Had a great stay, lovely accommodation in private separate cottages strung across the hillside, with spectacular views (especially sunset) across the Firth Of Thames. Welcoming hosts, lovely friendly service, and I recommend booking direct. There's a pool & BBQ area if the weather is cooperating, and allow some time to appreciate the owners remarkable wood carvings dotted around the site. It has a steep concreted drive, fine in a car and gave me a good workout on a bicycle! I will be back.

Stayed during the off season when it was a bit cold, the cozy room was perfect. Adorable property, lovely and warm proprietor, quiet rooms on a hillside with fruit trees. Amazing view of the firth and a feeling of seclusion. So glad we chose to stay here and will absolutely stay again if we find ourselves in Thames again.

We booked this after reading other reviews and find it hard to believe no-one else had a similar opinion. We had the furthest room from the office and it was a long walk with lots of steps from the car park to get our suitcases to the room. The room was very tired, pokey and poorly maintained. In fact most of the cottages looked to be in a state of disrepair. The windows in our room were rotten and mouldy The bathroom was tiny. This morning the blind cord broke when we tried to open it. On a positive note the views were awesome. Would we stay again ? No

If your reading this review then your obviously thinking about staying in Thames. Book now. Just do it. I recently stayed here and loved the place. My room was very nice and comfortable. This place is like a little oasis. I was here mid winter. I can only imagine what the gardens will be like during summer. It's setup like a tropical island. Book now you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic character cottages with hill views over the bay. We had the Camelia room with a king bed and balcony, perfect for morning coffee and evening drinks. Comfy bed, nice sheets, and warm blankets. Great nights sleep. Shower has excellent pressure. Easy drive into town. Highly recommend A+++

Stayed in the amazing Rata Chalet--the view from the deck and the room was amazing. Watched the sun and the moon set and enjoyed the beautiful sea air and view. The room was very clean and well appointed--very kind amenities (like a biscuit and nightcap!) and continental breakfast (I booked through the Grafton Cottage website). The bed was comfortable and the location unbeatable. Highly recommend!

Super friendly host Alby had our cottage all warmed up when we showed up cold, muddy and wet from bike riding the Hauraki Rail Trail. Nice kitchenette, coffee/tea/hot chocolate and milk in the fridge on arrival. Free charging of e-bike. *super* comfy beds and amazing view.|Great experience overall!|(Be forewarned, if your biking legs are tired or you run out of battery, the hill to get there is daunting). The view is worth it though!

This place is a hidden gem. Seriously! So beautiful, naturistic and serene 😍 Located just off the main strip in Thames, perfect access for all the Kauengarau valley walks if your into hiking like me or just a nice quiet spot to relax for any occasion. High enough in the hills for an amazing view of Thames. The hot spa at night looking up at the stars is a good way to wind down after a long day. The chalets are gorgeous, clean and have everything you need, so if your like me and want the comfort of home when you go away it's great for that. Family friendly, single friendly and couple friendly. Whatever your situation I gaurentee itll be a hit. Alby and his wife are warm and welcoming. Thanks for hosting us. Highly recommend. 5 plus stars for me and I will definitely be back 🌱

Yelp
This was a wonderful place to stay a night between days of exploring. Glynda met us with freshly baked cookies and homemade Baileys and left us to enjoy the gorgeous view overlooking the water. We also got to enjoy a wonderful breakfast on our private deck table overlooking the valley and water below. The driveway was quite a climb but the view was well worth it. I would highly recommend the cottages for a peaceful place to stay surrounded by beautiful fauna and wildlife. Loved it!
