After finding some coupon in the latest coupon book that came out this week, my wife and myself decide today was a nice day for a drive and to try a new place out. So about a 30 min drive from Kitchener. Across from Elmira Raceway, we went to Gorge Country Kitchen. The staff was extremely friendly. And the restaurant was very clean. You could smell the tasty food. As soon as you got out of the car to enter the place and as you enter the restaurant. And I got traditional club and fries and my wife got Western Sandwich and fries and everything was extremely tasty and fresh. It for sure will be a restaurant in the future! Thank you for a great meal and wonderful service!

I came here 2 days ago and I had such enjoyment for the food. Though the onion rings came bigger than expected, I was an onion rings lover which was a huge bonus for me. The service was great. Very kind people here. I did not order much but I hope to come back soon!

Clean, friendly and welcoming environment. Huge, tasty portions all prices very well. Definitely recommend and look forward to returning!

They have large portions and the prices are very reasonable. We love the turkey dinner. Next time we will have to try one of their desserts.

We really enjoyed the service; everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was great, and even my picky daughter finished her entire plate of spaghetti. It's also a plus that each dish comes with the option of a side salad! The coconut desserts were exceptional—truly top-notch!

This place has it all. Great food, service, atmosphere, and value. A must of you are spending a day taking in the sights in Elora. We stopped for lunch but had the all day breakfast which was wonderful. Highly recommended.

For an appetizer, I had the seasoned pita bread with tzaziki dip. It was amazing. The wrap and fries were awesome as well. Make sure to leave some room for dessert. It's now one of our favourite spots to eat.

We have always enjoyed eating at the Gorge Country Kitchen. They had a new menu since my last visit. There are some delicious new options, but also a noticeable hike in the prices. That said, the portions were enormous, and we all had food left for a second meal. We had fish and chips, a kid's meal of chicken fingers & fries, a turkey-cranberry club sandwich (AN INCH OF SLICED TURKEY!), and a turkey-avocado sandwich. The atmosphere isn't why you go to this restaurant. But it was packed at lunch on Friday — we had to wait in line.

Yelp
Ugh. Nice people, nice interior but the food..... just awful. Ordered the "Pork Schnitzel" and got a plain, rancid slice of plain pork with cheese melted on top (?!?!) Even the roast beef gravy open face sandwich awful. Worse than your high school cafeteria.

Yelp
Fish and chips- cooked well. Not too dry and overcooked like some places. Came with lots of fries. Chicken taco salad- large portions, veggies were fresh. Found olive pit in an olive. Mushroom Swiss burger- cooked excellent. Lots of mushrooms and the ability to add other toppings to your burger. Nice sized patty and very tasty. Fries- seasoned with a seasoning and salted. Well cooked. Caesar salad side- large portion dressing had a fair amount of garlic in it. Nice amount of dressing. Beef barley soup - large bowl. Homemade soup. Lots in the bowl Waitress- took a minute to get to us but she was busy. Said hello and promised to be back asap. She was very nice and listed the specials right off. Food came fast (soup and salads within 5 min) Restaurant was somewhat busy but wasn't loud and had a good atmosphere. Would come back.

Yelp
Was on a day trip from Toronto and found this awesome restaurant. It's away from the crowded touristy places and has a lot of parking. The waitress are helpful and very friendly. The booths are wonderful and spacious. We ordered some roasted turkey dinner and chicken Parmesan. The chicken Parmesan was cooked to perfection and was awesome. However The turkey dinner was a let down. The meat was dry AF with little to no moisture. The gravy helped but the pieces on the bottom were tough and chewy. However the portions were ginormous. Overall, the restaurant is a must try given that all other locations either are crowded or too much tourists.

Yelp
Food is so bad. For context, it tastes like IKEA food. Not comfort food at all. Waste of $50.

Yelp
This restaurant feels like you are in the country. Just a hop, skip and a jump (a few minutes) from the Elora Gorge hence the name. A small picturesque town. Quaint little shops and this wonderful little gem that has been here for quite a while from what I heard from the locals. The smiling faces once you walk In. The display case of incredible looking pies and the homey feel to this place make their customers keep coming back. I started my meal with a peppermint tea to be followed by a lovely home made French onion soup. The pieces of bread were herbed almost like croutons or garlic bread. I decided to have the cod fish and chips. They were really delicious. But I think I am slacking because I couldn't finish my meal. I so wanted the pies I saw once I came in. It looks like they have pretty much any kind you can think of. I guess I will have to come back and do dessert first.

Yelp
We have been going to The Gorge Country kitchen ever since we moved here in 1999 and haven't stopped. The location is fantastic with lots of parking. Their summer patio addition is lovely with lots of umbrellas for protection. The family who owns the restaurant not only manage but they work just as hard as their staff. We have had food catered (love the chicken souvlaki), takeout and dine-in. We are suckers for the Gorge Country melts (former name) for breakfast and its even better now that they added even more veggies. Prices are good for a busy town of Elora. The servers are the sweetest around, we have never had bad service and they are super fast. We highly recommend you stop in!!!

Yelp
A country diner with fair prices and decent food. I had the chicken parmesan with spaghetti. The spaghetti sauce was rich and flavorful, noodles cooked al dente, chicken was moist, and the garlic toast on a decent French bread. The presentation wasn't too fancy but all in all for a family style diner restaurant, it was pretty good.

Yelp
We went here for dinner with a couple of local residents who spoke highly about this restaurant. Our group of six was very disappointed. The waitress wasn't the most attentive and, more importantly, she was a bit flippant and didn't really seem interested in ensuring that we had a good experience. I had the chicken souvlaki dinner. It was decent, but I wouldn't order it again. Others in our party had the fish, which they said was soggy. I'd be willing to try it again to see if it was a one time off day, but I'd probably choose other places first.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here for dinner and we're extremely pleased with the service and generous portions of some really good comfort food. The food was served within 12 minutes considering it was rather busy with customers. Usually a good indicator if a restaurant has good food is to see how many cars are parked in the lot. I had a big double patty burger with a slice of pea meal. I gave up on eating it like a traditional burger and resorted to a fork and knife. It was huge. My wife really enjoyed her chicken linguini as it was very creamy and cheesy. We both took the plunge and had a piece of homemade pie. Great food from start to finish. Our waitress had a hand in convincing us to consider desserts so kudos to her and her pleasant demeanour. We will definitely come back here next time our travels bring us this way.

Yelp
They had good service but unfortunately my sister and I both found significant pieces of hair in our food.

Yelp
After a day of tubing in the Elora Gorge (close by and recommended!), we wanted to stop somewhere close for food. This place came up in a search and sounded good. Almost everything you can imagine from the name of the place itself is true. It's a little bigger than we anticipated (it's a pretty big restaurant!) but the food is of country cuisine that you would expect, especially the desserts! Our server was nice and patient while we tried to decide what to get from the big menu. Once we actually ordered, our food came out as a large portion and was very tasty. We also enjoyed washing it down with a local beer from the town. Overall, a successful find in a very small town. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Yelp
Pretty good menu. I loved that they had eggs Benedict! One of my all time favourite breakfast options.

Yelp
This is truly a great spot . ' The Gorge ' ( as it's called by locals ) is located just across from the Elora racetrack / casino. It's been around for 17 years and the fact that it is packed with line ups every Sunday morning pretty much speaks for itself. We are there about once a month. And , as a result, can attest to the fact that it's packed by locals who come in from around Elora, Alma and Fergus for the great food and country casual ambiance . Which again, I think speaks volumes. It's a large family owned restaurant with a large ' family oriented ' menu including kids and seniors menus offered at very reasonable prices. The restaurant is impeccably clean and the decor is sort of a cozy casual country chic with seating either by window booths or tables to give you that cozy ' family restaurant ' feel - hard to put into words, but it just feels very welcoming there the moment you step inside. And ever since we've been going there, we've found the staff to be consistently super attentive and friendly. They offer everything from amazing country breakfasts ( and an ' all day ' breakfast ) to burgers, large salads, sandwiches, dinner entrees of steak , pasta, etc. etc. The breakfasts in the mornings / weekends are all you could ask for - we're big fans of the eggs Benedict and the ' big ' breakfast ( which includes a sampling of almost every breakfast item ) and - my fav - the french toast. The burgers are large and home-made - and very moist filling . We've also had the chicken parmigiana ( my fav ) , veal parmigiana, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, steak, julienne salad, monte cristo and reuben sandwich numerous times and have always enjoyed them. Special mention should go to their fish dishes - especially the perch and orange roughy - simply outstanding. Whether it's the breakfast, lunch or dinner items we've had over the years the great quality of the food hasn't changed and the portions sizes they prepare remain just as terrific as well. And, all their desserts of pies and cheesecakes are home made - their home made lemon, apple, chocolate and coconut cream pies are out of this world. Now, the only downsides are very minor in nature. On some special occasions over the years, we've ordered a cocktail or 2 and more often than not, the cocktails being prepared are just ' so so ' and some drinks we wanted simply weren't available. But, folks line up at ' The Gorge ' for the food and value - not the booze. And ,given virtually everything else is made from scratch, I would of thought they would of had ' fresh cut ' fries instead of the ' so-so ' ' McCain ' type frozen fries they currently serve ( which still taste O.K.....but not great ). So, if you're out and about in the Elora / Elmira / Fergus area and are looking for some breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner ' home cooking ' in a great country / casual setting - ' The Gorge ' would be a great choice.

Yelp
This is my least favourite place for go if you or anyone you go with are vegan. They have no options other than a garden salad that has one wedge of tomato cut in half, two thin slices of cucumbers cut in half, three slivers of green pepper, a full bowl of iceberg lettuce and no salad dressing for $7.85. I could have added the veggie burger patty (the bun is not vegan) for the price of a regular burger at $11.95. Instead I opted for a side of dill pickles which had 5 small slices for $1.85. This is the only vegan option that they have. I've been vegan for over 3 years and eat at restaurants at least 3 times a week yet I have never been to any restaurant that doesn't even offer an order of fries, baked potato or steamed veggies. I bring my own mayo and margarine for crying out loud. This place has absolutely NOTHING that a vegan can eat. I was with other people who did eat a regular meal which they said was ok so unfortunately I didn't have a choice to eat here and this bowl of lettuce with a side of pickles for taste cost me $9.75. Even the small town of meat loving people I just moved to with 600 people are more accommodating than this place. I wasn't asking for a full course meal but come on, it's a kitchen. You can't tell me they didn't have any other veggies so how about adding carrots, onions and any kind of veggies to the salad not a bowl of fricken lettuce that I didn't eat. I will not return and neither will the people that brought me. Wish I would have taken a picture.

Yelp
Good food at a fair price. Pretty clean for a diner. I had the classic club and it was great! Made with real Turkey slices not cold cuts. Only downside is the spice they put on the fries. It makes them too salty and I like classic fries. Ask for your fries plain. Coleslaw was good and fresh, not oily. Food came to my table really fast and waitress was friendly. Left regretting I didn't try the pie!

Yelp
Pros: excellent breakfasts, decent service, variety in their menu, have a patio, good for families, run by a friendly Greek family Cons: it's very busy but there's usually a reason Verdict: A slightly fancier version of a country kitchen.

Yelp
Rather slow despite it not being busy. Food was a bit bland and tough to chew. Fried appetizers were pretty heavily battered. Not very impressed

Yelp
I had lunch and dinner here on the same day. Friendly fast service, basic but good eggs and toast for lunch for me. The real hit though was liver, bacon and onions for dinner at about 8:30 pm. So incredibly delicious. Perfectly cooked with real mashed potatoes and a lovely sauce. I ordered a glass of red wine and it tasted not so great (their wine menu is limited to two reds) so I spoke with the bar tender and she opened a fresh bottle for me. Much better. My companions enjoyed their meals of seafood fettucine, chicken soup and banana split as well as barbecued chicken. I'd definitely return.

Yelp
The gorge, sure, absolutely something to see. But do not waste your time, money, and generally well being if you are hungry. Food was absolute crap, in fact, gf had two fork fulls of her Alfredo, and ate what I didn't of my cinder block, store bought, typical triangular crap fish and shits. Yes I said shits. Not only was the food awful and came out at light speed timing (obvious red flag), they decided to still charge us for the UNEATEN complained about food, and had the oddasity to offer dessert (really? When we haven't even eaten a meal first?). So, because I could tell this happens frequently with customers, the total BS gift certificate (which by the way DID NOT EVEN COVER THE COST OF THE PLATE WE DIDNT HARDLY TOUCH) is only flippin valid IF you ever decide to come back and cannot be used to cover the expense of the current visit. There was an elderly couple who sat in the both next to us. His wife ordered fish and shits like I did, he had some other sort of pasta, both complained as well. The real shame is is that when you get places like these around some kind of attraction, you're bound to run into some shit holes who do not care about offering a decent product because they count on the roll in of people from all over who haven't really got much of a choice in the way of good eats in the immediate area. Shame on them for running a shitty managed, game playing restaurant where the customer doesn't matter (or their bowel movements for the next day). Only their $$$. DONT GO.

Yelp
We came here for a day trip to Elora on thanksgiving weekend and stopped here for lunch. 1. The service was exceptional! Waiters were friendly, kind and overall made the experience very enjoyable and relaxed. Despite how busy the place was on a Sunday morning, service was fast and on point. 2. We had the grilled perch (hoped for a bit more fish although the fries are one of the best fries I've ever had and I have high expectations). Also had the roast beef sandwich (wish it was heated up). And we had the turkey dinner (which was delicious!! Lots of turkey and delicious stuffing and cranberry sauce). Less than $50 for three people. Overall atmosphere was very friendly and clean and open. Had a very very good and delicious time here today and would recommend everyone come and try it out!! Beautiful town as well, make it a day trip like us!

Yelp
This place is a good do to spot for country cooking. Their lasagna was very good and I'm a lasagna snob. Family atmosphere. Good burgers as well.

Yelp
Very good breakfast. Big portions. Always super busy on weekends but worth the wait to get a table.

Yelp
I came here while visiting the Elora Gorge and was incredibly impressed with the kindness of our server as well as how amazing the food was! Our server, Annette, read my mind when she brought out two bowls of chicken noodle soup for my cousins and noticed my sad look look when I discovered how appealing the bowls were! No fake soup in this restaurant! I had the best grilled cheese I've ever had in a restaurant and the soup was quite superior than all the other bowls of chicken noodle you can find outside of Mom's kitchen. If I am ever back in Elora, surely I will go here!

Yelp
Went for breakfast and ordered the eggs benny..and can tell you with out a doubt the worst benny I have ever had in my life. The hollandaise sauce was an odd shade of orangy yellow and was filled with grease. It had no flavour and they poured it all over , could not even see the ham or egg underneath. When I told the server she asked me if I was joking. I assured her I was not and well..she did noting. When the bill came I was charged for my plate of gunk benny...The place is busy, the service is so so and the coffee is watered down..It's a skip for sure.

Yelp
My wife and I went to The Gorge for Sunday breakfast, not the first time we've been there and, as before the food was good and plenty of it. We were extremely disappointed in the service however. They advertise a bottomless cup of coffee at $2.55, served in a (circa) 6 oz. cup. The waitress brought the cup of coffee for me (my wife does not drink coffee) then promptly forgot about bringing around the pot to ask if I wanted more. When she finally decided to clear the dishes she asked if all was fine, my wife declared that I would have appreciated more coffee, her response was "Oh did you want more coffee?" I replied with a "Not now I am finished my meal." When time came to pay the bill, our waitress mumbled an "I'm sorry" about not bringing more coffee, and I gave her an "I'm sorry, I'm not leaving a tip". My 3 star rating is for the food, if I were to rate the service we received I would only give a single star. By-the-by, we got the short end as my wife informed me that the other waitresses were carrying the coffee pot to their respective tables. Not sure if I will be back to The Gorge for breakfast again as I do like my coffee in the morning.

Yelp
Ver good meal lots of pasta mushrooms were good great staff busy place but not full frat rice pudding

Yelp
The Gorge often has amazing food and large servings, a great place to take the family. For the most part the customer service is very good but can slack at times. I've only had one incident very recently where the food just didn't seem right but I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
A large breakfast place with lots of options on the menu. It's also a good size and is good for accommodating large groups (6 or more). The food is nothing over the top and is your typical breakfast fare, but at least the prices are reasonable. I got the 'hungry man breakfast', but really there is more value with the 'usual breakfast'. For an extra 3 dollars you really only get one extra egg, and 3 pieces of meat as the hungry man comes with 2 of each meat (sausage, bacon and ham) for a total of 6, while the usual comes with 3 of your choice of meat. Also, the bacon is on the fatty side, so I would recommend the sausage or ham instead. The only other thing I would have changed would have been crispier home fries, but other people at the table loved them. If I was meeting up with people in Elora again for breakfast, I'd definitely go back. I just wouldn't put the place on a pedestal just yet.

Vincent d.

Yelp
Had an excellent grilled perch dinner, only 14.95, but the eggs benedict at breakfast were poor, terrible sauce, deep fried 'home fries' in low-quality oil.

Francia D.

Yelp
Good food and service. Portions have god size. Family environment. The staff is friendly.I recommend it.
