Everytime we go to Montauk, we eat as much lobster as humanly possible, and this is the place to do that.
We come to Montauk at least two times a year and have learned to rent places with a kitchen because of all of the let downs at the local restaurants. I mean it's terrible sometimes, just horrible. But we come here for the beaches and the lack of people.
So as the hotel chef, I will say that this IS the place to go to buy everything you need for a great meal. Lobsters? They've got a huge selection, anywhere from one to five pounds. Oils, spices, herbs, fresh veggies, meats, fishes, condiments? They've got it all crammed in a barely 400sf shack.
I wanted to hate this place because the first time we went there, we missed closing time by 10 minutes, and they coinsidentily missed out on alot of money, but closing time is closing time, so we went to a place called Dulyea's(?), which was still open sold us a couple two pounders.
But the next day, craving scallops, went to Gosman's and found, as I said, everything I needed. Had a great meal that night of scallops, seared tuna, asparagus, and Japanese eggplant. The next night, more lobster.
So anyhow, everytime we go to Montauk, Gosman's fish market is our go to place for food. Until they piss me off a couple times or I find someplace better, but I don't see that happening...
