Just want to say a huge thank you to the staff. You assisted in everything and more when we stayed at your superb hotel. The rooms were wow, but it is the human interaction with the staff which really made our stay very special. Love the pool/ spa area- a salt wall!

Even with so many fabulous hotels from which to choose in Chamonix, the Grand Hôtel des Alpes is a pleasure worth every euro. It is perfectly located in the center of town (minutes from many restaurants and cafes), yet quiet. It is luxurious yet relaxed. The staff are professional and efficient, while still warm and friendly. The rooms are cozy and well-appointed. (Ours faced the river and mountains in the rear, which was wonderful.) Don't let a seemingly modest breakfast buffet fool you: there was a perfect range of options, changing daily, each incredibly fresh, vivid, and delicious - one of our favorite breakfasts in many travels (and, uncommonly, fairly priced for children). I can see why the Grand Hôtel des Alpes earns many repeat visitors. It's a treat.

Very happy! We stayed for just two nights in March 2025, on a quick stopover between big-city destinations. We had been to Chamonix previously in the summer, and were keen to see it during the snow season. The hotel is in a great location, in the hub of the dining and retail parts of the town, and within easy (albeit uphill in the case of the Brevent lift) walk of both the town's cable car stations. We had a Mont Blanc room, which had a balcony looking out over the Arve river and a sensational view of the mountains. Staff were very friendly, multi-lingual and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

Great hotel right in the middle of all the action in Chamonix. The hotel and rooms are clean, facility is well maintained, staff is very friendly and helpful, and great pool/spa amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to those visiting Chamonix. The rooms are small, but this is pretty standard in Europe. It didn’t detract from our experience one bit.

I’m beginning this with a disclaimer that we booked this through Amex Travel. In France; it seems it shows up as being booked through Expedia. Any seasoned traveler knows this can mean difficulty in your travel due to their policies. ||We had a very difficult time finding this hotel when we were driving in. I don’t think we received the initial email that the hotel sends prior to arrival due to booking through Amex travel. We called and it took quite some time, but we finally found the little sign and the parking garage. Francesca did everything in her power to ensure we found the hotel including walking out in the cold and guiding us into the garage as she learned we were trying to be on time for a massage appointment. She quickly had someone gather our luggage and whisked us away to tell us all the important notes. Throughout our stay, she did our best to address the adversity we faced.||The room was beautiful and the hotel is truly in the center of town near all restaurants. This seems good until you had an experience like we had. We returned to our room around 10pm and planned to have a restful night to be ready for our paragliding the next day. This was FAR from what happened. Being in the center of town means hearing ALL the people leave the bars. I initially called the reception around 12:15pm to ask if this was normal. The reception explained it was Thursday night, so this usually calmed down around 1:00am and he apologized. I again called at 2:00am because the noise CONTINUED and the reception said the police didn’t come and there was nothing that could be done about the noise. The last screen shot I took on my phone to properly notate how late it was that we couldn’t fall asleep due to noise was 3:15am. The next morning, we slept too late to have breakfast (again getting around 6 hours of sleep). The reception listened to our concerns but told us there was nothing they could do, they couldn’t move us as the hotel was fully booked. We were provided a set of earplugs and wished good luck for the coming night. Moving on to the second night, the noise wasn’t quite as bad but still loud. We stayed in Paris and it wasn’t as loud as it was in Chamonix. Essentially we were comped our parking fee and 2 beers. Truthfully, this doesn’t compensate for not resting 2 nights in a row in a 5 star hotel. ||This was THE hotel I was excited about for our trip. This was THE hotel I splurged on. This was THE place I was the most excited about for our trip and it turned out to be the worst stay. ||I am not an old person just being ornery. I am 29 years old, so when I say it was loud, I know I’m not exaggerating. If you want to REST during your stay, pick another location to stay at for $500/night or either require that they reserve your room for the river side of the hotel and it will hopefully be more quiet. When we return to Chamonix, we won’t stay here.

Delighted with the multi lingual reception staff who were super helpful and welcoming. Always attentive, and going that extra mile to help with any question.|Location of hotel is perfect right in the centre of Chamonix and within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops.|Great shuttle service from the hotel to the ski lifts too also provided. |Beds are comfortable and bed linen and towels changed daily.

From the moment we entered, it was perfect. The staff, the room, the decor, the cleanliness. The breakfast was excellent and the staff in the breakfast room was polite, personable and discreet. The afternoon tea actually goes all night, snacks constantly on the lobby table. More than helpful front desk, always making sure we knew exactly what we trying to do. We will certainly be back this summer.

Great trip to Chamonix. The hotel was outstanding - rooms well detailed, location to skiing was excellent, staff was very very helpful and friendly - driver was available to get the maximum time on the slopes - highly recommend staying here! Frenchie was an great host!

Yelp
COMPLETELY CATFISHED. The website is not an accurate display of what the property looks like. Management was aware that we were unhappy and they would not refund a penny of our $4,000 payment. The common areas, lobby, spa, bar, lounge, and ski lockers were one step above a youth hostel. Spa area needed prior reservation and only allowing 1 hour limit and only 8 people at a time, and that's even for the tiny "pool." Breakfast area was in the basement in a converted banquet like room with buffet table, sterile. Per se, Ski "locker" was small room in the parking garage, no heater. Staff was unaccommodating. I give 1 star because the room was extremely small but clean and tidy.

Yelp
TRAVELER BE WARE! WEBSITE NOT ACCURATE PORTRAYAL. arrived for a weeks stay and was very disappointed, had to switch hotels. the common space, restaurant for breakfast, and "bar" was subpar. the spa was reservation only, limited to 1 hour and only allowed 8 people at a time. the bathrooms were small and outdated. no amenities or pool/hot tub. we moved to hotel mont blanc, highly recommend this establishment. the only reason to the give grand hotel des alpes 1 star instead of zero is the central location.

Yelp
Given the price, location and an extremely helpful front desk, i rate it 4 stars. We stayed in the Mount Blanc Suite which was a true suite (separated room). Good mt view along with the river (can hear it as well). Only complaint is no AC which i know is relatively prevalent in the area. Keep in mind the '70's' given the elevation feels quite abit warmer and this was in June. They did give us a fan which helped. Restaurant wasn't in service this time of year (had breakfast but at 25 euro per, didn't do it). Great location though to everything else in walking distance. Spa area was nice, but the (very small) pool is completely indoor, no out-door pool.

Yelp
My fiance and I decided to book the Grand Hotel this year since we were able to stay for the minimum amount of days (which is normal in the winter) required to book. We rented a car from Geneva airport and drove to the hotel. Since the front of the hotel is on the pedestrian main street, we were directed to the underground (Batcave style) garage. We were met by the receptionists where she pointed out where to park. As we got out of the car, our bags were being unloaded and we were given a brief tour of the facilities as we made our way to the front desk, upstairs. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful! Francesca helped us book dinner reservations and arrange ski guides for the Valle Blanche. The room was spacious and very well appointed. It felt authentic without feeling old. The location of the hotel is right in the heart of Chamonix as well. There's also a locker room to store your skis/snowboards (each guest room has a locker) and a stand to dry your boots. The hotel also offers a shuttle to all the mountains and arranges to pick you up as well. All in all, this hotel is amazing! It's rates 4-Star, but I'd give it 5!
