Government House is a beautiful historic landmark with stunning architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. The view from the hill is amazing, overlooking parts of Nassau and the ocean. It’s a great place to learn a bit of local history, take photos, and enjoy a quiet walk around the grounds.

You cannot get up close and unlike reports on the internet the changing of the guards does not regularly take place. Still worth passing by if you are close by.

I must be missing something cause what i saw was just another abandoned building in serious need of a paint job. The whole area around the Government House was run down with grounds unkept, public utilities jury rigged to work (light poles, electrical boxes) ripped open, exposed wires. Streets filled with potholes and most"stores" if not selling either t-shirts or jewelery were abandoned. Obama must be the mayor, makes sense all of a sudden.

If you are visiting now in December 2021, do not go here as they are renovating and you will not have access to go inside. I think the place would be rich in history but the guard there was kind enough to tell us they were not open. The people are so friendly.
