RUN DON'T WALK to Good Tide Tours, people!!! You have GOT to see Maine from the water!
We took our 3 kids (9 yr old, 4 yr old and a baby!) on board the sweetest boat there ever was, BLUE DREAM, and had the absolute time of our lives cruising on the beautiful waters off the coast of Stonington. The breeze was in our hair, the sun on our faces, and our hearts could not have been more happy--words can't describe the loveliness of the landscape, truly.
Captain Walker is the man! He was so friendly and kind and won over our kiddos quickly, involving them in fun things like helping on board and having some binoculars for them to spot wild animals. As a local, he had such fascinating, hilarious personal anecdotes and insight into the nature, land, culture, community surrounding us. Honestly, it was a highlight of our whole entire trip to learn about Maine from someone who just knows the lay of the land. We were in excellent hands!
We spotted wild seals on ledges (mommas with their babies, so cute!), various birds like osprey, and so many other awe-inspiring things. We even saw a kayaker taking a little nap on the rocks of an island and he waved to us as we passed by (10am on a Monday, haha, what a life!) This boat cruise experience through the beautiful little islands surrounding Stonington Harbor (such a peaceful, really quaint lobster fishing port with small town charm) was a total DREAM for our Family Sabbatical in June. Don't miss the incredible coffee before or after your boat cruise at 44 NORTH just across the street!
