The location, lobby, and customer service at this hotel were great, but the rooms were a bit disappointing. My husband and I stayed here for one night, and opted for this newer hotel over other similarly priced options because it felt more stylish and modern. While the decor was beautiful, the quality of the rooms themselves was disappointing. Our first room smelled horribly musty and had a leak from the air conditioner upstairs, which caused the paint to be coming off the ceiling and walls. After calling the front desk, they were able to move us to another room. This was in much better condition, but still had a bit of a musty smell. After a family arrived in a nearby room, we realized the walls were incredibly thin — we could make out most of their conversations and hear their TV. The rooms were also quite narrow. This was fine for us, but might be an issue for folks with more than two people or who enjoy more space. I was also disappointed that they were not able to accommodate check-in before 4 PM or a late check-out. There were some pros: the attendant at the valet station and the women at the front were very helpful and nice. The rooftop bar had wonderful views and we enjoyed our drinks. And the decor of the lobby area was very nicely done. If the quality of the rooms were better, this would be a spot we would have returned for future Lake Placid visits.

Rooms were nice but it's a older building and the rooms were narrow and I personally felt a little claustrophobic. Had a lake view which was awesome and the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Great location in middle of town so you can walk to many shops and restaurants.

Stayed for one night in a King room which was supposed to have a street/lake view. This was partially true from one window, the other had us looking at a parking lot and dumpsters. The rooms are ok but felt a bit sterile to me as opposed to warm/welcoming. Everything appeared clean. The comfort of the bed was fair, but it creaked terribly with every little movement. The walls and ceilings do not promote any noise reduction as you can hear everything from conversations to footsteps. The elevators are EXTREMELY slow. The location of course is amazing. The staff were friendly enough although we had limited interaction. A bit disappointing overall.

Located right in the heart of downtown, the location is the best part about this hotel. Aside from that the hotel lacks in some critical areas. For starters, if you would like to take a hot shower in the morning or evening…think again. During high volume showering hours all of the hot water is used and you must wait for the hot water to be replenished to be able to take a hot shower—be warned this will likely be a while. Unfortunately showers are not the only thing you’ll find not working in your room— you can expect at least a few of your light switches not to turn on and an old un-sturdy bed frame that squeaks. Secondly, the walls of the hotel are paper thin so you will hear your neighbors regardless of if they are having a casual conversation or have screaming crying children. To make matters worse, if you alert the hotel staff to any of these issues they will be deflective and offer no useful advice aside from instructing you to wait it out.

We booked a suite for about a week at the end of September. We've stayed in Lake Placid several times and wanted to try a new place. We checked into the suite and found it plain and poorly lit, so much so that we checked out immediately and went someplace else for the week. ||The hotel's front faces a view of the main street as well as the lake. A hotel rep told us that the suites, though, are all placed at the back of the hotel; their view is of the parking lot and dumpsters. The doors to the suites are also directly across a hallway from the elevators. The hallways feel a little like the hotel in the Shining. I know the hotel was built in the 1920s, but whoever did the recent redesign could have considered layout and design a little more carefully so things don't feel so cold and cramped.||The common spaces, however, look nice. So does the restaurant/bar. The staff we encountered were all truly friendly and definitely helpful. If you get a more basic room with a lake view you might be happier than we were with a suite, which we'd avoid. No reason to pay to stay in a large, sparse set of rooms across from the elevator doors with a view of the dumpsters.

Well located and walkable to anywhere in the village including to the Peninsula Nature trails. |The hotel has a northwoods charm and somehow the perfect piney scent when you walk through the doors without being overpowering. |The rooms are narrow, but well laid out and the separate space with the tv and couch was a nice addition. There is plenty of room for two large suitcase on the area by the window.|Bathroom had plenty of storage options and the shower had good temperature and water pressure. |I appreciated the dimmer switches on almost all the lights. So much nicer than having to open your eyes to stark bright lights.|We had breakfast daily at Marcy's and the food was good as was the staff who remembered us daily.|We visited the Cloudsplitter roof top bar twice and the snack options were good and the views even better.|Parking was easy with the valet and rarely slow. |Lastly, the elevators are small and slow. Be prepared to wait and/or take the stairs

Google
Beautiful hotel with an even better view of mirror lake. Great location. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy and the room was cozy and homey. The only negative thing which could be a problem if it was busier was the single elevator. We spent a lot of time waiting for it but the pros outweigh that con!

Google
Pros - 1. Location is excellent. Open the door and you are bang on the main street where all bars, restaurants, local shops are 2. Hotel has been refurbished. The bathroom in our room looked very nicely done 3. Staff was friendly and helpful Cons - 1. Lot of noise from the street below. I'd really wish the hotel had soundproof windows especially for those rooms facing main street 2. Our bedroom ceiling was creaking whenever guests staying above us walked in their room 3. Service especially at the front desk was very ordinary Final verdict - I won't recommend this place unless you want to be close to main street. Probably would rate this place a generous 2 out of 5.

Yelp
The positives: Excellent staff and design elements in common areas. Location is at the center of Lake Placid. The negatives: old building means very slow elevators, took stairs most of time, thin ceilings/floors, never got hot water, ancient beds, narrow rooms, and when it rained there was a hellacious noise from the water hitting the HVAC unit.

Yelp
Our visit to this hotel was happenstance. We were driving around and decided to stop with no reservation. Interestingly the rate was a few dollars cheaper through my Bonvoy app than at the front desk. The receptionist was patient while I booked online from the lobby. We met Matt Greiner, an up and coming Olympic luge athlete. What a polite, energetic person to have as your valet! The rooms were nicely appointed; split into a bedroom and a sitting lounge. Very convenient and nicely laid out. The room was clean and bathroom spotless. The rooftop bar had a beautiful view but a lack of personality or helpfulness from the servers so we went next door to Zigzag. The downstairs bar was closed and the restaurant was dead so we ordered a pizza while sitting at Zigzag. All in all, great hotel room experience but the restaurant/bar workers lacked good hospitality practices.

Yelp
Really nice new hotel right in the middle of Lake Placid. Elevator situation is odd and it's valet parking, but not as expensive as other hotels with valet. My room was spotless and quite spacious. Not much closet space but I'll take clean anytime. Loved the hand soap. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The design is rustic and cozy. It has two attached restaurants and is in the middle of Main Street so you have lots of other options. There is a 24 hr laundromat right across the street. I was exhausted from just getting off the Northville Placid Trail and they were very accommodating when I requested an early check-in. My only complaint is noise. I was on the 4th floor with a window directly above Main Street. Street noise was kinda loud at night but the biggest issue was you could clearly hear people stomping around in the room above me. It woke me a few times. Also, the coffee machine in the room looked dirty and rusty in the water receptacle so I was hesitant to use. Overall though so was very happy with it and would return.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Decorated in mountain cabin theme. Very cozy! Staff has been accommodating and friendly. Roof top bar is a fun place with a great menu of beverages and a few noshes to order. There's a restaurant downstairs- Marcy's, named for a mountain peak close by.

Yelp
Hotel location was great. Walk outside and you are on the main drag. This made popping back to take care of our toddler a breeze! Staff was pleasant and room was clean. Elevator was so tight you could just fit a luggage cart inside. Walls are super thin, could hear conversations clear and every footstep the people above us took. Parking is valet ($20/day) unless you want your car in a municipal lot down the road however never had any issues getting our car from valet very quickly!

Yelp
Not very grand! Attended wedding in lake placid stayed at property for 2 days. Long term Marriott rewards member. At 2:30 pm room not cleaned, one robe for 2 people. Wanted to have drink in bar after wedding arrived at 10:59 told closed at 11 so no service. No manager on duty. Poor excuse for Marriott property courtyard level at best. Very dissatisfied.

Yelp
Zero access to park a car and check in -- at night you'll drive in a few circles before you figure out where to park. Registration is one floor up from street level and there is one functional elevator in the building that's approx 2'x2'. After three successive elevators ended up carrying bags up to the 4th floor. On the plus side the shower pressure was terrific but for $450 a night, the room overlooks parking lot and dumpsters. Of all the places to stay, I'm sorry I picked this hotel and will be back some other fall for another try to see Mirror Lake fall colors.

Yelp
Excellent food, unique menu options, creative cocktails the smoked vanilla creme brulee and double chocolate pudding are all made from scratch along with all of the dressings and menu items

Yelp
Food was terrible. 1 out of 4 considered their meal to be "ok" the rest didn't care for theirs.

Jon H.

Yelp
Neat place bar downstairs is cool, the staff is working hard and is friendly. If I ever get back up to lake placid and need a cocktail I'll stop through.

Yelp
This hotel was recently updated and the results are beautiful...on the surface. We stayed here this week and were disappointed in the quality of the rooms and the service. The room was extremely small and uncomfortable to sit in. The room safe was locked when we got there and we needed to ask for help to open it. It appeared that there was no maid service but they got around to it while we were out for dinner., The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the rooms were HOT. You can try to set the air lower, but it just comes on every half hour or so, probably their effort to save energy. If you take a shower, GO FAST because the hot water cuts out after about 5 minutes, another effort to be an environmental champion perhaps? We were looking forward to trying their restaurant but were told it would be closed for breakfast all week. We tried to check it out for dinner, but there was nobody there, so we went to the Marcy Bar for dinner instead...WHAT A MISTAKE. Waited 45 minutes to have our order taken, then another 45 minutes to get our food. It was just fish and chips! The fish was undercooked. The fries were good...so I guess I would recommend going there if you were looking for good fries and willing to waiting 90 minutes to get them. They tout a rooftop bar which we were looking forward to, but a sign said that due to circumstances beyond their control, the rooftop would be closed for 2 out the 3 days that we were there. I will credit the bartenders who worked very hard and made some fantastic cocktails, and when we did get to the rooftop, we were impressed by the beautiful panoramic view of the Adirondack mountains. Good to know...You can visit the rooftop without having to be a guest of the hotel. Maybe someday the management staff will figure out how to properly run a business like this. The physical limitations of this grand old building could be overlooked if they did.

Yelp
Dinner was great. The short rib appetizer was so good. Andrew was out server and was very attentive and provided great service. Nicely decorated and comfortable atmosphere.
