A small mostly modern cemetery. Not very well kept, but beautiful just the same. A really quick walk from the "Trail of Time" that meets the South Rim Trail. A wonderful monument in remembrance of the plane crash in 1956. It's a small quiet walk around the cemetery. There are no paved paths that I could see and no worn paths as well. So please walk respectfully and watch your step. Cemetery did not appear well maintained, but a beautiful place just the same🙏

This is more than a tourist attraction, this is my sister’s last resting place. If you choose to go here please do so with that in mind. It is more than history. There are some of us alive still whose loved ones rest there.

Very cool place to see the history behind some of the people who have lived and worked at the Grand Canyon.

Yelp
Have you been to the Grand Canyon a number of times and looking for something new to do? If so, you really should check out the Grand Canyon Pioneer Cemetery. This cemetery is beautiful, peaceful and definitely worth checking out to pay your respects to the park rangers, pioneers, and war veterans. The cemetery is located next to the Shrine of the Ages where there are many ranger programs and there are also picnic tables in the area. A perfect spot for a quiet lunch, away from most of the crowds. Check out my photos and this podcast for more information: http://www.nps.gov/grca/photosmultimedia/inside-look-13.htm

Yelp
This is a lovely, peaceful place. I like to sit on the bench by the gate and enjoy the sunlight through the fragrant pines, the sound of the breeze and the call of the birds. I also like to meander through the cemetery and read the markers, many of which provide a glimpse into that person's life. The cemetery is located just west of the Shrine of the Ages building, which is one of the shuttle stops. I make it a point to spend some time here whenever I visit the Grand Canyon.

Yelp
I have been to the Grand Canyon Village over 10 times and never knew that a pioneer cemetery is located next to "Shrine of the Ages" building, at the corner of South Entrance Road and Zuni Way. I walked the cemetery and viewed the head stones of pioneers, war veterans, tribal members and employees of the park that are buried there. The pioneer cemetery is a great place to explore history!
