DO NOT STAY HERE. We stayed here June 2025 for a family celebration and on for a day of business. The hotel is dirty, run down with many amenities unserviced or closed. The management is unresponsive and staff, although courteous, seem to be given a list of excuses for the current condition of the hotel but no solutions. Our room was dirty with wipeable dust on the headboard, lampshades, moldings, bathroom fixtures with broken, the hall walls and elevators were marked with many scuffs and splashed with liquid stains, the lobby stairs and carpets are stained. The gym equipment was broken and there were no sanitation supplies with which to clean any equipment that worked. I reached out to management after our stay with zero response. I then reached out to Hilton corporate. After 6 days Hilton responded with only an acknowledgment of my email. It is all a shame because the hotel has historic beauty and could be a treasure with upkeep and investment. As is, until management and/or Hilton care about service and brand, it is not worth a stay, regardless of price. This experience put me off on Hilton properties.

Disappointing experience overall. We booked a suite at nearly $600 per night expecting a higher level of service, but were let down on several fronts. There was no valet and no room service available. The bathroom was incredibly small for a suite—so much so that the door opened directly onto the toilet. One of the main reasons we chose this room was because the sofa was advertised as a pull-out bed. When we asked to have it made up while we were out to dinner, we were told there was no staff available to do it, but that the sheets were already on the sofa. When I asked about pillows and blankets, I was told someone from the lobby might be able to bring some up. Only two elevators were working during our stay, leading to long wait times every day—especially frustrating given how busy the hotel was. The two restaurants listed on the hotel’s website are not actually affiliated with the hotel, which meant we couldn’t charge meals to our room as we had expected. To top it off, when we found the room uncomfortably cold, we were told we couldn’t adjust the thermostat and our only options were to turn off the AC completely or request extra blankets. For the price, the lack of basic services and amenities was really surprising. Not at all what you’d expect from a property charging this much per night

Terrible Experience – Not Up to Hilton Standards||As a Hilton Gold member, I expect a basic level of care and professionalism — but my stay at the Graduate by Hilton in Providence, RI, was far below even the minimum standard. I was traveling with my daughter, and the entire experience was frustrating, disappointing, and frankly, unacceptable.||At check-in, we were given just one $15 breakfast voucher, despite there being two of us on the reservation. I had to go back downstairs to ask why — they admitted it was a mistake and handed over a second voucher, but this should have been automatic. That moment set the tone for the rest of our stay.||The bathroom ceiling in our room was dripping with moisture, and there was visible water damage and mold. I reported this in person at the front desk, and while someone made a note in a book, no one followed up. I also tried calling the front desk from our room multiple times — no one ever answered. When I asked about this, I was told they were “too busy” to take calls from guests, which is not an acceptable excuse under any circumstance.||The hotel overall felt grimy, outdated, and neglected. The bathrooms in particular were in need of deep cleaning and modernization.||What really pushed this over the line was the complete lack of accountability. I emailed the current general manager directly, and even they didn’t bother to respond. No follow-up, no apology — just silence.||It’s clear this hotel is coasting on its location and lack of competition in the area. But this kind of service is not what Hilton should stand for. I will not be staying here again, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere — especially if you value cleanliness, professionalism, and even the most basic guest support.

I wish I read the reviews before booking this hotel. I have stayed at graduate hotels in other locations and had a great experience so I was expecting the same but I was incredibly disappointed. I 100% agree with all the negative reviews...dated, moldy, dark, dirty, amenities not working...I could go on and on. I will certainly never stay here again and I advise others not to as well. If Hilton doesn't care enough, then you should spend your money elsewhere.

Upon our arrival on Saturday night, we were horrified to find the pullout sofa bed covered in hair, a disgusting sight that immediately set a terrible tone for our stay. To make matters worse, there were no linens provided for the pullout bed; we were simply told to go to the front desk and pick some up ourselves—an unforgivable oversight. Housekeeping completely failed to clean our room on Sunday despite multiple requests from us, leaving us to fend for ourselves. We finally managed to get clean towels only late that evening, a frustrating and unacceptable inconvenience. The instant coffee offered by the hotel was utterly vile—cheap and disgusting—completely unacceptable for a place charging premium prices. The hotel restaurant was a huge disappointment—both the quality of the food and the service were well below any reasonable standard. As if that weren’t enough, the spa was either closed or out of business during our entire stay, adding to the sense that we were being shortchanged. To top it all off, our room was adjacent to a parking garage under construction, and the relentless noise of jackhammers woke us up early and continued throughout the day, making rest impossible. For the amount of money we paid, I expected far better. Instead, I’m left furious and disappointed. I have canceled our return reservation to Providence and will be seeking better accommodations elsewhere—I refuse to endure this level of neglect and frustration again.

We absolutely love the renovated Biltmore, another jewel in the Graduate by Hilton crown. The rooms are comfortable, well furnished, and decorated with fun colors and fabrics. The common areas are fun, and the old grand staircase still dominates the lobby. The only downside is the rather thin options for food -- a coffee shop and a bar-and-game-room are the only on-site amenities for dining, with relatively small offerings. That said, there are plenty of good food options in downtown Providence, and staying at a classic hotel is always a gas.

What a lovely hotel. Can’t believe that we were staying in a hundred-year building. I got a corner suite and really enjoyed the decorations in the room and the amazing view of the city. The staffs were friendly and helped a lot. The only complaint I have is the bathtub could be maintained better. Will definitely come back.

Don’t waste your money or your time. We had a flight delay and didn’t get into our room until 1am. ||When we finally got into our room the air conditioner was running and was extremely loud. It sounded like a car engine. I called the front desk (she was a friendly woman) and she gave me some directions of how to fix it. It didn’t work so she brought up a fan and she said maintenance would come by to repair the AC. Keep in mind the temps in Providence were hot 80+. The fan was loud and didn’t cool the air. I slept awful. ||The next morning we left for breakfast and returned to our room to use the bathroom before we left for the day. The maintenance worker left our hotel room WIDE OPEN for who knows how long. Our room was right off the elevator too. We waiting the room for 30min just in case they were going to return shortly after and nobody came. We traveled downstairs to tell the woman at the front desk what happened and instead of believing us to made excuses for the staff members.||When we came back that night the AC was making a high pitch chirping sound like an alarm going off. While we were at dinner maintenance came by again to fix the AC. After returning the AC worked fine and was quiet for about half the night then started making loud noises again.||We paid $200+ a night for this place and our belongings weren’t safe, we didn’t have a quiet or cool room to sleep. We had one more night left and stayed somewhere else because we needed to actually sleep before our flight home.||The only pro was you’re in downtown and close to everything. Some staff were great. Maintenance didn’t secure our door making us feel unsafe.||I’m working with Expedia to get a refund for our last night since we didn’t stay there.||Ridiculous.

Yelp
***April 2025 update: Just returned from another great weekend in Providence with a stay at the Graduate. The changes we made this time around, was opting for an upgrade to a suite. And we were quite impressed. The suite provided us with the extra space we were looking for. It was nice having the living room and separate bedroom. While the climate control system is loud, it works very well. It kept us comfortable given the change from warm 60° spring weather to that cold and rainy 40° weather we northeastern people are accustomed to in early-spring. I've already spoken before on the hotel decor and environment. Nothing has changed there. I love the style and "dark", cozy, feeling of the place. Security at the hotel does a great job and again, at no point did we feel unsafe in or around the building. One tip I would add to anyone booking a hotel here, upgrade to the parking package. Sure, the price it adds to your stay may appear to be a bit much. It's not bad at all if you plan on driving to the property and leaving throughout the day because the parking pass allows you re-entry without additional charges. The Graduate has become our hotel of choice when we're in Providence. It's conveniently located downtown with a parking garage right next door. The hotel rooms are comfortable and the decor is cool. My wife and I are already planning our return trip in August. ***August 2024 review In early-August we had an amazing weekend in Providence RI where we stayed at the historic, Graduate Providence. The Graduate Providence, formerly known as The Providence Biltmore, is conveniently located in downtown Providence. The hotel was opened in 1922 is rich with history. It was designed by the same architectural team responsible for designing Grand Central Terminal. And during our nation's time of racial segregation, the Providence Biltmore welcomed both black and white guests. Upon entering the hotel lobby, we were awestruck by the beautiful architecture. Some would describe the style as "art deco". I'm no history buff so I'm unsure of what the correct name is. However, after being there in-person, it's easy to see why the city's only luxury hotel (at the time of opening) attracted so many famous guests. The front desk staff was cordial and our check-in was seamless. I opted for the parking package for an additional cost of $34/night. A bit steep but the package covered all parking expenses for the Biltmore garage right next door to the hotel. After check-in we rode the elevator up to our room on the 14th floor. The room was welcoming and the style would be described as "dark modern regency". The small details that contributed with the "graduate" theme were cool and appreciated. Aside from the small details and coziness, the room definitely had some small signs showing it's age. There was some cracked paint, and stains along the floorboards. The AC was noisy and the toilet seat was loose. Other than that though, the room provided us with plenty of comfort as we rested in between galavanting all over RI. One thing the Graduate Providence nailed is style. Walking around the hotel lobby and mezzanine, you'll notice some cool artwork and cozy seating areas. In my opinion, the seats were pieces of art in the own right. Despite their bold colors, their cushions were soft and provided comfort after several hours walking around Newport. My compliments to whomever chose the furniture and decor for this hotel. When we return to Providence I'm not sure if we'll stay at the Graduate again. The customer service was great and the hotel is withing walking distance to a lot of great activities. At no point in time did we ever feel unsafe or unwelcome. But given the price point and those signs of the hotel showing it's age, I'm thinking we might see what the nearby competition can offer.

Yelp
Upon entering the lobby of The Graduate, we were immediately struck by the beauty of the hotel lobby, which retained its older charm without appearing outdated. However, upon checking in on a Monday evening, we were informed hotel guests would have no hot water from 10:00pm to 7:00am. Uh, that's awfully inconvenient. Who the heck wants to start their day with a cold shower at 6:00am? The desk clerk went on to describe the wonderful Reiners bar and game room, so we were looking forward to playing some pool and karaoke after dinner, only to find out it was closed on Monday night? Why would the desk clerk recommend we check out the Monday night karaoke at a hotel bar that is not even open?! Our 2 King Bed Suite was fine, though the shower curtain rod was falling off the wall, and thus, the curtain didn't stay closed very well. Also, the sink outside the toilet/shower area was incredibly dark with horrible lighting. Really awful for anyone hoping to shave, apply makeup, etc.

Yelp
It's incredibly difficult to recommend the Graduate to anyone other than needing a cheap room downtown. The prices comparatively are very good but the hotel is old and without most amenities. If you want breakfast, you're out of luck. There's a coffee shop, hope you want a muffin. The only restaurant in the hotel opens at noon. Parking is inconvenient. There's no valet. For $34 dollars a night, you have to drive around the block to a parking garage scan yourself in, and then every time you need to come or go, you have to walk to the garage, go up elevators and scan in and out. $34 should pay for a better system. Lastly, and most importantly, it's LOUD. The streets surrounding the hotel are so loud at night. Music blasting, people yelling, homeless fights. It's honestly, a terrible experience. Highly recommend staying somewhere else.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a room at the graduate hotel in PVD, told reservation agent I had a gift certificate and was informed to present the certificate to front desk upon arrival and they would deduct the amount from our room charge (150.00) Upon arrival I was informed that they do not honor the graduate gift certificates at the PVD location! If that was not bad enough I was charged 34.00 for parking and was given a scan code to open gate at hotel garage. Upon departure gate would not open with scan code , so my wife inserted her card to pay for parking. When I contacted the hotel , I was told to show proof of double pay( which I did email to hotel directly, two weeks later still not reimbursed for 34.00 charge. I also contacted the hotel regarding the gift card and my dissatisfaction with the hotel not accepting my gift card, I was informed that my gift card had already been redeemed ! This was bull, as I had checked the balance prior to booking on their website and still had 150.00 on the card!! Never, ever will I stay at a Hilton, nor recommend anyone to stay there, horrible customer service , I actually. Forwarded my original purchase receipt , and had no one respond to my inquiry ! This was a little get away for my wife birthday, it turned into a nightmare, so much for the Hilton rewards program. Their customer service is a joke!

Yelp
The Graduate is a lovely hotel. We had a few issues. The first being we were offered an upgrade. The room was cute, and spacious! Downfall was there was no refrigerator. Apparently it broke down and they didn't have a replacement. The outlet in the bathroom was behind the toilet. We had to take the top of the toilet off to plug anything in. Lastly, our room was very warm. They can either run the heat or the air conditioner. They had the heat on. We ended up opening the window but couldn't leave it open due to the outside noise. It really is a lovely hotel. I loved the decor. It had a lot of charm. We frequented the coffee shop, which also was a cute space.

Yelp
This was our first time at a Graduate Hotel and we loved it. Located in the former iconic Biltmore Hotel is this charming and interestingly themed place. The Graduate theme is college and you can see it in all the details. Your room key is a student ID of someone famous, the coffee bar front is pencils, there are pictures and artwork all over evoking school. We booked a King Suite room which was very affordable for the size. This was honestly our cheapest, yet biggest room we had during our New England trip. The room had a beautiful view of the capital and downtown. There was a separate living room area and one of the comfiest beds ever. Be mindful this is a historic building so there are some quirks, including the one pipe system. This means the whole building is either in AC or Heat mode. As this was still early October it was still in AC mode, so despite the colder temps outside you could not turn on the heat. We simply asked for some extra blankets and where perfectly happy. Our stay here was perfect and were sad we only had one night. Consider this on your next trip to Providence.

Yelp
The vacation was beautiful The hotel was wonderful Unfortunately, they do not come in and clean your room at all. Even if you're there for a week or more. But they will give you more instant coffee as they have a hot water pot lol not a coffee machine No laundry place to do laundry The food and drinks were good. It was quite expensive, but I walked around town. Try different places. . But the room was great

Yelp
I attended a professional learning workshop here hosted by the EdTech company Renaissance. I came early to have a virtual work meeting - the cafe off the lobby was very warm, had lots of comfortable seating, and plenty of outlets. I headed upstairs to the ballroom on the second floor. I got a chance to enjoy the wonderful artwork as I waited to get checked in. The ballroom was large but drafty! Many participants draped their coats over their shoulders to keep warm. The hotel served a since continental breakfast with fresh muffins sweet loaves, and fruit! My colleague enjoyed the gluten free muffins. For lunch, they served salad, various paninis (chicken, Italian, and veggie), a soup, chips, and various bars for dessert. I loved the raspberry bar I tried! The hospitality staff were kind. This seems like a good place to host a workshop or seminar - just be mindful about the drafty ballroom and the fact that street parking can be tight so encourage participants to park in a garage. I paid $15 for the day at the Biltmore garage.

Yelp
This Graduate Hotels are now a part of the Hilton Hotel Conglomerate. We are in Providence, RI for a wedding and this is the hotel we decided to call "home" for 5 days. It is an old building but it is well maintained and after 2 nights I am loving it more. The furniture may be retro, however, it enhances the beauty and charm of the hotel. Very friendly staff, beautiful woodwork on the main lobby and the mezzanine. Very comfortable bed and pillows. In our room the closet is small as is the bathroom. There is a coffee bar and a sports bar on the premises. Coffee bar has light breakfast items and the sportsbar opens in the late afternoon. Personally, I love the hotel, but honestly it is not enough for me to award it 5 stars.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel in 1996 as part of an industry group. The food and the hotel were so great, I wanted to bring my wife out in 2024. How the mighty have fallen. The Graduate is the former Providence Biltmore, which is and was a wonderful hotel. The leadership of the Graduate needs to step up their game. Specific problems: 1. There was no soap in the room. We had to call down 3 times, and finally we got two small bars of soap. The next day, housekeeping came and added soap to the wall mounted dispenser in the shower, but left their container and some cleaning junk in the room. WTH? 2. The carpet in the room near the AC unit was wet. Not damp, SOAKED. We brought it to the staff's attention, and went to breakfast. By the time we got back to the room, Engineering was there and they cleared the AC unit drain, and sucked up the water that had overflowed. But the carpet - still soaked. 3. The room smelled musty. This probably isn't the first time this AC unit has put water on the floor. 4. There is little space in the bathroom, so they have the extra roll of toilet paper hanging in a bag on the back of the door. The bag was empty. We didn't run out, but this is not good attention to detail. What was good: The staff was polite and helpful. Good security was there to keep the lobby in good graces. The 4 main elevators worked. The air conditioning worked. The view from our room was good. WiFi worked. They still kept the plaque which shows the flood level in the lobby from a hurricane in the earth 19th century. Would I stay here again? Probably, but I'd inspect the room and reject it if I found this much trouble. We missed the wet floor because we had shoes on - it became apparent when we soaked our socks to get to bed. So much potential. Management needs to step up and take steps to improve this.

Yelp
Really unfortunate experience this weekend with a reservation we booked months in advance. We arrived ~2 hours prior to check in and were advised that the only room available in the hotel was the one located directly across from the elevators, which was both loud and smaller than past rooms we've booked. I remain unclear how we were predestined for this room. We wound up never entering the room in hopes we could move later. We checked again about a room switch ~7pm, waiting in line with several other guests who were clearly just arriving, and were again advised that somehow every other guest had been preassigned to a specific room and there was no possible way we could move or even upgrade. Certainly a unique reservation system, at least in all my years of traveling, and I could've done with less attitude from the front desk. Reallllly unimpressed.

Yelp
We love this hotel! We held our wedding reception here and had a room block and could not be happier. The wedding suite was massive and with two bathrooms! It also had plenty of space for hair and makeup to set up. All of our guests loved the size of their rooms and how each room is so unique. All rooms have comfy king size beds too! This is an older hotel so control of ac/heat is not the best but for an April stay it was perfect. This hotel has so many little details all around, be sure to take it all in and check out all the spaces - Boardrooms, terrace, summit rooms, ballroom. We are obsessed with our wedding pictures and cannot believe all the shots are just from this one hotel. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
This was a fantastic room/suite for the price. It was clean, easily accessible. Walked in and got greeted immediately and I loved the space. Truly would stay here again and again!

Yelp
Today I took a tour of the Graduate and it was a nice one...the carpeting and all the walls and rooms have been updated and renovated since the pandemic. All rooms have king size beds. The junior suites have a nice seating area and a separate living room and bedroom spaces. The conference rooms are bright and cheerful. There's no pool, but the fitness center is ample and well equipped. There's a terrace where guests can enjoy the open air. A great place to stay, have a meeting or a special event.

Yelp
ORIGIN: Graduate Providence opened in 2021, marking continued expansion of the Nashville-based hospitality/real estate investment group Adventurous Journey (AJ) Capital. As in other acquisitions, Adventurous Journeys Capital purchased and reimagined a hotel that long-served the local university community. In this case it was the century-old Biltmore Hotel, which is listed on the national register of historic places. CONCEPT: As in all Graduate Hotels, the hotel's design and activities reflect connection with the community in which it is situated. Guests discover design elements that inform about community achievements, environment, and popular past times. A large rectangular table with easy access to outlets is a central feature that local university students are welcome to use to research, write, or study. EXPERIENCE: I was fortunate to get a College Hill facing suite at a typical rate per night. The room was beautifully designed, with a dining/living room area that has a comfortable upholstered chair with wide desk, a shell ceiling sconce, and a papered wall depicting Rhode Island- oriented books. Like all Graduate Hotels, references to the community were embedded throughout the building and are fun for guests to discover and make sense of. For example, Rhode Island has some famous donut shops, so I found donuts in the hall carpet design and print in the suite's bathroom. This is a clever way to make each hotel location unique, as well as educate visitors about the history of the area. SERVICE: The hotel reception folks were very accommodating and helpful, offering local street parking/ticketing info to my husband. TIPS: Request College Hill facing view to fully enjoy local landscape. This location's restaurant options are not as expansive as other Graduate Hotels, likely due to proximity of excellent restaurants... many on charming Weybosset Street just a few blocks away. A small grocery store named Rory's is just around the corner -- best option for breakfast to go, or inside (storefront window counter seating). Sandwiches and an assortment of uncommon chilled beverages and bagged snacks can make this a fun destination.

Yelp
This was my second visit in two years. This time around (second week of May) I was stunned at how cold the room was. The front desk explained that the heat is turned off May 1, and I should turn off the AC unit. I shivered the first night but managed to get two extra blankets for the next two evenings. Their heat-off policy starting May 1 is unacceptable, given the vagaries of New England weather in the Spring. The front desk rationalized that policy stating the building is old and that is how it's meant to operate. Huh? The hotel (former Biltmore in its heyday) did not follow that policy or practice). I overheard a number of guests complaining about "cold" rooms. My first stay I would rank a 4; this stay a "gentleman's" C or two stars.

Yelp
Nice historic hotel, love the decor, good food in the bar area. Nice clean rooms. Not enough light in the vanity area. Bathroom has no ventilation. Hotel has one ice machine on one floor. They have no pool. Love the room keys, everything is university themed really nice. All the staff is amazing!!! The entire hotel has mirrors everywhere which I love. They have a cute outside area off the 3rd floor. The restrooms are closed after certain time so you have to go to your room if you're still hanging around the hotel. The bar is nice, great food and drinks. Pool table rental is pretty pricey though.

Yelp
Maybe I really should have read the reviews before booking here because it was honestly the worst hotel experience I've had in a long time especially for paying like $300 a night. 1. Don't let the aesthetic fool you, although this hotel may look nice it smells like a 100 year old musty carpet. The hotel reeks of cigarettes and must. It was honestly uncomfortable. 2. We stayed for 3 nights and housekeeping only "cleaned" our room once. The towels were not replaced despite us leaving our used ones on the floor. We were also out of toilet paper and they did not leave more. So we didn't have towels or toilet paper upon returning from our long day. 3. The one time they did clean, housekeeping was nonstop knocking on our door at 8am on a Saturday...who does that?? And they wouldn't stop until I got out of bed and told them we are still on the room. 4. The room was cold so we adjusted the temperature to our liking on the first day. But every time we came back to the room the thermostat was changed?? I understand maybe the one time the housekeeper came in and changed it. But did someone just come into our room daily and just change the thermostat?? Kind of freaky. 5. The safety latch on our door was broken and also the actual lock on the handle, so no way to ensure privacy when you're in the room really. A staff member told us the hotel is run by local college kids studying hospitality - it shows.

Yelp
"Will you unzip my suitcase?" comes to mind as I think about my time at The Graduate hotel in Providence. Mr. Robinson won't be coming back for hours either, so feel free to use the bar on the 1st floor for your entertainment needs (the bar has 2 virtual golf/soccer/baseball bays) or the large suites for entertaining 1 or more guests! This hotel is a nice boutique hotel in Downtown which was recommended by a co-worker when staying here. The lobby is gorgeous and check-in was pretty easy and the staff was super friendly. I ended up with a room upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite which was nicely decorated and had a comfortable bed with AWESOME PILLOWS! Other hotels need to get a clue with pillows! There was security at the front door during the evening which was nice as the area seemed a bit sketchy. There were police lights and sirens and that buzz buzz cop car noise at various hours of the night. Maybe Mrs. Robinson was out looking to make a little extra cash? Did I mention Ceiling Fans above the bed? I usually prefer mirrors, strobes and spotlights, but the fan made it comfy for sleep. I'd imagine in the summer these come in handy. Depending on where I was going in Providence, I may stay here again. I'm a points snob so I'd rather stay at an IHG or Marriott property and earn points, but the rate for this place was pretty good for what you got!

Yelp
On a visit to Providence, I was able to grab a room for three nights at the Graduate for a great price! Love the location and architecture of the building. Located downtown, central to everything, the Graduate was previous a Biltmore Hotel which means it probably has a long and storied history. The lobby is old school, full of polished woods and had an old brass elevator leading to a second floor landing. Up there, you'll find the conference rooms and event space, it's all quite majestic and art deco retro. My room was quite nice and spacious. Funky prints, memorabilia that was RI specific and full of color. While the bathroom was old-school and small, the rest of the room and sitting room were super mod and funky. With a room that overlooked the downtown square, it felt like a unique experience to me. For the price, if you're visiting Providence, I don't think you can find a better spot while visiting. The Graduate exudes history, glam, and funky opulence. Really enjoyed my stay here and hopefully, you will too!

Yelp
This is one of my absolute favorite hotels ever! It is older but I just love that they embrace the age of the building. The decor is so unique and eclectic, yet it's on the classier side and is not tacky. They provide canned still water as well as Malin and Goetz bathroom products. The mezzanine is so beautiful so it's perfect for reading or working or even just chilling. I'd stay here every time I'm in Providence!

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. The people are outstanding, but the facilities really need work. The first room we were in had broken AC, but the second room was outstanding. The only problem there was that there was a wedding on the floor above us, and we're pretty sure the DJ's sound setup was literally above our room. It went until 11pm. I really hope they fix stuff up, this old hotel still has a lot of life left in it.

Yelp
I would never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel and I will be further action to rectify the wrongdoing on your hotel behalf. I will be posting public reviews and including pictures and videos of the multiple issues that seemingly happened one after another after another, which front desk staff didn't bat an eye at, telling that issues arise often and that your staff is aware and careless. I drove 4 hours to get to Providence to stay at your hotel and I left with more grief and stress than had I spent the weekend at work. I'm speechless. To say I'm disappointed is the understatement of the century. I'm beside myself. DO NOT STAY HERE. Pictures and videos to come. Broken shower (confirmed by engineering) Broken thermostats (confirmed by engineering) Had to sleep with window open like I was in a third world country (paid for a king suite) Vandalized / smashed car window in the garage the hotel gives a pass to park in and advertises with a large sign outside their entry. They took no responsibility, didn't show any remorse, and wouldn't even lend me a hand getting the glass out and off of the seat for my passenger to sit in for the 4 hour drive home. What a HORRIBLE experience.

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding at The Biltmore (along with a block of rooms and we stayed their our wedding night) and wow what a fall from Grace. No valet. You pay $35 to self-park and walk across a seedy alley to get to the hotel. Only three luggage carts for the whole hotel (which proved fruitless during check-in). No bell hop. The building is old, but that I don't mind so much. It's historic. However, the decor was horrendous. The Graduate has a "college party" theme that I personally find tacky rather than classic. The hallway carpet has strawberry donuts on it. Again, not the regal aire it once had. Even the in-room accommodations were rough. No smart-TV capabilities so we channel surfed. The only outlet in the bathroom was partially covered by the toilet so I had to remove the top of the toilet tank to use my hair dryer. The shower door also blocked the shower controls so you had to crane your arm and get wet in order to turn the shower on. The provided shampoo/conditioner/body wash were scented peppermint, cilantro and rum. Not only did they not mesh well but it was downright nauseating. Where's your standard coconut lime verbana? We survived. It was fine. The hotel Is unique. However, to pay what we did for a boutique downtown experience, a valet would have been nice.

Yelp
Easiest way to describe, you're paying a 4 star price for motel 6 amenities. Room is hot, ac doesn't work. Never saw a hotel that provides a box fan with each room, must be cheaper that fixing the HVAC system No microwave No bath tub No comforter on the bed Wall paper looks like it was hung by a 3 year old No ice machines Towels had a funky smell Shower curtain too short, dripping water all over bathroom floor Bed was comfortable Hotel might have been ok at 1/3 the price. For what we paid, there should have been better amenities, rooms should have been a lot nicer, more attentive staff and a functional heating and cooling system ..

Yelp
I tend to pan hotels on Yelp, not like them. But we liked this place and our room. We came into town spontaneously on a little road trip. We spent the night and enjoyed the room so much we stayed an extra night. I like the desk in the room. The only thing I would ask the management about is the creepy guy at the door both nights in a full head mask. It was cold, but not that cold. And he was inside. Weird. And he stared. That's not something you want to encounter every time you go in or out of a hotel.

Yelp
Such a wonderful history here! Recently under the Hilton brand, this hotel has so much character. We booked NYE in a "Larger Suite" room. This historical site is absolutely beautiful. We had a great time. Why the 3 stars? Well, nothing is affiliated with the hotel - the parking garage is a block away (no valet available), the restaurant (Reiners) isn't & the coffee shop either. I remember years ago when the glass elevator worked and the valet was available when it was a Biltmore. When we checked in, they said if the room was hot, open a window. Only one window worked, cracked it 2" max. Only one ice machine worked on the 4th floor for the entire hotel. Essentially it is in desperate need of a renovation. The food at Reiners was very good & service throughout the hotel was top notch. I would highly recommend a stay here for the character alone. If Hilton renovates this property while keeping the character, it will easily be a 5-star hotel.

Yelp
Great location but this place should have a full overhaul before they put the Graduate name on it. No ghosts which was nice as apparently this place is haunted? Although perhaps a cool chill as they passed by would have been nice as AC was out... 1. Air conditioner broken on 11th floor when we stayed. One of two windows opened a few inches which offered some respite but was hot and muggy. Took us until AM to see the fan on the ceiling! Loud outside and bright with windows open. 2. Lots of wear and tear in hotel room. They tried to update but there's still older carpet, dinged up base boards and trim, peeling wallpaper, etc. It's an old building and it shows. 3. Elevators are slow and old and too few for the large events and parties that took place there that weekend. (Multiple wedding parties...) 4. Charged extra for early check in saying they would have took cleaned and ready. We showed up and they didn't have hand or wash towels and no soap. 5. Walkway to garage has "not been open as long as I've been alive" per front desk. Have to walk around the block to garage. 6. Busy, dated interior that tries to be hip and stylish but needs a full, thoughtful renovation if you're going to be that kind of place. On the plus side... Front desk attendant was kind and professional and I'm sure had been getting earful from everyone about broken AC. Spend time with friends and we'll have some stories to remember. Offered 25% discount for inconveniences but no reply yet with receipt so TBD.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and helpful. They let us store our luggage prior to checking in that night. The room and appearance of the hotel is beautiful and nicely decorated. However, our room had some issues with the heat that made the carpet totally wet in the bedroom area. The bathrooms also do not have fans/ventilation and the ceiling was dripping after taking a hot shower.

Yelp
Disappointing from start to finish. TLDR: AC broken-No one cared or offered any real help or solution. Hotel run down, Not worth the money. Start with the major issue: AC not working. We arrived and all was good. Checked in, left the room and came back to a musky and hot room. Providence was in the mid 90s so this was just miserable. I spoke with the front desk and they said they would send a maintenance tech up. 2 hours later someone came and worked on some things (This was at around 11pm). Said they would be going to the roof and would report back. They did not. We dealt with it-saving grace being they had a ceiling fan. Next morning, we had a very early start. I went to front desk and told them that it was still HOT. They first said we cold just open a window. I said that was not a solution--as 1. it is in the middle of a loud city 2. It is hot outside too. 3. The room is not inexpensive and I just want air. Not asking a lot. They said a maintenance ticket was out but they didn't know when it would be fixed. I asked if they could move us to a room upon return and they said they could. Upon returning, we checked the room and it was still broken. Asked to be moved. And they said they were full. I told the girl, the person I spoke with this morning said there would be a room for us when we returned. After going to speak with someone, she said they did have a room but they needed to see if that AC worked. She told us to go to our room and pack and wait for a call. After 1.5 hours, no call....I just called down. Magically, we had a room. But we needed to come down and get keys---no offer to bring them or help move. Went down to get keys, waited in a long line and finally moved---this had been a good 2 hours from initial conversation. BUT....NEW ROOMS AC ALSO DID NOT WORK. At this point, we just dealt with it as we were leaving in the morning. The next morning, I did go tell them and to ask for some sort of discount. The man ahead of me also had the same problem. They told him they could not refund or offer any discount because he had prepaid in full (as did I). So now we are being penalized for paying it all up front. Thankfully this man was a little more forceful and asked for a manager (that never came out). But , the front desk did say they would give him (and now myself who had joined his conversation a whopping 15% discount). Which is laughable. I am waiting to see if they actually do anything as all he did was ask for our room number and wrote it on a random piece of paper (not our names, contact info...nothing else). All this to say, not once did anyone proactively offer a discount, offer to help, offer even bottle of water for our inconvenience. Nothing. Maybe had they pretended even slightly that they cared, I wouldnt be so angry about the whole experience. Now to add to that: The general look of the hotel is old. The bathrooms are DATED and dirty (like moldy caulk), scuff marks all over every wall from hallway to rooms, ceilings peeling in room, paper peeling off mirrors. Even leaving the AC portion out of this, it is NOT worth the price at all.

Yelp
Great hotel and staff. Excellent customer service! Located in very central part of town. Loved our stay. Highly recommend.

Yelp
They had no hot water and didn't tell us until the day we arrived. This wasn't enough time to get a new hotel. They didn't offer a discount, only allowed you to cancel your stay. Also there was no coffee maker in the room. The views were good but that was the highlight of it. The bed wasn't very comfortable, lumpy pillows.

Yelp
I didn't stay here - I only visited for a conference and had dinner here. The dinner was delicious and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. It was a great venue to host the large group of about 120 people. If you stay here, keep in mind... it's pretty haunted!

Yelp
* our wedding was absolutely beautiful however extremely disappointed with the valet parking/room block services. VALET PARKING. We were initially told when we first previewed the venue that Valet Parking was available at $25 per car. We were adamant that we wanted valet parking since the parking garage is not attached to the hotel and we did not want any of our older guests to have to make the walk. We decided we would pay the $25 per car for valet. Four months prior to the wedding we met to finalize details, we were told that the hotel does not provide valet parking and to book Valet would cost $3000 (which contradicts what was initially discussed). Again, we were ok with paying the $3000 because we had already indicated on the invitations that valet parking was available. However, TWO MONTHS before the wedding I informed the sales manager of the anticipated number of guests for Valet and were then advised that valet would be $3200 plus $20 per car and we would need to book within TWO days. This was outrageous as we have been clearly given the run around about parking! Causing unnecessary stress two months before my wedding was extremely disappointing. After discussing the situation with my husband and parents it was decided that anything over $3000 was such a scam! We opted to have our guests park in the garage and we would still validate their parking at $25 a car. Having to scramble to contact guests last minute to inform them of the parking change was very stressful. I hope this alleviates some stress for future brides who chose to book with them because this information would have been useful to know! ROOM BLOCK. Hosting our wedding at the hotel, we reserved a block of rooms. I would assume that a ROOM BLOCK means that a certain number of rooms are reserved, all located on the same floor and are allowed early check-in due to the fact that they are attending the event. Not in this case. The only rooms reserved were by my mother-in-law, three bridesmaids, and two groomsmen. All being part of the wedding, they were advised upon booking that early check-in would be available if you call the week of the wedding. All parties contacted the hotel the week of the wedding to ensure early check in due to the fact they were all getting ready on site, ceremony was offsite at 2:00 pm followed by photos and would not arrive back to the hotel until 5:30 (the middle of cocktail hour). Every single person was told that the hotel does not offer early check in and their best bet was to contact the hotel at 9:00am the morning of. UNACCEPTABLE. I contacted the sales manager and hotel manager and both told me there was nothing they could do! In the morning all six people contacted the front desk and were told to call back at 12! This resulted in my mother-in-law, three bridesmaids, and two groomsmen having to check into their rooms when we arrived back at the hotel during cocktail hour just before the reception AND all hotels were scattered on different floors, so much for a room block! This was completely negligent on the hotel's part. You are fully aware that people are arriving early to check in for an event and you are completely unprepared. It is also unfair to the people in my party who can't even enjoy cocktail hour because they are rushing to check into their rooms! Extremely disappointing

Yelp
I loved my stay here at the Graduate and was so sad that we were only there for 1 night. It's not often that you get two kings instead of queens or doubles but you do here. The place was spacious and decorated in such a fun and unique way. It was also very clean, which is important to me. I would 100% stay here again. Beware of reviews that use an outside booking agency. Learned my lesson a long time ago to book directly with the hotels themselves.

Yelp
I don't ever recall being so disappointed in all the time I have traveled. We were on a personal trip to Providence for a variety of activities. Having attended college there, I was very familiar with the Biltmore Hotel, a Providence landmark not a Graduate Hotel - better named "undergraduate hotel". The web site certainly made the hotel attractive and worth a few dollars more to experience it. We were surprised to learn that the hotel had neither valet parking or bell hops. Parking was a block away but when it's 25 degrees and sleeting, who wants to take a stroll. At check in (staffed by local students who were quite nice but not well informed) we were told that there was no dining option in the hotel at 2:45 when we arrived - this coming after a 2.5 hour drive. The establishment connected to the hotel (physically but not organizationally) would not be open until 4:00. We were advised to go to a certain location where there were many establishments within walking distance. Are there windows in the manager's office? No one was doing much walking in a serious winder mix storm. As we prepared to leave, and thinking the worst was over, there was no coffee to be had because another non-hotel operation did not open on time ... we were there 45 minutes after they were to be open. But we were reminded of the instant coffee option in our room. Seriously? Even a lower end Marriott has a Kurig-type coffee maker. This was really the perfect wrap up to a very disappointing trip. Live and Learn -- and I hope this will alert others.

Yelp
Attending a black tie event in March 2024 on a cold windy evening being told there is no valet parking and having to walk in heels with my hair ruined from a parking garage was ridiculous! Was also told if you are a guest of the hotel there is NO VALET! The Biltmore Hotel was elegant years ago and managed well. Sad to see a beautiful landmark come to this.

Yelp
Great reception, room custodians and bell staff. The Reiners Restaurant and Poindexter Cafe bartenders and servers are very attentive. The rooms are clean, well decorated, and amply stocked with towels and toiletries. There is Biltmore Parking which can be included during your stay with in/out privileges. They offer dining thru room service as well. The Norwich Spa which just recently opened was a saviour. I booked a Deep-Tissue massage and pedicure and it was heaven. Their appointments are very well spaced out so that there are no other clients in the spa to give you maximum relaxation and full use of their amenities after your massage. Tourist sites, clubs, LGBTQIA+ bars, restaurants, Brown, Johnson & Wales, Providence College, University of Rhode Island are all of walking distance or few minutes drive away from the hotel. If you want to venture out to Newport and historic sites there are scheduled ferries which operates from late Spring up to early Autumn. Roger Williams Zoo and Botanical Gardens are a few minutes ride via car, Uber or Lyft. These are great for those who have children. If you want a classic, turn-of-the-century experience at Providence this hotel is the place to stay.

Yelp
Terrible front staff attitude. We reserved on Hotels.com (now owned by Expedia) a room for three. The room in fact only fits two with no possibility of fitting a cot, it's a small room. When we went to find a solution, the staff basically said "not our problem". After a back and forth they agreed to refund the rate and we would find alternate accommodations elsewhere. As a real estate owner I feel for the ownership here. The management staff (we were talking to the manager in addition to the front desk person) doesn't care in the least and has a totally belligerent attitude. I understand they do not control the hotels.com website, but the better response would have been "so sorry, this sometimes/never happens, we will inform management tonight. Let's see what we can do to help you. These are the three hotels in the area we would recommend... etc etc." In the end we found much better and more affordable accommodations elsewhere. Avoid this place at all costs. And be careful about hotels.com bookings. I used to swear by them, no longer.

Yelp
I am SO glad that I booked this hotel before reading the reviews! I needed a hotel for a night because I was going to a concert at The Stand and wanted to be close to the venue. Graduate was within my budget and a 4 min walk from the venue so I didn't have to struggle finding parking. There's no valet but that's quite alright, the parking garage is very close (and oddly enough, we could actually see our car from our hotel room). The lobby staff were very friendly and helpful with the checkin process and they gave a good amount of attention to our dog. The elevators aren't very quick but it's not an issue when there's four of them and we stayed on level 5 so it really wasn't that bad. Our room (526) was right next to the elevators which is convenient and preferred. The room itself is huge! There are two full bathrooms, a living area and desk, and a bedroom with French doors closing off from the living room. There's also a large closet in the bedroom. There are two TVs, a Keurig machine, and amazing full size bath products so you have no worries about needing to ask for more products. Everything was clean, well decorated, and comfortable. We had no control over the AC but we were told if it's too warm, we can turn off the heater and open the window (which is the first hotel I've stayed at that have moveable windows). We were really impressed with this hotel and I'm in shock by the poor reviews. It's an immaculate hotel for a low price.

Yelp
The Graduate Providence provided a welcome respite from some winter weather recently. It has a vintage vibe that's fun. There's a good bar/restaurant downstairs, so you don't even have to venture outside, if you don't want to. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 days and it qas nice to take pics, parking garage is close by, convention center is within walking distance. Some say its haunted. Some of the desk people were not friendly. But the bed was fine and clean, had no peiblems.

Dan M.

Yelp
Great place, super cute and kitschy decor, but the AC unit cover was not attached at all. It fell away from the wall to reveal a truly filthy machine with bare wiring loose and easily reached. Looks as if when the room was gutted and the AC rewired to the wall thermostat, the workers just slapped the cover back without cleaning the unit at all, with two screws that didn't even hit their target. Sloppy and dangerous and gross to think the room air was being circulated through this.

Yelp
The hotel is centrally located and tries to project a hip, boutique look/feel. The room was also quite large which is a plus. However, I would never stay there again. The biggest problem was that this is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in the North America or Europe. My wife and I are avid travellers and even in the developing world, I'm not sure we have ever encountered a room this dirty before (and I can assure you we do NOT stay at places like the Ritz or Four Seasons). We checked in late (near midnight) and as we were preparing to go to bed, I discovered the state of the toilet. As you can see from the photo, you can it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. The other photos give you an indication of just how dirty the room was. We found an old comb on the floor which shows no one had been vacuuming the room as well. It was so late at night that we didn't want to complain and change rooms since we were already in our PJs and had unpacked. When I discussed this and the lack of soap and shampoo (see below for details) with the front desk the following morning, the clerk just said "sorry" but did not do anything else nor raised the possibility of anything being done about the situation. Other issues with the hotel: 1. I discovered that there was no shampoo or body wash in the dispensers in the shower. Unfortunately, I was already soaking wet by this time and had to wash my hair with the one tiny bar of soap provided. Again, clearly housekeeping had not checked the dispensers in quite some time since they were both completely empty 2. The parking garage for the hotel is across the street and is a 6 story building. If you checkout on Sunday, the elevator is locked. We had to climb 6 flights of stairs with our suitcases. 3. There are two gates to get out of the parking garage. One of them was malfunctioning so that people had to merge into the one gate to exit. It took us more than 30 minutes to get out of the garage after we had checked out. Overall, I would avoid this hotel. It's pretty clear to me that there are known problems but that management chooses to ignore the issues while making making comments to the effect that "we're sorry we were unable to meet your expectations" in the reviews. The level of filth in this hotel was unique in my experience and the staff's reaction to customer comments speaks volumes.

Yelp
Hard no. Feel absolutely violated by what I paid for this place/ what I got. Took a trip with a lifelong friend, and we got a suite, because she wanted a pull out couch bed. We were first given someone's Honeymoon suite on accident, (and lord help them), and then given a higher up room of the same design, which was much hotter, and with a semi-functional a/c. We had the engineer out multiple times to help us, but I think it's just old building problems, not fully addressed when they repurposed the building. So after one night we asked to move, and were given a much smaller "suite" that smelled of stale smoke, but at least the a/c worked. We legit bought a candle to combat the stench. The place seems tired as hell even with the grad "refresh." I don't care how many bold prints and oddities you put in the room, you cannot compensate for bad smell, non-functional a/c or only ok mattresses. Due to weddings in the building, the elevators were swamped at times, and could not accommodate lots of people. Just a pain. My friend booked the room, and no way I'd have paid Ritz-Carlton prices for this Motel 6 experience.

Yelp
I hate to leave poor reviews for venues when the issue is out of their control, but I think future travelers need to know how potentially noisy the area can be. Club music was thumping though our closed windows till 1AM. There were additional loud noises coming from the beer garden on the other side of the hotel, so even with a room change, we would have been awake for hours bothered by the excessive volume. Though the room was well designed and aesthetically lots of fun, it may be time to have peeling wall paper re-stuck and chipped walls repainted All that being said, the lobby was stunning, the room was adorably designed, the beds were comfy, the walk-in closet was a much appreciated feature, and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
The only reason why I'm giving any stars because the front desk staff are friendly (nice when they lie to you and/or are incompetent). Plus - the place is unique. I loved the history of the hotel (old Billtmore, operative word is OLD - doesn't have the sophistication, elegance, or attentiveness that the Biltmore would have had back in the day)... as a lot of the reviews point out there was a lot of attention to the eclectic design, which I appreciate but not enough attention is paid to up keep and cleaning. Our room (junior suite) was spacious and odd in a good way, but the horrible smell (like a urinal) in the bathroom and the dust and grime in the rooms was gross. We checked in late (7ish) and were leaving in the morning so we were going to put up with it, BUT when I turned down sheets and found a hair in the bed (clearly not mine!!!) I had to complain. I asked downstairs for someone to change sheets and no one was available to do it. They offered us a single bed to change rooms (it was about 10pm when this happened)... but i did not want a single bed nor did I want to uproot everything to move so I got sheets and made my own bed. I had this privilege AND paid FULL price for my reservation... BUT that's not the end of it - I was charged for parking (after I already paid for it in my room rate AND I wasn't given everything that my room rate said it came with - a $30 credit to the restaurant ended up being a $15 drink voucher!) when I complained about these two things the staff was nice enough to make changes but I also complained that I had to make my own bed - at $300/night you would think I could have someone make the bed for us!!! Upon complaining I was told I would get a refund- of which I had to HOUND them for and they didn't honor the refund they told me I was to get (surprised?). Well... note to self when I visit my kid at college I will NOT be coming back to this hotel! It's a shame because the other graduate hotels are so well run... this one is a mess in more ways than one. Anyhow the front desk said they would help to rectify this, and it's been over a week and half and still nothing. I have called, left messages and nada... I hear hotels in providence are not that great... but yeah def not going back to this one. For that $ I'll stay somewhere that will be clean and have clean sheets and I don't have to make my own bedor deal with incompetent staff!

Yelp
The room was gorgeous and big! There multiple rooms inside your room and the closet alone is big enough to sleep 2! Everyone was so friendly! Just know that you have to park in a garage and walk around. But you can just do valet if you have an issue with that.
