Grand Hotel Bonavia

My stay at Hotel Bonavia in Rijeka was a truly delightful experience from the moment I arrived. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and always ready to assist, creating an immediate sense of comfort and hospitality. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impressive – from the reception area to the room, everything was spotless and well-maintained. The room itself was cozy, fresh, and beautifully arranged, which added greatly to the overall experience. The welcome gift was a thoughtful gesture that showed how much the hotel cares about its guests. Small details like this make a big difference and leave a lasting positive impression. Overall, I warmly recommend Hotel Bonavia to anyone looking for quality accommodation in the heart of Rijeka, paired with excellent service and outstanding cleanliness. I would gladly return!

I haven’t stayed at this hotel, but the receptionist let me play the piano in the lobby and helped me with anything I needed. Super friendly, kind, and always with a big smile. Just wanted to say thanks for such a nice gesture, amazing staff

We booked a hotel but could not have reached in time so cancelled a booking in good time. However hotel didnt want to hear about not charging us, and charged us full amount, which is very dissapointing considering we never used it.

Best location in all Rijeka, wide and comfortable rooms with ample bathrooms… excellent staff, kind and helpful, clean, breakfast buffet is great, a wide selection of food including fresh fruits, vegetables, charcuterie… Parking is very limited outside the hotel, but they offer you a 12€ per night spot at a covered parking lot, just 5 minutes (literally 3 blocks) away from the hotel…. The only “but” I have from this hotel is the rooms are old-fashioned (not in a good way precisely), old rugs, wood finishings including the desk, chair, night stands… if they invest in the renovation of the rooms, it could easily be the best hotel in Rijeka…. Anyways, highly recommended.

The modern "rock" of a building stands out in stark contrast to its architectural environment. But the interior is tasteful, and the location is convenient with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and the harbor.||The receptionist went out of his way to be informative. Unfortunately, part of the information was that the hotel has very limited parking spaces, uses an external parking garage also, but even that one was full at the time of our arrival. We were later lucky to get a slot in front of the hotel, but one should not count on parking being easy.||The room was spacious and clean, and things worked. There was a minibar and an in-room safe--conveniently located for anyone who is at least 6 ft tall.||I appreciated the gym, but it carried free weights of only 5kg, then 15 kg and above! Nothing in between. The mat for floor work was of poor quality given the concrete floor.||The shower was old-style with a bath tub. Not very convenient, but at least there was an anti-slip mat.

I had a disappointing stay – poor customer service and uncomfortable experience.|While there were a few positives, they were heavily outweighed by the numerous issues I encountered.||Customer Service:|The most concerning aspect of my stay was the lack of professional and helpful customer service. Despite asking, the staff refused to connect me with a manager. Their attitude throughout was dismissive and unprofessional. I felt genuinely disregarded as a guest. Overall, service left much to be desired. I always try to give a property the opportunity to make things right before posting a disappointing review. This property lacked any interest in resolving anything. I have never been denied the opportunity to speak with management.||Room Conditions:|The room itself was spacious, which was appreciated, but that’s where the positives ended. The room had a strong odor of dog upon entry. The sheets appeared dingy, and after sitting on the couch, I became extremely itchy—possibly from fleas. The toilet button was faulty, frequently getting stuck and running for extended periods without flushing properly. The shower area was also poorly designed, with water splashing everywhere and a clogged drain. The shower-head was awkward and difficult to use.||Temperature & Comfort:|The management controls the AC, you have no ability to adjust it from your room.|Room temperature was a major issue. At check-in, the room was a stifling 77°F—even with the blinds closed and AC running on high. In the early morning, the room temperature was still 23°C (about 73°F), far above the ideal sleeping range. I was unable to sleep comfortably due to the heat. It’s clear the hotel is aware of the issue—there was only a single sheet on the bed, with the rest of the bedding stored in the closet. Meanwhile, the lobby remained noticeably cool, suggesting a lack of concern for guest comfort in the rooms. ||Room Amenities:|The room lacked basic conveniences—there were no USB ports or outlets of any kind near the bed, and no coffee or tea provided. These are standard expectations in most hotels today.||Noise:|There was loud, disruptive noise from adjoining rooms, this impacted sleep and the ability to rest.||Breakfast:|On a positive note, breakfast was very good. The area was spacious and well-maintained, which made for a pleasant morning experience.||Decor:|The hotel has older decor, which didn’t bother me. However, overall cleanliness and maintenance left a lot to be desired.

The entrance of this hotel is truly stunning, giving off a very luxurious vibe right from the start. Breakfast is exceptional—definitely a 10/10 with a great variety and quality. The rooms, while comfortable, could use some updates as they feel a bit dated. One downside for taller guests like me (1.88m) is the bathtub with a shower—it’s a bit small to stand in comfortably. Overall, a pleasant stay with a few minor improvements needed. I would rate 3 out of 5 but the location is really ideal.

The hotel has an excellent location and very friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but very outdated and lack enough power outlets, especially near the bedside tables.
