Graduate by Hilton Minneapolis (Minneapolis, Minnesota) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Minneapolis is more than a college town, and in that way it differs from many of the other Graduate hotels, each of which is typically the only boutique-style hotel to speak of in its hometown. But Minneapolis is nevertheless home to the University of Minnesota, and Graduate Minneapolis departs from its sisters in another way: it’s not just near the campus, it’s actually on campus. The former Commons Hotel is now flying the Graduate flag, and it delivers the same heady blend of retro nostalgia and contemporary boutique charm as the rest of the Graduate lineup." - Tablet Hotels

This is an update to my review. ||I stayed at The Graduate Minneapolis in June 2025 as part of a group with four rooms reserved under one reservation. The hotel’s location is ideal, steps away from a Metro Transit train stop and within walking distance to a variety of restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining. The decor throughout the hotel is charming and quirky in the best way, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.||Unfortunately, the customer service experience did not live up to the quality of the accommodations. The front desk staff, while friendly, seemed disorganized and overwhelmed. At check-in, our request to separate room charges by individual business cards was met with confusion. ||Upon checkout, the billing was incorrect, and a large credit remained pending on my card. When I contacted the front desk for assistance, the staff seemed unsure how to help and suggested sending me a credit card authorization form, which made no sense in the context of the situation. I left a voicemail for Assistant Manager, Chelsea Heggelund, who chose to respond via email rather than return my call, asking me to email her instead. I also called General Manager, Michael Berk, and left a message but, a week later, I still have not received a response. (I did receive a response several days later from Mr. Berk. I had already resolved the issue through other means. He was apologetic but did say the email rather than a phone response is typical for them.)||To make matters worse, despite staying at a Hilton-branded property and booking multiple rooms, my Hilton Honors account reflects zero points for the stay. (I resolved this through Hilton.)||While the property has great potential and the location is excellent, the disorganized management and lack of follow-through left a disappointing impression.

Really great place to stay on campus. Awesome nostalgia as someone visiting as an alumni. Starbucks and Hotel restaurant connected. Small gym. Beds were SO comfy. Staff was incredibly nice. Water in our room. Great work area in lobby.

I went to Minneapolis for a conference in July of 2025. Because the Graduate hotel is located right next to the conference venue, I decided to stay here. The room was spacious for one person and was clean. The service was pretty good---they attended to my non-functioning TV pretty quickly. Overall, I was happy with my stay and would gladly stay there again.

Location was superb. Service was spectacular. Rooms were lacking. 3 of our outlets did not work. The shower is not fit for anyone over 6 feet tall - I had to stoop and duck to use it. Also, the beds were doubles, tiny - my feet hung off the edge all night.

Edited 7/13 Re-Response from Hotel. 1. The weather in MN the week of 7/8 is not higher than average (see images of current and historical average), highs the week of the AV issue 7/8 were not unusual. 2. The EV charger in from of the hotel has not been functional for over a year. So there is not a charger available in front of the hotel (see image of review from 5 months ago stating that it had been out from over a year at that point). So this is not a new issue. Staff is great but the hotel is not. No function AC in multiple rooms and No EV charging on site (advertised on the website). Checked in (week of 7/8/25) and room was warm. I had to run out for my conference so I turned the temp down and figured it should be better when I came back. When I came back it was clear that the AC wasn't working. Front desk was very nice and gave me a different room, that one was even worse with clearly non-functional A/C and a rigged up window unit with cardboard over the open part of the window that wasn't sealed up so hot outside air was streaming in. Hoped that closing the shades would limit air coming in but they won't close all the way. Ended up having to find a different place to stay for the night because they didn't have any other rooms available. Did get a refund and staff was very nice. It was clear this is a major issue in the hotel based on the boxes of fans sitting at the front desk. Talked to multiple people at the conference with the same issue across different floors in the hotel who had been given fans to deal with the heat.

Google
Loved this hotel. So premium. It felt like a way more expensive hotel. I would have expected a luxury brand name because it was really really high class and clean and nice. Improved my perception of Hilton overall. I loved everything from the shower to the desk setup to the shared spaces downstairs, and I loved the parking garage being connected by skyway because it was a very rainy weekend. The gym, meh, just okay. They need more weightlifting equipment and they need to maintain it better. | But everything else was perfect. I think this is probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in that was under $500 per night. It compares really well to those $500+ hotels. I will be back.

Google
Needed a last minute place to stay in MN close to U of MN and The Graduate was perfect! The design all throughout is elevated and impressive. The room was one of the cleanest I’ve been in recently, well decorated, and the King bed was very comfortable. The front desk team was friendly and very welcoming. The restaurant/bar is perfect - try the walleye cakes! Would stay here on repeat without hesitation!

Yelp
The worst service and operations I have ever experienced. They stole my prescription sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses left in the room out of spite and bitterness. They told me I must have lost them and refused to help me. This place is absolutely the worst staff and the rooms are filthy with 1970's Lonni Anderson oil painting in every room and racist characters in bathroom photos. Never met a bunch or more stand offish and miserable young people in my life working the front desk. Shame on you Graduate Hilton and the general manager and asst general manager. I was told by general manager he would launch an investigation on August 5, 2025. I'm pretty sure that never happened. The glasses were worth over $1000 US dollars yet nobody has followed up with me. Welcome to the Graduate Hilton in Minneapolis, how can we be fake and miserable with a smile. I'll never stay in a Hilton again, nor would I return to the city of Minneapolis. Shame on all of you!! My biggest complaint is lack of compassion and medical care. I fell outside and hit my head and may have broke my hand/wrist. I was treated a drunk person who was bleeding because I forgot my room key which may have fallen out of my sportcoat during my fall. There is video of me bleeding in the lobby and not once did someone offer medical care. I was anlso had my conference badge anround my neck with name and event. Instead they told me I had to leave the hotel for being difficult and having no picture ID because I lost it. I showed my Costco card with picture and the credit card I booked room under. I knew my room number. I was concussed and have a doctors appointment for my injuries to my hands/wrist from the fall outside the hotel. I may add the road is very bad with large potholes outside hotel and not very well lit. I caution guests to be very careful walking across street filled with potholes and a 2 foot wide gully and train tracks. Shame on all of you at Graduate Hilton and the Night Auditor should be fired for his handling of the situation. Go to www. Hilton.com if you had a bad experience with the graduate Hilton Minneapolis.

Yelp
Came here for Penn State vs UM and could not be happier with our stay. We wanted a room close to the stadium, public transportation, and dining/ shopping. This place is the best location for all of this. We spent a quick Friday and Saturday night and accomplished what we came to do: see a great football game, walk around Minneapolis, and have a some good eats. The bonus was PSU winning a great football game and heading home winners. (Sorry, Gophers). If we ever find ourselves back for a football game, this is where we'll be staying.

Yelp
Unfortunately, there is no covered parking here - only a surface lot. Not a big deal usually, but I came on one of the coldest days so of course not ideal. (There is a parking garage across the street if you want that extra protection.) The lobby is very cute, complete with tables for socializing and seating around an indoor round fireplace. The front desk staff was very friendly upon check-in. I'm not sure why they charge a resort fee here, but at least my tab was picked up by work. The whole hotel is very on-brand with their decorations, down to the hallways and even "do not disturb signs." The room could not be more Minnesotan if they tried. I was really only here for a quick in-and-out work trip, so I didn't get to explore much, but the room was very clean and I was overall happy with my stay.

Yelp
Sweet place. I ponied up the bar with friends before a game. Very comfortable setting. Good bar service. I loved the fries that came with the chicken sandwich. There were games to play like shuffleboard. Plenty of places to sit and be alone without looking too out of place.

Yelp
This is a perfect place to be location wise when visiting University of Minnesota. It's walking distance to campus, stores, and restaurants around. Light rail is right in front of the hotel. There's also a Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and top golf connected to the hotel. Front desk staffs are friendly and helpful. But it's a little outdated. Furnitures needs a little face lift, as seen in one of the pictures, the leather on the leather chair is peeling off inside the room and in the lobby. Initially, I was given a key to a room that was occupied, I went down to front desk and got moved into a different room. I was tired at 9:30pm. As I walked into the room, I feel the temperature change from the hallway. It was 80F inside the room and I turned it down to 60 to tried to cool down the room. 30 minutes, temperature was unchanged. So, I don't went down to front desk again and got a different room. Well third time was the chair. I successfully got into a cool room.

Yelp
I've never stayed at the hotel but it's a great spot to take a break and study. And I love the fireplace feature and long library style communal tables!

Yelp
Stayed at the Graduate hotel for a business trip and had a great time. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff, with fast check-in and their providing useful information about the amenities at the hotel as well as local surroundings. Having a large Chick-fil-A restaurant 100 feet away was a nice touch! The room was spacious, clean, and had enough outlets and USB ports for my devices. The Beacon pub had a fun vibe in the evening with a friendly bartender, and their breakfast options included standards and some more unique things. Their eggs, hash browns and sausage were hearty and the coffee hot and of decent quality, along with friendly, efficient service. If you're attending an event at or near the U of M, this is an excellent option, and I'd be happy to stay here again.

Yelp
I thought this place was really great! I would say this is more of a 4.5 star review than a 4. It was nearly a perfect business trip! The lobby is absolutely beautiful, but tends to be filled with students. It kind of makes sense since there is a Chick fil A and a Starbucks within the lobby complex. The seats looked comfy. The hotel is very centrally located to the University and the Minneapolis/St Paul Area. There is a light rail station right in the front of the hotel that allows you to get everywhere including the Mall of America! The actual room was pretty nice too! Beautiful beds, nice bathroom, and a great little working area. It made it a great place to lay my head and do some work when I was waiting for my boss. We had a conference in the Graduate so I got to try their food both from a catering aspect and their restaurant. Everything that I ate here was outstanding. They can make some really good soups. I already did a review for the main restaurant in the lobby. I was surprised with my lunch there! The only "downside" for my entire trip was the wait at the front desk. That area seems a bit small and understaffed for the size of this hotel. Check out as a little challenging for some in my group, but everybody seemed very nice! If I ever need to come to U of MN, I am staying here. It seems like a perfectly nice hotel with good beds and they do not seem to charge that much compared to others!

Yelp
Well maintained and friendly service. Location was very convenient as well. Open spaces were open to students to use for studying.

Yelp
I didn't stay at this hotel, but my childhood bestie did when she flew into Minneapolis from out of state for a conference, which was also held at this hotel. She had a wonderful stay, and as a friend who met up with her at the lobby, I found the lobby very comfortable, and I was delighted to find a Starbucks coffee shop within the hotel to purchase a cup to enjoy as I waited for her to break out of her conference to meet me in the lobby. My childhood bestie and I enjoyed a nice lunch at the Beacon Restaurant, the hotel's restaurant and caught up on our lives before she went back to her conference upstairs. It was also raining, so it was nice that the Washington Parking Ramp is connected to the hotel, so I didn't have to walk outside in the rain to get back to my car! Awesome!

Yelp
Lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel is dog friendly which came in super handy! The hotel definitely has a unique feel to it, with "MN icons" memorabilia all over in the decor. Location is great, with many bars and restaurants right there. We definitely enjoyed our stay! Hope to be back soon.

Yelp
Love staying at the graduate on campus! Beautiful decor, gorgeous lobby with Starbucks and chick filet and awesome front desk staff. A special recognition to Kyle! He ALWAYS goes above and beyond to make my stay extra special and hassle free. Glad the Hilton take over didn't change things at the Graduate. Will be back in November to see a UMN football game. Go Gophers.

Yelp
Flight is delayed so get there at 140 am but can't get in cuz they lock the doors at 11. Charge $900 to card, for incidentals causing my card to get declined everywhere else and can't eat. The shower has absolutely no water pressure. The toilet won't flush takes 5 tries to flush pee. Sink has way too much water pressure and sprays all over. Then they charge the full amount to my card again which gets declined cuz they never removed the first charge. Have like 10 unhelpful staff standing at desk watching 1 person work while lines pile up. Avoid this place!!

Yelp
We've stayed at the Graduate several times and really enjoy the atmosphere and location, as well as the wonderful guest services staff. The property is on the East Bank right on the U of M campus. The rooms are very well appointed and each one a little different. Great artwork everywhere! We've always found the rooms to be very clean, and with quality linens and towels, as well as bathroom products. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's right on the green/blue line train, and a quick 5 min ride to US Bank Stadium so perfect place to stay if you're going for a game or concert. Highly recommend this property!

Yelp
My friend got married across the street. The rehearsal dinner was hosted at the hotel and we all got ready for the wedding in the hotel as well. The suite was spacious and actually had two bathrooms which was amazing for a bunch of ladies getting ready. The decor and lobby vibes definitely made me very nostalgic for my college years at the U. There was lots of seating decorated with live college students, studying, meeting, and drawing. There also a Starbucks as well as a bar / restaurant in the hotel. Another awesome space was the Top Golf room where the rehearsal dinner was. The space has 4 virtual golf bays with different games. Such a fun event space! Staff was also very friendly and helpful. The only issue was parking. Limited street parking and the ramp next door filled up.

Yelp
The place is a wreck. The cooling system has been broken for 3 days before a group of 20+ of us arrived. Some of the group were stuck in rooms at 80 when it was in the 90s outside. One couple did get relocated to another hotel for the first night because their room was so hot. Lots of water damage from the HVAC system and mold on our ceiling. Had to ask for fresh towels and room to be serviced multiple times. Once you are somewhere for four days they need to empty the trash. Truly felt like a run down motel next to a University. Elevator was a bit erratic. Sometimes you would just sit there with the doors closed and it would not move.

Yelp
I am so impressed with this hotel! We were a bit stranded and lost after arriving in Minnesota at 11am and went to see if we could at least drop off our luggage before the 4pm check in time. Check in clerk was so compassionate, friendly, and helpful. He let us check in right then and there, I'm so grateful! The hotel is immaculate with beautiful historic artwork throughout! Very centrally located from transit station, downtown, amazing restaurants, and the college. Very clean and accommodating hotel, which is also pet friendly! Safe as well- room key needed to use elevators to rooms! A definite must stay!

Yelp
Great hotel. Super fun atmosphere and the rooms are cozy. Love the little knickknacks and other memorabilia. We stayed for a wedding and everything was in walking distance.

Yelp
over 25 family members and I booked rooms at the Graduate for a funeral. I was traveling with my 85 year old mother and the afternoon before we were to fly out I got an email (this was after the confirmation email we'd gotten) saying they'd overbooked and were bumping us. Turns out over half our group was similarly out of luck. No text, no call, so it's lucky I checked email. They never found me a room, and the city was packed. I finally managed to get my own room, as did other family members, but it made organizing get togethers over the course of the weekend a hassle, as well as the added expense of Ubers to get myself and my mother to and from the hotel. The points they offered to stay at one of their properties at another time after I escalated my complaint didn't in anyway make up for their shoddy business practices.

Yelp
I've never heard of this chain but stayed at the Graduate Minneapolis the week before last for a conference and this was by far my best hotel experience ever. I absolutely loved the way that students used the lobby area. There was a very special collegiate feel. The decor was kitschy but cool. The room was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I paid for a early check but when we arrived the room was ready. They were apologetic and offered meal tickets in the hotel restaurant to accommodate. And the room was ready by the time we had done eating. The food at the hotel was also pretty good. I was impressed by the pork quesadillas and my partner really enjoyed the pancakes. I'm not sure the next time I'll be in Minnesota but I'll definitely stay there if I need to go back and look for other Graduate hotels.

Chassidie L.

Yelp
I normally don't write reviews about hotels, but this one definitely deserves one. Shout out to Rachel working the front desk! She was super kind and helpful when answering all of our questions. She even gave some tips and suggestions on where to go and what to do. A great experience to be spending my first few nights here! You needed your room card to get up the elevator which made things feel more safe and secure. They have a gym, starbucks, and top golf place all in the lobby! The location is perfect for anyone starting the UofM or wanting to go to a football game. It is right by a bunch of food spots and the light rail.

Yelp
While there was an unexpected mishap during our vacation, we ended up at this beautifully decorated hotel in an upscale, nostalgic 1950's vibe, which turned our frowns upside down. Comfortable and luxurious - even the lobby is beautiful. There is a fireplace in the lobby and is full of studious students on their laptops, as well as hotel guests checking in and out. There are many outlets and even a bar and restaurant inside this hotel. Once again, the whole hotel is beautifully decorated. Decorations in rooms are somewhat crazy, as they represent all types of themes, however, the history behind that is all of the themes relate to something in the state of Minnesota. How cool!

Yelp
The Good: Great location - walkable to many places Cozy decor Clean rooms Students can study in the lobby Nice gym The Bad: Woefully understaffed Sometimes the front desk staff needs to be the valet too Valet parking is your only option if you drive into town The Ugly: They publish a rate of $20/day for self park and $27/day for valet, but self park isn't an option. They just charge your account. The morning of the MN vs WI game, they had only one person working the front desk AND the valet and it took 30 min for us to get our car. We even called down first. When we asked about the delay, Eric told my husband, "if you want to get into it, I'll get into it with you". Not exactly Minnesota Nice.

Yelp
We were in Minneapolis to tour the University and Priceline set us up here. I must say this was the best experience I've ever had with the Priceline service. The Graduate Minneapolis is located right on campus and right in the heart of nearby activities. A very clean hotel and fairly comfortable beds. There is free air hockey & a shuffleboard game off the lobby. There's an onsite Starbucks & Applebees. With many other dining options within a short walk. The surrounding area feels safe, including strolling around at night. The rooms are interestingly decorated as evidenced by my accompanying Loni Anderson photo that was in our room. Excellent hotel stay for us at a very reasonable rate.

Yelp
My new favorite place to stay while in the twin cities. And here's why: 1. Great proximity to restaurants and art galleries 2. Cozy feel to the lobby and the room. I loved the decor. 3. A good restaurant and a Starbucks on the premises. 4. Clean, comfortable rooms 5. Games in the lobby- air hockey and shuffle board. 6. The light rail is right out the front door. 7. Friendly staff 8. Quiet rooms at night 9. They have a shuttle to Dinkytown. 10. The gym is located on the main floor so it is safe if you are going on your own.

Yelp
Really charming spot in the heart of everything. It's literally steps from the Light Rail which makes it convenient to get from the airport and other places around town. There's also a Starbucks, ChickFilA and the hotel's own restaurant all on the hotel's first floor (I don't recommend the hotel restaurant though). But if you aren't interested in those options, there are lots of local eateries nearby in walking distance. They have shuffle board, air hockey, a giant Connect Four and pool you can play for free. They also have bikes you can borrow to travel around town. There is also a Top Golf arcade to play games at a cost. Nice vibe, cool atmosphere, lots of fireplaces. The lobby can get a bit crowded at times because it doubles as a student study space. But there's seating in other areas. The cons I have are that the front desk/reception area isn't marked with signage. When I first arrived, I wandered around for quite some time trying to find it. Also, it took a really long time to have the rooms ready even though they were supposed to be ready by 4. We did have a large group and they are apparently short staffed so I have a little understanding. The bathroom on the first floor could've been cleaner. And the faucets are motion sensitive but only one works. But the good far outweighed the bad.

Yelp
There are not enough words to properly convey how incredible our experience was while staying at the Graduate. A friend and I booked the room for a surprise trip, for one of our best friend's 30th birthday (she lives in MN), and booking at the Graduate was the best thing we could have done! There were many things that needed to be coordinated to pull off our surprise, and we wanted it to be as special for our friend as possible. The shutdown made that especially complicated... I called the front desk countless times during this period and they were so helpful, patient, and cheerful! I spoke with Brennon the majority of the time and he was a true life saver. He had information my local friend didn't even have and really helped in crafting the perfect weekend! I felt confident in my hotel choice before even getting on the plane -- all thanks to Brennon. Upon arriving, check-in was fast and easy. They made us feel so welcome and helped us create a fun and festive atmosphere for our friend. When it came time for her to finally arrive at the hotel, Brennon helped facilitate the surprise and everything went perfectly because of him! Brennon had also recommended a restaurant over the phone and told me how to get reservations before the shut down. That meant when all the restaurants were full, we had already secured a wonderful place to bring our friend for her birthday dinner! (His food recommendations were also on point) The rest of the trip, everything was shut down per MN law. I had really worried this would put a damper on our trip, but Brennon and the rest of the team went above and beyond to ensure we still had the best time! If there was a shutdown, we didn't even notice thanks to him and the incredible staff! My friend turned 30 during an unimaginably tough time in her life. This year, in addition to a pandemic (which has been hard enough on everyone) she went through a divorce and then only months later lost her dad suddenly. This wonderful human has been through hell and deserves respite -- especially on her birthday. It was so very important to us that everything be nice for her. Brennon and Team did not know all of this. They went above and beyond anyway. I truly believe they treat each guest like VIPs. I also think Bennon is an angel on earth! The Graduate has a wonderful, hip atmosphere in a perfect location. Everything is clean and nice. What makes the Graduate so noteworthy, however, is the people. Brennon is the type of employee I would give an arm and a leg for. He exemplifies top-notch guest service. He exemplifies human kindness at its finest. Brennon took our hotel experience from great to out of this world and I'm so grateful! I know this seems dramatic for a hotel review, but I feel so strongly that our experience was worth sharing. And if you got this far in my novel, just know you won't go wrong booking here. 6 out of 5 stars!!!

Yelp
I went here for an awards ceremony, and they have a decent event space. The food spread was eclectic. Some of the stuff was good. Popup bar got the job done.

Yelp
Great hotel! Staff was very friendly, rooms are spacious, price was great, near a lot of things on campus including athletic events and close to multiple coffee houses. Lots of room in the lobby with WiFi were you will find students sitting and working on laptops. They also have shuffle board tables to play as well. Breakfast at the restaurant was AWESOME too. The hotel has a unique charm to it. It isn't like your typical hotel! Nice little outdoor patio area with lights and a fire pit when the weather is nice! Very close to a Metro Station as well to get you where you need to get to!

Yelp
This hotel is our favorite, this will be our go too hotel when we are in the city for sure. The staff is so helpful and nice. We was able to check in late because of flight delays but our room was still waiting for us, even though if you check in at 11:00p you still need to check out by 11:00am which means you lose out. The hotels decor is so cute, it has a college feel to it, with the destress look of the leather couch in the lobby to the key fab which has Prince picture on it because he come from Minnesota it's awesome. Our room was on the 7th floor which had a wonderful view of the city. The beds was so comfy and bathroom was cute with fish wall paper and pictures of a plaid jacket which belong to an alumni of the school University of Minnesota. Ohh the shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom smelled so good it was unbelievable. I'll be back.

Yelp
TLDR: Less than helpful staff, lots of mechanical and computer issues. AVOID. This hotel is staffed by people that are less than interested in customer support or service. I repeatedly asked for a room away from the elevator for noise. Where was I? The first room around the corner from the elevator, and with an ice machine right across from my room door. "No other rooms available" (which I found hard to believe) was the desk's response. Worst is yet to come though. The temperature was difficult to control, the front desk staff were less than helpful (again, still) and then I find out they were having issues with credit card charges. Considering the cost, and considering other Graduate locations have been amazing makes me sad for this property. AVOID as a business traveler for sure.

Yelp
Our stay here was very nice and the decor was interesting to look at. The fireplace was cozy. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is also a gym on the main floor. I love how convenient this place is! Not knowing this was on campus, this hotel was very convenient to say the least. Everything is walking distance. You have tea spots, restaurants, and even the college just minutes away!

Yelp
Our stay was very nice here and got a great deal for a night's stay through Orbitz. I would recommend if you want a clean and comfortable room with individual charm to each room. There's a very collegiate, contemporary feel to the place and it's a nice update departure from a standard hotel chain. Also they have the good soaps/gels/lotions, ha. It's a part of the University of Minnesota campus so there's plenty to eat around the area and so it also makes for convenient access to things you want to get to. Not to mention, we went during the Minnesota State Fair which was super convenient as they had buses running to and from campus every 20 minutes. No wait, no traffic. That was pleasant. I would stay here again, very cozy, trendy and inviting. Not to mention there's the hotel restaurant/bar, an Applebees (why), a Starbucks and a virtual Top Golf stand you can rent by the hour, valet and a very friendly front desk.

Yelp
Nice enough hotel but make sure to request a room with no connecting door. The sound proofing is nonexistent. I didn't want to be forced to eavesdrop on someone's speakerphone call.

Yelp
I have stayed here on two separate trips to MPLS and have loved it both times. Other reviews have complained about students studying in the lobby, but I actually thought it was cool that the lobby was so welcoming of students. I would have loved to study there when I was in college. Overall, I love the quirky "school" theme of the hotel. The hotel itself is right in the midst of U of M campus and right on the green line and close to other public transit. I found the staff to be generally upbeat and helpful during our stay. There are plenty of places to grab breakfast in the immediate area. The rooms were comfortable, and I like that they provide some of the toiletries in refillable pumps to reduce waste. Overall, if anyone were visiting me in MPLS I would definitely suggest they stay here.

Yelp
Stayed a couple of nights at the Graduate when my wife had an interview at the medical center. I enjoyed that the hotel embraced being a campus hotel. While some guests complained in other reviews about students studying in the lobby, I kind of like it. It reminded me of late night cram sessions during finals week. I also enjoyed the Minnesota-based decorations. The shower had great water pressure and the beds were really comfortable. The only real negative was the hotel didn't offer early morning room service. Would have been nice for the morning of my wife's interview. There is a Starbucks on the first floor of the hotel so that helped.

Yelp
Having come in for a friendly group meetup (wikiHow) this past weekend, I found this place to be very stylish and quirky, though different and not too effective on the inside. We thought your hotel would match our theme for our meetup, and although I wasn't the organizer, I wasn't very blown away by several things. I took note of no vent in the room bathrooms along with the slow Wi-Fi connection along with the pestering doormen as I walked in the door at 9am, nor the inability to find check-in at first (I gravitated left to right, only to find that it was behind a wall to the left of the doorway opposite the elevator.) I liked that there was an immaculate entrance lobby along with the extra spots for business travelers along with an attached Starbucks nearby as well as an escalator to lead up to the second floor (where the conferences took place), but most guests wouldn't need these if they weren't going to a meeting there and would be spotted quicker turning the wrong way heading to check-in. I had a few problems when I got there, but for those few I did have, by asking they actually took care of the problem. Behind my door, I never received a Do Not Disturb sign. But after asking, it took them 30 minutes to produce one. After looking at the sign, it clearly states "We Are All Students: P.S. - If you find me stowed away in your suitcase, don't forget to write! " (it's as if they are already expecting their guests to steal their signs. Sweet! (Here's my form of writing, and thanks for the neat pennant! A great souvenir for my own room!)) It never really did stick on my door handle there very well (it kept falling off with every turn of the lever.) But I commend you on your attempt. Then factor in the almost-attached Applebee's Restaurant along with a bar-like restaurant called "The Beacon" but what I thought I liked was the fact of just how close the light rail system (along with a trip to and from the Mall of America along with a trip to Terminal 1 of the Airport) was to the hotel. For me, it proved to be disastrous that there were small relaxing waterfalls and fires going on both inside the door and outside and try to greet every guest who comes through those doors 24/7. I get the small waterfalls, but why all those fires both outside the entrance and just inside the lobby? The waterfalls were relaxing enough, but I felt like those fires were a bit much. I didn't like their walking system on the room floors of this hotel. I was in room 445, so I walked quite a ways to get between my room and the elevator. I nearly got lost twice even though the check-in greeter told me the route I was supposed to take. Neat door system you have at your rooms. I've never before stayed at a hotel that had HID systems (where you don't slide a card or turn a key and just placing your card up to the edge of the door strip) was quite efficient for me. How clever this past weekend was. But I don't have any other Graduate Hotels near me, so I can't stay at any others to compare this location to much. A possible recommend if I'm ever seen back in this area again.

Yelp
Be adventurous and discover the reception desk tucked away on the left in this hidden boutique hotel on the University of Minnesota campus. Well appointed king rooms with coffee makers, unique art work and padded fabric headboards. I loved using the room's antique telephone for every possible thing! I checked in at 9:45 pm after a loooong travel day. The student at hotel reception graciously greeted me and checked me in. When i enquired about the hotel restaurant, she volunteered to call and immediately phoned the Hotel restaurant (which was closing in 10 minutes) to advise I was walking over for a quick dinner. Now THAT is customer service!! Thank you! I'll be back.

Yelp
The hotel does not feature reliable or functional air conditioning. Guest rooms were 78°+ even when set to 65°. The staff is kind, and it's obvious they're struggling with staffing and having enough hands. The staff did move me and a number of us in our party to one or more rooms to try and help. I can't fault them for that, this is an equipment issue. Beyond moving rooms; they were not able to offer any more than a fan, which doesn't cool the room - only makes it a convection oven. Overall, it's a cute hotel, but maybe it's a winter only lodging option.

Yelp
If your company, or the university, is going to put you up in an average to below average hotel already, then at least be close to the university. That's the one thing this hotel has is great location. It's 304 rooms in the heart of the University of Minnesota campus and close to athletic facilities. Close to TCF Bank Stadium, 3M Arena at Mariucci, and The Barn or Williams Arena. It's also close to the Metro Light Rail line which is literally across the street from the hotel. Upon entering the hotel, it seems as if something is wrong. The entire lobby is overwhelmed with students, bums, and other guests as the lobby acts as an overflow room for the Starbucks located on the first floor. While it's nice having a Starbucks, the unnecessarily busy atmosphere it creates is suboptimal for hotel guests. There's no central visual point of reference for the guest to find the check in desk. No sign. Nothing. I literally had to look at a map to find where check-in is located as the valet stand was abandoned. At the front desk the agent was pleasant, welcoming and very friendly. Yet, she asked that killer question of "how were my travels in?"...guess she wasn't expecting to hear how miserable it was. How a series of mechanical failures led me to arrive at the hotel so late. It's one of those questions where A) they really don't care, B) it was out of their control C) there's little to no guest recovery. They couldn't even move me to a room with a king bed, so asking that question really does no good. The guest room theming is cool for about two minutes, then you realize you're still in a 1985-built hotel with crappy air conditioning, dirty vents and plumbing that needs major improvement. Things they can easily fix, like WiFi speed are ridiculously slow. Which makes you wonder how much of the drag is from the lobby being overwhelmed with Starbucks customers crashing on hotel furniture and bandwidth. I found the shower head height to be annoyingly low. Like how in the world does a basketball team shower in this hotel? Much love and appreciation goes to whomever chose Malin + Goetz products for their toiletries. Such a wonderful sense for apothecary is appreciated by the guest. That's all ruined when shampoo, conditioner and body wash are dispersed from a pump action dispenser mounted to the shower tile. The hotel claims they're locked, but it's fairly easy to bust the lock, or just unscrew the bottle. Shame of it is, I can't use the best products available to the guest because I can't get out of my mind that another guest could tamper with the bottles. So I bring my own low-rated, boring and Walmart cheap product instead. I was very pleased that by hiding my decorative pillows and decorative blanket in the room's closet and by making my own bed that housekeeping didn't bother with putting those dirty pillows and linens back on the bed. I was also pleased that I was completely restocked with toiletries by housekeeping and I feel I got my money's worth by offering them a small tip. Quite displeasing was the dirty bathroom vent, and the dirty vents on the wall mounted HVAC. Look, I get it if a hotel has central air and doesn't do duct cleaning that often, but wall mounted units that just went through a refurb should be replaced. Also disappointing was the filthy windows, and the wall paper that was peeling. I mean come on this place just went through a rebranding. The wall paper couldn't have been up for more than four months, really sloppy job. At checkout the front desk asked me about my stay. Which turned out to be fairly disingenuous as I listed my problems and it was met with an "oh, well would you like to settle your incidentals to the same card on file?" Which brings up another gripe. Look, I get that they're on a college campus, but to charge $20, for surface lot self parking is pretty much robbing the guest without using a gun.

Yelp
The Graduate is an incredibly charming hotel nestled in the heart of campus at the U of M. It's actually connected to the University through a system of tunnels so you don't actually ever have to go outside, which is a major bonus in the winter months. The lobby is beautiful, but casual. It's lined with communal tables and Edison bulbs where college students seem to gravitate. There's also a Starbucks attached, which again offers the convenience of not having to go outside. Check-in was a breeze and my room on the 4th floor was quiet. The decor in the rooms is an homage to an era when subway tile was a new idea, a blazer was mandatory at the dinner table. Even the key cards are charming, depicting as school ID cards for some individuals whose names you may recognize. The gym was small, but offered everything you could need. The rooms were clean. I had a great experience and would recommend staying here, particularly if you have business at the U of M.

Yelp
I have stayed at the commons before. It seems that they renovated the hotel and changed the name. The room was definitely bigger than where I have stayed previously. The beds have different panels and rooms have antique feel. The wifi has no password. The products in the bathroom were high quality. I would stay here again and recommend. The rates depend on if there is an event or conference going on in minneapolis at the same time. I have stayed for less than 100 bucks. It was a great deal!

Yelp
My family and I stayed here one weekend in November while visiting for a football game. We had a good stay overall. The hotel is conveniently located on campus. All the university buildings are within walking distance. There are many other amenities nearby like bars, restaurants, banks and convenience stores. The light rail line is right outside for easy travel. If you never want to leave the hotel, you're in luck because inside there is a Starbucks, a bar and restaurant, TopGolf and an Applebees. The decor of the hotel is pretty unique, like northwoods lodge with a touch of old Hollywood. Upon arrival you walk into a reception area with a giant fireplace that provides warmth and coziness of up north. The rooms follow this theme with heavy woolen plaid drapes, fish wallpaper in the bathroom, pastoral hunting scenes on the fabric headboards and artwork that recalls some old movies and stars. The bed was very comfortable and the room was perfect for a sound night sleep. No complaints there. Check in was a fine experience, the front desk staff was helpful and informative. Our room while on the surface was well appointed and clean, we had an underlying sink issue. First, when washing our hands the stream out of the faucet was a slow trickle with no water pressure. When finished it would not turn off. We had to call maintenance to come to our room and fix this. The maintenance people arrived and worked diligently on fixing the issue. They managed to get the faucet turned off but ultimately after many attempts and several hours they could not fix the water pressure issue. They didn't have the part and of course couldn't get it to fix the problem until Monday. Well I guess fortunately or unfortunately, they did offer to comp the room for the night and potentially move us to another room. Or stay in the room for the whole weekend at a discounted rate. Overall the staff did their best to help us. It was appreciated and they even have us free Fuji waters to help us with the lack of water. Aside from the faucet issue, the hotel was good, conveniently located and staff was helpful. If I were visiting campus again for an event I'd pick Graduate Minneapolis for another stay.

Yelp
We worked with Michael to plan a board retreat last weekend for six of us, and everything was perfect. He was so incredibly patient with us as we had specific budgets/demands as a small nonprofit. The food was fantastic and the customer service by the staff was beyond outstanding. They were so attentive, so friendly, and so patient. We do this retreat two times a year, so we will definitely be coming back! Thanks Graduate!

Yelp
What a quirky, comfortable hotel! Loni Anderson's portrait watches over you as you sleep. Walleyes and a Foreman cartoon keep you company on the bathroom. Fly fisherman decorate the headboard and there is a hockey player blanket. The halls have wood paneling and plaid carpeting. Oh and the corvette desk lamp! Not being from the area I don't get all the connections but I love this place! The room was clean and very comfortable. Everything is new though reflects another era. What a fun place to stay!

Yelp
Was disappointed with the amenities in the presidential suite. No bath tub, $5 fees for a bottle of water, stains clearly visible on the bedspread. There wasn't any explanation to me as to what would be in the room at all. I can't remember the last hotel room I was in without a bathtub, but I guess that's what I get for assuming. My husband and I were here celebrating our wedding and we ended up driving home to sleep both nights because the hotel was so unappealing. The artwork was also the same in each of the suites which I've never experienced in a hotel before and it felt pretty uncool to see the exact same art in both suites. Also my in-laws got a suite bigger than mine (I think my in-law might've requested ours by mistake after I thought we had gotten it), and I certainly don't think this suite was worth an extra $100 a night compared to the others in our room block. I will never stay at this hotel again. It felt like a gigantic waste of money, and I wished someone asked us how our stay was when we checked out. This was our wedding weekend, only once this lifetime hopefully lol, and I was bummed that the hotel where we had people staying was so lackluster. I actually felt embarrassed that we chose this bad of a hotel for our families' first visit to MN. We got married a mile away from the hotel and I wish we would've gotten a block at the Hampton Inn instead. Also, all info sent out before said masks were required in all common areas of the hotel, and yet no employees or customers were ever wearing them. I don't mind not wearing them but don't send mixed messages about them being required when they're not. Just overall so disappointed with this hotel choice.
