"This grand residence is much more than a hotel; it’s an institution. With its superb seaside location, a refined ambience and a restaurant with an impressive terrace, it more than justifies its reputation." - Tablet Hotels

For Scheveningen our go to place since many years. Prices vary but you can get deals either via travel sites or also directly. Always friendly staff (most recently Anas and Braam from concierge, Juan at pool , Daniel from maintenance, Sjoerd from front desk - all super friendly and professional). Grand old hotel with sea view (ask for it), family friendly and easy going but top friendly Dutch style. Leave your bikes in storage for free. Sauna, fitness, bathing pool, ... all here. They had some changes regarding when kids can use the swimming pool. So check the times. You obviously can't please everyone but I think you cannot expect a spa atmosphere at a family hotel - and remember that these kids will pay our rent. :) Kiosk, restaurants nearby, bike rental (first come first serve), nearby garage parking 39 Eur/day) and cheaper a little down the road or by the beach close to Aloha Surfshop. Then you can take an Uber back or walk. Easy access to tram for going into the Hague. Try surf lessons at Aloha (my favorite surf shop), try dinner at the marina (Dagvisser, Simonis, Callao, ...) and try beach volleyball lessons at Lindobeach. Love this place.

I am being very generous with a 4 star review of this place. It is a beautiful building, and the staff was very nice. The rooms are pretty big, although the bathroom is unfriendly if you are not 100% mobile. I had a mild knee sprain prior to coming here, and it was not easy getting into and out of the shower. The location is amazing, both to the boardwalk and the beach, and to the Tram line which can take you all the way into downtown and to Delft, which I strongly recommend a trip to if you are staying at the Kurhaus.||Negatives: One of the elevators was not working for the duration of a 3 night stay. That is simply unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. A hotel like this should get someone to the hotel at 2 in the morning if the elevator is not working. The main hall is gorgeous, but needs a thorough cleaning and just to be refreshed a bit. I have read complaints about the restaurant in the hotel. Without going into details of my experience, Waves is one of the worst run restaurants I have ever seen, and I only went there for drinks in the evening. The reviews for the restaurant are bad. That said, there are literally dozens of good restaurants for all budgets on the boardwalk right out the backdoor, so why would anyone eat at Waves? On some level, if you eat at a restaurant with terrible reviews when there are many better options within a short walk, that is on you, not the restaurant.||This was my second trip to the Kurhaus, and I will probably be back in a few years. I am rooting for this place to get better, because it has so much potential.

I had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus. My suite offered a stunning seaside view, the spa was the perfect reset, and the hotel’s historic halls with art and sculptures made the experience truly inspiring. The breakfast buffet and service were excellent, a real highlight of the stay. Outside of breakfast, however, staff interactions felt less consistent — at times team spirit and experience seemed to be missing, with service at the restaurant and during check-in a bit slow and less polished than expected for such a grand hotel. With more consistency and attention to detail across all teams, this would easily be a flawless 5-star stay.

Although the hotel is advertised as a 5 star property, it unfortunately does not live up to that rating. The rooms were outdated and overall, the facilities did not reflect the quality expected from a 5-star hotel. I requested a towel from reception, but it never arrived. I had to call again 6 hours later (at 2 a.m.) before finally receiving it. The hotel charges €50 per night for parking, even for guests staying at the property, which is extremely overpriced. At check-in, I asked to change my room from a city view to a sea view (I could see that sea view rooms were available), but the staff refused, saying there were no vacancies, even though the hotel appeared almost empty. When I requested a late checkout at 12:00 p.m. instead of 11:00 a.m., I was told it would cost €15 per room, which felt unnecessarily stingy for a so-called 5 star hotel. The only positive aspects were the hotel’s exterior appearance and its location, which are both very nice, but sadly, everything else fell short of expectations.

The hotel is ideally located at the beach. It has a very long and rich history. Staff was generally very friendly and service minded. |Room (executive with sea view) was ok although the balcony was disappointing. |Breakfast was busy but fine. |The really negative point is price/quality.

A beachfront property - with everything you need for a family. We stayed in the Presidential suite which was excellent. All of the team members we met were brilliant including the concierge team. One thing that is disappointing is lack of room service in the evenings! Really enjoyed our time in our suite!

Fantastic hotel, 5★ service from check in to check out. We loved our stay here, the room was spacious & clean, the staff were cheerful & always helpful. We were even checked in early by the lovely Yulia. Lovely breakfast with a view, unbeatable location right on the beach. Already looking forward to going back.

Yelp
We just checked out this morning and I am very disappointed in so many things!!! My first complaint was the elevators. It took us and the bellhop 20 minutes to get to our room because there was a line of people at the elevator, one wasn't working and we needed a whole elevator for us and the luggage cart. The elevators continued to be a problem for the rest of our stay...waiting 5-10 minutes every time. Stairs weren't an option as we were on the 4th floor. My next complaint was the pool at the spa. There was a group of 20 year old boys that were splashing, riding on each others shoulders, doing cannonballs and stealing people's lounge chairs. I had to go out to reception to get them to do something about it. I believe they had a day pass because they had light brown robes instead of the white robes we had in our room. They should have been forced to leave because of their behavior. My last problem was at checkout. We asked to put our luggage in our car so we could spend a couple of hours at the beach. We were told we had to remove the car by 11:00. Seriously...we paid almost 50 euros, parked at 17:00 yesterday and had to leave by 11:00 this morning!!! When I complained to the desk clerk at checkout, he gave me a comment card with a mini stroopwaffel attached and told me to leave a comment and they would probably do something for me "next time". There won't be a "next time".

Yelp
The Kurhaus has the name as a grand hotel. Now, it is not that anymore, but staying here for 2 nights on a business trip it was by all means a pleasant stay with a clean comfortable room, good WiFi and a nice breakfast. What sets it apart is the spectacular building, the location on the sea front and, logistically, the fact that the number 9 (& 1) tram stops right outside.

Yelp
This hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel. I do not recommend that you stay at the hotel unless you are looking for a 1 or 2 star experience. Management is unresponsive. Below is an excerpt from an email to Ms Rooij, the assistant manager. I NEVER received a reply email; Ms Rooij, We appreciate the time you spent with us this morning and your email below. First, kindly email me a folio showing the room rates which I prepaid and all other items charged to my credit card. I did not receive a folio upon our departure from the Hotel and none was sent to me by email. I note the following charges have been charged to my credit card and I need an explanation: 29 April 2024 USD 357.64, presumably the valet parking charge. 29 April 2024 USD 90.35, presumably the applicable tourist taxes. 3 May 2024 USD 112.69. Dinner at the Wave. 4 May 2024 USD 74.13. Dinner at the Wave. 6 May 2024 USD 256.83, an unknown charge. And an unknown credit dated 6 May 2024 in the account of USD 356.41. Second, as I told you this morning, I was charged for valet parking but the Hotel did not provide me with the agreed upon valet parking. This is wholly unacceptable. You cannot charge a guest, or expect to be paid, for services you did not render or provide. I had no interest in purchasing self-parking from the Hotel, nor did I expect to be the valet. You purport to be a 5 star hotel, but you have fallen woefully short, which you acknowledged to us in the presence of your colleagues. We paid to stay at a 5 star hotel, which was not the case during our stay. At a minimum, I expect a full refund of the valet parking charges and such other compensation you feel is appropriate under the circumstances. In order to avoid a dispute, I recommend that you immediately refer this matter to your General Manager who was unavailable to speak with us this morning so that we can attempt to reach an amicable resolution of this dispute. Thank you and regards,

Yelp
This hotel looks good on paper, but it's actually old and poorly run. The workout room and pool are very small, which is surprising because the hotel itself is huge. One evening they sent a letter that they were shutting off the power and that we had to move. You would think they would move us professionally with a bell- hop, but instead they made us move ourselves and luggage to the lobby to get new keys and back again to new rooms. Later that evening, their faculty stole my friend's expensive pair of Nikes that he left in the old room. If you value your things, do NOT stay here. When you approach the front desk about anything, they are in complete denial about everything. They have 24 hours before my stay is over. I hope they can make things right.

Yelp
Cool entourage at a Great location! Good size rooms and clean. Mini bar is included. The views from the room over the Sea are awesome. Stacks Up with it's high-end Reputation, but the hotel can use some maintenance though..

Yelp
Oh, my goodness!! This place is wonderful. ON the beach, beautiful, comfortable, everything within walking distance. Great view, good service. Nothing bad to say about this place.

Yelp
The Kurhaus is supposedly a 5-star hotel but offers very shoddy accommodations and absolutely no service what so ever. They want 15 Euros for a bucket of ice and will not provide an empty ice bucket so you can buy your own ice for 1 Euro! Do not pay top dollar for filthy accommodations and rude service, or should I say lack of service!
