Cafayate in Argentina Is the Wine Town You Need to Visit Now - AFAR

"A luxury resort overlooking surrounding vineyards that offers high-end amenities—spa treatments, golf, and horseback riding—and a mix of accommodations including a small hotel and private villas, all set against valley and Andean views." - Ari Bendersky

Grace Cafayate (Cafayate, Salta) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We’re still scratching our heads as to why Argentina’s northern province of Salta isn’t more famous than it is. With its effortless wine-country elegance, the dramatic snow-capped peaks of the Andes serving as a backdrop, and a low-key capital city that drips with colonial charm, it just seems like it ought to be crawling with visitors. If it’s lacking anything, it’s a hotel on the same level as the best ones in places like Patagonia and Buenos Aires. Fortunately, that’s a problem that the Grace hotel group is more than capable of solving — and as it happens, they’ve done it by more or less splitting the difference between the low-key charms of a rustic Patagonian estancia and the high modern style of a Porteño boutique." - Tablet Hotels

This was by far the worst hotel experience we’ve had in Argentina, and (ironically) the most expensive. We stayed one night and were initially impressed by the employees, view and facilities. That impression vanished around 1:00 a.m., when we went to bed and discovered numerous small insects crawling over our pillows, bed, walls and floor. Completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that presents itself as five-star. We were moved to another room, but the experience was so disturbing that we barely slept. As if that wasn’t enough, at 7:30 a.m. we were woken up by loud drilling. After reporting it, the drilling stopped, only to be replaced immediately by heavy hammering. Unfortunately we were not able to sleep anymore. We raised our complaint both via WhatsApp and at reception. We were told someone would follow up multiple times and waited patiently, but no one ever did. The complete lack of accountability and aftercare was very disappointing and this hotel definitely does not meet five-star standards in any way.

Avoid unless you want to get scammed. The management is clearly trying to rip of tourists and has "special deals" with local providers. I booked this place because of its nice activity brochure. I was quite surprised a half day of horse back riding was quoted for 170USD, however a few days before arriving at the hotel, I informed me the provider increased the price to 270USD and that it didn't include transfer. The experience was OK but for 1h45 riding and some wine and cheese this is a scam, with transfer the total cost was 310USD and the hotel was unwilling to apologise or give any gesture for sudden increase. I ended up contacting the horse riding provider separately and was told the usual price for a half day experience like this is 70USD. I also did horse riding at a more luxurious hotel in Salta (House of Jasmines) for 56USD for 2hs. In addition the room was quite dirty, the floor and carpet in particular. The taxi they recommended tried to charge me 40,000 pesos, for a ride from Salta to airport (15min max) even though House of Jasmines offered a provider for 15,000 pesos. You also have to pay for water and there are no coffee or tea facilities in the room. The staff were unhelpful and I wanted to leave right away, the scam really upset me and the hotel was unwilling to support me at all and even though i was in a panic attack they didnt care. I hope the hotel reconsiders their approach to hospitality, it was the most uncomfortable hotel experience i ever had. Avoid at all cost unless you want to get scammed! The hotel location and foor were good but absolutely not worth the stress!!

We did not stay at the hotel, opting out to rent a house located at the same property. However, we stopped by every day for a glass of wine and the view. Absolutely gorgeous! They offer local rose that is very unique and has french flavor. One of the days we came for dinner and it was a surprise. Food is not something special, I would call comfort food. The quality of preparation and presentation was very good. Unfortunately, they close relatively early for Argentina. Place was nearly empty, with 4 more people only.

The perfect hotel from which to explore the vineyards of Cafayate. The rooms are modern and spacious. The service is impeccable. And a massage after a long road trip from Salta was welcomed.|It is worth ordering your eggs early as the chef does not seem to start cooking them when you first ask!

Had an excellent stay. The attention from the staff was excellent. The hotel is incredibly quiet, clean and well maintained. They were very accommodating with all of our requests. Massages at the spa were one of the bests I’ve had. Sometimes the music during breakfast was a bit intense.

I do not recommend, and will never be coming back to this hotel. The hotel itself and the activities are nice. However, you can expect 0 standing. The receptionists are absolutely not nice and not helpful. We had an issue with our room, so they changed us without even apologizing ,to the same room category - that was disgustingly dirty. The floor were covered by dust, the windows disgusting, and the bed sheets were even stained. After we complained they finally offered to change us room for the second time (to the same category) - Still without apologizing - that was also dirty, after the receptionist (Leandro) ITSELF checked the room. They were being sarcastic pretending that was us that were too complicated and it was not « clean enough for us », as he said. They did not even think about upgrading us, and lied about not having other rooms available. The hotel is empty, and all the rooms are available, we checked. Secondly, they also tried to make us pay the VAT of 21% on our accommodation as we were paying by Credit Card and we are foreigners. You should check on your reservation as it clearly states that « Foreigners who paid with a foreign credit card, debit card, or via bank transfer must present a foreign ID and/or supporting documents from the national migration authority to be exempt from the 21% VAT ». Be careful. Definitely not a 5-stars hotel ! Only positive points: location, restaurant staff and spa staff are 10/10.

The winery hotel is really wonderful. Nice views, great rooms, quiet and privacy house! Nice foods of the restaurant. Reception service has been kind. The SPA and massage service, including the facilities are so wonderful. The only short-come should be the English ability of the waiters in the restaurant because offer us the wrong dishes we ordered even we have double confirmed with them with the menu. For a great winery hotel , it should improve its welcome language for international customers.

An amazing experience, excellent reception staff Edith and team so helpful, so I could work as well and vacation. Herman & staff at restaurant always providing top quality breakfast and quality regional food dinners and room service. They even catered a superbowl party for us with american food.|We had a jacuzzi under the southern sky stars, massage and spa services on site. All the amenities of 5 star hotel in the middle of a beautiful remote location. We will come again.
