My wife and took an all-day tour, with lunch, from our hotel in Malta to Gozo , with a local Maltese company. It was a long day, but very interesting as our guide was extremely knowledgeable and conscientious too in taking care of everyone throughout the day, and it must have proved to have been an even longer day for her - a real trooper!
On a personal basis though, I found it very difficult to maintain concentration when our tour guide switched from English to French (her French was truly excellent!) and vice-versa, when talking about anything of interest, and that's even though I do speak fluent French! It just made it doubly longer, and by the end of the day just a tad boring. If I was to take an excursion again I would would go for one where the chat was going to be just in English, and I understand from the holiday rep. in our hotel that this is indeed possible.
However, we found the island to be so different from Malta, greener, cleaner, and indeed more interesting in many ways, with spectacular views and buildings. The coast line was amazing, the boat trip, although short in duration was a real gem!
