Battambang: Cambodia's fast-rising cultural capital - SilverKris

"An imposing, flamboyant mansion designed by an Italian architect during the period when the region was under Thai rule; its grand brick-and-mortar facade is a vivid visual reminder of the city’s layered history and Western influence. Though the interior is off-limits to visitors, the building’s ornate exterior and scale convey the opulence of a bygone era and anchor the surrounding colonial quarter." - Calum Stuart

Hello first off I really recommend subscribing to the governors email list because that way you can really stay in touch with what's going on at the state government level which is how I found out about the opportunity to visit the governors mansion for Christmas time. There was no wait what so ever and I really enjoyed the fact that there was a guitar player playing and singing songs for entertainment along with Santa. This is only open around Christmas time for a short couple of hours during the day but ounce you go inside to the left there was a gingerbread house and several real Christmas trees all beautifully decorated. They gave out candy canes of course and we got to tour the entire first floor of the mansion itself. If you have the time I would definitely recommend it to anyone the state police will tell you exactly where to park across the street ounce you get there.

Attended the Annual Holiday Open House and met Governor Malloy in person! Beautiful residence. Santa and Mrs Clause were inquiring into Christmas wishes. Staff was helpful and kind.

Once when I was a Mormon Missionary, my companion and I were walking on the street behind this house. We entered through the back gate (it looked like all the other houses in the area). We were going to share the gospel of Christ with everyone we met. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by men with guns drawn. They escorted us out. We left them with a Book of Mormon and invited them to look to the goodness contained therein.

Very disappointed this year. No Santa at the door when we arrived about 1pm No music and no governor. We will go next year because it is a tradition to go on Fri afternoon but hope state will do a better job for its citizens next year.Almost felt as if there was no effort to make it an experience . Get it together Conn.

Was there for an event. Nice place, but it could use an update and a good cleaning. The windows are dirty.

Yelp
I was blessed to be able to attend the governor's residence annual holiday tour today that was available to the public to view the beautiful display of Christmas decorations inside the home of the governor's mansion. The last I was in the mansion is when governor Rowland was our governor. Its been renovated a few times since then. They have volunteers that contribute their time with the decorating and they start it over months ago to get it all decorated in time for this event which they do every year. They had tours available for you to give you the history of the mansion. I learned the mansion has 19 rooms and 9 fireplaces that the State of CT bought back in the year of 1943. It is definitely a beautiful time of the year to visit the governor's home. We also had the opportunity to see Santa Claus to take photos with. They were taking donations and you could buy ornaments that were displayed on the Xmas tree form$25 each. If you weren't able to go this year make sure you attend it next year.
