I am with a tour group and this is where we are staying for a night. Great location next to the plaza and near several restaurants. There are interesting chapels just out the door and three blocks away is the harbor and market. The hotel itself is grand with marble floors and elegant furniture. Staff are 100% attentive. The rooms are nice. Basic but who comes to Veracruz to stay in the room? I tried the unheated pool. A little chilly but I'm sure I'm a hot summer day it is perfect. Great place stay. Wonderful hotel.

We had reserved two rooms ahead of time of the Easter weekend. Upon arrival, the front desk worker informed us that one of the rooms that was assigned to us was having 'AC issues' and he was only giving us the option to refund one of the rooms and put all of my family members in one room (5 adults and a newborn). I informed them that the option to all stay in ONE room was not an option for us. He continued to tell me the very inappropriate reason why the AC wasn't working (he told me that the couple that stayed there the night before performed s*xual acts that messed up the AC; completely inappropriate!!) and also argued that they had no more rooms available to switch me to but then mistakenly told me that the room they were trying to offer me, he had previously offered to another family fore us and they declined. I got angry at this point because they were basically just trying to push that room on to us now and push for us to all stay in one room instead. I ended up demanding for them to assign me another room because he clearly just admitted that there was in fact more rooms available. He came back and said no more words to me, gave me the keys to our two rooms and moved on to help the next person. Completely disrespectful to try and take advantage of our family's stay this way. Upon entering the rooms, we noticed how badly upkept the whole hotel was. Shower was dirty, the AC was set to one temperature and we were freezing at night; we ended up turning off the AC completely. The beds only had one thin blanket too & pillows were hard. Overall, the worst experience and would NOT recommend, nor would I ever stay here again.

Great place! My favourite , when I want to fill up my soul of happiness Spectacular view and just in the heart of the historic area of the city. Lots of fun just across the street.

Gran Hotel Diligencias has a great location, right on the Zocolo. The hotel itself, although once obviously grand, is showing its age and obvious neglect. The furniture is dated, the bathroom was moldy and dirty, and the shower sliding door did not move. The humidity of the room was such that the towels did not dry during the day, although the hotel encouraged keeping them. A pair of cotton underwear we washed while there where still damp after 5 days in the hotel!|There were three of us in the room and we were only given two towels of dubious quality and age, even after repeatedly asking for an additional towel. They also only gave us one small bottle of water for the three of us and they did not provide even one glass. The room did not have a TV remote and it was an ordeal getting one from reception. We were told there is no English programming, although the dialogue could be set for English with Spanish subtitles for programs using the remote. In an attempt to demonstrate their worldliness, the clocks at reception showed times in New York, Madrid and Mexico. We repeatedly told them that the time for New York was wrong as it was showing 2 hours ahead of Mexico, rather than 1. They said they would change it and did not. |This hotel could be really fantastic with some upgrades, care and more attentive staff. It has good basic "bones" and a history as one of the oldest hotels in Mexico. We would not recommend this hotel to others visiting Veracruz.

We stayed at the hotel in room 124 for one night, and although we wanted to like it, we would probably not stay again.||The staff were friendly, but they only had one person working the check-in with 40 people checking in at the same time. The guy who delivered luggage did an amazing job and worked extremely hard.||The hotel is in a great location right across from the main plaza, and you could see its former grandeur. The public areas seemed well kept and decorated; however, the rooms have definitely seen better days. And, by virtue of its location and also being right above a club, it was very noisy late into the night which made sleeping difficult.||Tiles in the bathroom floor were chipped, and there was a handle missing in the vanity. There was mode where the shower glass meets the tile, and it was difficult to get hot water and very little water pressure. The shampoo and shower gel were not labeled and were in small, individual containers that were not labeled.||As far as other things, the air conditioner worked, but it sounded like a jack hammer each time it turned on. The curtains were ripped and hanging off the rod, and the elevator walls were chipped.||If we were to return we would most likely try to find a different hotel.

This is the second time at this hotel and second time in Veracruz. The location is good. Rooms are clean. Mattresses are hard but the pillows are good. However, both times there was tension with the front desk people. This time Cynthia (spelling?) was very dismissive bordering rude. Another guest standing next to us (at the front desk) confirmed the same treatment for them and that the front desk was not able to follow their instructions.

Very good price, rooms are in need of repair. we asked for two glasses for our water and they did not arrive. Lots of hot water. Good windows that blocked out the noise and good air conditioning

Stayed at this hotel (room 215 & 216) when we visited Veracruz Civic Center. The hotel looks nice from outside as it is freshly painted yellow & white. The rooms are good size but the bed mattresses are old, lumpy. The rooms smell like body odor, and that goes for sheets, towels, and pillows. The bathroom has a strong smell of sewer. The room safe was broken as the rest of the dilapidated hotel. The sheets are dingy, stained, and cheap quality. The bathroom tiles are filthy, with black mold in tile grout lines and broken tiles through the bathroom. The towels were dingy and poor quality. The pool area floor was dirty, and the furniture was metal without any cushions. Elevator walls were peeling, and the hallway carpet looked like nobody vacuumed it, plus it was filthy. There are plenty of bars around the hotel as one in the hotel that plays loud music every day until wee hours of the night. The hotel reception staff were very rude and not accommodating. We arrived around noon, and rooms were not given until after 3 pm. The same rude lady charged me upon check-in and failed to charge me correctly, and at checkout, she made it seem like it was my fault? The only nice thing to say about this hotel is location.

Yelp
Needs a deep cleaning and update. The hotel is in a great location and was clean for the most part. The bathroom was disgusting though; The tub had black mold thru out, the tub was cracked in several places, the shower head was so clogged with calcium, it sprayed everywhere. You could literally wash your face and your feet at the same time. The in-room safe was broken and has been for several months according to a previous review of the same room. They gave us 3 hangers for a week long stay for two people. There was some type of construction/renovation going on above our room that sounded like someone chipping away at the walls with a hammer and lasted well past 10:00pm. The staff in the hallways had their walkies-talkies turned up so high that it sounded like they were in our room. The street noise/music is no fault of the hotel, but it is worth noting that it lasted until 2:00am and was loud enough to disturb our sleep...
