The 34 Best Hotels in Barcelona

"The smart lobby of the Grand Hotel Central looks like what you’d expect a city-center five-star hotel, but with an exciting new twist. The hotel reopened in mid-2024 under new management following a major refurb, and we’re obsessed with the new look. The redesign has given the rooms a cool, colorful, and decidedly Mediterranean vibe (to replace the rather corporate—dare we say, slightly soulless—former look). Natural materials like wood, stone and polished concrete, combined with a soft color palette of warm terracotta, muted blues, and blush pinks, create a relaxed, homey feel. All the furniture is bespoke and inspired by the Catalan Noucentisme movement–from the lighting to coffee tables and headboards, designed to emphasize clean lines, color reduction and harmony. Bathroom amenities and a house scent from the Barcelona-based Carner perfumiers fill the space with a deliciously sensual aroma." - Gemma Askham, Isabelle Kliger

15 Best Hotels in Barcelona

"Housed in a historic neoclassical building, this hotel offers traditional elegance and luxury. Streetside rooms provide a view of the city’s ancient Roman walls, and the rooftop pool offers a close-up look at Via Laietana’s façades. The hotel features a cocktail bar and a restaurant serving traditional Spanish cuisine." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"This luxury hotel melds historic charm with 21st-century designer sass. Located deep in the middle of Barcelona ’s bustle, it occupies a 1920s building that’s been lovingly reworked by architect Oriol Tintoré. Original features, most notably the winding neoclassical stairway, are immediately apparent in the stately lobby entrance, and these heritage touches continue into the hotel’s public spaces and many of the rooms. Not that the rooms are traditional; on the contrary, they’re very slick, decked out with modern conveniences such as media hubs, complimentary minibars (restocked daily), and rain showers. The rooms, arranged so they face outward, are generously flooded with daylight, which highlights the restrained color palettes and elegant wooden floors. Shared facilities at the hotel include a roof terrace with infinity pool, a Mediterranean bistro-style restaurant, and a comprehensive spa and wellness center."

"How did it strike you on arrival? The smart lobby of the Grand Hotel Central looks exactly as you’d expect for a city-center five-star hotel. What’s the crowd like?Well-heeled North American and European couples in their 30s and 40s make up the bulk of travelers here. Tell us about your room.Room 626 is one of Grand Hotel Central’s generously appointed Superior King rooms. The room has a spectacular view of the Santa Maria del Mar, a Gothic basilica erected in the 14th century and one of Barcelona’s most prominent historic buildings. How are the beds? The king-size bed comes with four hypoallergenic pillows and 100 percent Egyptian-cotton sheets. What are the in-room amenities?Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee capsules, teabags, infusions, and a minibar stuffed with complimentary soft drinks and snacks. Check and check. The 32-inch flat-screen TV gets more than 100 international channels. How are the bathrooms? The rain shower is by Grohe and the bathrooms products come from Finca Gayeta in Mallorca. Close to 90 percent of Grand Hotel Central’s rooms come with a bathtub. Is there Wi-Fi?Wi-Fi is free and available in all areas of the hotel. Anything stand out about other services and features? With its infinity pool and panoramic views stretching from the Sagrada Família on one side to the Mediterranean and the hilltop of Montjuïc on the other, it's no big surprise that the rooftop of the Grand Hotel Central pops up often on "best hotel terraces" lists. It also happens to be one of the best spots in the city for a sunset drink. What was most memorable about your stay? The roof terrace is the definite standout feature. Bottom line: worth it, and why?If you’re looking for a solid five-star stay in the center of town, this is it. Rooms are neither inexpensive nor wildly overpriced." - Isabelle Kliger

What a fabulous stay at this hotel. Check-in was efficient and as it was so late, we went straight to our room and to bed. Our bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in and I had a perfect nights sleep.||Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cakes, smoked salmon, Spanish omelette, scrambled eggs, grilled vegetables, there was something there for everyone. Very good coffee too! ||The location is ideal, in the gothic quarter of Barcelona with so many intriguing little streets to explore and numerous bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. ||After a day of sightseeing we spent an hour or two at the rooftop bar looking out over the city while enjoying a couple of glasses of champagne while the sun went down. We ate dinner in the hotel resturant which had a varied menu, really great attentive staff who were able to recommend certain dishes and wine to accompany the dishes we’d chosen. We chose a variety of tapas and all of the food was delicious, there wasn’t a dish we did not like. Finished with an Espresso Martini with an orange twist!! ||Checkout the next day at 12pm was no issue at all and the hotel kept hold of our cases for us while we spent a second day sightseeing and shopping - on return to the hotel at the end of the day our cases were brought straight to us and the staff had arranged a taxi for us. ||Everything about this hotel was just brilliant, from the staff to the service to the hotel itself and the little additions like the oranges left in our room, and chocolates from a local shop left out for us. ||If we visit Barcelona again we will most certainly be back.

This is a beautifully maintained hotel. The public areas and the rooms are excellent. The front desk staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful. We only had one night in the hotel because we were heading on to a cruise. The Can Bo restaurant was excellent too. Breakfast was okay, but no a la carte options, just a standard buffet. Location seemed to be very central. I would recommend for a city break.

Google
As a Hilton Gold member, I was thrilled when the Grand Hotel Central allowed me to check in super early—around 8am—which immediately set the tone for a fantastic stay. The room itself was stunning: beautifully designed with high-end finishes, a supremely comfortable bed, and plush pillows that made it hard to leave.||||I especially appreciated the thoughtful details—automatic blackout blinds, unthrottled air conditioning (thank you for letting me keep the room cold), and bedside USB-C and USB-A charging ports. There was also ample storage space, a well-stocked mini bar, and comfy robes that added an extra layer of luxury. Turndown service with chocolates was a sweet touch, literally.||||The property as a whole is equally impressive. The rooftop bar and infinity pool offer breathtaking views of Barcelona, and there’s even an event space upstairs featuring a historic library that’s both beautiful and unique. The ground-floor restaurant served an incredible continental breakfast—easily one of the best spreads I’ve encountered in Europe.||||Quiet, luxurious, and effortlessly stylish, Grand Hotel Central exceeded all expectations. I can’t wait to return!

Google
5 star service and accommodations. The staff was amazing- the doorman were exceptional. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to nearly everything. The bed, bedding and pillows were PERFECT! The rooftop bar/ pool/ restaurant were an added bonus with amazing views. I would stay here 100 times over.

Stayed at newly renovated Grand Hotel Central in Barcelona. Part of SLH partnership, stayed 1 nights on points (80k). Was upgraded from entry to Superior room and my bags were placed for me in the room when I returned in the afternoon. My room wasn’t easy at 9am but expected. Another HH was able to check in but didn’t matter as a had a tour. Hotel is very beautiful and staff all 5 star service. Provided turn down service and the elite included breakfast was very filling. Very nice rooftop pool and bar and the restaurant and bar downstairs on ground floor is very pretty and great bartender. There is another separate restaurant they use for breakfast. Hotel is full service 5 star with doorman, concierge, bikes to borrow, gym and library. I like how the room has EU and US outlets in the wall Located across the street from the Barcelona Cathedral and less than 10 min walk to La Rambla and number of squares with shops and dining. Highly recommend.

Hotel is central. Staff knowledgeable. Room good. Breakfast outstanding, staff helpful, with both standard and Catalan local foods available in a bright room. The pool deck has a good east & north view of Barcelona; with the cafe serving tapas & local recipes; we ate 2 dinners there. Management have put effort into the staff and organisation of the hotel.

Yelp
There's nothing but good things to say about this hotel. The entire staff always have a smile on their face and are always willing to help. We were checked in by Irene and were assisted to our room by Victor. Both of them were friendly, professional, and polite. The rest of the staff were equally amazing, I just forgot their names. My apologies. Although there wasn't any junior suite available at the time of our check-in, we were given a corner room, which was perfect. The toiletries and linens were luxurious (The only issue I had was with the lotion. It curdled. I don't know what's up with that) I found the bed very comfortable for my back. It was somewhat firm. The room was a good size. The bathroom; acceptable size as well, although it would've been better if we had a separate shower. It's not a big deal, nevertheless. They have a turn down service. And of course, bottled water every day for elite members. We had a tiny issue with the lights because of all the mix and matching of the lights switch. It was so confusing that we couldn't get the hallway light to turn on. But thanks to the assistance of one of the staff, it was sorted out right away. The rooftop bar and infinity pool are epic. Too bad, I only got to see it during the daytime (because we spent our days exploring the city that we forgot about the hotel). The view up top is probably spectacular in the evening. Complimentary breakfast every day (for elite members) at Bistro Helena was satisfying. We had to skip a couple, though, due to our hectic schedule. If I were to visit Barcelona again, this would definitely be at the top of my list. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Spain, country known for rooftops! There's so many and by far I think this one is worth visiting. Drinks were delicious and view wasn't so bad either. Hard to find but once in we didn't leave.

Yelp
Wow this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. And I have stayed at a lot of at first I was a little anxious due to the construction but they are the most accommodating hotel I have ever encountered. They checked us in even though we had just booked minutes before at like 1 in the morning. I booked a suite but they did not have it but they were able to accommodate and I was very grateful I don't even care how much the room cost. At the end of the stay I got a flat tire and they were able to check me out at 2:30 which is unheard AND I forgot my shoes and they sent me this email stating they would ship them. My experience was jadropping and I NEVER LEAVE REVIEWS BUT I JUST HAD TO LEAVE THIS for this hotel. Not to mention how nice staff was if you're thinking of staying here and thinking the price is high it'll be worth it !!

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel for about a week during my stay at Barcelona, and I absolutely loved every second of it. I remember the first day I checked in. I decided to walk 1-2 miles from my previous hotel near La Sagrada Familia all the way to the gothic quarter (where Grand Hotel is located). Halfway thru the hike, I realized I made a terrible mistake, especially considering that I was lugging my heavy backpack and a suitcase.. WITH a Fanny pack AND an FC Barca jersey on (can not get more touristy). After 40+ minutes of walking, I made it. Sweating and heaving as I walked in the door. The staff immediately greeted me with cold water and an espresso. The building itself is a beautiful old renovated building with marble staircases, a nice lounge area, and a cozy restaurant. After I checked in, the staff escorted me to my room and explained all the features and offered recommendations. The location of this place is amazing - I could see the Barcelona cathedral outside my window. And I was right in the heart of the historic gothic quarter, what a beautiful place. The room itself was huge - large windows, big bed, tall ceilings, a powder room, and a large bathroom area. Everything was super modern and clean. The rooftop bar is pretty awesome too. It's a bit small for the size of the hotel, especially the infinity pool. But the vibes are phenomenal. Good music, good food, good people. I wish the pool stayed open past 7PM, would be nice to go for a late night dip! Awesome place - made my trip very memorable. 5/5

Yelp
Great hotel, terrific staff, amazing location. Great rooftop bar and pool. Unfortunately during my stay, constantly rained so it was closed.

Yelp
Beautiful fun hotel centrally located to everything in Barcelona. Wonderfully appointed rooms, lobby and restaurant for night time dining. The breakfast offerings were exceptional. Topping it all off were the views from the rooftop pool and the pool itself, perfect way to spend part of the day or evening. Enjoy!

Yelp
Grand Central is not only in a great location, but overall a great hotel and experience. The service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive and pleasant to talk to. The rooms were clean and housekeeping did a great job for both normal room cleaning and turn down service. The amenities of the rooftop bar, fitness center, and lobby restaurant are all and worth a visit and nice to have on premises. Both Bistro Helena and Skybar drinks were delicious. We would definitely recommend someone staying there. Perfect for walking to La Rambla, nearby neighborhoods, and then coming back to relax in comfortable and clean room with great service and amenities.

Yelp
Pros - Very clean/well maintained Friendly, helpful staff - found us a wheelchair at no charge; ran one block to find us a taxi during a busy time Great views at rooftop bar/pool Good housekeeping staff - rms were well equiped; nicely cleaned each am Great location - convenient to cafes/pharmacy/bars/taxis/markets/shopping Three elevators Blackout curtains in bedrooms Very comfortable bedding/linens Cons - Rooftop area is on the small side Reserved chairs at pool make it hard to find seats because of empty reserved lounge chairs, even signage states no reserving allowed Hard to get ice Poor drainage in room sinks/showers

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a trip from the U.S. Staff - The staff are very helpful and pleasant. I got assistance from the front desk and concierge getting tips and info. They also helped us scheduling cabs at set times. Housekeeping was great too. I am messy and they organized my stuff. They replenished items too such as bottled water, Godiva chocolate square, towels, and complimentary toiletries. The last night of our stay we discovered they came back a second time in the same day after 8 pm. Location - The hotel is nearby restaurants and markets about 10 mins. to the Hop On Hop Off tour buses. There are also common chain like Starbucks and Burger King a few blocks away. It is nearby the cathedral so at certain times the bell will go off. Amenities - It has a gym and lounge/infinity pool on the roof. Check it out, beautiful view overlooking the city. The hotel offers free wifi but it was spotty. My connection was intermittent. Room - It is small if you are sharing with a travel partner. They have two twin size beds that are pushed together. The bathroom is separated by a curtain from the bed area. If you are a light sleeper and someone is getting ready in the bathroom it wakes you up. Behind the curtain is the sink and a small closet. Then a sliding door with the toilet and shower behind it. I'm not sure if I liked the room layout. The walls were also thin and I could hear our neighboring guests' tv and laughing. Also if you like to sleep in late and are a light sleeper housekeeping comes around early and you can hear them cleaning. One last note, if you are from another country, you will need to bring a travel universal adapter as the outlet in Spain may be different than your country's.

Yelp
I really like this hotel. I would love to come back and stay in this hotel again. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed. The staff is fabulous.

Yelp
This small boutique hotel is very well located in the Gothic district. Easy walking access to restaurants, shops and bars. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I plan on staying here again when I return to Barcelona. The restaurant inside the hotel has excellent food and service, so upon arrival no need to trek out. Just eat a light meal in the lobby and then return to your room for a good nights sleep.

Yelp
Grand Hotel Central is a beautiful upscale hotel in the perfect location of Barcelona for walking & site seeing. My husband & I stayed here before a cruise we boarded in Barcelona, and we were truly treated like royalty. We were greeted with a welcome drink and taken care of immediately with early check in. The rooms are very nice, spacious & clean. The staff is truly awesome. One can not beat the location of this hotel. You can catch the "hop on, hop off" bus just diagonal from the hotel, as well as walk to the Arch & Barcelona cathedral. There are many restaurants & shops shops near by as well as a great restaurant right in the hotel lobby. It was also only about a 15 minute walk to the Columbus monument & Guiell Palace. As for the hotel itself, i also want to mention the luxurious robes in the room. I would have loved to take one of those home with me! Our room also came with slippers and a feee mini bar with a few beers, chips, orange juice & water. I am not sure if the mini bar was a free perk to our credit card, or if it is for all guests, but it was nice to have at no cost to us. Right before dinner, the maid knocked on the door and brought us a tiny plate with two fresh macaroons on it... what a cue and delicious little pre dinner treat! The best thing about Grand Hotel Central is the rooftop bar & infinity pool. It has an amazing view of the city, even beautiful at night. I highly recommend checking out the roof top for a dip in the pool and a drink at night. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to travelers going to Barcelona. It is very expensive, but worth the money in my opinion! Thank you to Grand Hotel Central for a great experience in Barcelona! We will return.

Yelp
The staff is extremely friendly and understanding with language barrier. The accommodation are great. The room has a/c and clean. The view from the room was excellent. The rooftop bar and pool has a wonderful view and it's fun. Thank you for a great experience in Barcelona.

Yelp
We loved our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel in Barcelona. It's central to shops and restaurants which is nice since the city is very walkable. The rooftop infinity pool and bar offer stunning views of the city. The rooms are modern and have a free mini bar with local drinks and snacks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love the cool boutique vibe of the place, located just a few blocks from the cathedral. And did you see the pool on the roof?! There is no better way to recover from a long day in the city than with a drink and dip in the pool. The room was a bit small, but not unusual for a major city in Europe. It was very comfortable and well appointed: overall, a first rate hotel in the center of the city.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. The checkin was seamless and they were very accommodating with getting us a room at 9am despite the 2pm checkin time. Room was decent size with normal king size bed. Not 2 twins pushed together as I experienced elsewhere. Free drinks and snacks in the room. Coming in at 9am, I was so pleased to be able to take a nap in an extremely comfortable bed. Once we lowered the black out shades, room was perfectly pitched black!! Decent well equipped gym for its small size. We had an early flight and didn't get to try the breakfast. But had a coffee and tea in the adjoining cafe - great service. Will stay here again the next time I'm in Barcelona.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at Grand Hotel Central. The concierge service was very helpful with booking us two dinners during our stay. The front desk was wonderful with tips and directions. The bellmen were awesome with getting us cabs and sending us in the right direction. We felt we were treated so well during our stay. The rooms are more typical of a 3.5-4 star hotel. Loved the location!!!
google avatar

Jens W.

Yelp
Very central, really nice location and all major sites are in walking distance. Try to get the rooms at the rear of the hotel as it is less noisy. Stuff is very friendly and speak English if needed. Wifi is provided and pass code allows up to two devices and 24 hours cost 5€. The hotel does not only have a superb restaurant which starts serving at 20.30 but also has a cafe/bar. Be aware though that can be booked for private functions. One thing I am not a favourite of is the nespresso machine coffee. I prefer "real" coffee. Definitely recommend

Yelp
In my 1000 nights of hotel stays, this must be one of the absolute worst hotels I've ever had the displeasure of staying at, and having just checked in from the W Barcelona it's like putting salt on a wound. Literally feeling the pain right now. Let's start with the accommodations. The king bed is 2 twins smashed together and held with 2 cables. The bedding is thin enough that you actually FEEL the cables. The sheets are stained. The bathroom does not have a scale. The TV is so old that it takes 30+ seconds to turn on-- and this is not a joke, the bellhop even told me before hand because they must get so many complaints about the TV not working. The phone suffers from the same problem because you have to press a number and wait 2 seconds for it to dial it. Press again and so on. All services require 4 numbers at this hotel, so plan to wait. The phone further is so old that it crackles and sound cuts in and out. Please note that this is an upgraded room and I'm paying 400 Euros per night for it. The room overlooks the street and you can hear the street noise all day and night. This is Barcelona. There is no view though, so it's not like you're gaining one for the other. But the most insulting thing was the room service. I ordered a Caesar salad. The salad they brought had no cheese, no croutons, no romaine, no anchovies, and no Caesar dressing. Instead I got mixed greens with oil and vinegar. When I queried the hotel staff about the discrepancy between this a garden salad and a Caesar salad, I was told this is what they have... This is their Caesar salad. When I requested that they instead inform guests that they don't have this type of salad, it's a garden salad, the room service staff became quite defensive and belligerent. In the end they removed the charges, but the damage had been done. I will not be returning to this location ever again. Stay here at your own peril.

Yelp
This hotel was great.Stayed here for 3nights . It was clean , modern and the location is GREAT!! You cannot beat this location. The staff are fabulous . My only complaint was the roof top bar . It was over priced and busy and the service was poor. Don't bother to eat here at all.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service, went above & beyond for my USA party of 4. Beautiful amenities in the middle of city, close to restaurants & shops ~ rooftop bar, just beautiful ~ thank you Grand Hotel Central!

Yelp
My new wife and I were booked at another boutique hotel not far from here for a 4 night stay. We were on the second week of a two week honeymoon in Spain and by this point we really needed a break from the tiny boutique hotels of Europe. All the sight-seeing had caught up to us and arriving in the heart of bustling Barcelona on night one was an overwhelming experience. The first hotel was that typical Europen boutique hotel providing a tiny room overlooking a dark alleyway with people's laundry hung up throughout. "Charming" would probably be the best way to describe this hotel room. After spending half a day in Barcelona, I started yelping for a more upscale place to stay- this was our honeymoon after all and we desperately needed an upgrade. Grand Hotel Central turned out to be the perfect choice. Sandrine at the front desk was incredibly accommodating when two Americans walked in saying they had no reservations but would like a great room for the next 3 nights. She not only got us a great room but she was able to find a reasonable rate as well. We loved the room, the hotel felt modern and inviting at the same time. Best of all there was an infinity pool on the roof with gorgeous views of Barcelona! All in all, I think this is a great place to stay for first timers in Barcelona who want to stay central to the heart of the city but also want to escape within a nice hotel when necessary.

Yelp
This hotel was great, good location, great pool, wonderful breakfast with very good food, better food then most hotels even for the states, we had messages and they were good, the staff was great, very nice and helpful as our spanish was not great. The rooms was very quiet, we loved this hotel and recommend it to anyone going to Barcelona. At night we could walk to a wonderful local neighborhood around the corner with lots of very good restaurants. The only things that I did not like was the room was a little dark in decor, if you know what I mean, dark color walls. Not a big deal! A hidden gem if you ask me! Loved it!

Yelp
They have 5 stars, although I would describe them as good 4. Modern and elegant boutique hotel. Located in the very center of Barcelona, between the Gothic district close Cathedral and "el Born" district. It's a walking distance to all Barcelona main attractions: Las Ramblas, Placa Catalunya, Born district, shopping and even the beach. A little bit far from Sagrada Familia, but that one is far itself. The rooms are cozy, comfortable, spacious and contemporary decorated with a huge mirror standing on the floor. The mattress is soft and disposes to a good night sleep. Good that they have nice electric blinds and shutters, that help you to stay asleep after the sunrise. Bathrobes and slippers. From the infinity roof top swimming pool you can enjoy the greatest view, see the sunset and even the sea. It's really spectacular to observe the living city. By the way, the pool is pretty small itself, but after a walk around the town it's a pleasure to stay there for a while, relax and forget the chaos of big city downstairs. Buffet breakfast downstairs at the restaurant, not till 10 or 10:30am, but till 11:30am and till 12pm on Sunday. Lunch and dinner are served in their restaurant too, delicious Mediterranean cuisine. 24 hours room service, bar and a Sky bar at the roof top pool. Gym is pretty small as far as I remember, just a couple of cardio machines, kinesis and a space to stretch or short exercise. But enjoy your run along the beach, it's pretty close. You can get a massage too. They don't have SPA, but offer something like a Thermal suite that you should book in advance. We haven't tried it. When staying in Barcelona we always have other priorities and no time for massage at the hotel. They don't have their own parking, nor valet. That's a bummer if you have a car. They give you special rate to park in the close garage next to Cathedral. Still, it's not convenient go somewhere, if you have luggage with you. Free Wi-Fi.

Nice hotel with a charming bar on the roof (and a swimming pool aswell!). So far the staff has been kind and helpful. The rooms are ok. No complains except for the price of the minibar items, but I guess that's pretty standard in the hotel biz. Thumbs up!

Yelp
What a wonderful way to start our vacation. Upon our arrival we were greeted with graciousness and helpfulness. We felt very welcome and comfortable. Concierge got us into great restaurants, when the ones we wanted were booked. Got us Picasso Museum tickets so we didn't have to wait an hour in line. Our teen daughters Iphone got kicked into the pool (long story), but the man working at the pool bar, literally ran and got us rice to put her phone in. Had to leave his bar to help us. Just overall very kind, friendly staff...I would highly recommend this hotel. Plus we like modern, cool "W" type hotels. In a great location as well.

Yelp
Positive - great location and central to everything. The most helpful member of the staff here was the door man. He was awesome. Great recommendations on where to eat and how to get to places. Now the rest of the story - room was tiny for the price. Heard water or toilet flushing all night long. The concierge- on the rude and abrupt side but i attribute that to the fact that he is the only one and over worked. I have stayed at smaller hotels with 2 in service 24x7.

Yelp
Fantastic location except for the subway that apparently runs right under our room beautiful old historic building. Our room, 206, was on the street side because we chose the deluxe room with a "view'. The home team won the football game & everyone loves to celebrate their victory.

Yelp
I don't often review hotels but I have to say this is the worst experience I've had in 20 years. For a $400 euro a night fee I feel that I'm overpaying by 300. The hotel reminds me of a Marriott I stayed in in the late 90s. The wifi service is horrible. The fact that I constantly get disconnected and don't have enough band width to load images on social networking constantly. At the sky bar on the roof the food was horrible and not as described. As an example The chips with salsa were lays chips with a drizzle of sour cream, guacamole, and a chili sauce. I'm not sure where that qualifies as salsa. The bed is rather uncomfortable, and even though I'm on the 5th flood street noise is audible at all times of the day. I would recommend staying away from the room service as well. What they deliver doesn't match the expectation set by the name of the item and the best thing I can say about it was the flavor was at most bland. The only positive thing I can say is the hotel is centrally located. Tomorrow I will gladly go to a different hotel.

Yelp
Just got off a cruise ship that set sail from Rio De Janeiro to Barcelona. The cruise ship line Oceania made a reservation for us to spend four nights at the Grand Hotel Central, which my wife and I had never heard of! Uh Oh, that could be dangerous. Let me tell you that this has been without a doubt the best hotel experience that my wife and I have ever experienced out of all the great hotels that we have been privileged to stay at. Fantastic location in the middle of downtown Barcelona within walking distance of any and everything that you could possibly visit in four days. But what really mattered to us the most was the true quality of service that we experienced from the entire staff from the time we arrived until the time we left. The bartendress Emily, in the main bar and lounge was one of the most delightful and professional servers that I have ever encountered. She was truly a delight to be around. The sky bar staff was equally diligent and was very attentive to our every need. They made us feel like we were the only guests there. Isn't that how it's supposed to work? Let me tell you, it certainly worked that way for us when we were there. I seriously can't imagine anybody experiencing anything less that what we experienced there and we will be there again without a doubt the next time we come back to visit the lovely city of Barcelona. Adios mi amigos y mi amigas. We love you.

Yelp
I would recommend coming here for the Sky Bar. We did not stay at the hotel but the employee was nice enough to let us eat the Sky Bar even through we weren't residents( not sure this is common for most cases. ) The view was amazing! The pool was also beautiful. The food was pretty good. We ordered the Cheese Plate, Caprese Sandwich, and Side Salad. DO NOT order the side salad if you are expecting lettuce and veggies and dressing. It is a scallop/tuna/fish salad. Was great, just ordered 1 wrong thing. Everything else was good

Yelp
On the rooftop is an amazing poolside area, offering a great way to relax from a long week or even work in the sun over the roofs of Barcelona. Free Wifi available. Highly recommendable.

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights in a deluxe room. This hotel is good - no doubt about that. Excellent staff are a highlight. Rooms are pleasant, clean, reasonably well appointed. Bafflingly limited mini bar. Bed quite hard and unyielding. Synthetic pillows not to my taste but replaced immediately with feather ones. Efficient and quiet A/C. Sky Bar is another highlight but 16 Euros for a cocktail is a bit eye watering; I suppose it keeps the crowds away. City Bar was really quite good. Breakfast buffet also good but blighted by Nespresso (rather than fresh) coffee which is never hot I find. Would have avoided breakfast on the grounds of high cost were it not included in our deal. Would give 4 stars but the road noise in our 3rd floor room was a killer (slept very badly), and it's really expensive.

Yelp
I was so excited that we could stay at this hotel. We originally had three nights booked before our cruise. However we live in Tampa, Florida and are right in the path of Hurricane Irma. The airline has changed our flights three times due to the hurricane. I called today and told the hotel we needed to change our reservation. We will only be able to stay one night due to the airline and weather changes. They advised that there would be a 403 Euro penalty which I understood and was fine with. BUT they will count us as a no show AND they won't hold our room for the last night. So we had to cancel. Right now I am scared to death if my family and home are going be okay in the next 24 hours. It is really frustrating and only adds to our stress to also deal with a situation where the hotel won't work with you at all. It's too bad because the hotel looks amazing and we would have loved to stay there before our Med cruise celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Yelp
Cinco astras (five stars). Five stars for the service and staff. Five stars for the location. Five stars for the hotel itself. But I must give three stars for the rooms. The rooms are beautiful, however they are too trendy for their own good. They choose form over function in a big way. They have tiny little night stands just big enough for a little lamp, but absolutely no room to put ones personal items (watch, wallet, etc.). The bathroom was also beautiful and ultra-modern, but no basic, practical little touches like a hook or two to hang your towels on. All this aside, the Hotel Grand Central is an excellent choice for a visit to Barcelona. It's right in the heart of the action, close to Las Ramblas, great restaurants (like Arcaro, only 100 meters away), the cathedral is just across the street, and there's an excellent indoor food market right around the corner. High marks to the well trained staff who were able to help with tickets, transportation, and advice for first time visitors to the city. The rooftop bar and infinity-edge pool are spectacular, but unfortunately the weather prevented us from using those amenities. It must be a great spot on a nice summer evening. If you are looking for a great hotel in a great location, you will not be disappointed in the Hotel Grand Central. Gracias again to the wonderful staff for making my stay memorable!

Yelp
After my first two weeks in Europe - ever - we decided to book a nice hotel for our last two nights. Hotel Grand Central did not disappoint. (Mind you, we had stayed in lovely places for the length of our stay, just a little less 'high end'). The lobby is gorgeous. A newly remodeled building from the late 1800's or early 1900's - it has charm and swank. The rooms are small. But, they're beautiful. The large bathroom area alone takes up 1/3 of the room, but for just the two of us it was plenty of space. The window was a little small as well - but, it was adorned with wonderful shade options operable by remote control. Also, the lighting in the room was plentiful - as there were many lighting options to play with. And we did stay in one of the cheaper room options. The service was wonderful as well. We had a couple really wonderful experiences with the front of house staff - a lengthy conversation with a gentleman about Barcelona and it's history, he gave us some tips (as he was originally from Barcelona) on things that people may usually miss when visiting. After our conversation he then sent us an additional bottle of complimentary Cava - which now sits in my living room waiting for a special moment at home. We also had a great check in experience. However, upon check out we were over charged for Breakfast. When we mentioned it the front desk associate tried to convince us the charge was valid. We politely fought back and she reluctantly removed it. However, as we were leaving, another staff member took us aside, apologized and said that he believed that we were right and that he would inform the front desk associate. Nice gesture! Especially since I am pretty sure this guy was a part of the Valet staff. Way to clean up some one else's mess & leave us with a good taste instead of a sour one. The pool is why you stay at the hotel in the first place right? RIGHT! It's amazing. I can see how it could possibly get crowded - but, we did not experience that. The view is enough to require you wear sunglasses - as you sunbathe in the midst of Roman history. I couldn't close my eyes for more than a few minutes, as I couldn't believe what I was looking at. The pool was FREEZING - which was actually smart on the hotels part. It kept people from lingering in it for too long, which added to the serene feel of the rooftop. There were very well behaved children around, but this is not a place where children romp. It's quiet. And the cava is reasonable considering where you are and what you paid to stay there. The price is a bit high. But, worth splurging for at least 2 nights. Also the location is fantastic. a 5 minute walk from the romantic Gothic Quarter - A 5 minute walk from the swanky and vibrant El Born - and transit options a stones throw away.
