What a Gem! We are living near buy… we have almost the same view… but the new management company the new refurbishment is amazing … we know this hotel since some years but after a busy day in town you will feel on holidays ! Servie is good room are nice and well refurbished ! And the view !!!

Perched on the side of a mountain with a breath taking view of the city! Was greeted upon arrival and overall staff was pleasant. The downfall is lack of building maintenance which is sad since the place is beautiful and rich with history! Multiple areas in hallway ceilings noted something was fixed but no touching up was done so it looked tacky and definitely not 5 star quality. Our room was spacious with beautiful high ceilings and an amazing view. Bed was actually two beds placed together so the center had a gap. Bathroom with multiple water stains from prior leaks. Toilet requires full body strength when pushing button (no joke). Heated rack did not work and also had multiple water stains where it was attached to the wall. Honestly I was disappointed that they are not keeping up with maintaining the beautiful place. Just because it’s old does not mean it has to be falling apart. Money should be going towards painting/remodeling/fixing things! To be 5 star you need to act/look 5 star. TV is limited to local channels. Old model television therefore not interactive. Smells a bit like mildew/must.

The perfect start to our honeymoon. We We’re lucky enough to be staying in a suite so my comments can only relate to that and not the deluxe rooms, but the room was stunning. It was so comfortable and had a huge outdoor terrace, marble bathrooms and the best view of sunrise I’ve ever seen. Like other reviews have mentioned, the shower took a while to get to temperature but if you haven’t got 5 mins for a shower to warm up when you’re on holiday in the middle of a mountain, when have you? You do need to be prepared to get a taxi into the city which is about €25 each way so if you want convenience to get into the city this isn’t the place for you. However if you want to feel you’re escaping the hustle and bustle and retreating to some calm I couldn’t think of anywhere better. The staff were amazing, real 5* treatment, all the food was wonderful and the views are breathtaking. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Gran Hotel La Florida for 2 weeks. I was in Barcelona for surgery and recovery was made so much easier due to the exceptional service, beautiful views and good food. The highlight for us was one particular staff member named Alix. She was so kind and thoughtful. I was unable to sit comfortably after my surgery and was having room service (which was great) but she arranged a stand up table so I could experience the glorious views from the back deck and venture out of our room. This is just one example of the many things she did to make our stay comfortable. She is a wonderful asset to this hotel.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying for four blissful days at this magnificent five-star hotel. I was extremely fortunate to be upgraded to the magnificent tower suite, which was an absolute delight! It had such a variety of rooms, an outside spa, marble bathrooms, and the most incredible views of the magnificent city of Barcelona. Everything at this hotel is absolutely perfect, from the interior, rooms, bedding, food, and service. The only slight downside is the quite a long drive (by taxi, which I'm sure you'll agree is quite pricey!) to and from the hotel, which is about 10km uphill from Barcelona, taking about 30 minutes. This is such a lovely hotel for groups or families and the spa is really lovely. However, if you're looking for a place to relax and unwind, then this is the perfect spot. It's not really the place for sightseeing as it's quite far from the main sights!

Extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. The restroom on the mountain top was out of order, and we asked to use the hotel's bathroom, which was the only one nearby. We even offered to buy something from the hotel in exchange, but the manager was rude and unhelpful. The original doorman would like to help us which we really appreciate. However, the manager showed up and refused to let us use the restroom, threatening that more people would come if they allowed us to. In reality, there were no other visitors, and the mountain was already near the closed timing when we arrived. A kind and considerate person would have seen this as an opportunity to help and even promote the hotel in a positive light. Instead, the manager showed a complete lack of empathy, which left us with a very bad impression and leave other people in the feeling of desperate. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this place at all, considering the manger there is mean, lack of empathy and rude.

Overall, I can say that this hotel offers what it promises. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door of our car and our bags were taken inside. Beautiful entrance. Although a bit of a small turn around area however the porter was excellent. Our initial room beautiful and spacious on the 5th floor. It did have some faults. The ceiling in the bathroom leaked and the AC was not functioning. The hotel staff immediately upgraded us and helped with the movement. It’s why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars. Pros- the service and luxury. The hotel is a bit older but offers so much in food and service that it makes up for it. The views of the city and surrounding area are stunning. We ordered room service and it was reasonable and delicious. They delivered it promptly. The cart folded into an actual table instead of a tiny tray. We ate the restaurant one night, it was a bit over priced but the service was good. We ordered the fish and chips with a Cesar salad all was delicious. Our favorite was the carrot cake. Con’s- if you do not like to drive do not stay here. This is about 20 -30 min drive into the city center without traffic. This is an off the beaten path place. The route to get to the hotel is a bit winding. We would definitely stay here again. Please note you must have a car to stay here. The bus stop is located a mile or more away from the hotel. There is a theme park but it does not disturb the quiet location.

The food here is AMAZING and the presentation is perfection. Service was excellent and the wait staff was happy to explain the menu and make delicious suggestions!

This is a beautiful hotel with breathtaking views. The food is excellent, the service outstanding. Why not 5 stars? Because once you're here, it's very difficult to leave and explore the city. I could not call a Cabify (rideshare), as no one would come get me. There aren't taxis just driving by. That said, I was here for work and knew what I was there for. If you're on holiday and want to enjoy the city for all it's worth, this is not your place. If you need to get away and rest, this could just be the ticket.

Situated upon a small mountain called Tibidado, Gran Hotel la Florida is a beautiful hotel that offers scenic views. Although I would agree that a few things are a bit run-down, it is, in my opinion, still a very lovely hotel. The suites are comfortable and large, with nice, comfortable beds and air-conditioning that actually works (something I've come to really appreciate during my stay here in Spain, where most of the air-conditioning systems are crap). Again, when you look a little more closely, you will see that the hotel is getting old and that a lot of little things could/should be replaced, but I don't think it's a terribly big deal; after all, the price per night for this hotel was awesome. I feel that--for what I paid--I got a great deal. I ended up getting a junior suite, which was only a hundred dollars more per night than what I spent on my tiny hotel room in Madrid, and I was very happy with it. It has a beautiful bathroom, a little balcony, and a separate living area in which you can curl up and enjoy a good book after a long day of walking the crowded streets of Barcelona. It's got a lounge where you can enjoy coffee, a drink, or a little food on a terrace overlooking the city of Barcelona, or--should you be in the mood for a gastronomic adventure--a restaurant called L'Orangerie. However, as much as I like the hotel, I don't think I would ever stay here again if I were to return to Barcelona. Like I said, it's situated upon a small mountain, which means you have to spend about 20-25 euros for a cab-ride to take you anywhere you actually want to be; had I known that it was going to be so far away from the city I would never have booked this hotel. The food at the lounge is good, but terribly over-priced, and the room service menu is a complete rip-off; you get okay food and end up having to donate a kidney just to pay for it. Unfortunately--and though it may partially be my fault--I felt a bit held hostage by this hotel and the mountain upon which it rests, which is why I actually wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you're coming to Barcelona and not planning on leaving you hotel room--or you don't mind dropping 40 to 50 euros to leave and come back--then you may have found your spot, but, otherwise, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. How many cab-drivers and locals can look at you and say, "why would you stay there?", before you start to ask yourself, "well.....well why did I stay here?"

Terrible Experience - Has gone downhill and is more like a three star hotel While the hotel's website and some reviews make this hotel seem majestic, after being trapped there for two nights (and having to leave early) I can tell you it is definitely not majestic and is far from being a five, or even a four, star hotel. The hotel is quite run-down and while the staff is very friendly, the managers seem to be trying to reduce costs as much as possible while squeezing every penny they can out of their guests. Having stayed in a number of hotels in Barcelona (such as the W and Hotel 1898), I now know that there are much better places to stay than the Gran Hotel La Crapola. Unfortunately the hotel's website and some reviews make it seem like this is an amazing hotel for a few days or even a week but my wife and I found out that after 1 night it's extremely run-down, there is absolutely nothing around the hotel except an amusement park for young children, the food at the bar is terrible, the "spa" is not really a spa (it's just two rooms where they give massages on-demand), the hot tub is luke-warm, the pool is quite cold, and the air conditioning in the room did not work (even after we were told it was 'repaired' turning it on did nothing). It seems a lot of the hotel is breaking down and in disrepair although they do try to hide it well. The staff were very nice up until we asked to leave early they said it was fully up to the hotel and that they had already told the hotel manager that, so we didn't appreciate being lied to. I do understand that they seem to be hurting for money but a place that tries hard to be five stars really shouldn't treat their guests the way we ended up being treated. We ended up leaving early as the hotel is very, very, very far away from the best parts of Barcelona and staying at this hotel was literally ruining our vacation. The gourmet restaurant was great the first night but booked all other nights and the food at the bar is the same for lunch and dinner and not very good... so after eating it for lunch and then again for dinner again (and being told there was nothing else for miles) it was time to get out of there. This hotel is great for dinner (great food as long as you eat at the main restaurant, great views) and maybe for one night stay if your car breaks down when you go there for dinner. I highly recommend, however, not staying at this hotel and if you want to see some great views go just for dinner. There are amazing four and five star hotels in Barcelona and surrounding the Gothic District that would provide a much better experience - disappointingly The Gran Hotel La Florida is not one of them. Room Tip: To choose a good room, I recommend choosing a different hotel.

We were there 2 mths ago. What a great get away from the city. Capture the best sun set and sun rise. Note: Not a lot of food choice, great bar though.

View is amazing and the hotel is clean , staff is friendly . I rate 3 stars because I was excited about the free shuttle service .. yet when I called they said they were fully booked . Meaning that I had to pay 40 euros round trip to get to the city . Something else I wasn't satisfied with was that I was starving at 2 am ( California time difference) I called for room service to order something to eat , yet they said they were all out of food for the night ! Overall this hotel has a beautiful view , downfall is that if you can't get the shuttle at the designated times they have or even at all .. then you end up spending a lot on taxis. You can get public transport which I don't necessarily recommend as the streets are very tricky out here .

OMG now this hotel is fantastic . We arrived and they gave use sparkling Voss with a touch of rose water in champagne glasses. The hotel was fantastic , when I was there may years ago John Malkovich was there also at the same time and he was such a gentle man . John Malkovich opened the door to the al fresco morning breakfast buffet one morning. They had fresh yogurt in glass jars, beautiful fruit sweet and ripe, beautiful array of ham and prosciutto. The out door seating for eatting is out of this world as you can see the sea and the city .And it does not end there . The luxuary is never ending, the first day we arrived there was chocolate covered stawberries and champagne. Then when ever we needed to go anywhere there was a mecedes and driver to take us down town to shop and eat. Ohh yes the have a L'Orangerie restaurant in the hotel wow what a dinner. It is so lux as they even have a beautiful spa with fancy showers as well. This place is way over the top and I can not wait to return to bliss!!!
