We had such a great time touring the archipelago with Captain Walker! Because he operates a former lobstering vessel, we were able to take a private tour (which we prefer). We loved the stories he shared of his childhood growing up in Stonington and the history of the quarrying and how this charming town got its name. Walker has a fun, laid back style: a perfect fit for our family, and seeing a few seals, osprey and loons were a plus. I would absolutely encourage anyone looking to see authentic Maine to take Walker's tour.

Captain Walker is the best. He is fun and enjoyable to have on a tour. He comes from a lobstering family and has a lot of local knowledge. He guides the tours around what you are looking for. We took a 3 year old so we mainly looked for wildlife and pretty views. Captain Walker gave our child a lobster and an owl stuffy to play with while on the boat, which kept her entertained! I have been in this area on vacation a lot in my life, but I had not seen Stonington from the water. It's still a small fishing village and they are trying to hold onto that. The tour was easy and we got lucky with the beautiful weather. His 70's era lobster boat is small and just perfect for an intimate tour. There is another tour guide in the area and that older guy does seem a bit more creepy and trolls for tours by hanging out on the dock. Definitely use Caption Walker for your guided tour. Worth your $$

Captain Walker is a gem! His wealth of historical knowledge about the area truly enhanced our experience. His friendliness and easy-going nature made our trip both relaxing and memorable. He even guided us to a tranquil swimming spot. A definite must for anyone looking to explore Maine's coastal beauty. Highly recommend for a perfect day on the water! Will definitely be returning to Stonington and booking with Captain Walker again!

My husband and I were staying on Deer Isle for our honeymoon. We arranged a boat trip with Walker based on a recommendation from my brother who had been out with him previously. We had the best time! Walker is so knowledgeable about the area and its history! We were even able to bring our pup along! We will be back for our anniversary and definitely booking with Good Tide Tours again! Thank you for such a memorable day Captain Walker!

RUN DON'T WALK to Good Tide Tours, people!!! You have GOT to see Maine from the water! We took our 3 kids (9 yr old, 4 yr old and a baby!) on board the sweetest boat there ever was, BLUE DREAM, and had the absolute time of our lives cruising on the beautiful waters off the coast of Stonington. The breeze was in our hair, the sun on our faces, and our hearts could not have been more happy--words can't describe the loveliness of the landscape, truly. Captain Walker is the man! He was so friendly and kind and won over our kiddos quickly, involving them in fun things like helping on board and having some binoculars for them to spot wild animals. As a local, he had such fascinating, hilarious personal anecdotes and insight into the nature, land, culture, community surrounding us. Honestly, it was a highlight of our whole entire trip to learn about Maine from someone who just knows the lay of the land. We were in excellent hands! We spotted wild seals on ledges (mommas with their babies, so cute!), various birds like osprey, and so many other awe-inspiring things. We even saw a kayaker taking a little nap on the rocks of an island and he waved to us as we passed by (10am on a Monday, haha, what a life!) This boat cruise experience through the beautiful little islands surrounding Stonington Harbor (such a peaceful, really quaint lobster fishing port with small town charm) was a total DREAM for our Family Sabbatical in June. Don't miss the incredible coffee before or after your boat cruise at 44 NORTH just across the street!

My family and I had a great experience out with Walker last summer. His boat is comfortable and his local knowledge of the Stonington harbor/surrounding area made for a great tour. We went out at sunset, packed our cooler and had the best time - an unbelievable memory. Walker took us around all the islands and gave us a history tour at the same time. We brought our golden retriever as well. His calm demeanor makes it a very peaceful journey that I know your group will enjoy! 10/10 thanks Walker & I hope you have a great season ahead of you!

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Good Tides and Captain Walker last August. He was born and raised on Deer Isle but has seen the world and made his way back home. His boat is comfortable and lovely. He knows the history of the area and some really cool spots off the beaten path. My only regret was showering before and not bringing my swimsuit! He took me and my friends to this magical fresh water swimming hole that I still dream about. Book him if you're in the area. You won't regret it! He might even ask a friend to bring a puppy.

We stumbled upon Walker’s tour last summer while camping at Four Acres on Deer Isle and it was the perfect option for a fun day out on the boat. We were able to bring our two dogs and grab a couple of beers for the ride. I wouldn’t call it a super traditional tour but that’s what made it so pleasant, just hanging out on an old lobster boat with a local learning about the area and how people actually live their lives in Stonington. Definitely would do it again on another Maine camping trip! 🦞

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin, Captain Walker took a page out of Johnny's book, and you feel this is only just the beginning of a very long adventure. I first actually met him in California on the beach, where he was reminiscing about his boat somewhere back east. When I ended up traveling for a work trip, I looked him up and I was in luck. needless to say good tied tours did the job for me and some clients that I needed to entertain I'd highly recommend spending a not very serious time, enjoying life in the presence of this fantastic human.
