Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort

Amazing hotel! Can see why its part of Best hotels in the world! Went for some R&R in January and it certainly delivered! Had read a few reviews about rude staff, but couldn't be further from the truth, everyone wanted to help. Rooms were lovely, food was out of the world and reasonably priced. Resturants were very good about serving wine by glass and not going for most expensive wine. everywhere was so lovely and clean. Will definately be back!

whilst the position of the hotel is really beautiful with views out to sea, many different outdoor swimming pools and plenty of poolside seating, it is far from being in its prime. It has an air of faded glory, needing an uplift.|The bedroom we occupied was a garden room, but felt more dated than purely traditional. It was, however well equipped in terms of wardrobe space; a very comfortable king-sized bed with linen that was always clean. We had a lovely bathroom with separate cubicles for shower and toilet plus a double sink. There were plenty of fresh clean towels and good toiletries. |We booked on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was very good - plenty of choice and adequate seating. the staff here and everywhere in the hotel were very good.|The reason for the average rating overall is because the hotel food was dreadful in all the restaurants except the Brasseries and the Ulla Loopa. Room service was efficient and served by very obliging staff. Despite sending dishes back when served because they were cold to tepid. When we ordered we always asked to be presented with a meal that was piping hot but this didn't happen - not once - and the actual dishes were tasteless often, I would guess that the chef was at best, inexperienced. Not once did we complain officially until the last day when after being extremely ill following the gala dinner for new year's eve. we explained our views, in the hope that the hotel can 'up its game' in this area.|I doubt that we will return within the

Exceptional experience here at Bahia del Duque, great value for money, cannot recommend it enough. One of my favourite leading hotels properties! I found here peace and relax from the moment I stepped in, also spent hours walking around exploring every corner, every bridge, every staricase...each of them unique. Someone said this place has a soul, and I could feel it. Room was comfortable and spacious, with a lovely terrace! I loved the molton brown products in the bathroom. Excellent wifi connection in all the areas. From the pool area you can go directly onto the beach (public), which is a great plus. The Spa worths the extra charge if you're looking for some more privacy and rigenarate your body. And you can withness breathtaking sunsets from here! We had a wonderful stay over Christmas, largely thanks to the incredible staff who truly delivered a 5 star experience. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, including the teams in all of the restaurants, where both the service and the food were consistently good. A special mention must go to Patrick in Casas Ducales and Luis at the Beach Club, both were outstanding and made our stay feel extra special. ||The only minor letdown was the pools, which were unfortunately far too cold to comfortably swim in. It would be great if at least one pool were heated to a more comfortable temperature. The rooms were clean and spacious but felt a little dated in places and could benefit from a refurb. Some of the plugs didn’t work, and a few modern updates would really help bring the rooms in line with the otherwise high standard of the hotel. ||Aside from that, the exceptional service and dining were real highlights and helped distinguish this hotel from many others.

We went for a massage and the spa circuit, so I cannot say what the rooms were like. The receptionist, gate way gentleman, and masseuses were all very friendly and kind. The massage (a relaxing massage) was wonderful, it was my first massage and I will definitely get more. The spa was amazing too. The pool is saltwater and the jets are lovely. Had a spin in the sauna and hammam, not for me, but I had never tried them before, so worth the experience.

Second visit to this hotel with a good friend for our annual "Escape from Grey London Hell" week to Tenerife. Our 10th year on the island, having stayed perviously at the Mencey (Santa Cruz many times) and Hacienda Conde in the North of the island.|On arrival, my room had only a shower. My pal had a bath and shower. I need a bath as my lower back is wrecked after a flight.|I rang reception and a rather indifferent lady said "not all rooms come with a bath" which is not a) what to say b) should occur in a 5* hotel.|I asked to be put through to a manager and it was Jacob on duty. He met with me, sat down, and I explained my issue. He was delightful: understanding and professional. I was moved. Easy as that.|It's a great hotel. Breakfast is excellent, and the terrace is a perfect way to start any day.|Rooms are spacious, housekeeping is superb and I have few issues.|My only daily problem was that drinks orders are never taken in the adults only section around the pool. This happened last year too.|Now, we are not incapable of walking 50 yards into the restaurant to order a drink of course; but, its always super busy there and you feel out of place and uncomfortable (friendly as everyone is working there) in all the bustle of service.|Please send someone once an hour to take some drinks orders - especially in that hear - in the adults area.|Otherwise, another great stay.|All restaurants on this visit were good (Sua, especially). The trattoria sat us with a load of families/ screaming kids right at the back of the restaurant on our first night. Meh, but OK. Then, they tried to seat us in the same dismal back area on our second visit, despite tables being available all over the restaurants terraces/balcony and tables near to them. I said we would not be happy sitting at the back again, for the same reasons as night 1, and the manager of the restaurant said they had just received a call and a cancellation and we could sit outside. Please! That was odd. |Service staff were always friendly and the food good.|Shout out to all the people working at the Wine Bar: fun, welcoming, knowledgeable and very good cocktails!

Our stay at Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque in Costa Adeje ended on a very disappointing note due to unclear spa charges and incorrect information from the concierge regarding the Virtuoso dining credit. Main issues affecting our rating: 1. No hotel-owned beach loungers – The beach in front of the hotel is public, and sun loungers must be hired separately at €20, which was a major disappointment for a hotel of this calibre. 2. Spa charges not disclosed – We were charged €35 per person for spa use without being informed beforehand, despite using it on two days. 3. Virtuoso credit not honoured – We were told by concierge that our meal at Kensei would be covered by our Virtuoso credit, but this was later refused at checkout. My top tip: check your bill carefully for surprises. We had spa charges added without warning and a dining credit that was meant to be included but wasn’t. Location & Arrival The hotel is located along a busy dual carriageway with constant foot traffic and music along the promenade, which detracts from the sense of exclusivity. The main entrance is grand with a high ceiling and old-world charm. Check-in was smooth, but no upgrade was offered despite our Virtuoso booking. Parking is a short walk past the concierge and fountain area. Room (339 – Garden View) The room was a good size, but the interior design felt poorly thought out and mismatched. There was a confusing mix of terracotta floors, white and green tiles, dark wood cupboards, beach-style side tables, grey headboard, brown and grey furniture, and green accents that didn’t come together cohesively. Lamps didn’t match, and furniture appeared to be from different eras (cherry, walnut, birch), making the room feel dated and inconsistent. The view was disappointing. Privacy was limited due to surrounding terraces and rooms looking down. Nice touches included fresh flowers and a bottle of Freixenet. Bathroom was spacious with a bathtub, separate shower and toilet, and Molton Brown toiletries. Noise was an issue: neighbours in room 338 checking out at 5:30am were loud, and upstairs guests with a child running around early in the morning disturbed our sleep. Pools & Grounds The sun beds are comfortable, and the gardens are pleasant, but the biggest issue remains the lack of a private beach lounge area, which is very surprising for a luxury beachfront resort. Spa The spa was disappointing for several reasons: • Opening hours are limited (10am–6pm), making it unusable as a relaxing pre-dinner option. • The spa area is mostly outdoors, making it uncomfortable in cooler or rainy weather. • The hydrotherapy pool is large and well-equipped, but we noticed leaves in the water that were not cleaned for days. • The hammam was decent, but the dry sauna was small and had an unpleasant smell. Most frustrating was the €35 per person charge, which was not disclosed at the time of user the second time we visited. Breakfast Breakfast was good on the first day but very disappointing on the second due to tile works that closed the terrace entrance, causing congestion and long queues. Issues included: • Long waits for seating and at the egg station • Lack of glasses for cava and juice • Fruit not being replenished promptly • Pastries tasting mass-produced • Overcooked bacon, average sausages, and underwhelming scrambled eggs • Juice machines breaking down frequently Checkout – the biggest disappointment Checkout was chaotic and frustrating. We were charged: • €35 per person for spa access (without prior disclosure) • A Kensei restaurant bill that we were explicitly told would be covered by our Virtuoso credit — which the hotel later refused to honour. This left a very poor final impression after what was otherwise a mixed but not terrible stay.

Stayed at both the Ritz Carlton Abama and Bahia del Duque, and Bahia del Duque was the far superior experience. There wasn’t anything necessarily bad about the Ritz, but it felt more cooperate and suffered from the conglomerate goop that focuses more on profits than the customer experience. Bahia del Duque was the opposite; extremely kind and welcoming staff and the utmost attention to detail. Would definitely return in the future. Also wanted to say that Raquel (manager) was super nice and handled a situation we experienced with the best of care.
