On the Grid : Gozsdu Sky Terrace

"Perched on the highest rooftop of Budapest’s bustling Gozsdu Udvar complex of interconnected courtyards, Gozsdu Sky Terrace is a perfect place to get away from it all while surrounded by the mismatched roofs of downtown, as the city lights glow below. Open all week long and covered in winter with a glass dome, this hotspot is always reliable for relaxing evenings and late nights out with upbeat music." - We Love Budapest

On the Grid : Gozsdu Udvar

"Gozsdu Udvar is a historic building complex tucked in the heart of downtown Pest, recently renovated to house many of the city’s most popular bars and restaurants. It is an eccentric little heaven of adjoining courtyards that continually buzz with intermingling locals and international visitors, as cultural events and open-air fairs enhance the fun fascination. Let Gozsdu Udvar’s twinkling lights lure you in to become pleasantly lost in this lively labyrinth." - We Love Budapest

A variety of cuisines, bars, party places. From karaokes to fancy restaurant and bars. Some of the restaurants don’t have the fastest service, however you will definitely enjoy the atmosphere of the area.

Gozsdu Court May surprise you with a great atmosphere and local artists. This is what happened to me and I was thrilled to see local arts and handcrafts and talk to their makers. It is worth visiting, pubs/bistros/ restaurants looked great. And Halloween spirit was in the air.

We had a blast. It is definitely less touristy than the ruin bars. Mostly locals late in to the night. Really, really late. Go to the Blue Bird Karaoke bar. It was packed and we had so much fun. High energy and friendly. Prices we not jacked up too much at the bars. Some of the restaurants were a little pricey compared to a normal place out of the tourist and very areas. Must see in Budapest if you are looking to party.

This hotel was a huge disappointment and absolutely not worth the rating it currently has – the reviews are misleading and overrated. If you are traveling with family or expect even basic comfort, avoid this place at all costs.||Main issues we experienced during our 7-night stay:| • No heating in the apartment at the beginning. We only received portable radiators after repeatedly asking.| • Broken window in the living room – never fixed.| • Toilet ventilation didn’t work – maintenance came, confirmed it needed replacement, but nothing was done. The smell remained throughout the stay.| • Broken chair – replaced only after asking multiple times.| • Low-quality basics – old towels, uncomfortable pillows and mattresses, gaps in the bedroom window letting cold air in.||Noise: The last two nights were unbearable. It was exactly like trying to sleep with a nightclub wall next to your bed – loud trance/techno music with heavy bass, shaking walls, wardrobes, and beds until 4:30 a.m. This is not “city noise.” This is structural vibration from a club, and it is simply unacceptable. People cannot and should not be expected to sleep under these conditions.||Breakfast: very poor quality for the price. The scrambled eggs tasted awful, clearly cooked with cheap oil, leaving a bad aftertaste. The “barista” was the same person clearing tables, often absent, and when she returned she was irritated at guests for not reading a handwritten sign telling us to wait until she was available. I was simply standing and waiting politely when she snapped. Very unprofessional.||Service: staff were unhelpful, evasive and slow to respond. Even when we contacted them in the middle of the night via WhatsApp, the only answer was “it’s noisy in the city center, talk to reception in the morning.” When the noise repeated the next night, the hotel was “fully booked” and could do nothing.||👉 In summary: this hotel failed to deliver the most basic expectation – a place to sleep. Our holiday in Budapest was significantly ruined. Do not trust the high average score – it is misleading. If you value your rest, your comfort, or your money, look elsewhere.

Great spot if you enjoy being in the heart of the city and close to nightlife. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and public transport makes it easy to reach other attractions. Can get a bit lively at night, but that’s part of the charm.

No homeless people around, as someone mentioned—maybe around midnight, but earlier in the evening the area is completely fine. The neighborhood is fantastic, full of character, with countless restaurants and bars that are tempting to try. It’s perfect to visit with kids until the evening, after which it turns into a lively party scene with drinks, food, fun, and even some adult entertainment 🤣. I felt completely safe (didn’t stay past midnight, so not sure what happens later 😜). In the morning, it’s ideal for breakfast. The area has restaurants, karaoke, gaming machines, and clubs, all adding up to an amazing, vibrant atmosphere.

The food was tasty – I had the Philly steak sandwich, which was enjoyable, though the presentation could have been a bit more special. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and quick to help, which made the visit pleasant overall. One downside was that they didn’t allow a simple glass of tap water, and the chef seemed a bit irritated when we asked for no salt on the chips, which felt unnecessary. On the positive side, the plum beer was excellent, with a generous size and fair price that really stood out. All in all, a decent spot with good flavors, but with a few small details that could make the experience even better.

Tasty food (Philly steak sandwich) however nothing special especially presentation. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would not allow a glass of tap water! Chef wasn't happy that we asked for no salt on the chips 😆 Plum beer very nice, size and price very good.
