We were here on the weekend with very close friends. There is a place that sets up picnics , and because it rained, they moved it to this covered pagoda at the government house. Beautiful place, so close to downtown. If you’re in Edmonton and have a chance, check it out.

Filled with people taking wedding or engagement photos... It's not a very entertaining place for kids... there's a nice Totum and Korean pagoda as well

Rich in history with beautiful architecture. Walking the grounds feels like connecting to Edmonton’s past, and the building itself is impressive inside and out. Staff are welcoming, and the space is often used for events, making it both practical and inspiring. A true landmark.

Another great place to visit during the summer with our kids. There is plenty of green space for the. To run around, as well as educational things to peak their interest and public art that we all appreciate. We have yet to take the free tour inside the building as we are waiting for our youngest to be just a little bit older. The architecture of this building is amazing from the outside and I can only assume that the inside is just as good, if not better.

Impressive sandstone mansion built in 1913. It served as the residence for the lieutenant governor for 25 years. In 1966 it was established as a centre for important state functions. This is a wonderful building. I would recommend coming here. To enjoy its beautiful setting and the other buildings and art installations.

This beautiful building is rich with history, which just enhances its significance!! The beautiful architecture and fine detailing can be found throughout the building and are complimented by the exceptional art (both its own collection and pieces from the provincial gallery).

Yelp
Government house is a landmark in edmonton. It used to house the famous royal alberta musuem which moved to the downtown core. Now its used as offices and is a glorified dog park. I often come here because of the amazing trails. I often see other dog lovers here as well. Just below the pagoda there are some wicked trails on the river valley leading to the downtown core or the west end near the valley zoo. I have explored extensively and the trails can range from easy paved to steep trails in the river valley. Frequented by runners and cyclists these trails are busy and the most safest in the river valley. I have yet to see any homeless living in the woods which are common in downtown heading east on the river valley. There are breathtaking views any visitor to edmonton should see here. A short 5 min walk on a trail gets you some of the best views of edmontons west and downtown. Theres ample parking during the day and its easy to get a bite or drink afterwards due to the central location. You honestly just need 10 minutes here to see it all. But spend an hour hiking down to the river valley and the views are worth it!
