This isn’t a hate review, more like feedback from someone who genuinely wants the place to do better, because the potential is clearly there.
1. Front Desk: Hospitality on Low Battery Mode
The front desk staff looked completely exhausted, as if they were on their fifth double shift without coffee. I understand hostel jobs are demanding, but for a guest, the first interaction sets the tone. A smile or a welcoming vibe goes a long way but right now, it feels more like checking into a government office. Maybe better staffing like Bharat who was helpful and humble, breaks, or morale support could help here.
2. Dorm Blankets: Cheap AC Bus Unwanted Nostalgia
Now the dorm blankets, this one really needs attention. The blankets provided felt exactly like the unused blankets you find in cheap AC buses… the ones everyone avoids touching. No cover, questionable hygiene, and no clarity on when they were last washed. It honestly made me wonder if the next guest and I were unknowingly sharing the same blanket life cycle.
3. Food: Great Taste, Health Not Invited
Credit where it’s due and the food tastes good. But nutritionally, it’s a microwave marathon. Around 90% of the food seems frozen, sealed, or half-cooked, reheated and served.
When you host travelers, backpackers, and long-stay guests, health matters. Taste alone shouldn’t be the selling point. Fresh options shouldn’t feel like a luxury upgrade in such dynamic prices.
Before this gets brushed off with “What do you expect for ₹500–₹600?” let’s be clear: you are asking for this price, and guests are paying it.
There are hostels offering better basics at the same or even lower prices. At the same time, there are places charging much more and still doing worse but that comparison doesn’t matter. What matters is what’s necessary, not what others get away with.
If these basics are ignored, GoStops doesn’t stand out it just becomes another hostel, relying on branding instead of experience.
