Decent meal. Service was superb. Loaded nachos were just fair. I would skip them. Salmon was grilled correctly. Rice and green beans were good. Hamburger was huge and lots of flavor. Tossed salad was okay but very small. Mac & cheese was good along with garlic bread accompanying it. Good root beer. Relaxing atmosphere. Prices were reasonable.

Google
Charles was a wonderful server & made us feel very welcomed. We sat on the cute patio as we had our pup with us. The food was delicious. Burgers, fries & onion rings. They have a great beer & alcohol selection. Many non-alcoholic drinks as well.

Emily Adams

Google
What a unique spot! We enjoyed our dinner and staff were very friendly. The interior feels kind of like a speakeasy and they have a nice back patio as well. It's attached to a bed and breakfast. I got the salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans and all were well seasoned and tasted great. Also got a piña colada which was yummy!

Wade Hults

Google
Cozy bar and grill. Friendly staff. Second visit... still cozy and friendly. Steak done perfectly. Generous helping of green beans as a side option. Excellent front-of-house service. Meal was prepared well and quickly. I only noticed one hiccup in front of house where an order was misdirected. Staff caught the error before food was placed and ended up at the correct table without further issue. Recommendation: allow runner to deliver food to bar area, or have a runner eligible to enter bar area available.

When you walk inside a restaurant and you immediately feel welcome...that's starting off on the right foot! The draft beer and food selection was terrific and the atmosphere is top notch! We had a great dining experience here and thankfully we were able to watch Arkansas Baseball in College World's Series and boy, we will return very soon!

Google
Burgers are very good. FYI they are the thin burgers. They are full of toppings and the bread was good. The red potato fries are fried thin sliced potatoes. Good and crunchy. The onion rings... TOP NOTCH. The wife ordered an Edison vodka and it was very tasty but sweet for my taste. The building in located in an old silo and you can see how the made it work into a bar/restaurant... Simply awesome, a must see.

Google
Cool place! Food and drinks were good 👍 prices a little higher than expected. A little understaffed but staff was super pleasant.

Google
About the only place open to eat dinner on a Sunday in Monticello, but a pleasant surprise. Awesome atmosphere, great food and a super nice staff! We love it so much, we are there the next night too! This place is too nice for the city it's in, but I'm glad it was there.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place in Monticello on the way to the parks. What a great find, the food was super tasty and the service was very friendly. We sat inside but they have a nice outdoor area that would be nice to see the sunset.

Rod S.

Yelp
I did not expect much when spending the night in Monticello. What a great find. It's not fine dining, but it's everything they promise, and more. The cocktails are good. It's a very nice bar. The food is basic, and goes from fried chicken tenders to steaks. It's cooked with care, and it was all good. Our server was very good, and the owners nice. There's not much in wine, but there was some terrific local beer that matched well with the food. This is all about excellent cocktails, and beer, with good pub grub, in a historic building in the middle of a beautiful nowhere. Do not miss it.

Yelp
Im sure at one time this place was a happening grandeur place. The 3 stars is for one thing only and that was our amazing superstar server Charles, who tried to salvage our meal. We ordered the Ruben with red fries and chicken strips. The Ruben bread was toasty but so sloppy, drenched with an overload of thousand island dressing and slimy lettuce, we were so excited about the red fries, but so disappointed once we tasted them. Red? Why? I don't get it, they are round potatoes cut thin, ours were cool to taste and limp. The oil taste was old and strong tasting like stale grease, Charles brought us a fresh hot basket which was slightly better hot and somewhat crispy but that grease taste was there. The side of chicken strips was panko breaded which I like, with a side of ranch, but that fryer grease permeated those too! We tried to eat it but just couldn't and we left so displeased with meal. It took a long time to get our food which is understandable, they were short staffed. Change your fryer oil, cut back on the thousand island dressing, and slice those potatoes thinner and you'll have fresh house potato chips, there was nothing red about those fries. Shout again to Charles he was working hard.

Yelp
Fun find in this little town. Ate at the bar twice and enjoyed the food and the chat with some locals and other guests.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Food was excellent, I had the taco salad, the salsa was delicious! My husband had the bacon bbq burger and red potatoes and they were so good I made him share and switch meals with me!! The drinks were also really good! We got the fried gouda too and it was yummy but they were giant logs!

Joseph T.

Yelp
Good spot for dinner and drinks as there is not much outside of Moab that's decent. Charles was our server and was great with everything.

Didge C.

Yelp
When you walk into a place and before you even get to the bar you are greeted and made to feel at home.......it's a good start! When you are offered good selection of local beers, and a menu that just looked good enough to drool over.....it's getting better.... When the food arrives and you look at it and go WOW!.......it's perfect! This place is amazing! Make a detour and try it out. We loved it, food was reasonable, and very good, beer was great, service was amazing........

Yelp
We stood in the entrance hall listening to live music and waiting for someone to acknowledge us for 30 minutes. Then a harried but friendly individual asked if we could sit at the bar. Since my 16 year old was with us, a firm no! Finally another server came into the hall and asked if anyone was helping us. She led us to a table and took our order. And then we waited. And waited. When we finally got our food, my son's pasta was cold. My husband's (overpriced) steak was over-cooked. My chicken fingers were excellent, though. This place is dirty, understaffed, and the food sub-par. What staff they do have are friendly and trying their best.

Jim S.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant with great food and great service. Stayed next door at the Grist Mill Inn and it was quaint and quiet. We had a great time at both!

Amanda J.

Yelp
Great place to dine. Lovely and friendly staff. Very clean bathrooms. Service was quick and great! Food was good and large amount for such a great price!

Dave B.

Yelp
Pleasant discovery in small town of monticello ut. Vegetarian means menu items. No meat. Chowder was great and came with chicken. Caesar was good though next time I'd order dressing on side. Loved red potatoes. Took remainder home and baked them for dinner. Great. Both times. No outdoor seating. Kinda confusing as dining room for dinner has separate entrance. Different hours. Server was very pleasant.

Donnis R.

Yelp
We just had drinks in the bar but the staff was super friendly and I love the atmosphere. The bar is in one old silo and the restaurant in the other silo. It is attached with a bed and breakfast. I may stay there next time in Monticello.

Tracy H.

Yelp
Highly recommended by our hotel. Big disappointment. Staek overcooked, tough, all food cold. No silverware, napkins, extra plate (splitting plate). Waitress extremely untrained. No one asked how our food or service was. BTW, we were the only diners on 4-13-23 at 5 pm. Ugh!!!

Lorin C.

Yelp
While staying at the B & B next door we went to this restaurant on a Valentine's Day and our anniversary and the lil woman's Bday! The lil woman had their Salmon it was excellent! I had the prime rib special! Very good! Their waitresses are dressed in a 20's style outfits and a very friendly! We give it 5 stars!

Neil T.

Yelp
Worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. Everything was over-salted. Meat was poor quality and overcooked. Service was just bizarre. Bar choices were limited and disappointing. Do yourselves a favor and eat at the Mexican restaurant nearby. Or anywhere else.

Aubrey C.

Yelp
Not great :/ The food is really pricey and would have still been disappointing it we'd paid half as much. They said they ran out of cups so we didn't get waters for a long time. (A table sitting next to us didn't get water until they had finished their meal.) The nachos were especially bad, They had a cheese sauce (like the kind that comes out of a bottle) and then some sprinkles of actual shredded cheese on top of the cheese sauce that hadn't been melted all the way and the rest of the toppings were so sparse, they just looked so sad and yucky. The "refillable homemade root beer" was a can of A&W...maybe that's just COVID?

Amy S.

Yelp
This is a place worthing stopping for! We stop in here for a bite just about every time we come through town. We have not been disappointed yet in anything we've ordered. Usually its a burger or sandwich but their menu has grown, tonight we had grilled chicken and Fettuccine Alfredo. Both were excellent dishes! They also have fun cocktails if your in the mood for a refreshing beverage. It may take a bit longer than normal for service when they are busy, buts it's worth the wait and the staff are great.

Celeste H.

Yelp
Really Good food and beer. There was live music, wonderful ambiance, and our waiter was a delight. Highly recommend

Darrell M.

Yelp
Charles was our server and just an all around great guy that cares about his customers. Made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We went two of the three nights we stayed in Monticello and we're not disappointed. Food was excellent as well as the service. Nick the bartender was excellent delivering us cold beers and great sports chatting! See you back in March 2023!!

David H.

Yelp
Food price / quality rating 9. The atmosphere is rustic old genuine grain mill turned into a restaurant. It appears that this place is possibly the only real restaurant in Monticello. Full bar serving liquor as well as beer and wine (hard to find in small towns in Utah). If you appreciate home made pasta, this is the place. I had the Shrimp Scampi, the wife had the Shrimp Scampi appetizer. Both were excellent. A decent selection of draught beers, including several local breweries. A well rounded dessert list is offered as well. Service was excellent as well . If you are visiting Monticello and looking for food, this is the place to go!

Richard G.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant with amazing food and great service. Had the blue cheese bacon burger and they even cooked it medium rare. Delicious red potatoe fries. Loved the boneless wings with sweet and spicy sauce. Cool interior and exterior.

Sherry G.

Yelp
We arrived at the adjacent Airbnb after 8pm and were so happy to find that this is open later. My husband's very rare steak was cooked to perfection and my Alfredo and garlic bread was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our meals on the patio with a very friendly staff.

Jamie S.

Yelp
To be the only restaurant in Monticello, they were super busy, overwhelmed but smiles never left their faces! We had great food, drinks and we enjoyed our time here. At times, service was a little slow but they're short staffed and again, only sit down restaurant open in the area so for those circumstances, you should expect it or go to Subway. The burgers and onion rings were phenomenal. Perfect place to get food after a long day of hiking.

Joe V.

Yelp
Food was good but not exceptional. Service was slow. Music played in dining area was depressing.

Diann F.

Yelp
Our group of five enjoyed our time at the Granary. They were very busy and the food was delicious. The host was interesting and started our visit off with lively conversation. The restaurant is a bit dark but has fun decor.

Brenda F.

Yelp
The food here was really good. My kids especially liked it. Charles (not Larry) did an excellent job taking care of us, though the wait for our food was rather long. That was due to not enough staff, but was easily forgiven. The restaurant and B&B were interesting to wander through. It really did have a SpeakEasy feeling.

Maria B.

Yelp
We received slow service and cold food and there weren't many customers at the time. However, after a couple of incidents, we realized it was OVERT RACISM. After dinner my husband and I and two other customers moved to the room where they had karaoke. The two women ordered and received their drinks. My husband and I were not asked if we wanted a drink so my husband went to the bar and waited several minutes while a server, customer and bartender in a conversation ignored him. He had to interrupt their conversation with, "Excuse me, may I order a beer?" There was no apology for making him wait. Then later we saw 2 hispanic couples go to the bar area and within 5-10 minutes left the bar. They were ignored and not served. OVERT RACISM again. RACISM is the refuge for the IGNORANTS.

Glenn S.

Yelp
I received the worst service I have ever had in my life. An hour to get my food. The wait person never once came to check on me, ask me how the food was or anything. I was the last person to leave though several people came in after me. HORRiBLE SERVICE. The food was good but my experience was horrible.

Francoise S.

Yelp
1. I did not appreciate the fact that I got charged 15% for take-out without being informed first. Granted it was my fault for not looking at the check before signing and it's still COVID, but not telling me beforehand and not written anywhere on the menu is incredibly shady. Be better next time and be honest. 2. So you charged me for take-outs, but you didn't provide any utensils! Did I just pay $5 more to not have any spoon or fork?!?! After a long day hiking, I was looking forward to this meal, and I had to eat my chicken, soup, and salad without any utensils. The grilled chicken was beyond dry, sad-looking, and had only about 5 tiny pieces. With soup and salad for $18. Overpriced and mediocre.

Cathy G.

Yelp
Passing through from Moab to Mesa Verde National Park. Didn't see many options for dining on a Monday night. So glad we found this hidden gem. Attached to the Grist Mill bed and breakfast. Please try the Fried Pickles appetizer! Best we ever had! Grilled chicken strip dinner with masked potatoes was so good! Also tried the chicken Alfredo which was also very good!

Brent W.

Yelp
Excellent food. Excellent service. The ambiance was amazing. Such wide variety of options. As a tourist, highly impressed

Roswitha M.

Yelp
This place has amazing cocktails and tasty food. The patio is catered for large groups and staff are super friendly!

Thomas C.

Yelp
After a day hiking in Canyonlands, and based upon the reviews of Granary, we were hoping the day would end with a good dinner. I hate to rate this restaurant so low but can't help myself. This is the only restaurant in town so it may not bother them. We waited an hour for the food; the waitress was kind enough to offer us salad. Appetizer (chicken wings) came after our dinner, by the time it arrived it was dry and cold. My tiny salmon was served over cooked and dry. My wife's pasta was made wrong twice. When it finally came it tasted like lemon and the pastas stuck together in a pile. Servers were all busy and helpful which was the positive for the night.

Kris H.

Yelp
Not sure there is space to list all that went wrong with the service at this place. Let me say first, the food was great. We ate here a second night because the food was so good the first night. Service the first night was ok, but NOT good. The second night our server could not figure out, for a second time, how to order a virgin Moscow Mule (basically ginger beer and lime). My friend is a recovering alcoholic and he served her a regular Moscow Mule. She ordered a side of sweet potato fries that she never got. She asked for more napkins and someone brought her one. She asked the server for 2 more little tubs of ketchup and she got one, 1/3 full. Our food was brought out by someone other than our server and sat on a side table (in the adjacent room) for over 5 min before they brought it to us. Therefore, my mashed potatoes were cold and stiff. I hate to have to post this because there aren't that many choices to eat in Monticello and the food was so good. But someone needs to train the wait staff or someone needs fired.

Karen D.

Yelp
Good restaurants are hard to come by in this area, but the Granary didn't disappoint. We had dinner fairly early (6:00 pm) on a Sunday, so that may have made a difference. No wait for a table, no wait for our food. My salmon was excellent, picky hubby had nothing to criticize about his shrimp scampi. Service was great and the ambiance was comfortable. We live less than a half hour away (which is close by local standards), and we will happily go here again. Everyone is struggling with help and supply chain issues. The Granary may be a bit hit or miss, but they hit it right this time.

Patti C.

Yelp
We were staying at the Grist Mill Inn and came for drinks and dinner. Ben, the bartender and owner, was very nice which added to the friendly atmosphere with all the customers. Seated in a round silo room created a closeness that was enjoyable. Ben made the special Gunsmoke cocktail which was yummy and looked like a science experiment! Steak, mashed potatoes and salad were good. We had a great evening.

K D.

Yelp
The Servers were great but the kitchen was very slow and the food was mediocre at best. Not much else in town to choose from so good luck.

Darla R.

Yelp
We were greatly disappointed in the super slow customer service. The waitress was often not seen for long periods of time. It took a very long time for our food to come and we were disappointed in our meals. Even though we were looking for a local bar to celebrate the new year while we were visiting the area, we decided not to go there again.

Brandi J.

Yelp
Pit stop in cruddy weather back to Colorado. So very worth it!!! Amazing tender hand cut steak! Great service and the place itself already has telling friends to make the stop from CO to AZ!!!! Will be back again very soon!

Clara R.

Yelp
The food is great but they've gotta figure out their phone situation. I got A rlly good Burger the first time and they took the call as they should have. They did forget a part if our order but no big deal. The next day, we tried to order from them again. We called 3 times during their hours and they would not pick up. I would definitely recommend it if you don't have to order over the phone.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Stopped in passing through town. Big mistake. I was told we could not have grape juice for my 3 year old because it was for the guests, so I asked for apple juice that we never received. The soup came out lukewarm, and mine tasted like soap. Hubby said his was fine. My 'wedge salad' was romaine leaves, a few diced tomatoes and onions, crumbles of burnt bacon and ranch dressing. There was SO much pepper on my kids' potatoes they could not eat them. When I asked for a refill of tea I was brought an entire carafe so I could refill it myself and the waitress could disappear like she had the entire time we were there. To top this entire, awful experience off I was nauseous and sick to my stomach the entire remainder of the day. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

Wade N.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was friendly. Menu was not very extensive but had some interesting things. Restaurant is in the old silos of the gristmill and is interesting and different. We would definitely return.

Jeff D.

Yelp
The only place in Monticello Utah worth eating waitresses are nice and pretty! Food is excellent service is right on the spot I come to Monticello four times a year and this is the only place I will eat!!!! Shout out to!! Rosalind and Amy !!!

C M.

Yelp
This quaint place has a lot of history and ambiance. The barkeeper Nick was very welcoming and gave us a tour of the restaurant and where the B&B is located. Our server Charles was more than attentive. We need more Charles' in this world. We will definitely come back!

Cullen J.

Yelp
Really good food. Probably the best in town but what ruined it for me was they allowed the table next to me to smoke cigarettes. Four people at the table next to me started smoking cigarettes While I was in the middle of my meal. Our table and the table next to us got up and left. The manager came out and spoke with them on a friendly basis but didn't say anything to them about smoking. Totally gross in 2020.

Jess B.

Yelp
Chose the Granary based on full bar & modern menu (& the high recommendation from our hotel clerk). We were SO happy with our choice! Only open for 2 weeks, these folks have opened a great little eating/drinking place, very clean, dog-friendly patio, space for live music, and a bar w/ TV for sporting events. The Granary staff were super friendly and welcoming too - but the food was WAY beyond stop-a-sec eats on the road. DH had a burger w mashed potatoes (homemade!) and I had chicken fingers. Silly, I know but DAMN, they were craveable! Light panko (?) crust, maybe over buttermilk? Whatever - they were perfect. We were too full for desert but bet it's equally delicious. The Granary is enough of a pull to influence us to stay in this little town again!

Jarynn Q.

Yelp
My other half and I received stayed for one night Monticello on our road trip across the U.S. We stayed at the Horsehead Inn nearby. We loved the comfortable environment. We enjoyed the industrial, farmhouse aesthetic, decorated with old news articles, and the easy-listening jazz music, like Billie Holiday. The staff was very welcoming. The food was great. Wish we could go back!

John B.

Yelp
I ate dinner here while staying at the Grist Mill In B&B (separate review posted for that). People staying at the B&B, and people staying at nearby hotels, and locals were all eating here. It's a nicely restored mill that houses both the B&B and this restaurant. No windows and you're inside old grain tanks but it works. Well decorated. Good drinks, good selection of Utah beers, somewhat broad menu with good food that's likely the best in Monticello. The red potato wedge fries were excellent. It wasn't until late in the meal that we found out that Ben the bartender was also the owner. Attentive, easy-going, conversational service from Ben and others working that night. Good, small town atmosphere. I would definitely recommend eating or having a drink here, whether or not you stay at the Grist Mill B&B. I'd return.

Shane B.

Yelp
Food was great and the service was just as good. Open many hours and the menu varies occasionally. Give it a shot.
