Graduate by Hilton Eugene (Eugene, Oregon) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just under two hours down the Willamette Valley from Portland is Eugene, Oregon, a small city that is, in its capacity as the home of the University of Oregon, one of the hippest college towns in the western United States. And with the advent of the Graduate Eugene, its hotel scene has grown measurably hipper — this one-time Hilton in the city’s downtown district, a few blocks from the campus proper, is now decked out in Ducks green, and its reception desk is a display case featuring dozens of historic Nike running shoes." - Tablet Hotels

Thought this place would be a fun stay for a quick "girls" trip to take my daughters to a Women's Ducks basketball team play a game. The lobby is pretty cool with lots to look at, including a giant wooden pull-duck and a life-size "Sloth" from the Goonies mannequin. The key cards are also interesting—look like old school ID's with various names and faces. The room was very plaid and not large, with a decor that felt like it was torn between wanting to be mid-century and frat house. We were on a higher floor and the view of downtown Eugene wasn't bad. But I think the darkness of the colors and lamps were a little more scary than relaxing. The bar/coffee spot was expensive but alright. Basically, if you're into sports (specifically, the Ducks) and eclectic, maximumist decor, you'd probably love it. When I decided to add on a night rather than travel over to our other favorite hotel in Eugene, I was shocked to hear the price had gone up $700—this is not an exaggeration. While the ambience was fun, it was not worth $980 to spend another night.

We stayed here during this past weekend for the U of O vs Minnesota game and have some takeaways. First, never check in on game day. While the staff were up front about the check in time and polite, the away team stays at this hotel which takes up a chunk of the rooms. Additionally, we were told we would be “lucky” if there was a room available at 4pm (which is the check in time). We left our bags with the front desk and went to the game. Upon return, they were nice enough to have brought our bags up to our room which was very appreciated. Once in the room, there was a note left for who I can only assume was the previous guest as it wasn’t titled for us. It made us question whether the room had been completely turned over given the left over note and a packet of cookies that appeared to be partially opened. The bar/restaurant in the lobby were excellent and the breakfast options were also great. The rooms themselves were extremely dark and made it harder once the sun went down to see anything without turning on every single light. Finally, the garage was not working on 2 of the days we were there. The valet were having issues as well and did their best to work around the issue. Overall, the location is great and the staff are incredibly friendly. However, we were still disappointed with the rooms themselves, the gate issues with the parking garage (which required us to run up to the valet to get help each time), and the whole check in process given the price per night of the hotel.

Google
Hotel was amazing as always. But the Valet was the best part they had our car(that didn’t fit in the garage) available at all times. Very welcoming and helpful with info on places also. My son was looking for a certain type of stuff and he pointed us in the right direction. Will definitely be coming back and using valet also.

This hotel is a beautiful reflection of Eugene. I have not had such excellent valet service in a long time. I had barely turned off my engine when the valet open my car door and welcomed me. Spencer (valet) gathered my luggage, took me to the Reception desk, then showed me around the lobby, giving a brief synopsis of the hotel's unique decor, before taking me up to my hotel room. Every time I walked through the lobby, he greeted me by name. I was impressed with his professionalism and felt quite pampered as a guest.

Google
When I arrived Charlie and his vallet crew were very helpful and even checked to make sure my rig would fit in the parking garage! The lobby staff were also very helpful as I had forgotten when I was supposed to do with my vallet ticket and answered my quizzical look with empathy. The room was nice and had a lived in feel. And while everything was old school "old boys club" which I wasn't expecting it was nice and well put together. The catering staff made an excellent meal for the meals my event had, flavorful and varied for multiple palets. When I had a question later for Charlie he even told us about the "Golden tickets" we may see and what the purpose was. Thank you.

Google
Rooms are okay. Small for what I'm used to As far as service goes, I don't need much service. But when I went to buy a water the guy didn't say a word The thing that really pisses me off about hotels now is when there's no free coffee. I mean how much profit are you really losing by providing a morning staple? Instead, this hotel decides to provide you with really bad instant coffee in the room. Another normal Hotel amenity is having a microwave in your room. Instead, this hotel requires you to go downstairs and cook your food in the coffee shop at a community microwave. And of course it's becoming more common for Hilton to not honor their "Honors" program by denying award points and stay credits because it was corporate billing. I've seen it all around the country and every individual hotel has a different excuse. A couple of them had spilled the beans and said it was their regional manager telling them not to do it. I can't wait for my company to dump this place. Be sure to watch this review. A reply is coming soon and it will be the same standard canned corporate response telling me to contact them at a specific phone number. This ain't my first rodeo.

Google
Positive: The style of the hotel was spot on for a college town! The property was very clean and maintained. The room was amazing! Negative: I wish that the hotel had a more inclusive menu. Most of the food options are very casual and geared towards a sports bar. It would have been nice to have more upscale dinner options when you wish to enjoy a nice meal. All of the food was very good!

A Fun, Duck-Themed Stay in Eugene||I had a great stay at the Graduate Hilton in Eugene. The décor is fully University of Oregon Duck–themed in the best possible way—fun, nostalgic, and perfectly tied to the local spirit. The details throughout the hotel make it feel unique without being over the top. Staff were friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was memorable. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Eugene, especially UO fans!

Yelp
Pros: Really great location downtown...easy walk to lots of restaurants and breweries. Staff in the bar was friendly and helpful. The room had a fun retro vibe that felt cozy and welcoming. Cons: Bed was not comfortable... too hard... needs some cushion. Which is disappointing since I loved the retro vibe. Due to the uncomfortable bed, I would probably stay somewhere else next time. But otherwise, it's a neat spot!

Yelp
Woody, warm, whimsical with a... waffle lamp... pic included. Cool place to lay your head for the night; chock full of kitsch and personality with a nod to things local (Nike and the Ducks). Also, quiet and in a good location.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Cool vibe from this hotel in the heart of Duck country. Very nostalgic for a Nike guy like me. Rooms were fashion to look kind of like dorms but a bit dated, perhaps this was the intent. Only stayed one night but ate at both restaurants, one for dinner and the cafe for breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Too many people are looking for a 5 star experience at these Hilton properties but this isn't a Waldorf Astoria for god sakes. It was fun and the bed slept well...Mic drop

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and beverages. They have a decent menu and the food is actually quite good. The service was very good considering how busy they were.

Jeanine P.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Eugene, hands down. Staff is absolutely the most fantastic group, rooms are awesomely themed for the Oregon Ducks, I can't say enough good things about this place. Keep it going and you will have a loyal customer for life

Yelp
Great location! Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Decor has character and the room keys are so fun! I appreciated the cleanliness of the room. I did have a problem with my room being on a lower floor above the huge AC condensers outside. They were very accommodating in relocating me to a different room.
google avatar

Ann C.

Yelp
Attentive front desk and nice bed in the rooms. The hotel is right next to downtown and hiking trails. Best area to be when visiting. The hotel is also walking distance to many vintage/thrift stores. A comfortable and fun place to be, right on the center of everything. And I believe the University is not too far from hotel, would recommend this place.

Yelp
Dana, the GM, made things right for us after our last stay. Leading first with empathy about the noisy neighbor situation made all the difference. I am currently having a very relaxing stay with my UO freshman and I will definitely be back. Excellent service and good food at the Trophy Room - the birria tacos were delicious.

Yelp
We stayed for IntroDUCKtion and it was fun and festive, and was the centerpiece for parent events, too! I really applaud the clever UO theme in each room and around the hotel. I'd look here first to see if they've room before checking other lodging options. I did have a small hiccup with purchasing parking when it was included but the staff easily resolved it, which is great customer service!

Yelp
I got to stay here due to a work/business. The rooms are extremely unique. The art around the room made me feel like I was a student at a university. Duck logos all around because "GO DUCKS!" The beds were comfortable, shower pressure was great, everything was clean and tidy. There was a pinecone lamp hanging which is pretty awesome! The rooms were quiet. I slept just fine. Staff here are friendly & got my room key fast. They do have a restaurant here but it was closed due to a private event. Next time I come here, I'll try some of their food on the menu. PLEASE give KEEVER a raise because that man deserves it! He was extremely caring and very nice.

Yelp
Spent the night before 'IntroDucktion' at U of O. Was greeted very well. All staff was very nice and ready to help. One of our two rooms wasn't ready. No problem, we left our luggage in the room that was ready and headed to dinner. While at dinner, we got a text, saying the 2nd room was ready. We requested connecting rooms. No problem! The place is full of items from U of O. Somehow they have done it tastefully and not too much. On a 95° day our rooms were comfortable. Beds heavenly, linens nice. No shortage of hot water. Food in the bar tasty and fresh. Also ample parking under the building. We felt safe there. A non sketchy neighborhood with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Would stay here again!

Yelp
I love the graduate hotels. I love how unique. They are decorated based on the city they are at. Super close to downtown and it's just amazing. The beds are comfy and the rooms are spacious. Highly recommend the graduate for your future stay.

Yelp
Super cute hotel if you're in town visiting the University of Oregon or running a meet at the renowned Hayward Track. Our visit started off a tad rocky. We are here with a big group (track team). It was close to 3pm and our room wasn't ready despite everyone else's in our party being ready. After a long day of traveling from the East Coast, we just wanted to get into our room. The bright spot was that the 5th Street Market is across the street and visiting that cute area occupied us. The first thing you will notice upon entering the Graduate is all of the University of Oregon and track and field decor. If you aren't a ducks fan before coming, you will be when you leave. The decor continues in the rooms, too. There is duck wallpaper in the bathroom and University of Oregon and track and field decorations throughout the room. Be warned. The bathroom is probably one of the smallest I've ever had in a hotel room. It took a little acrobatics to maneuver in there! Our track team enjoyed the Top Golf area located inside the hotel. Be sure to reserve it. The food setup was pretty impressive and highly rated by some rather picky teens. I did use the gym. It's small (3 treadmills) but they do have Pelotons if that's your thing. Poindexter Coffee had decent coffee and a rather good breakfast sandwich. I ordered a sausage sandwich and was quickly reminded that I'm on the West Coast when it came with avocado! It was messy, but really tasty!

Yelp
Best. Hotel. Ever. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the past 45 years. This hotel is amazing, because the staff is amazing. They text you to check in on you. It is fun and lively and in a great location. I was not familiar with the Graduate brand and I'm a 45-year Marriott top-level points person. They just converted me.

Jeania

Yelp
Very comfortable and fun hotel. I like the unique decor related to university life and track town. We had drinks at the bar and breakfast ; both great and had the best sleep. The bed was very supportive.

Yelp
We decided to stay at the Graduate because the photos looked so cute. I probably should've read the reviews here first though. The ambiance at the Graduate is great, with lots of cute decor and a fun theme. The rooms are dated, and are not cleaned well. We found someone's hung up used washcloth in our room when I finally used the shower. The bed was OK but the air conditioner did not work well and it was really musty and my husband spent the whole night sneezing. They do have a small coffee shop that's open early and the coffee was OK there. Just be on cleanliness alone I wouldn't recommend it.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Really like the decor of this hotel, really unique. Great location, beds are comfortable and the toiletries in the rooms smell great
google avatar

Ray S.

Yelp
Well, it could have been way better. We arrived early and were told to come back in two hours and the room would surely be ready. Well, it was 5 hours later when our room was ready. Then we go to use the bathroom sink at 10PM only to find that the pipes below were not connected. We let them know in the morning and they were repaired which was great. .Well let's try breakfast ..............forget it. I had a crab omelette that was full of vegies and no crab and the waitress never asked why I never finished the meal....Try the Hampton Inn.

Yelp
This place is great! Beds are comfortable- great pillows. It's decorated in Oregon sports kitsch - but not over done. The bar downstairs has lots of games & comfortable hang out seating. One night we paid the $75 & had the Top Golf lounge almost completely to ourselves. Very friendly staff & great location in town.

Yelp
This is for a stay at the Graduate Eugene for two nights. This was, for us, a great home base for a college tour of UO. We arrived to a cute gratis gift welcoming our "duckling" (admitted student, still deciding) which she absolutely loved, down to the pencils and the chocolate duck. The hotel charges $24 a night for valet (vs. $18 for self park.) Check in was a breeze and professional. Service was an overall positive experience, with the exception of one front desk staff (male) who was unnecessarily sarcastic and officious by phone, and didn't seem comfortable in a customer service role. Hopefully a one off, as all the other staff we encountered at the Graduate were helpful and professional. The guest room features duck wallpaper in the bathrooms, collegiate decor and is very clever in tailoring itself to amplify the colors and themes of your favorite university. There is instant coffee and an electric kettle in the room, and a mini refrigerator as well as made-to-order coffee and expresso bar downstairs open in the mornings. Basically everything you'd want or need for a university visit and a hotel stay, including Malin and Goetz products in your bathroom. The one other negative was an odd moldy smell in the bathroom, which wasn't fabulous. Overall a positive stay. Recommended for families touring UO who like thoughtful, ironic collegiate styling.

Yelp
The front desk was extremely helpful and we got an early check in. We love our room! Very pretty ,comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel!

Kid D.

Yelp
This hotel is probably one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed in. When I got in the room it reminded me of the movie Boogie Nights. The bar and the staff were really nice. The room was clean and together. The pool tho was a let down for sure. Would I stay here again sure. It's cool to look at all the history on the lobby walls alone.

Yelp
Why would anybody want to come here? I went to prom here way back in 2004. I'm a Hilton fan, and there's a reason this is isn't called a Hilton anymore. You'll find better accommodations elsewhere.

William F.

Yelp
My review was not meant for the graduate in Eugene, Oregon. I've heard great things about Eugenes graduate hotel which is why I book a room in the one by the university of Washington. That the hotel that was completely discussing with mold and no water pressure in the shower and the food was gross.

Jamie H.

Yelp
Great location, cool vibe. Although the bathroom was super tiny(my only complaint) the bed was crazy and had nice blanket and pillows. Coffee bar downtown was perfect for a quick bite. Walking distance to restaurants and the Saturday market. Would definitely recommend and stay again
google avatar

Yelp
If youve graduated, then this cheesy, tacky hotel isnt for you. Not sure what the allure of faux wood wallpaper is or the paddle on the wall or the gross bed frame or the stained sheets or the demonic looking decor. At $200+ a night, $22/night for parking, this place is insane in all of the bad ways. 2 stars because the bed was semi comfortable. Everything else was subpar and just weird. Also the water is either hot or boiling hot. Apparently the lines are crossed somewhere and they havent been able to fix it for nearly a decade according to the engineer. And the tv remote didnt work as the cherry on top.

Yelp
This rebrand of the Hilton has panache and cool. However, basic functions are problematic. I was here on a conference. I went to eat brekkie and it was freezing cold. These elephant heaters didn't help at least not at 8 am. Also they actually ran out of coffee. I saw the conference organizer at the front desk begging for some to be brought to us. Ouch! The room was cute and stylish, but no tea bags only coffee. For me as a tea drinker that little oversight was a pain. Understaffing is a problem at all hotels lately but this place needs some serious increases. I hope it happens. The Duck theme is nice but fundamentals are critical.
google avatar

Lissa C.

Yelp
I love this place. A definite must if you are in Eugene or visiting UofO campus. It is located in their downtown area with free parking just a cross the way. Unfortunately we weren't able to book a room due to no availability for the weekend we were there. So book early! We did go for happy hour at their bar area. We ordered a turkey club and a spicy margarita. So tasty! Their sandwich was huge! Shared between two people and we still had leftovers. The atmosphere is super cute with lots of history. They also have a coffee shop. We didn't get a chance to try this but they had a decent size menu. There are games you can play in the bar area as well. Probably a great pregame location, however thinking it may get packed. A must see when you are in Eugene.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Formerly the Hilton, the Graduate Eugene has been beautifully refurbished and updated. Next door to the Hult Center Eugene, underground parking, clean and comfortable rooms, lots of nearby, walkable restaurants and cute stores, this is a great destination hotel in the southern Willamette Vally. Inside the Graduate Eugene is the Poindexter Coffee Bar and the Trophy Room Restaurant and Bar - very comfortable, very convenient after a long travel day. Service was great, in the hotel, in the restaurant, and in the bar, fast and friendly ... just the way we like it. The Graduate Eugene - Five well deserved Stars. I am looking forward to returning.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Convenient location downtown Eugene by U of Oregon. Nice enough front desk and two restaurants that alternate at 2:00pm. The rooms show their wear, bathroom cramped and walls thin for a loud and rowdy clientele. Barely earned three stars, will probably try another hotel next time.

Coast W.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay. Great location. One star off for instant coffee in the room. We ended up stumbling to the nearby coffee places to get a good espresso and hand pie.

Yelp
We had the best time! Check-in was easy and the ambiance was comfy. We had a corner room with a beautiful view. The space was immaculate and kitschy, enhanced by the UO Alumni key cards and DND felt flag hangers. We went to the Trophy Room restaurant and had the best Clam Chowder ever, that was totally enhanced by the Staff who were awesome!!! We also had the Artichoke Dip with Bay Shrimp, Steak Frites and the brownie dessert. Soooo impressed by the food! Stay here...it's a treat
google avatar

Angelina R.

Yelp
My mom and I stayed here for 4 nights. Our hotel room was pretty and consistent with the UO theme. The hotel guests were super friendly and helped us with anything we needed! The food in the trophy room was very good. The staff around were very nice and ready to help. I definitely would stay here again if we pass through Eugene again.
google avatar

Julie A.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I cannot give this hotel a good rating based on the cleanliness and condition it is in. I've stayed in the Tuscon graduate hotel and loved it so I was excited to get a reservation here. Very disappointed!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Really good hotel. If you are looking for a place to stay, that is not the upper level cookie cutter hotel. This is the place. In central Eugene, easy to get to everything. Tons of restaurants, bars, and things to do nearby. The staff is phenomenal. Good bar restaurant in the lobby. The rooms are great. So many cool little touches. Comfortable beds. The food is really good as well. They reached out after my stay and john sent me a great note back to my response. Love, accompany, or hotel that cares about their gas and their experiences. Will be staying here again in the future.
google avatar

Sonya W.

Yelp
This hotel is wonderful! The rooms are so inviting and artistic, as well as being relaxing, and has an excellent air conditioning system. The Concierge "Aneetra" ( I apologise if I misspelled her name) was absolutely delightful! She gave us the scoop on the local restaurants, and directions to them. She was so genuine and friendly, and was just lovely! Really enhanced our stay here at the Graduate! If you need a place to stay in Eugene, Oregon, I highly recommend this wonderful hotel!

Bolero T.

Yelp
I had better sleep at the airport than this hotel . House keeping keeps knocking on the door asking what time im checking out ( room is paid till afternoon ) im not coming back on this hotel .
google avatar

Basket O.

Yelp
Service was disappointing. My group had dinner in the Trophy Room. The food was not particularly good, over salted. The drink options are very limited and the menu was not even accurate. Finally my 3rd choice was available. The server told us they would validate our garage parking, but when we went to the front desk for validation they said they would not but not to worry it was only a couple of dollars. We spent $8 for 3 hours when street parking was free and the garage was empty. They can't even validate their own customers' parking for giving them business?? There is no reason to come back here.
google avatar

Angie C.

Yelp
The customer service is impeccable! I have attended multiple conferences here and always feel so welcomed by hotel staff. Rooms are always super clean and catering staff are on top of ensuring food and drinks are excellent and plentiful. And there's Dustin, who goes above and beyond to connect with guests and make sure they always have what they need! Highly recommend staying here!
google avatar

Robbin M.

Yelp
Cute and trendy hotel located in downtown Eugene. Walking distance to 5th St Public Market and many other trendy restaurants. Clean and comfy
google avatar

Sandra V.

Yelp
Stayed here for a conference, and it was a great experience all around. The vibe is 80's frat house party with a slice of academia, and I like it. They had a full size statue of Sloth from The Goonies, which is a movie I grew up with. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The conference food was pretty good, mostly chicken/ veggie meals, but solid. The service was great! They had a full staff, attentive and friendly. I also appreciated that they had a coffee station, and several couches all around for people to relax and mingle. It was a fun atmosphere, and I would come back for another visit.

Susan J.

Yelp
Ambience very unique and clean. Check in was easy and friendly. Convenient location down town Eugene with secure parking garage.
google avatar

DeAnne V.

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. The rooms have been pretty clean and the front staff friendly. Staying here every couple of months for a conference has allowed me to see that they are consistent and the rooms nice. There are several great restaurants within walking distance and the hotel is right next to the concert hall. Very convenient.

Whitnie R.

Yelp
Paid $950 a night for a room with two queen beds. Felt like a cave, was dirty and smelled like urine. Moved to the hotel across the street. The front desk was nice, the room was just so gross.
google avatar

Kim C.

Yelp
We have stayed at a few Graduate hotels and always love their decor and ambiance. Usually, I would find myself giving The Graduates a solid 5 star rating. Perhaps it's the whole grunge vibe of PNW, or just managements choice not to take those extra steps to make this place a five star. Our service was great (check in and bar service), but as you venture to your rooms, there were smells, floors in need of vacuuming and stuffy rooms with the inability to get cooler fresher air. If I could rate it 3.75, I would. It doesn't deserve a 3, but not quite a 4. I don't, NOT, recommend this place, it's just in need of a little more attention.

Jackson C.

Yelp
Do not expect to check in on time at this hotel. Check in is at 4pm but they won't have any rooms ready. Especially if they are having the entire Boise state football team check out at 430. Kind of unbelievable how terrible of a system they have here. They also will hold every single persons bag in the back room and not be able to find them. If you need a place to stay with a bed and shower this is not for you. But if you need a bar with a giant duck in the middle and a top golf simulator you will love it. Giving two stars because I feel bad for the staff and they're pretty liberal with the discount coupons for the bar.
google avatar

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks with a great live band! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Must try the food!

Mitch G.

Yelp
The is no way this is a 4-Star hotel. It is a nice hotel with cool theme and lobby decorations but it is more on par with a very nice motel. In the winter, the lobby is Very cold. You feel the strong wind coming in from the front door on the mail level or at the door to the garage on the lower level. The effect is like being inside a cold chimney. The rooms have a decent number of outlets but no USB ports. Decoration is "1970's dorm room." Very cool if you are the right age but the furniture is just as comfortable. However the bed was very comfortable. Arrived early for a conference that had the whole hotel booked. Request for early check-in could not be accommodated but it was frustrating that we were not able to check in until more than an hour after the 4 pm check in time. The gym is OK. It is on the lower level and you access the small pool through the gym. The pool area is cool with walls of rubber ducks, except for the empty spaces where stolen duck used to reside. There is no hot tub which is very sad since you need to traverse the "ice chimney" to get to, and from, the pool. The cafe in the lobby has a limited selection and is extremely understaffed. No table or counter service, all orders done at the counter. Dinner service is available in the large, loud, Trophy room, just off the lobby. Overall, Graduate Eugene is not the best choice unless you have an even at the hotel or are a diehard Nike or U. of Oregon fan.

Yelp
I would not choose to stay here again. Prepaid for hotel. Upon arrival we were charged a refundable amenities fee. I understand an amenities fee at a resort, but here it doesn't make any sense. They give you 'complimentary' beverage/coffee tickets. Guess what folks... not complimentary. Coffee at the hotel tasted like dirty water. How you can make a cappuccino from an actual barista taste like dirty water was beyond me. I even purchased an extra espresso shot to try and save it. Didn't work. You had to beg for food and drinks at Top golf. Valet was a joke of a service. We couldn't find, or the valet wouldn't stop talking to park for us. Parked ourselves twice during our stay even though we paid for valet. Bell hop took our bags to our room, but didn't have a key so they left our bags/computers/ipads/jewelry/designer items in the hallway. The staff here needs some serious training. I've never had worse service at a hotel. Beds were comfortable thankfully. Bathrooms were outdated and extremely small. The lobby and bar area was really cool. I'd visit those areas again, but based on service and shady hotel charges, there is no way I'd stay here again when for the same prices (after hidden fees) We could stay at The Gordon or Inn at 5th and get good service and value.
