Once the home of a colonial governor, it now offers guests a rare mix of history, elegance, and modern comfort. Located in the peaceful Embassy Quarter, it feels like a tranquil retreat away from the city’s noise. Rooms are spacious and decorated with teak wood and silks, while thoughtful touches like fruit baskets and local sweets add warmth. Dining is another highlight, with the breakfast buffet praised for its mix of Burmese favorites such as mohinga and international dishes. Meals are served on verandas overlooking tropical gardens, creating an atmospheric setting. The fan-shaped pool and lotus ponds add to the sense of escape, but what makes the hotel truly special is its staff, who are consistently described as attentive, friendly, and welcoming. It remains one of Yangon’s finest hotels.

Exactly what a hotel should be! Fantastic stay here - beautiful rooms, stunning setting and a real throwback to old Rangoon. The food was delicious and the bar was a real welcome break at the end of each day. All the staff are so friendly and attentive and made the stay so special. This place will be hard to beat!

Where do I even begin….. The Governor’s Residence exceeded every expectation. The hospitality was some of the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. The property itself is breathtaking, with colonial-style architecture, beautiful decor, and an atmosphere of refined relaxation. Everything about this place—ambience, service, and comfort—is world-class. I would return in a heartbeat. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team for being so caring when I fell ill, ensuring I was well throughout our stay ❤️

A comfortable and well-maintained residential community with good security and friendly management. The facilities are decent, and the location is convenient for accessing key areas in Yangon. The fine dining options nearby add a nice touch for residents who enjoy quality meals close to home. Parking is adequate, though can get busy at times. Overall, a great place to live with a peaceful environment and reliable services.

I stayed at Governor’s Residence in Yangon for two weeks in May 2025, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The room was fantastic – spacious, elegant, and full of colonial charm with every modern comfort. Their High Tea is a real treat! Beautiful old colonial architecture, with such warmth and history! Even the ladies room (ablutions) are aesthetically pleasing! A must see! Pop it on your Yangon to-do-list!
