Worked a Will on full design and install of front foundation plantings. It was easy from start to finish. He listened. Provided helpful insight without being pushy at all. And he translated a high level vision I gave him into reality way better than I imagined. His team was prompt and did a tip top shape installing. I can’t wait to hire him again for the rear of house! Hire them. They are fantastic!!!

I love this place for everything it offers. The owners are amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and super nice. My garden looks incredible this year. The wine tasting is great as well. I bought a bottle of Cabernet. So delicious. And lastly their farmers market on Saturday is perfect. Just what you need.

Bought pansies and mulch there in April. Very friendly staff and the flowers are thriving more than 6 weeks later. I usually kill everything quickly including the ones I'd bought earlier in the year at Home Depot, so I'm impressed!

I can't thank Will at Gossett Brothers Nursery and his team enough for being so welcoming and professional in what was, for me, an unfamiliar process! I live in Massachusetts and I needed to order a tree to be planted in honor of my amazing aunt Deborah on behalf of my family. My uncle really wanted a flowering tree that would remind him of her each spring when it blossomed and each summer when the fruit arrived. My family chose a cherry tree and had it delivered to this nursery. Being an out of towner, I didn't really know how to navigate the process of having a tree shipped and then planted from a third party nursery. Will informed me of when the receipt of purchase went through, he coordinated the planting details with me and, subsequently, with my uncle, and then his staff planted the memorial tree. My Uncle and his family posted a picture of the tree and we are all so happy that there is now a living memorial to such a special lady. This is an excellent nursery, from the site I can see the beauty of their product, and from experience, I know first hand how committed they are to their work.

Yelp
Wonderful work and such nice people. Gossett Brothers finished renovating all the shrubs and pachysandra at the front and the back of our house as well as improving some other areas. It was a big job as the old plants were 35 years old. I couldn't be happier with the results. Will the manager came to the house and we made a plan, beautifully executed by Chris and Peir. It was 5 days of work. The end result is just beautiful. Now I need some perennials. Next year or this fall, we'll plant some trees. Thank you Gossetts! Pauline T. Stewart Road, South Salem

Yelp
I bought two hydrangeas last year from Gossett Brothers nursery. They were expensive (around $100 each because they were large). When I got them home I noticed black dots on the leaves. I contacted Gossett Brothers and they told me next year when the leaves came back they wouldn't have black spots on them. I sprayed a fungicide and assumed they would be fine this year. Now (a year later) they are covered in black spots and dying. They sold me diseased plants at a premium price. I informed them there was an issue and they told me it would be fine next year when it would be too late to follow up with them.

Yelp
We are out several thousand dollars! Buyer beware! We spent $18K on tree planting through Gossett, relying on the fact that on their website they claim their landscaping services are backed by "our full service guarantee for extra peace of mind." When the trees were planted, we asked what care they needed and were told by Will that 1x per week watering would keep them all alive. A few months later several trees started to look a little brown and I reached out asking what to do. Will came out and looked at them and said they looked like they were under stress from the drought but reiterated that with a good watering 1x per week they should all survive. Several died, and Will stopped responding to my emails. We called the owner, who came out and confirmed the trees were dead, claiming "watering is a complicated science best left to professionals" (we absolutely would have hired a professional if they'd said that originally) and "you should have been using a soaker hose" (a term we'd never even heard before from Gossett) and claiming "well you have rocky soil so sometimes trees die". They then claimed that their "full service guarantee" only covers their materials and not watering issues. To be clear, I have no idea or way to verify whether the dead trees are as a result of materials or watering issues. They offered to replace only two of the dead trees (5 were dead) and then stopped responding to me when I asked when they would come to replace them. However I do know that we relied on them and their "full service guarantee for extra peace of mind" and we are now out several thousand dollars. You'd be better off going with any other company that actually stands behind their work.

Yelp
The woman working inside the shop during the Saturday Farmer's Market was super friendly and engaging. She was willing to help with whatever I needed and really made me feel comfortable! They have a huge variety of plants and accessories plus other fun items like clip on bats (tis the season) and a shelf full of fun half priced items. I ended up picking up a raccoon felt purse for a steal and also some local honey cider. Prices were really reasonable - I would totally come back for all my planting needs if I were in the area. Definitely cool to check out the farmer's market (seems to be a year round market outside) and the people were very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
While driving Route 35 through South Salem last week, I happened upon Gossett Brothers Nursery as I enjoy browsing rows of flowers and will pull over at any chance to do so. The Hudson Valley must have some fine soil, proper rain and good morning sun because the entire outside was bursting with colorful plant life. Inside the shop, I would liken to a thrift store as there are many household items for sale that appear to be older in design and structure. When I read the 40% OFF all vegetable sign, I scampered as fast as my feet would carry me to the appropriate section, located off to the side of the main building. The tops of the green grape tomato plants appeared to have been a midnight snack for some neighborhood deer, but I found two that were not nibbled upon. Should I buy pumpkin and cantaloupe plants? At these prices, why not? So I took one of each and two Scotch Bonnet Pepper plants, all totaled under $17.00. Once transposed into my garden, the pumpkin and cantaloupe have grown ten fold, the vines are growing at an almost story book pace and heading towards my other vegetables, a detour may be needed. Overall, a wonderful nursery and great prices, the plants all have taken well at their new home and have already begun to produce some produce.

Yelp
You Get What You Pay For Owner Tom Gossett is ever-present and they have the most wonderful Farmers Market there every weekend. Very high quality plants and products in stock and well laid out. You may consider that his prices are too high until you get burned by a cheaper priced competitor. For example, I made the mistake of having a lower priced nursery in Katonah install ten hemlock trees. The installer did not mix the soil, manure and compost, did not cut the nylon straps after placing them in the hole, leaving them to strangling the expanding trunks, and did not cut away the top third of the burlap. Three died and it took me a year to get this delay-tactic genius to honor his guarantee and plant two replacements. I then spent a day unburying and cutting the year old, now tight nylon straps from around the remaining trees. In great frustration, I finally ordered one from Gossett Bros to replace the third dead tree. Tom, the owner, picked out a real beauty - a glorious eight footer - and showed it to me before taking any money. Tom, the owner, installed it, double mixed the soil, peat, manure. He bent down the top bail wires and cut out the top burlap. Tom's tree was $50 more expensive and it is now thriving - a remarkably nicer tree than all the others. I wish I had bought them all from Gossett Bros in the first place.

Yelp
I love Gosset Brothers Nursery. They have everything you could want in your garden, and can answer any questions you have. And the prices are better than other local nurseries.
