Our stay at Grand Caribe in San Pedro was, unfortunately, anything but “grand.” The resort itself is nice and well-maintained, but beyond the property’s appearance, the overall experience was pretty bland.
We booked the Romantic Getaway package with breakfast included, which was just okay—nothing memorable and definitely not a standout. Rain Restaurant was also just okay. The food and service were fine, but nothing that would make us want to return or recommend it specifically.
The biggest downside of our stay was the golf cart rentals through the resort. They are overpriced and unreliable. We were stranded twice after going through three separate carts, all with issues, before finally turning the cart in and renting from another company. That alone put a significant damper on our trip and caused unnecessary frustration.
One of the few true highlights of our stay was a couples massage at the on-premise spa, which was genuinely relaxing and well done. That said, the overall highlights of our trip were often found off property and booked privately, rather than through the resort itself.
The staff overall was okay—polite enough, but nothing exceptional or above and beyond. In the end, Grand Caribe isn’t terrible, but it’s very mediocre at best. For the price, we expected a much better and more seamless experience. At this point, they should either just call it Caribe, because it certainly isn’t “Grand,” or change the name from Grand Caribe to Bland Caribe, which feels more accurate based on our stay.
