Grand Hotel - by Classic Norway Hotels

I had the pleasure of staying at Grand Hotel – by Classic Norway Hotels, and it was truly a memorable experience. The hotel perfectly blends classic charm with modern comfort. The rooms were beautifully furnished, spacious, and offered a relaxing atmosphere with thoughtful details throughout. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and professional, always ready to assist with a warm smile. The breakfast selection was excellent — fresh, delicious, and served in a cozy setting. Its central location made it convenient for exploring the area, yet the hotel maintained a peaceful and elegant ambiance. A wonderful place to stay if you’re looking for authentic Norwegian hospitality combined with high-quality service. Highly recommended!

I've loved my stay at the hotel, which is not only very comfortable and quiet, but also full of history. The photos you can see in the halls and the corridors (don't miss them) attest the glorious past of the structure, balanced by the cozy and welcoming present atmosphere. I've loved my room, the lounges and the restaurant. The position is perfect, very close to the bus/train station and the sea.

I didn’t love this hotel. Room size and bedding were fine but shower design was awful. It has two doors that BOTH open so you don’t get a perfect seal and floods the entire bathroom with every shower. I’ve never seen such awful shower design in any hotel. It’s despicable. I accidentally left an expensive camera lens behind and they didn’t even bother to email me to let me know about it. That’s basic courtesy. I had to email them to ask about it. Restaurant is understaffed. Takes a while to get service because there aren’t enough waiters. Food is decent. In this town, dining options are quit limited. Gym is fully equipped, which is one of the positives but items are all over the floor, not cleaned up end of day. But you can get a decent workout in. Service with reception was decent but mediocre. Service at the restaurant for dinner was great. Even though they were understaffed, the waitresses were great. I didn’t enjoy my stay here.

Seems the only real hotel in the center of Åndalsnes, great location. The room is tired, especially the bathroom, the carpet and console table. The bathroom is not small, but the vanity is so tiny you can hardly put a glass on; the shower has both rain and regular shower heads which is supposed to be good unfortunately both shower heads flows; the worst is that the drain smell really bad.

Parking is very limited. Sleepy place, with few places to eat. We would not return. Hotel has a ramp system to the entrance to avoid the steps but it is still quite difficult. There is a lift once inside the hotel. Reception and dining areas are very dark and dingy. Room seems to have been recently updated. Small but clean and comfortable. Food was mediocre at best in the hotel restaurant and at breakfast. Poor service as there were too few staff.

Fantastic! Rooms were beautiful, we had a great view and the beds were so comfy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and dinner were amazing! Easy walk to all activities. The parking was limited but there are other locations nearby, we were lucky and got the last spot for the evening. Highly recommend!

Stay at Grand Hotel for just one night. The breakfast was out of my expectations. The variety of drinks and foods made me feel so regret that i should wake up early to enjoy the food. The hotel location is excellent, walking distance to everywhere. But of cuz, better to have a car so to go further. I met two sweet front desk staff and several nice restaurant staff. Sorry could not recall their names but truly thank you for making my stay wonderful. Last but not least, the room is decent and i have a good sleep. No need to hurry because check out at 12:00

Stayed there recently, Had a lovely stay. A good choice. The young lady on reception was very helpful (& provided a town walking map too). Room was clean and we had a view over the fjord. Lounge areas on the ground floor were spacious and relaxing. Breakfast buffet was lovely (& you can also buy a foam container to pack some in for a later picnic). Wifi (250Mbps) was great. Nice restaurant on the ground floor too (need a reservation) - menu was different to the website.

Pros: Modern room Great breakfast with large variety Really nice views (I believe on both sides of the hotel) Clean Large rooms Quiet Walking distance from a great hike Coffee machine in room and also coffee/water available in lobby -Parking lot is small for the size of the hotel and gets full around 7pm. As a result we couldn't drive anywhere for dinner so had to eat in the immediate area (minimal choice) -Location: minimal restaurants in walking distance and even few within driving distance
