How to Explore the Grand Canyon's Least-visited Area

"Expert-led day hikes and backpacking trips take you below the rim with a range that spans from the beginner-friendly, six-hour "Meet the Canyon" outing to a 10-day "Hermit to South Bass Backpacking" traverse. Winter and spring are some of the best times to go thanks to cooler temperatures and minimal crowds, and the guides—many of whom have lived, worked, and studied at Grand Canyon—are not only full of fascinating facts but also help visitors connect with the landscape and understand the canyon’s cultural and natural significance, fostering a deeper appreciation of this iconic place. Their mission is to get more people to venture below the rim, and bigger below-the-rim excursions this winter and spring even include Phantom Ranch and Horseshoe Mesa-focused trips." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Best decision ever. We enjoyed the guided hike down the South Kaibab trail to Ooh Aah Point. Sherri, our guide, went at a pace appropriate for our party. We drove to other lookouts, spent time in the Hopi House, and had a beautiful lunch at the El Tovar Hotel. We ended our day with a private tour of the Kolb Studio. We were treated to a geology lesson and Sherri sprinkled interesting history and stories of the area throughout our day.

Bad Experience with the accounting department at Grand Canyon Conservancy. Becky R. Was very rude and wouldn't admit her mistake. Even after being found she was in error.

The eighteen day raft trip I took in 2015 was absolutely the best!
