I stayed here 2 nights. This is definitely the best hotel in Dutch but do not expect too much. I did not thanks to other reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very close to the airport, you can easily walk there if you want. It is perhaps 10 mins walk. The building is easily recognizable and in the area around it are biggest shopping outlets as Safeway and Three Bears as well as Norwegian rat bar. Old hotel which provides basic accomodation. Check in was very quick, for 15 usd you can get 24 hrs wifi password. There are stairs or an old lift. The room was old but warm and that is all I needed. Of course it can be much better but I was happy with it. It resembled me student time in Eastern europe and dormitories. I had a good night sleep though. Hotel has a bar which serves bar meals and also another bar which belongs to the hotel in nearby Dutch shopping centre. Beer, burgers and great atmosphere. Hotel serves breakfast and coffee in the morning and has a small selection of souvenirs and books. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

11-08-25 ADD UP YOUR BILL AND COUNT YOUR CHANGE I had breakfast and lunch, Both meals were over charged,. The price on the menu was up to 25% less than the actual price that the waitress and the alleged manager rang up. Grand Aleution, do you have an integrity problem? Or is it just slop management?

I have been staying at the Grand Aleutian Hotel since June 27th 2025 and it is now jul 18th. I am here for work and I finally received my plane ticket home for July 27th so I have a 30 ish day opinion as to why I give this place a 1 star review. To be honest I am quite irritated and trying to calm myself before writing this review but unfortunately time won't help my opinion. Going on 3 days straight of terrible sleep. If you are thinking of staying here I hope my shared experience will help you in your decision. I will start with the fact that I am working a night shift 1800 to 0600 / 6 p.m to 6 a.m. and 7 days a week. I know that it can't be helped and is what it is but I think it needs to be pointed out that the walls are very thin and you can hear absolutely everything. Including the guy two doors down grunting when he sits on the toilet. I usually have the TV going to drown out some of the noises but half the time the TV doesn't work. The major problem is the doors! You have to close the doors slowly so that they won't slam shut which absolutely nobody does not even house keeping. So while trying to sleep during the day when every single door that opens slams shut it quite literally shakes the entire hallway and it happens over and over and over again 🙄. Do to being on the evening shift i have to schedule a time to get my room serviced. I get to the hotel after work around 6:30 a.m sometimes closer to 7 and it takes a minute to wind down and get to sleep around 8:30 after getting my boots off and showered. I then have to wake up in the middle of my sleep to get my room serviced. Try to let it go a few days and keep the do not disturb sign on the door handle otherwise you will get a knock on the door close to 10a.m. sometimes you will get the unfortunate wake up even with the sign on the door if the constant slamming doors don't wake you first. I'd say this place is a 12 hr stay at best during normal hours. Now do to the nature of my job i have to stay in hotels frequently and even the less desirable places offer complimentary Wi-Fi. You would think at the nightly cost of a room here that Wi-Fi would be included. It sure would help to just play a movie on my damn phone when the TV decides to stop working to drown out some of the noises. I think i might bunch up a hoodie tonight for a pillow instead of using the provided bricks. On a positive note the front desk personel is friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The offered laundry service is great. From what I heard the seafood buffet is great aswell unfortunately not happening on my schedule. I have attached a picture of the single most useful investment this place can make. I hope this either helps the establishment make a few changes or for visiting guests to know what to expect or hopefully you reading this has a better experience than I have. Lacking sleep so please forgive my irritability and frustrations!

This hotel has really good food and great staff who are helpful, accommodating, and kind. The seafood buffet on Wednesdays is exceptional. Genesis was very helpful at the front desk with recommendations, and went above and beyond to make sure an item I left at the hotel was returned to me at the airport. I look forward to returning to the Grand Aleutian.

The burgers are top-notch! WiFi is 15 a day iirc so that kinda sucks but they gotta capitalise, I suppose. 2 big markets to either side and the rooms are comfortable with a great view.

Really great to see improvements to the rooms/windows in this hotel. Have not had a bad experience. The Grand gets incredibly busy, especially when there are flight delays. They provide a safe, warm, and clean room. Good meals at their local restaurant. I have always been treated fairly and with respect here. Treat staff with respect, and it will be returned in kind.

Took almost 3 weeks to book a hotel room calling and emailing frequently as I believe they had a new booking system. Complimentary shuttle from hotel was helpful. Thankfully I had a room and there were multiple people they had to turn away for not having rooms. Rooms were decent but it seemed most others in our group couldn’t get into their room until after 8pm but may have been a busier week than usual.

We stayed three nights June 2022. Facility lighting and decor (walls, carpet, bedding) is dated. Room was clean, but one of the bed comforters had cigarette holes. Toilet is super low and short. Extra roll of toilet paper was not supplied, had to ask. Fresh towels were provided just one night. But certainly adequate and in a beautiful location.

Yelp
Some of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in in a hotel. Friendly staff. A little outdated but a nice place to stay if you are in Dutch Harbor!

Yelp
Decent hotel, clean, and good location. The wiifii is not great so this can be difficult when traveling for business, but that is on the entire island. The lobby is really pretty and relaxing! Liked sitting in front of the fireplace and reading. Cute gift shop.

Yelp
Rooms are okay tv's are from the 80's. The tv quality was not good at all, "snowy" screen. But ooh-well. Staff is friendly when they're not cruising the internet. The room is okay in size, the bathroom was big which was nice. They have a "Seafood Buffet" every Wednesday night which is great if you like seafood, they had crab legs, shrimp, halibut, tuna, etc. I think everything inluding tip was around 50 bucks. You have to pay for the wireless internet as of 5/16/2012.

Yelp
It's the only hotel in Unalaska here. It's not a Hyatt or Marriot but it's decent. Rooms are clean and price is OK. The hotel has a bar and 2 restaurants. Ice machine on every floor. The lobby is cozy. The front desk people are great. Bill is my go to guy for any questions and advice in Unalaska. I deduct 1 star because there seems to always be a problem with plumbing. Bath tub gets clogged way too often. Some of the housekeeper look a bit sketchy. Some of the guys wear beanies and baggy clothing which seems very unprofessional.

Yelp
It is worth the effort to plan your refueling and supply port call on Weds for the Seafood Buffet! You can't miss the place. It's the ONLY large upscale (as upscale as you can get in Alaska) in Dutch Harbor. You will probably never find a place like it. For one price, you can go to town on an all you can sea food buffet with King Crab legs, halibut and salmon. I don't know how they get fresh vegetables out there, but it's probably the only place you'll find a good salad and the fixn's that go with it. There isn't too much else to do on the island. So you might as well indulge yourself in some king crab. A well deserved treat after a stint in the Bering!

Yelp
Seafood buffet-----one word: incredible. As in, you will dream about it for the rest of your life once you no longer have regular access to it. Hotel------meh. Rooms getting to be a little tired and worn. But hey--it's Dutch, ya know?!

Yelp
This is the nicest hotel in Dutch Harbor. A solid 3 star. It was still a little out dated when I stayed there last year. The rooms were spacious and I have a nice view. the food was excellent and the seafood buffet with crab legs was delicious. The hotel is near Carrs grocery store.

Yelp
Had the Sunday brunch buffet last Sunday. Food was remarkable. Service sucked. No one came to refill my coffee and since it was buffet style I did not tip. Checked my account the next day and someone had tipped themselves without my permission. Should be fired for stealing.
