Overall 4 stars. |The Great: Spacious rooms with comfortable pillows in a good downtown location. Funky college basketball decor worked for us (but might not be everyone’s cup of tea). Also liked that the window in the room can be opened a bit to let in some fresh air. |The Terrible: 1) We had to “request” the room be cleaned— a nonsense remnant of Covid (which was 5 years ago!). Hotels don’t do this anymore. We paid for the room, which should obviously include maid service!|2) EV car chargers in garage didn’t work. Especially annoying given they charge like $25 to park there. |Overall we would be happy to return if these issues are addressed.

Stayed one night. Cute interior design, fun, different. The problems where the bed is to firm. Was up and down all night. Tried to sleep in the chair but nothing to put feet up. The shower was either to hot or cold and the shower head was about to break away from the tile. Thermostat kept changing . For example set it on 72 for the night. Very loud when it runs so that contributed to not sleeping. At 5am the thermostat was set at 76. To warm in the room. Has to monitor the thermostat, because it kept changing.

Really liked this hotel overall - and the staff in particular was excellent. The rooms are comfortable; the beverage/snack selection was good; the restaurant offered good breakfast options. Like other Graduate hotels, the decor was charming (very sports-focused at this one for obvious reasons) and the location near the campus was excellent.||My only complaint was that our room was right off the indoor basketball court (it's carpeted, and the balls are soft), which people were using while we were trying to sleep. It was very loud. If you stay here, I would ask for a room that is NOT right off of the indoor court on the 3rd floor.

My sister and I shared Room 311, a double Queen with a balcony (not a great view) on the third floor for three nights (FriSatSun). The room was quiet and comfortable and decorated with lots of fun fabrics, lamps, and Carolina basketball touches. The bathroom has a large shower, very fluffy towels and nice amenities. The room was serviced every day which we really appreciated. The hot water kettle worked well and was great for tea (which I brought with me) but the instant coffee packets provided by the hotel was not very good. There are no ice machines for guests but the front desk staff provided a bucket with ice upon request. Best pro: the location! An easy walk to the main section of Franklin Street and campus. Also bought coffee and drinks in the on-site "Tavern" during our stay. Helpful, friendly staff all around.

Beautiful unique, boutique hotel located on Franklin Street and convenient everything! The rooms are elegant, comfortable and unique making this a true UNC Chapel Hill experience! Lovely covered balcony for sipping coffee in the morning.Thank you, Maria for introducing us baseball moms to this beautiful hotel. Will book here for future events for sure! Bar and kitchen are convenient, delicious, and well stocked!

My daughter and I recently stayed at this hotel to visit and tour UNC and Duke. The location absolutely cannot be beat, you can walk to everything and you are right in the heart of Chapel Hill and campus life. The rooms are well done and cozy but could use a water glass or cup in bathroom. Only option is to use paper coffee cups, but if your room is never serviced you are out of luck. The bartender at Trophy is amazing. ||Unfortunately, the reviews regarding poor service at this hotel are well deserved. The staff are pretty apathetic and unhelpful or cheerful. A couple in their 80s came in and asked for a bell boy to help with their luggage and the front desk staff rudely told them there hasn't been a bell boy since 2019. I almost helped them myself! We stayed 3 nights and our room was never cleaned despite requesting 2x and setting a requested time. So given the high price very little value here aside from great location.

The location to Franklin Street and the University was awesome. The rooms were just OK as they seemed a little dated, and I know to some extent they are meant to be that way. For the price that was charged I was expecting more. You are primarily paying for the location.

What a great location and the staff (Cheyenne,David,Maria,Fidel and all the bartenders) are outstanding. Attention to detail is amazing. We on 5th floor with a view of Franklin Street. Loved it. Regular rooms are small but nice patios. Suite was nice and roomy. The kids with the one year old got that! Indoor basketball court with soft and quiet balls was fun. Micheal Jordan's room was cool and very much like his( I have been in his room at Granville Towers since his roommate Jimmy Black and I were friends) in my opinion. Parking was expensive but easy in and out. Food was good. Sad they were out of wings and burgers but sweet potato fries were good.

Yelp
This was a cute hotel. I loved the decor and the it's a great location as it is close to a lot of food options and so close to the school. I liked the basketball "court" in the center with all the stuffed basketballs. I witnessed some kids playing in the area and I thought that was so nice to have a space for kids to play in. The gym is the least favorite part about this hotel for me. It had a good variety of equipments but room is the size of a closet.

Yelp
Off-street, indoor parking garage is a great benefit to this hotel. Easy entry & exit. It was especially handy the week I was there because of the rainfall amounts. It rained almost every day. It was very expensive. $27/day. That's way too much in my opinion. I quickly learned that Hilton had purchased all of the Graduate brand hotels nationwide. It's a great concept. Good move by Hilton The bad thing is they aren't operating like a Hilton property yet. Not even close. Some things are very odd like there's rarely anyone standing at the front desk. There is a room off to the side of the front desk where they hide until someone approaches the desk. Another problem is unless you like instant coffee, there's no coffee available until 7:00am. I'm sorry but that just doesn't work for me. I get up at 6 and the FIRST thing I have to have is freshly brewed coffee-not INSTANT!! To make matters worse, even when coffee is available at 7:00, they charge you for it! It's not that I can't afford coffee it's just that this is THE ONLY Hilton property I've ever stayed at when it's not available at 6:00am and complimentary!! Another problem was that one of my Hilton benefits as a Lifetime Diamond member is I am supposed to receive a $15/day food & drink credit. However, their operating system in the restaurant/bar is not compatible with the front desk & billing so there are no room charges! Right! You can't charge anything to your room!!! So there's no way to receive my drink & food credit. Also, my room was not clean! I've posted a picture taken of my bathroom floor when I arrived. Pretty gross. Through all of this though I must say that the people were very nice!! And I received a gift basket and a thank you note for my stay. It was a nice touch.

Yelp
This was my first time at The Graduate. I thought the theme was cute. Basketball court style flooring, basketball backboards, and MJ all over. I had a large room with a balcony which would have been lovely if it were not raining the entire time I was there. The employees were friendly, and my friends and I went down to the bar for a drink before they closed. Dex was running the show and gave us some great information and recommendations. The beds were super comfortable, the showers were nice, my only complaint was the coffee. I love the little kettle, it heated up super quick, but their instant coffee was terrible. They recommended coming down in the morning to go to the coffee bar, but I am unfit to be around people until AFTER I have had my coffee.

Yelp
I was in the area for an event and I was excited to stay in the downtown area of Chapel Hill. Unfortunately, we had a pretty bad experience at this hotel-- we booked a room online but we were changed to a different type of room last minute when we checked in. It was supposed to be an upgrade, but we were placed in a connected room (separated only by a door). Our neighbors were speaking at a normal volume, but we could hear everything word for word and they could hear us as well, so there's absolutely no privacy. We requested a room change but were told that it wasn't possible, so the front desk associate told us we could get a refund on one night out of our two night stay. We were unable to sleep barely at all that night due to children playing right outside our door (there's a basketball court in the middle area of the hotel), our neighbors chatting, and the AC being extremely loud. We decided to leave the city early because of our bad experience at the hotel, but the front desk now said that we wouldn't be refunded our last night. We explained the situation and they said that they would have someone reach out to us to discuss the refund issue. We got an email and I responded but they've since completely ghosted us and haven't responded. I would not recommend the Graduate.

Yelp
This is a super cute hotel. I've been to Graduate hotels in other cities and they were so disappointing so this location was a breath of fresh air. Although the decor is super busy and colorful and patterned galore, I loved it ! A hotel with Charm. Super cool Michael Jordan mock dorm room, that was so cool to see. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Nice size bathroom. Hotel staff was pleasant. I really enjoy this area. A college town , since UNC chapel hill is only maybe 10 minutes from the hotel . Lots of nice eateries around and a target down the street

Yelp
We have stayed at The Graduate several times for UNC Football weekends. The location is great. Our room accommodations have been very poor. This season we booked a king room, ended up with a queen bed with matte on the floor. Clearly, our room was given to someone else. This weekend, we booked a room with 2 queens as our son was staying with us. We check in, the desk person knows there are 3 of us. He sends us to the room with one King bed. We call downstair, he immediately knows the issue but didn't have the courage to tell us as we check in. They send up a blow-up mattress. Our son basically slept on the floor as the mattress deflated. You get all that for over $700/night! They did give us free parking. There is no breakfast, only bad coffee. The hotel is not trustworthy on reservations and not worth the price per night. Our freinds had a similar situation with regards to room issues.

Yelp
The staff at this hotel is about as friendly and helpful as they come. The first time I stayed at a Graduate hotel (in Richmond), I found the college theme mildly irritating, but having stayed in them several times since, I'm starting to find it kind of charming. I stay in hotels a LOT, and honestly, it's nice to see a brand that goes out of its way to differentiate itself. If you stay at a Graduate hotel, you'll never forget what brand your staying at. One of my previous pet peeves, no coffee service in the rooms, has been rectified. They now have kettles and tea-bag style coffee packets, so you no longer have to schlep to the lobby in the morning to get a cup. Every time I've stayed at this location the room has been spotless and well appointed, and they have Turner Classic Movies on the cable, so I'm a happy camper!

Yelp
A very good hotel in a perfect location. The Trophy Room bar is a nice spot to get a drink at any time of day or evening. Rooms are comfortable and clean, although the water pressure in the shower was poor.

Randy G.

Yelp
The Trophy Room is an amazing place with outstanding food. I'm stunned that this place doesn't have more reviews. Such friendly service and atmosphere. Was awesome to Mia Hamm hanging out here too! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken has fantastic flavor with a toasted bun.

Yelp
Lemme tell you about Mike at the Trophy Room attached to the Graduate Hotel in Chapel Hill. If his Billy Joel likeness doesn't cause you to double take, his customer service will! Affable, approachable, down to earth, and attentive. He was a 100% staunch advocate of their burger--"I really think it's the best in town..." -- And he was right. Pair it with the old-school crinkle fries and you've got you the perfect, all-American comfort food. (Disclaimer: I was in serious need of that comfort food). Smack dab in the middle of beautiful Chapel Hill, NC, this boutique/theme hotel is off-the-hook cool and so is Mike! (And speaking of Mikes... my room key was Michael Jordan's old student ID from back in his UNC Tarheels days). Y'all need to get here!

Elyse N.

Yelp
Interesting hotel. Interior of the rooms doesn't seem to match the "graduate" theme. Maybe the interior is supposed to be old school in that sense but not sure because it's all still very different. As soon as I walked into my room I noticed the ac/heater was loud. I'm okay with that because I like white noise but I'm not sure..? I think it's normal because my room is conjoined with another and I could somewhat hear theirs was on and running too. Might be an issue for someone who likes absolute quite. Personally, I didn't mind because I like white noise. My room faces the front street and you can't hear cars or anything outside. Nice window to look out of and people watch. Haha exactly what I'm doing now as I write this! I'm on the 4th floor and it appears all the 3rd floor rooms have large balcony's so that's also something to keep in mind. Location is great. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby. Even one of those small city Target's just two blocks away.

Yelp
I've been working for a major airline for over 35 years. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels in my career. If your looking for a Unique hotel with great hospitality, very clean rooms, and a quiet place to rest. I highly recommend this place!

Todd H.

Yelp
All the people at the hotel were excellent and helpful. North Carolina themed, Michael Jordan room. Check out the carpeted basketball court in the 3rd floor

Yelp
4pm on a football Saturday in Chapel Hill NC. Went to graduate hotel bar with a large group for pregame cocktails. Bartender said they were closed. Went across the street to the Crunkleton. That's a great bar. Dropped $300* and worth every penny. The graduate bar is not a serious place. I would avoid it.

Kelly B.

Yelp
The bar staff are super personable - The bar manager Massey makes sure everyone is taken care of and feels like family. He's a die hard Tar Heel, so what's not to love? Drinks are crafty and the food is delicious. Burger & fries are a favorite but other items to try are the chicken sandwich, the salads, the shrimp tacos. But those peppery French fries- wooo doggie.

J K.

Yelp
Excellent location. Close to UNC and all the restaurants on Franklin Street. Staff very friendly and helpful

Kevin S.

Yelp
We found this location and hotel to be perfect and in the heart of everything happening on UNC's main street ( Franklin). The room were very clean and quaint and decked out with UNC theme. The staff and managers were very friendly and helpful. This is a great choice!
