Grand Hotel Ambasciatori (Sorrento, Amalfi Coast) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It says something about the absurdly high standards of Italy as a travel destination that Sorrento is often in danger of being somewhat overlooked. But with the Amalfi Coast just around the corner, and Capri just a hydrofoil hop away, that’s exactly what it is. Which is insane, because a view over the Bay of Naples is something extraordinary, any way you slice it — just ask anyone who’s seen the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori (to pick a convenient enough example)." - Tablet Hotels

The last 3 days of our 2 weeks on the Amalfi Coast were spent at this MAGNIFICENT hotel. The staff always RAN to my aid since I use an electric scooter . . . they offered their arms to hold onto whenever I had to step off of the scooter . . . they placed ramps down on steps wherever I went. They were just amazing! ||The room was impeccable, very large, and accommodating for my husband and me. The beautiful tiled sunken tub and shower was simply EXTRAORDINARY! We felt so pampered. The bathroom items are from the highest-quality brands and are very exclusive. The balcony with full view of the sea was lovely and we enjoyed watching all of the boats come in and out of the marina.||The hotel restaurant is better than most high-end eateries. The Gnocchi alla Sorrentina is so delicious, we ordered it every day! The buffet breakfast overlooking the sea and Bay of Naples is breathtaking.||The grounds to lounge around on, or use the huge pool is like a dream, so green and lush. And even in a city, there is perfect peace and quiet. The hotel is a brief 15-minute stroll to the city center and Piazza Tasso. ||This is a hotel experience that we highly recommend and will return to each and every time we are in the region!||Grazie mille!!!

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon, and it was amazing. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome and the hotel even surprised us with champagne and treats in our room to celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch. The views are stunning (especially at sunset) and our room was beautiful and spotless. The service throughout our stay was also top-notch. We especially loved the beach club and spent a full day there. The location was also perfect-just a short walk into town and the train station (which we took to Pompeii). I was so happy we chose this hotel, everything exceeded our expectations and I would definitely come back in the future.

Amazing Hotel, brilliant staff, superb food. The whole 4 days were outstanding, restaurant food was awesome and the staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel even put a bottle of champagne in our friends room as it was his birthday.|The room was lovely, spotlessly clean, and anything we asked for was sorted quickly.|The night it was raining they were giving out umbrellas to everyone going out.|All the staff are so friendly and sociable|I would go back again as soon as we get the opportunity, it was so relaxing, and an enjoyable experience..

There is no doubt that the hotel is beautiful and in an ideal location. The views are stunning. This room we stayed in was only adequate. It was room 702 and it had a tiny balcony and a partial sea view. Layout of the room had something to be desired. There is no full length mirror anywhere in the room. In addition the minibar was very dirty, as were some aspects of the bathroom. However, the most undesirable aspect of this hotel is the fact that the food and beverage department is very un accommodating and the waiters can be rude. My travel agent, who is wonderful, booked some amazing excursions, however they left very early in the morning. On one morning when we asked if we could take something with us from the breakfast buffet the waiter was incredibly rude and acted like we were low class. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk they did not seem to be concerned and told me the excursions the hotel booked did not leave early. I think because Sorrento is dependent on tourism, the hotels should accomodate the guests that need to leave early to make it in time to an early excursion rather than be rude and disrespectful. Regardless of the beauty of this hotel, I will not be reccomending it to my friends who travel. We went without breakfast two days, despite paying for it and at no time did any staff member appear to be the slightest bit apologetic.

Beautiful 5* hotel set in cliff top overlooking the Bay of Naples. Historic feel to hotel with terrrace restaurants looking out to sea leading to some great sunsets. Breakfast buffet is extensive and varied. Restaurant food quality is good and service excellent. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Small fitness room, good massage facilities and paid use of jacuzzi. Has its own beach area (more rocky than sand as is typical of this part of coast). Short walk into Sorrento itself (10-15 mins) also not far from train and bus stations.

Wow, what can I say!! This was collectively our favorite hotel on this trip to Italy (and we stayed in 5 different five star rated hotels). The views, the room and amenities, the service, the beach club, the drinks, this hotel had it all! Also, the best hotel shower we have ever encountered!! The comfort of the beds, pillows and every aspect of the room were unmatched. We only wish the menu at the beach resort had better offerings. If going to Sorrento look no further! Stay here without a doubt!!

We stayed at 5 star hotels in Venice, Rome and at the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori. This was the most impressive of them all. The rooms were pristine and spacious. The walkout balcony with a hot tub, overlooking the bay was breathtaking for sunrise and sunsets. I had my suitcase lost/stolen at the Rome train station. Max Pollio at the front desk said that he would continue to contact the police at the station in an attempt to find my bag. I had written it off. It was a new suitcase but I had a new (never worn) 700EU pair of Ferragamo shoes in there. 2 Weeks after returning to the U.S. I received a call from Max, he found my bag!!! He did not give up like he said. A true man of his word. He arranged to have it sent to my house. So the hotel was amazing and we will stay there on our next Italy trip but you cannot get better individual care than at this hotel. When you stay there ask for Max, tell him Robert sent you !

The hotel is beautiful, the room and view were lovely and met expectations. The food was terrible. No flavor, served cold or at room temperature. The chicken was over cooked. The servers in the restaurant were incredibly rude. One day I asked for parmesan cheese on something and the waiter sneered, walked away from the table muttering, and I could hear him talking to his coworkers disparaging my request. The buffet breakfast hot foods were always cold, even if they just refreshed it. We actually got served cold coffee one morning. The dinner was again, flavorless, dry, and unappetizing. The service in the restaurant is terrible. I finished my appetizer and my mother was just chewing the last bit of hers when the waiter came over and took the utensils out of her hand while she was still chewing. The wait staff looked sullen and were muttering disparaging comments about the people in the restaurant. The front desk people were hit or miss with their politeness. Housekeeping staff was wonderful! By the end of our five day stay it did not surprise me that they did not ask how our stay was when we checked out; they really just don't care and rely on their location to keep the hotel at a high rating.

Yelp
Our third time visiting this cliff hugging paradise in Sorrento and it was fantastic. 5 stars in every way, we opted for a king ocean view room overlooking the spacious gardens and pool, it was beautiful. We included breakfast in our room and the consensus was it was one of the best, if not the best one ever. Omelettes and pancakes freshly made to order, a wide selection of meats, cheeses, bacon, sausage, sweets, breads and cereals. Not to mention the gorgeous room we diners enjoyed gazing out from onto the Mediterranean and the bay of Naples. Service was exceptional, not only for breakfast but also in the terrace for drinks or dinner, housekeeping and overall everyone we encountered who worked at the hotel. There is an elevator that takes you to the sea where you'll find a private swimming area with chairs and umbrellas plus a small bar serving drinks and light fare. The gardens and pool area are beautiful, grounds are superbly manicured. Every detail is considered, I did not find one thing out of place or lacking in the entire property. We had dinner the last night under the pergola and it was again amazing. Food was very good, but I have to mention there was a couple singing and playing guitar and mandolin serenading the diners with Sorrento style songs, very special. We had turndown service nightly with a chocolate treat left on our nightstand, room freshened with new towels and coffee station replacements. Nice to return to our room after the service. Two bottles of complimentary water left daily and a real feeling of care and attention conveyed by the room staff. We will return.

Yelp
The staff here are phenomenal. The front desk people went above and beyond to make sure we knew where to go, where to eat, and that we had transportation when needed. Max was not only nice to look at but he helped us so many times. The breakfast food is good - try the omelet station. The atmosphere is very upscale everywhere you go from the lobby, to the grounds, and the rooms are very comfortable.

Yelp
Absolutely the finest hotel I have ever experienced. Beautiful accommodations, in perfect order. Every single staff member was helpful and made you feel both special and appreciated. Breakfasts were so fresh and delicious. Complimentary snacks with cocktails was a nice treat. Will miss every moment and experience, when we leave. The States could learn something from here. Giancarlo and Sabrina were especially wonderful!!

Yelp
Stayed in this glorious location for two nights. The rooms and views are amazing. The food was categorically some of the worst we have had in Italy. We made mention of several meals not even being edible and they said (and did) nothing about it. Fish was mealy and we were afraid of getting ill. Not just one meal. Had lunch and dinner here hoping for a better outcome. They need a new chef.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori hotel for a week for our honeymoon and our stay was absolutely perfect! The property itself is stunning, the pictures don't do it justice and the staff were incredible. We worked with Rosario from reservations prior to arriving and he was very kind and accommodating and we really appreciated that he went above and beyond for us. The attention to detail and service - from the chocolates left on our bed each night, to the service of the staff during breakfast, to the gardening, the perfect temperature of the pool- everything was truly a 5-star experience. I would HIGHLY recommend to my family and friends!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon and loved it! It is an absolutely beautiful beach deck and view and a cute little beach bar. My favorite parts of this hotel were the amazing breakfast (omelette bar, crepes, fresh fruit, prosecco and more!) the adorable beach front deck, and our room which was quite large and had a balcony. The hotel was in general conveniently located and had beautiful decor. My only qualms - my husband and I were two of only about 10 people in the hotel under 60 years old, and the hotel also had a bit of a stuffy and formal vibe. Also, there seemed to be a small ant problem - about 10 ants in our bed each night - and the hotel is about a 15 minute walk from town. Overall we had an amazing experience here and definitely would go back.

Yelp
This is a first class Hotel. Stayed for 4 nights and they made us feel like VIP's. We had a partial ocean view room on the top floor. The view was incredible. The room had a private balcony and plenty of space. It is a bit dated compared to modern hotels but still has a classy, boutique and 5 star vibe. The two swimming areas are outstanding. A pool area with a restaurant/ bar close by and a oceanfront private multi level deck/bar with private ocean access. The water is so clear, blue and clean. The service in both areas is first class. The best part of this beautiful hotel is the service. They will everything in their power to make you feel welcome, special, cared for and satisfied. We had breakfast included with our room and had a lunch and dinner while at the hotel. Food was very good. Service, it starts and ends there for me and I could not have been happier. It is not an inexpensive Hotel but is worth every euro.

Yelp
Magnifico! This hotel was a great find! Overlooks the beautiful Sea of Naples! Gorgeous Amalfi Coast! Make sure you reserve a sea view! Street side rooms are smaller and noisy due to cars and mopeds roaring by at all hours! We upgraded to a suite! So glad we did because we could really relax and enjoy the view! The grounds of this hotel are exquisite! Beautiful pool and ample seating around the pool with poolside restaurant. I cannot say enough how great the staff at the restaurants were to us. They treated us like royalty and attended to our every need. Our breakfast was included in our package and wow what a gorgeous display of the most amazing dishes! Beautiful cheeses, breads, made to order station for omelettes and Italian crepes, fruits, meats, jams and jellies, seafood, ETC! Then with your amazing breakfast you sit on a terrace and gaze down to the Amalfi Coast with Mt Vesuvius and Island of Capri off in the distance. We also ate dinner in their main restaurant and the staff gave us great recommendations for the most delectable meal! Even the dessert was picture perfect. Great portions, amazing seafood and pasta, and many choices of meat dishes. It is walking distance to charming town and Grand Marina which is dotted with great restaurants with scrumptious seafood and pasta dishes. The lobby of this gorgeous hotel that is carved out of the cliff is beautifully appointed with white marble floors and stunning furniture and antiques. The front desk staff is helpful and accommodating. A special thank you to the manager for upgrading us to the most exquisite suite that took our breath away! Feather pillows, comfortable bed and bedding, Nespresso coffee machine, beautiful Italian tiles on floors, WiFi and great amenities! From our terrace in our suite we could look out to the Mediterranean and gaze down at the umbrellas on a large deck with great lounge chairs on the Mediterranean! There is also a bar that has food and drinks that are delivered to your lounge chair! There is also a elevator that takes you down to this area which makes it easily accessible. Pristine swimming! All in all we loved this hotel and Sorrento! Grazie!!
