An old style state-owned hotel with reasonable price and simple breakfast, you get what you paid for.

A terrible place. Hotel is hard to find in a residential area. The appearance is typical Soviet. There are no towels in the bathrooms. No drinking water either. The hotel hosted a group of school teenagers that were very loud. When I wanted to have breakfast, I was told the dining room is set up for the teenagers, and I have to wait till they are done.

I've stayed at this hotel for 13 nights. Check-in was prompt and easy. I speak Russian/Belarusian - no problem. Not sure if they speak English. Staff at the reception were very helpful. The room was clean. Nothing super fancy but it offered everything i needed. I paid the lowest price though. Probably, my first room, in a long while, that was free of second smoke odour. The location is in the centre of the city - walking distance to everywhere downtown. Nice park, a grocery store and the city river are right there. I couldn't be any happier with my hotel stay. Next time I'm in Minsk - it will be this hotel again. Highly recommended.

Very good value for money. The doubles with private bath were clean and well kept. Good wi-fi in the room. Free drinking water from a water cooler by the reception. Staff spoke little to no English, but were friendly and helpful. The closest metro stop was a ten minute walk away, and there was a good Azeri restaurant only five minutes from the hotel. The hotel breakfast ranged from terrible to OK. The bar upstairs offered cheap drinks in a Soviet-flavoured setting and stayed open late. All in all, I enjoyed my stay.

I was in Minsk for business in 2013. Most of the hotels were booked for that time. I did not expect too much from 40 Let Pobedy, but I was wrong. The hotel was great. I needed a quite, clean, safe place, with a comfortable bad and bathroom to stay in Minsk and I find it at 40 Let Pobedy. ||||Cheap, clean, good hotel in Minsk, not far away from banks, park, metro station. Safe area. Very good restaurant with tasty food and a good choice of drinks at a fair price. Booked the room in advance via phone and email. The room was clean with TV, great bad, good bathroom and new furniture. Staff is very helpful (I don't know if they speak English). Continental breakfast included in the cost was the most generous breakfast I ever had in a hotel. Very tasty.||||The hotel also has a special room where you can iron your clothes for free. (They might have some special staff who might do it for money, but I know how to handle an iron :D )||||It's a non frills place. Probably you might not find English speaking staff, fancy rooms, European cuisine and fine drinks, but you will find an unforgettable atmosphere, clean, safe neighborhood, tasty food and great service.

After reading these reviews, I was a bit hesitant to book a room here, but then I decided that if I was going to visit Belarus, I might as well have a true Soviet experience.||My fears were unfounded. Since Belarus is now opening up to tourism, they’ve probably listened to the feedback and made improvements.||Shabby rooms? Mine was newly renovated (superior single room) and clean. WiFi worked great. Bed was very comfortable.||Terrible breakfast? Not at all. It was similar each morning, but good. Fried eggs, either ham or sausage, toast, tea/coffee, etc., prepared and served by a very friendly waiter.||Far-flung location? Not really. It’s true that it’s not on the main boulevard with the metro stops, but a 10-15 walk away. I found that walk interesting, with lots of local residents around walking their dogs, waiting for the tram, etc. ||Non-English speaking staff? Everybody I encountered had a basic level of English, and if there were any communication issues, they would use Google translate. All were friendly and smiling. Upon check-out, one woman even came out to help me bargain the taxi fare to the airport and then she told me to make sure to let everybody know that Belarus is great to visit!||Budget-friendly and clean. Soviet in name only. Recommended!

Stayed there a second time, in November 2020. Would never think of looking elsewhere. The staff are very friendly. They don't make up appearances. The room was nothing fancy, but clean. I also got a feeling that it was meant for children - so tiny the sink area in the bathroom was. Everything else was quite livable. Again, if you're planning to spend your vacation days at a hotel, then yes, you should be looking for some more luxury. I can't however imagine that such situation could be possible (i mean spending the entire day at a hotel). All in all , for the price you pay, you get a premium location, it's safe and quiet. There's Wi-Fi of course. A small cafe for a quick lunch. A good restaurant around the corner. The central park is 5 minutes away. Subway is a 10 minute walk. Walkable distance to everywhere downtown. Suits my needs.

It was my third stay in this hotel – it has quite good location and is not very expensive. As the name suggests, this very Soviet building was constructed to celebrate 40th anniversary of the Great Victory in the 2nd WW, in 1985. Therefore it is not very surprising that practically it is some kind of garrison hotel, with the stately red star neon over the main entrance. Actually it is in some sense the Soviet sanctuary, but quite nice. The stuff, especially ladies in reception, really majestic and serious , seem to be ex-soldier or possibly officer wives. So, if you like to be a little drilled, or, for example, to stay ignored by a minute or two, or if you like women who rarely smile - you'll be in seventh heaven. In fact they finally they appearet to be quite helpful and communicative – but we speak Russian quite good, and I do not know, if they speak some western languages. May be I am just sentimental and probably it explains why I used to stay there... The climax reminds me my early years in communist Poland – there were no unemployment, but everywhere you could meet plenty of people basically at work, but it was not very clear what they have to do. Here you will see many such a stuff ladies in aprons at every floor. The rooms are average, similarly as breakfasts, which were served at a bar called ”Epaulette”. The neighboring surroundings are quiet and very safe (there is plenty of uniformed people of both sexes), and it takes some 10 minutes to walk to the nearest tube station.
