Do you have regrets? I have regrets. Today, the Regret of the Day is not discovering Gordo's Tacos and Beer sooner.
The key to Heather's happiness is birria tacos. I swallow that key whole sometimes. I heard a few good things about Gordo's but with living in Utah County, I procrastinated on actually making it out to the restaurant. One day, I was relatively in the area and had time to go.
I had to wait in line for 5 ish minutes while another group in front of me ordered, but I was more than okay with this because it gave me time to decide what I wanted. I kinda wish they had combos, but unbeknownst to me, they do have daily specials, which are combos. I was eyeballing the tacos, especially the birria tacos, the most. Speaking of items coming with items, I would've liked it if the birria tacos automatically came with a side of consume. The birria taco was by far my favorite taco that I chose. Of course, it tasted even more amazing when dipped in the consume so I made sure to get some of that. My second favorite taco was the al pastor taco. I have had my fair share of al pastor tacos and think this one is extra incredible. I also tried the chicken taco--it was good but I wasn't a fan of the way they seasoned the meat. I loved that all the tacos came with cilantro and onions. Additionally, I loved that there was room in the taco for the cilantro and onions--oftentimes, in a street taco, there is not a lot of room for any toppings. Speaking of the toppings, they also had a whole topping bar that you could use for sauces and extra seasonings.
Another thing I loved was their elote. Now, here's what's funny about that. I've had elote on one other occasion and I absolutely hated it. It was at a restaurant in Provo and I thought I didn't like elote since having their elote. After trying Gordo's elote, I love elote. They do it right and it tasted amazing!
Inside, there is plenty of seating but I could see it getting a bit crowded, depending on when you go. They did a great job with the layout of the restaurant and it is not overwhelmingly loud. I am craving Gordo's as I finish this review so you can bet I'll be back sometime very soon with some friends.
