GPO Is one of my favourite cafes in town. I always feel so welcome by the beautiful staff. Their food is delicious, coffee is amazing and hospitality is on another level. It’s become my regular cafe for coffee a couple of times a week, the staff know mine and my friends names and our orders which makes us want to keep coming back. Keep up the great work guys!

Great tasting food and very friendly service! We had the steak burger, open sourdough and creamy mushroom, everything was fresh and presented beautifully. But the meal is not complete unless you try the brownie, don't leave without trying!!! Love the decor, especially being in a historic building. Will definitely come back!

Checking out another place for breakfast and GPO was on the list. It opens early on the weekend - a bonus if you're an early riser. It has a great atmosphere the staff are friendly and welcoming. The menu has a good selection for breakfast. I've been told the coffee here is excellent so much so two were ordered.

Historical and quint is a great way to describe the GPO Bar and Cafe. A good variety of delicious breakfasts and lunches to choose from. Service was second to none, very happy, professional, and efficient. Casual Sundays begin here.

I loved the ambience. Street side cafes with huge space is my ideal cafe to have some food. The cafe is amazing. Staff are very friendly and easy to get along with. I went for just a coffee but ended up with some brownies and also my favourite wagyu burger. The staff recommended coconut frappe was such a refresher and I absolutely loved it. The colour co ordinated plates and tables shows how much does this cafe believes in attention to detail. I don’t go to city much. But, yeah whenever i will, I would love to visit this cafe.

Basic Menu. Food was satisfactory but I’m too old for semi-disappointing breakfasts on holiday. Price reflected the food, which is good, I’m glad I didn’t pay more for it. Sourdough was basic. Was asked how I’d like my poached eggs. (Does anyone order hard poached eggs?) It was a red flag that came true. Eggs were over cooked in an egg mould… microwaved? Food came out too quickly, if you know what I mean. English spinach was nice - the part that was sautéed - half of it was raw. Weird. Ate everything because I was hungry. Atmosphere was nice but gave a low score for the music, killing me softly: famous songs butchered by unknown singers. The volume was good though, I could hear myself think. Friendly service. Forgot my water. As I was walking out I saw someone eating a crispy skinned salmon dish that looked delectable. I suck at ordering.

Not a bad place for breakfast or lunch. A little pricey for what you get. Had the Angus burger with chips, which you have to pay for separately. Chips should ALWAYS come with a burger. The end. I mean you have to be struggling and desperate. My new rule is - if you have a side sold separately from a burger or main - I’m taking my business elsewhere. Angus meat patty was probably the best I’ve ever had, hands down. Some of the more uncultured among us might think that it’s a raw meat patty that wasn’t cooked, but that’s how it comes folks, the best Angus beef comes like that. Wife had the Devonshire tea which came with some mighty impressive scones. It was like eating a scotch finger biscuit…yeah it was yum. I think they can do better than cream that came out of a can. It wasn’t the best as it just started to melt as soon as it came out - and one little squirt is not enough for two big scones…massive failure there. Coffee was good, but then again, the bar is set when you have Campos coffee

Great food, awesome coffee, and surprisingly well priced. Would highly recommend the GPO breakfast ( Big Breakfast), well priced, big serve, and tasty. Been here on several occasions and never been disappointed.

Yelp
Have been here a few times before, usually friendly , attentive and quick to serve. Not off to a good start today. Sat for ages waiting for someone to give us menus, even pressed the little buzzer that says "press me for service " with no result. Went up to the counter and asked if the buzzers were working, bored look and response of "what?". Had to ask for menus, which "miss bored" eventually brought out to us. Both ordered the GPO breakfast. Crispy bacon, eggs (any way), grilled tomato, relish and toast. I asked for "well done toast", got lightly pan fried bread, not toast, and not well done. Tasteless, very ordinary breakfast. Bacon and eggs can be quite yummy, not this one tho. Not worth the effort of getting up early on a day off to have brekky here (only serve breakfast until 11am), a shame as earlier visits have been very enjoyable. Service non existent, food tasteless, boring really.

Yelp
Great coffee, check. Great bfast, check. Ability to sit inside, outside or outside under cover, check. Should you try this place, absolutely.

Yelp
I have been here a few times, but this was the first brekky visit. I liked the variety! My bf had a brekky risotto, and I found myself sneaking some of it. I had the avo, toast, mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. It was more than I needed. The coffees were fabulous. The only downside was there was no table service (there used to be), and it's slightly more pricey than other brekky spots. It's a fabulous place for dinner. Food is amazing, mind blowing sticky date pudding, but it's been a while since I've been there for an evening.

Yelp
The number of years I've been visiting GPO is too many to publicly confess to you fellow yelpers, suffice to say I've seen many owners come and go in this cafe/restaurant spot. The latest incarnation seems to have something in their formula working in their favour because the space has it's groove back. There's a new atmosphere in the air when you walk into the old GPO building on Toowoomba's Margaret Street. Now serving Campos Coffee it is one of the only places I'll get coffee when visiting Toowoomba. Should you ever be driving through, do stop by if only to view the majestic old GPO building.

Yelp
The GPO is one of the only cafes in town which has Campos coffee, which to me is one of the best tasting beans you can get. These guys are well educated about coffee beans and know what they are doing. Great service and delicious coffee in a great location:)

Yelp
Great coffee friendly people good food One of favorite laves to have breakfast coffee when in Toowoomba

Yelp
Hell yes! I can't be arsed going into the wild goose chase that led me here but the smoked pinto beans & haloumi breakfast has put me in a great mood for the long drive I have ahead of me. Super yum! Nice staff, got to sit outside in the sun sheltered from the icy blast for a minute. Ta T-Bar, it's been real.

Yelp
I've been going to the GPO nearly daily since it opened in 2000. I agree with Lani P that the new owner has got the GPO's mojo back. In particular Nevade (apologies if that is mis-spelt) is great at front of house, remembering your favourite drink, where you like to sit etc. The food is uncomplicated and practical. The service is strong and reliable. I am happy to spend my money @ the GPO.

Yelp
Came here on Easter Saturday, the place was busy and we were in a group of four which made finding seats difficult so we were put on the bench seats which wasn't an issue, other than the people behind us having a table made up for them on the spot. Service was average, between delays for ordering meals, delays in getting food and forgetting food. Food was average with the poached eggs rather dissapointing. Not the best experience and definitely doesn't match the price for food (over 35 dollars a head) .

Yelp
This place has been around for a long time. It also seems to bounce up and down in quality over the years. It has reached great heights in its history and been the place to go and at other times slithered down down in quality and service . The good news is it is presently on one of its up phases so with some caution we have returned to it. Coffee is better prepared and service is where it should be. Always in its favour is the great venue it is sited in.

Yelp
Dessert here is amazing. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable and the service is fantastic. Loved it.

Ken H.

Yelp
Often drop in here. Good coffee, always a paper, variety of places to sit to suite the mood. Interestingly coffees on the weekend never seem quite as good as the weekend. I am not sure why.

Cheryl C.

Yelp
Stopped here for coffee with my parents in September and were impressed. Very helpful and friendly staff and the coffee was excellent. We returned for lunch on the same day and had a tapas style lunch. The spring rolls were some of the best we have had. Loved the red geraniums lining the old stone building. Top marks.

Yelp
Sat in the cafe for more than a half an hour no one came to take an order. This cafe has gone down hill so much.
