners. (The other two being The Foundry Kitchen and Marigold's on Main.) CONCEPT: Good Old Days describes itself as a "pizzeria and cocktail den". Indeed it is... unique, expertly crafted cocktails + pizzas served in the walk-in basement of an extended historic Main Street home that is adorned with references to culinary greats (Child and Bourdain), popularly broadcasted television shows (Golden Girls), and decor (1970s butterscotch stained glass chandeliers and wallpaper) of days past. EXPERIENCE: Finding or hearing about Good Old Days can feel like a special, little known discovery, one found via word of mouth or by chance upon entering the back parking lot of Marigold's on Main. While that may not be the case, the small sign, tiny restaurant size, and side basement door entrance evokes the notion that you are among a few, lucky discovers. Once inside, the feeling is amplified, with plush upholstered bar stools and a large fireplace casting warmth and light awaiting your arrival, and an inviting, interactive front and kitchen crew. The food and beverage served help characterize Good Old Days as a special find. This is not a place where good pizza and traditional cocktails are goals -- this is a place where the bartender and chef strive to offer a creative menu that leverages their expertise, insight, AND solicited guest input! Cocktails have fun names, adding to the den's vibe, such as "In the Mood" and "Planet of the Apes". Pizzas of various forms are reimagined, with the "square" pies taking inspiration from multiple traditions -- Detroit, Grandma's, Sicilian -- combining into one outstanding and unique conception. There are legendary pizza joints across the state, but here you can find French Onion pizza, topped with caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese that evokes French Onion soup, as well as Bikini Bod, in which dollops of whipped ricotta and a drizzle of hot honey add complexity in both taste and texture. TIPS: Expect live music on Friday evenings. Long wait to pick up pizza or long line to dine? Enjoy cocktails upstairs in Marigold on Main lounge area. Mocktails and gluten-free pizza are available. The menu changes in response to guest suggestions and visiting chef's contributions. This invites an element of surprise, discovery, and opportunity for engagement for guests. However, the chef will prepare items that are no longer on the menu as long as ingredients are at hand -- just need to ask. Not on menu, but knots of pizza dough and a side of tomato sauce are available. Makes for a nice bar snack. Add bacon on the French Onion square pizza -- over the top ! Toppings described on menu for round and square pies can be prepared in both forms (e.g. a round, crispy, thin crust rather than square, chewy, thick version of French Onion pizza). There is a $5 Happy Hour wine and beer special before 6 PM and ALL day Sunday. Some cocktails are available to go (* on menu). Open Mondays (as of March 2023), closed Tuesdays!

Yelp
This place has been all over the foodstagram so when the girls & I were heading down to Newtown for a lil wine day nearby, I knew exactly where to recommend for dinner! The vibe in here was awesome! Tucked in the back of another restaurant, you will almost miss it. The walls are covered with photos and knick nacks you'll feel like you're down in your neighbors basement! So cozy. We got seated right away around 4:30 on a Saturday. We definitely beat the rush because it was packed shortly after! Turns out, they do happy hour on the weekends so beer & wine was only $5! Even our server was a delight! We started with the Doughknots which aren't on the menu anymore, but from pics on Yelp, we knew about them. They come served with their famous vodka sauce that you could easily just drink itself, but more on that later. We ordered 3 of their "square pies" which are Detroit style with crispy edges. We got the French Onion, Bikini Bod and Vodka pie. ALL. WERE. AMAZING. The whole group agreed and we couldn't stop talking about how tasty they were as we devoured them. The vodka pie was the real star - that sauce is something special and it was covered in it. The house made hot honey that topped the bikini bod also made it a perfect pie. I was most excited about the french onion but it didn't stand out for me. There were some perfect bites don't get me wrong, but I think the other pies blew this out out of the water. All in all, you need to get here! Even though it's about a 40 minute drive, you can bet we'll be back. Everyone is still talking about it weeks later!

Ryan C.

Yelp
The square pie is fantastic--not an all-the-time pizza because it's quite rich and heavy, but it is delicious! Some of the best I've had in CT, tbh. Most recently, I had the plain pie with pepperoni, and the first time--which was late last year but I've been thinking about it ever since--I had the Bikini Bod (also amazing).

Karen M.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend who swears that it's the best pizza in the area. We went on a Tuesday and it was closed (every Tuesday, so we've learned!) so we tried again. The pizza and drinks did not disappoint. Definitely a fun vibe with their decor and the staff was very friendly. We can't wait to go back to try the French Onion pizza!

Tiffany B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon from you would not guess - a TikTok microinfluencer. Upon entry I was immediately greeted and told about the approximate wait time. There is a grand fire place right to the left of the entrance, so my mom and I stood there to warm up as we waited. Though, it was a tight squeeze due to the layout of the tables. From here, we were able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs throw the pies into the brick oven. This was nice to pass the time. I would probably not recommend coming here in a large group, or at least would suggest calling ahead to inquire wait time. The interior is small and does not fit many tables, and it is evident that they are often busy (with good reason). The service was also good. We came in knowing what we wanted - the deep dish vodka pizza as well as the pepperoni. On the menu it warns that the wait time for the deep dish is 25 plus minutes, but it did not feel that long. The pizza was yummy, crispy, cheesy, and seasoned well. Be warned that due to the size of the space, it is a bit noisy and hard to have conversation, but overall good experience.

Eli M.

Yelp
This is by far the best pizza place anywhere in Connecticut ANYWHERE. I have never had a pizza be this constantly good anywhere else in Connecticut which is surprising coming from a place so close to New York. The service is always great lovely people, and ambience feels as if I'm in a basement with friends eating home made pizza pie.

Brady O.

Yelp
Best place in Newtown for pizza! We go every Friday night and the staff is amazing! Great service, great ambiance. Check it out!

Joey H.

Yelp
The place is small and noisy. Last time the pizza was good. This time I could t believe what I was seeing. Edges all burnt and hardly any honey sauce. Thick doughy pieces of bread with blobs of ricotta. $28.00 and I threw three pieces away. We only ate the others cause we were hungry. What the heck happened here? A beginner in the kitchen? Mistake?

Melissa R.

Yelp
Very cool place and a real Newtown hidden gem. Cool craft cocktails and delicious pizza.

David H.

Yelp
"Heat of the Moment" pizza..... incredible!!! All of their food uses very high quality ingredients. This place gets very crowded, very quickly on Friday and Saturday nights, so you may want to make reservations or arrive early.

Jess K.

Yelp
Amazing Detroit style pizza, salads and cocktails. The atmosphere is great as well. Definitely worth the wait!

Jim M.

Yelp
I've gone here a number of times. The pizzas are decent, but when you consider the price and the fact that they are medium in size, not good enough for a repeat. The staff is friendly and capable. I must say the drinks are very good. The bartenders I have had both made substantial and tasty drinks. Sitting at the bar is a bit odd as it's a zig-zag setup. Worth it occasionally but there are definitely better pizza joints around.

D L.

Yelp
What a difference a month makes. Their pizzas are very inconsistent. The first time I tried it (July), I raved about the food and wrote a 5 star review, because their pizza was that good. A month later (August), oh wow, not good at all. I ordered the same thin & crispy round cheese as last time, and this time it was too done. It was so charred that the crust was black on the edges and turned bitter. I tried the vodka square pie this time, and it was so tiny, compared to the French onion square pie I tried last time. I was so disappointed after opening the box to see this teeny tiny square pie. I couldn't even feed 2 people from that pie. Sigh. I'm really hesitant on trying this place again. I honestly don't know how much food to order. Am I going to get a decent sized pizza next time or a pizza for 1 again? Such a let-down.

Alli M.

Yelp
I love this place. It has a wonderful and fun ambiance. The staff is friendly. The pizza is delicious. I enjoy how they always update the menu. I frequently visit this establishment. The pizza does take awhile to cook. They have tasty drinks too. It does get busy, so I always try to get here early. I recommend this place to friends and family.

Yelp
This was a very solid find. My mom and I came here for Thanksgiving Eve last week; this place had gotten on my radar months ago for its square pies and cocktail prowess, and I noticed it was a pretty short drive from Redding (where we were celebrating Thanksgiving). We'd both scouted it ahead of time and knew exactly where to find it, but I could see a newbie easily missing its subtle basement location, as the restaurant above it (Marygold's) definitely commands more attention from the outside. It's not a huge space but Good Old Days definitely maximizes what it has. I'd guess there are about 10-12 tables in there, not including the seats at the bar, and somehow they also managed to squeeze in a musical act and plenty of kitzchy hipster decor (there's an almost obligatory Golden Girls painting on the wall). I was a LITTLE apprehensive about the musical act, but it was actually pretty tolerable, volume-wise, likely helped by the almost purely acoustic set. And they played a Dolly Parton cover, so how can that be a negative? We were seated at one of the high tops in the bar section (my mother found the seating comfortable, which is saying something), which was pretty close to the music but we could still hear each other with a little effort. I ordered the plain square pie ($20), along with the Adulting 3.0 cocktail ($14), which included several types of berries and vodka. The square pie was very good, and I can see how this place has developed its reputation for same - the crust is crispy without being charred/burned, and the sauce was on the sweeter side and pretty smooth, which is a selling point for me. I would have liked to see a LITTLE more cheese. With these types of pies, there's definitely an expectation that the sauce is going to be the dominant cast member, but it was often more of a 90/10 split instead of what I would have preferred, which was 70/30. The cheese was so minimal I wasn't able to really distinguish it at all from the rest of the pie, which suggests to me a few extra sprinkles of cheese could have gone a long way here. I was a big fan of the cocktail - I don't always agree with hipsters on their musical choices, but they have absolutely mastered mixology. If I see a beard and a plaid shirt behind the bar, I'm going for it. Perfectly blended, and tasted like a deliciously boozy sorbet bar. I had a second one without hesitation. Also a nice touch - the martini glass it was served in was frosted, very similar to what Friendly's does with their sundae dishes. Once we sat down, I thought the service was perfectly fine. The menu warned that ordering the deep dish pies was a 25-minute prep time, but when you have a nice cocktail, the time flies by. Our waitress was very friendly and stopped by pretty regularly to check in - I think they could have used one more person on that particular night, but we didn't encounter anything egregious in that regard. The only real issue we had here was prior to being seated, and I think this could be remedied with a little additional management/training. We didn't make a reservation because I had no idea how long it was going to take to get up to that area after work on Thanksgiving Eve. As a result, there was a wait time. Perfectly understandable. The hostess told us it would be about a 20- to 25-minute wait. Okay, fair. It actually turned out to be 50 to 55 minutes. Obviously you can't accurately predict how long dining parties are going to linger, etc., but as a general rule, absolutely overestimate than underestimate. Beyond that, when we finally decided to just go in at the 50-minute mark and stay until seated (we had been waiting in the parking lot), there was no sense of urgency from the staff in cleaning off the recently vacated tables, and there were several. One waitress decided to roll up some napkins by the front, and another was just looking at some papers by the lectern area. One waiter was slowly/methodically cleaning up tables, but it took another several minutes before the hostess decided to clean up the table we ended up at. I think a lot of that was just lack of awareness, but if you know have customers who have been waiting for close to an hour, get them seated. So hopefully they tighten up in that department. The food/drinks are very, very good. I'll definitely come back but I'd likely hesitate on a busier night like this one.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere & good vegan options. Will eat here again for sure. The outside eating area is cute too

Yelp
This is seriously THE spot for pizza (Detroit OR thin crust), salads, and bar none the cocktails. I don't often stray from the It Got Weird, however everything we've tried here has been fantastic. These folks really take all aspects of what they have to offer seriously, and it performs. Pizza favorites: the bikini bod white lightning veggie roll *and the pepperoni is thick, with perfect crunch (little cups ahoy!!) Decor vibe is a mix of Clockwork orange, 70s basement bar, with an eclectic homage to culinary and celeb pics (collabs from Einstein to Julia Childs to Paris Hilton) Service is humble and hits all the marks. A regular haunt.

Chandel B.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! The ambiance, customer service, pizza and drinks are hard to beat. This is actually our favorite pizza in CT (the thick crust is Detroit style). You will not be disappointed!

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place as we have seen the rave reviews and lines of cars going into the parking lot. We are a pizza loving family so we were excited to see what all the hype was about! I am also a huge fan of "different" ingredient pizzas which I had heard Good Old Days excel at. We went in for a weekend lunch to eat inside as it was a hot day. Perfect time to come, not busy at all and they were easily able to accommodate our party of 6 with no issues. Because it is the basement level of the place, it is on the cooler and dimmer side which was perfect/refreshing for a warm day. They also have outdoor dining tables with a pretty set up if the weather permits. Cool inside decor, art work, and comfortable seating areas. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, great service! We ordered quite a few pizzas to sample all they had to offer so I can give a good rundown because I did take at least a bite of them all..... We started with the chopped vegetable salad with Gorgonzola. It was fabulous! I typically find it hard to rave about restaurant salads as I make pretty good ones at home but this was a real shining star. They loaded it with a variety of vegetables and took great care in how they sliced, diced, and presented them. They spiraled the beets, thinly sliced cauliflower, shaved the radishes..... I could go on and on but the main point is it was a delicious, well flavored, and a healthy dose of vegetable goodness. I would in a heartbeat order this salad again for dine in and for take out.... because honestly I don't have the time to put that detail into my vegetables. However, kudos to Good Old Days for taking the time and effort- it made the salad taste that much better and looked so darn pretty! The pizzas- oh the pizzas! Our Boys went with the plain cheese pie (shocker). We had heard the pizzas were on the smaller side so we ordered two for them but we still had a-little over a half pie leftover. Needless to say they enjoyed it and will have the rest as leftovers. We also got some of their specialty pies- the Real Slim Shady was great. Good quality goat cheese, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and the added touch of rosemary....Thin crust and just yummy. We also tried one of their square pies which is thicker crust. It was the vodka pie with sausage. Great vodka sauce.... just a more filling piece so you can't eat much. Other pies we tried were the Heat of the Moment and White Lightening for the guys at the table wanting the spicy pies. Equally delicious and the Lightening pie was presented so nicely- they put dollops of the ricotta on top. Nice job! Nice specialty cocktail, wine, and beer list. I enjoyed the "juice cleanse" which was a rum drink with a few other ingredients. Beautifully presented and the right balance or tasting the rum and other flavors without being overpowering. Overall this place definitely deserves the props it is getting. Their pizzas are flavorful and unique. The salad and drinks are wonderful. This will easily be in our dine out/take out rotation moving forward.

My kiddo and I LOVE coming here. From the ambiance to the staff to the food, everything is so good. The vodka sauce is to die for. I love that you can get both a thin and crispy pie as well as a deep dish. You can go classic or you can get something more artisan. The cocktails are equally amazing. This is definitely the spot I bring my friends to when they visit newtown! My kiddo absolutely loves the staff, too. He's 2 1/2 and everyone is just so sweet to us when we come in! Big shout out to Skylar, his bestest friend at "brown door pizza". We love what you guys are doing! Thanks for such a great gem in our little town.

Yelp
AMAZING PIZZA ALERT If you haven't checked out the "French Onion Soup Pizza" at Good Old Days Pizza in Newtown, CT you are missing out!! This comes with mozzarella and gruyere, caramelized onions, fresh parsley from their garden and we added crispy bacon. This pizza is unmatched! (We also tried the "Bikini Bod" w ricotta, hot honey, rosemary and herbs - also pictured). Wow.

Yelp
Creative, excellent pizzas and salads! Each week they add another unique pizza. They give you a choice of thick Sicilian crust or thin crust, that's made fresh on premisis. The salads are great with very fresh organic greens paired with local cheeses , fruits and or nuts, or seeds. Always lightly dressed with flavorful dressings. The atmosphere is unique and fun. They have great speciality cocktails and mocktails, along with a great selection of locally brewed beers on tap. The service is friendly and attentive!I highly recommend this establishment.

Yelp
French. Onion. Pizza. French. Onion. Pizza. French. Onion. Pizza. No luck. lol I was hoping that reciting it three times in a row would make another one magically appear. Ok, this isn't the movie Beetlejuice, but really---you need a French Onion Pizza in your life! It's a square pie with mozzarella and gruyere cheese, caramelized onions and parsley. We also tried the La La Land (thin and crispy) with mozzarella, vodka sauce, basil, parmesan and pepperoni. Two total knockouts! Oh, that cheese pull! And check out their "It Got Weird, Part 2" cocktail with pineapple rum, mezcal, lime, grapefruit, banana liqueur and cinnamon. The decor inside is pretty nostalgic and, well...rad. There's a sweet Golden Girls painting on the way to the bathrooms and some cool 70's style wallpaper. I dig it all. I will always order the French Onion Pizza, but also am looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu the next time. So many cool drinks too. Take me back to the Good Old Days...soon!

Yelp
Love this pizza. If you take it home just reheat it in the oven and it is back to amazing. While dining inside staff is great and setting is intimate. 5 stars

Yelp
If I could live off of their square pies, I would. It is GOD's unique combination of grandma's pie, Detroit pie, and a Sicilian pie in one beautiful rectangular masterpiece. Favorites are the vodka pie and the french onion pie. The vodka sauce is home made (and you can buy it jarred on the way out!) and if it were socially acceptable, I would stick a straw in a vat of it and drink it. Add sausage or pepperoni if you need a bit of protein on it. The french onion is perfectly done - with the melty goodness of mozz and gruyere. The onions are caramelized and packs a nice sweetness in every bite. I was told to add bacon to it, so I shall do it on next visit. Oh yea, my dedication to this pizza? I ordered takeout and drove it 45 min home to enjoy.

Yelp
Went for the first time. Saturday night. About 20 minutes for a table for four. Hung at the bar while waiting. Good selection of brews. Has the thin crust round and thick square. Outstanding flavor, sauce is tangy crust was crisp. I'll definitely be back but take out only. Acoustics are terrible you cant hold a conversation with the person next to you. They should skip the music.

Yelp
I am here often because the Pizza is outstanding and they have a solid selection of Beers and Wines. The staff is always very helpful and accommodating. I only have one negative, turn down the music. We and others around us asked repeatedly to lower the volume with little success. You are a 5 Star place with a little less noise.

Yelp
New flavor all the time. Very happy that they care so much about the ingredient's. Great vibe and Marygolds big sister restaurant upstairs is awesome too. Bikini bod and French onion hit the mark for no conventional pizza. Big smiles waiting for you at the front door. we love different it is to the many places around.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious. Service was great. It took a long time for our food to come out but we were brought complimentary garlic knots which was a nice surprise!

Yelp
Went here for the first time and loved the bikini bod pizza. It was the only thing close to eating pizza in Chicago. The cocktails were delish and the interior was so cute for the theme.

Yelp
I don't even know how I stumbled across this restaurant, but I'm happy I did! It's in such an unassuming location (the lower level of the Marygold's on Main restaurant) so it could be easy to miss. We did takeout and ordered A Cheese Pizza (thin and crispy crust), the French Onion (thick crust), and garlic knots with vodka sauce. Everything was DELICIOUS! Not your average pizza. Not NY style or wood fired. I don't know exactly what to compare to, but that's what made it so unique and enjoyable. The thick crust was like a deep dish Sicilian style pizza. The crust was just SO good with crispy edges and the toppings went allll the way to the edge. Side note - garlic knots are not particularly prevalent in this part of CT so I was excited to find them on the menu. They were super delicious... especially with that bomb vodka sauce! (Next time I'm highly likely to order a pizza with that sauce...) The restaurant had a funky, cozy vibe inside. Throwback, old school music. Home Alone was playing on a big screen TVs. Old school pizza lamps hung from the ceilings. Very dim lights (fitting for a "cocktail den"). They also had a lovely patio. I'd return for more of that thick crust pizza.
