We stopped in on Saturday for dinner in downtown Cork before heading back to our hotel and enjoyed fantastic burgers @GBB, very near the Eireann bus station. My husband had the vegetarian sweet potato & black bean burger and I had a simply beef chargrilled - both cooked to perfection! Great place to stop for a good burger. Service was great, too. Charming place, snapped a bunch of photos to share the ambience.

Google
Nice cozy relaxing restaurant with delicious burgers which are well filled with goodies.Healthy options available but since it was my first time here I had to taste a burger & went for the pulled pork option.Lovely jubly.Chicken wings were great & the Americano burger had half a pickle & lots of cheese but otherwise lovely.Chips were an extra but tasted great. Second visit burger was a bit dry, otherwise everything was great.

Google
Delicious! We tried GBB for the first time tonight and we'll definitely return. The menu had many choices, atmosphere was cute and the service was very friendly and quick. Food was also very very tasty!

I was absolutely delighted to be there! Tasty food and very pleasant service. Highly recommend!

Google
It felt like a good place to go in a busy city. I had the halloumi burger and it was memorable.

Google
I have been here twice. Excellent presentation and flavor both times. First time it was an Organic Beef Classic and it was perfect. The second time I had the Vampire and it was good but a little dry. Expect to pay €11-12 for the burgers which I consider good value for gourmet.

Google
Wow what a great find! We are lucky and their service is great, as we arrived late and the GF just wanted snacks where as I was hungrier. They were very happy to serve us just one starter and a burger. One of the nicest burgers that I had ever had and it had black pudding in it. The service was excellent, not too attentive, but just right. The staff were friendly as well and the drinks with teh meal all reasonably priced. If I had been in Cork for longer I would have eaten there again. Well worth the visit.

Google
Lovely staff and the food is well priced. Burger was a little dry, but otherwise quite good. They have some great specials. All burgers are 10.50 with fries from Monday to Friday 12pm-3pm. Fries are free with all burgers on Saturday 12pm-3pm.

Yelp
So glad we accidentally found this place on our way to Merchant's Quay. Their menu and food is absolutely amazing! The restaurant is very cute and the staff was extremely nice. We had the vegetarian nachos for a starter which were so great. For our main dishes we ordered the chargrilled fillet of beef salad with blue cheese, the American classic burger, and the falafel burger. All were excellent. If you are ever in the area I really recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
One would think to get a burger at a restaurant called the "Gourmet Burger Bistro" but when I saw the specials board there was a salad that was calling my name. Filet mignon, potatoes, tomatoes, onion rings and mix baby lettuce with a blue cheese dressing: YES PLEASE!! I had been told by many prior to visiting Ireland that I must prefer steak somewhere because it tastes different, better even, than what we have in the states. The food is all locally sourced and there are much more rigid rules in regards to preservatives, chemicals, and processed food. I am so glad that I chose to have this salad with the delicious steak on top; It was excellent. I also tried my first Murphy's Beer here and it was quite good. I was famished so orders garlic bread with Dubliner Cheese whole waiting for my salad and it was so incredibly delicious. The server was lovely and attentive and even offered suggestions of pubs we should go to where we might see live music. The ambiance is simple, yet cute, and the restaurant and bathroom were pristinely clean. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people looking for a great, simple with no frills meal.

Yelp
As a tourist abroad from NY this place is a gem & if I ever come back to Cork this will be the first place I visit. Gourmet Burger Bistro not only has amazing curb appeal the food is also great. I went with the Chilli Burger (which has a 100% organic beef burger w/ jalapeño salsa and sweet chili mayo - I added monetary jack cheese also, the burgers come garnished with the flag of the country they are named after... but the "Chilli Burger" on the menu I think is a play on words for Chile (example of other burgers: Irish, Greek, American, etc.). The burger had a little kick with the jalapeño salsa but was tamed down with the sweet chili mayo for a perfect balance. The service was quick and polite, unlike many places in Dublin that i've visited & the food is reasonably priced. As soon as I was seated I was greeted by a server and brought ice water... thank the heavens, I was so thirsty and find myself always having to ask for water instead of it being brought as a curtesy with my meal. The place is very clean and waiting time on your burgers is quick. They had daily specials with both the burgers and dessert & have alcoholic beverages too. Vegetarians are also welcome, they have many veggie burger and salad options.

Alex B.

Yelp
Staff and service= 100% Not only meat lovers are welcomed here: also the vegetarians have a great chance of enjoying a very delicious burger and choosing from at least 3 different kind of vegetarian options. I had the special (see black board) which was a chickpea and carrot burger with Tzatziki and: fries! Loved them, loved every single bite of my burger. The most outstanding service I have experienced in Ireland, the staff was friendly, quick, helpful, just awesome! Very well trained I must say! I seems like that they always get quite busy, so if you really want to eat here you better reserve a table. Otherwise they´ll try everything to squeeze you in.

Yelp
I visited a few weeks ago and had a good experience. The burger was great. the chips weren't anything special. I'd tried to go a few weeks earlier on a Friday evening and couldn't get in. This time, I went for dinner early week and it was easy to get in (the restaurant was almost completely empty).

Mark C.

Yelp
went in for a breakfast burger which is a new creation ive never had before, have to say it was very tasty if almost too big to fit into my mouth! the chips were excellent as well id definitely go back and recommend to others. great location too

Nick S.

Yelp
Fine eats! Burgers were well-done instead of the requested medium rare, but they were still tasty, albeit a bit dry. The fries are the real stars though. I won't sugarcoat it; they're un-fucking-believable. Also - crushed baby potatoes with Manchego, chorizo & sweet chili mayo? I'll be back for you.

Yelp
My sister and I went here for dinner back in April. It is a quaint and modern bistro. I do wish it was a little warmer atmosphere, but all around was great. We got the set menu. It was awesome, either 3 course OR 2 courses and a drink for 20 euro. Perfect. We both opted for the 3 courses plus a drink. Why not, we were on vacation. She got the wings, I got the panko goat cheese and salad. Both got the Bacon cheese burger (they use 100% organic, irish beef, delish). Finished it off with chocolate hazelnut brownie and apple & mixed berry crumble. They nearly had to roll us out of there, but it was well worth it. We went back to our accommodations and slept very well after a long day.

Yelp
Gourmet Burger Bistro is a quaint little burger shop located off the water in Cork. While out exploring Ireland on a tour to Blarney Castle we made a stop in Cork and Gourmet Burger Bistro showed up on my radar. I ordered the Organic Burger with cheese and bacon with high hopes that organic Irish beef and their well-known cheese would be amongst the best burgers in Europe. I was served a mountain of a burger that was too tall to enjoy. The beef that made up the burger was very good; however, it was hard to enjoy the burger with the stack of lettuce, tomato, and other toppings. I ended up removing the excessive toppings so I could enjoy the simple beef, bun, cheese, pickle, and burger sauce. While the burger had good flavors, the bun was a little too dry and the bacon was of the European variety and did not do as much for the flavor as true American bacon would have done. The burger sauce was also a tad too sweet and was almost like a steak sauce, which conflicted with the super tasty pickled onions. At the end of the day, this burger had some solid components but just failed to pull it all together. Based on other reviews I saw I would guess their non-beef burgers and other burger variants are really good, or maybe American burgers are held to a different standard.

Shawn K.

Yelp
Fantastic little burger place. Everything was perfect. We all had a different burger. The Blue Cheese Burger was excellent.

Johnnie V.

Yelp
Superb food! The portions are great and everything you order is fresh and tasty. Excellent and kind service. They even have their own mayonnaise which is a nice surprise. Highly recommended! You will not be disappointed.

Georgie C.

Yelp
I don't know Cork at all and decided to check out this place based on John W's review below. If you've ever been to Bobo's, Jo's Burger or GBK in Dublin, this place is pretty similiar. In fact, I got the bluecheese and it tasted pretty much the same as the Bobo's one except for one very important difference. They ask you how you want your burger cooked! This was a pleasant surprise as everywhere in Dublin where I've asked for medium-rare they say they can't do it because of some draconian law from our nanny state. So I got a nice, pink burger with the tase and juices not charcoaled away. The burgers were about €12 each but they come with a nice portion of fries as well so that's alright value for a gourmet burger place. For dessert I tried the Apple and mixed fruit crumble from John W's review which is a bit pricey at €6 for the size of it. But you get what your pay for and it was quality. Steaming hot, bitter fruit with the perfect amount of crumble and icecream to contrast it. Quality burger joint and I'll definitely be back when I'm in Cork again. Note that it was packed when we arrived at around 7.30pm on a Saturday and we had a 15 minute wait so you might want to ring ahead if you like to be organised.

Dave H.

Yelp
So Cork isn't immune from the gourmet burger bug. Gourmet Burger Bistro initially seemed like a rip-off of the GBK chain, but there's more to it. For one, they've a far more varied menu than most burger places. Plenty of vegetarian options, good lunch menu, and lots for non-burger fans too. Oh, they've some great desserts too. Recommended.

Yelp
In town on business and stopped in based on the Google reviews. If you want fancy and foo foo, this is not the place for you. Simply a down to earth spot with GREAT food, good service and down to earth people. The burger called "The Major" was probably the best burger I've ever had and the fries were just as good. My wife had the shrimp and grits which was very good. As we were eating Major, the owner, came to our table to see if we liked our meals. I was surprised to see that we he came with a complementary slice of what he called "the Candy!" I was the French Toast from the menu. I'm a sucker for good French Toast and it was absolutely amazing! It was so good that my wife and I went back the very next day for Sunday Brunch. Yes, I ordered the French toast. Once again it was not only fantastic, but also very fun, with the old school R&B music playing. We will definitely be back when we are in the Portsmouth area. Major...I salute you!!!

Daniel S.

Yelp
Hi, i was here with my girlfriend 2 times and we enjoyed it very well. The service and burgers are great + including prices, but still it is a bistro. Anyway if you are looking for good and quick meal, go ahead :-)

Morgan S.

Yelp
Finally a burger joint that gives a crap about vegetarians. Not one black bean burger. Not something just listed as "vegetarian burger". But THREE different unique burgers, including a special. My boyfriend ordered the Hamuli burger, which he loved and wants to eat again. I ordered the special, which was a hazelnut and goat cheese burger, that was very delicious and crispy. There was also a falafel burger on the menu. Each burger was large and came with a bowl of fries. Very, very good.

Amit C.

Yelp
I was greeted with a smile. The waitress and a person who was either the owner or a shift manager were both gracious and kind. I ordered the lamb burger with fries and. Both were good and well worth the price. I would happily recommend the place based on my experience.

Jeff M.

Yelp
On our recent trip to Cork, this was the restaurant we went back to for an encore meal. You can order your burger medium rare (because its organic?) and that is always a good thing! The ambiance and staff were simply pleasant, and the value was the best we experienced-- this is the place I would go back to again and again...

Rory R.

Yelp
Oh man, I was soo looking forward to falling in love and giving this place 5 stars but I just can't. Everything was good and nice and efficient and well organised and clean and friendly but the burger just wasn't that good. It looked great, was big enough, had great extras but just tasted a bit like rubber. So sad. This is a typical yelp burger joint with 15 different burgers on the menu as well as various specials. There are a range of craft beers on the menu, tap water was topped up on a fairly regular basis, there was a Garfield cartoon in the loo and free wifi if you ask for the code and these are all huge plus points but unfortunately the negative points just outweigh the pluses for a better rating. The downstairs loo are is a bit ropey with the entrance to the kitchen directly by the toilets and the salad was left in open in the hallway between the two, they put chocolate in the cheesecake which is sacrilegious to me, but most of all was the burger taste. If you're gonna call yourself a burger bistro you need to provide the goods and for me on this day at least they just didn't deliver.

Camie T.

Yelp
The Gourmet Burger Bistro does exactly what it sets out to do - deliver high quality burgers. The restaurant is decorated nicely but is a tight space. At peak times, it would be difficult to get a table. Note: They have a lunch menu which is served from 12-5. I'm not sure if it is the same as the dinner menu with lowered prices of if the content is different. I ordered the BLT (which comes with mayo that is not stated on the menu) which was good. It wasn't crispy bacon but more like back back (aka Canadian bacon). The tomatoes were absolutely fresh and delicious. I didn't enjoy the fries but that's because I only like shoestring fries and these were a bit thicker and were hand cut and possibly a little underdone. My husband ordered a beef burger with cheese and said it was very good. He really liked the fries. We also ordered a side of onion rings and the portion was GIANT and the rings were HUGE. I did not have any of the rings but my husband said that they were just OK. He mentioned that the onions themselves were too big for the amount of batter.

Yelp
Only been here once, but I shall be back! Good selection of burgers on the menu, Good Price, Beautiful Presentation, with the country flag of your burger choice on a cocktail stick nicely placed in your bread. Oh I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Highly recommended!

Sean M.

Yelp
Small room in a great location on Bridge St near Patricks Bridge. Good atmosphere and nicely decorated. Very friendly efficient service. Burgers were fantastic, perfectly cooked - Great selection including lamb, beef and chicken. Average cost per main course €13.50 Recommended - Will definitely be back

Brian F.

Yelp
I could only describe this place as 'meh'! The burger I had was juicy but I found the menu and the character of the place uninspiring. I expected a little more uniqueness for what I paid. My opinion in general is quite passive, I wouldn't recommended the place as such. But hey, it fills a gap if your in the mood for a burger!

Paudie H.

Yelp
I know its called 'Gourmet Burger Bistro' but I have five words for you my friend...'Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas' ... they are.... amazing...seriously the chips are handcut and fried and the mushy peas are pureed into a little dish on the side and the fish is uber nice. The burgers are really nice too with fresh ingredients, its a PROPER homemade burger, yes this is fast-food but the quality of this fast-food is superb. The staff here are always super friendly and greet you with a smile when you come in the door. If you are in Cork and you want to get some good grub for reasonable prices, head up to Bridge Street and let your tastebuds be awakened ;)

Mairead S.

Yelp
The vegetarian salad (note: I am not a vegetarian) was the best salad I've ever had in my life. It had caramelized apples, goat cheese, roasted beets, and greens. DELISH! The burgers were very tasty and the atmosphere was relaxed. LOVED THIS PLACE !

Alarra R.

Yelp
We just went for dessert and drinks but the atmosphere was nice, staff was friendly, and they brought out food to other tables that looked great! I wish we would have had dinner here before we left.

N N.

Yelp
Great burger place in the heart of Cork. Delicious veggie burger options: one with sweet potato and black beans and another falafel option. Awesome light, flaky buns. Regular fries ok--the sweet potato fries on our neighbor's table looked better. Great ambiance with lots of locals.

Eileen D.

Yelp
Lots of options! I tried the mushroom bruschetta and had the falafel burger - both were really great!

Brian C.

Yelp
Always good fresh food. Reasonably priced. Away from the high st which is nice. Space is a bit small but nicely decorated and bright. Staff is lovely and welcoming too.

Carrie O.

Yelp
My husband and I split the portobello burger here, and I really liked it! It comes with beets on it, which was unexpected (though it does say it does on the menu, haha), but really delicious! I like beets, though. The goat cheese it comes with was a little TOO much. They just overdid it a bit. I'd probably ask for that on the side if I ever end up here in the future. The prices aren't too bad, and the quality of the ingredients seemed top notch. Worth checking out, even if you're a vegetarian! They have a Halloumi "burger" as well, that's grilled Halloumi w/ veggies. My sis got it, and she said it was delicious. :)

Suzette J.

Yelp
Great choices and superb burgers. The tiger prawn appetizer was wonderful.

Molly S.

Yelp
I was there weeks ago and had a tuna melt, it was fabulous. Great service and all 3 of us were impressed with our meals.

Catherine C.

Yelp
As an American traveling abroad, I was craving a good burger and this place definitely delivered! The meat is nice and juicy and the fries are crispy - just how I like them! I had the lamb burger which was a nice choice and my sister had the traditional beef, and there was nothing left on our plates at the end. Would recommend!

Sylvain B.

Yelp
Alright, if you're looking for a burger this is one of the best place in Cork city center. What I really enjoyed there is that the chef isn't afraid of being inventive and just try unusual mix of condiments and flavor that might look odd on the menu but turns out to be awesome for your senses. Will definitely go again when feeling like having a burger. Also, it's more than correct price wise.

Aoife H.

Yelp
I really like this place, always find a nice little crowd in there. The staff are always friendly and polite. The spicy lamb kofta burger is to die for with homemade mango salsa. Very special! The fries are delicious. Homemade mayo etc. always amazing. Looking forward to my next visit :)

Leigh F.

Yelp
I love this place, simple menu, great staff. Fantastic, food. Reasonably priced. Will return

Tatil S.

Yelp
Spicy lamb kofta, full of Mediterranean spices, was just perfect. They've also got quite a few wines and desserts to choose from, as well as various vegetarian burgers that sounded quite interesting, but we have not had the chance to try any.

Tom M.

Yelp
Burger joint is incredible. The recommendations were right on point and service was super friendly.

Veronica W.

Yelp
We had lunch at this lovely spot in May. The women working there were very friendly and the service and food were both very good. I had the soup of the day which was served with bread and my husband had a burger. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone who will be in Cork.

Trish M.

Yelp
Loved the food in here. Best burger in Ireland (and chips too) and trust me we have been searching! We have been traveling Ireland from the US and my son is a burger fanatic. We had almost lost hope until we found the 'Gourmet Burger' - just excellent. They have vegetarian options too and the whole place is just lovely. You may think the wait is a bit but trust me the wait is nothing for the food you get. A good burger is worth the wait! So, go in and just relax and have a drink while you wait for the best there is:)
