"Three connected Victorian buildings above the Gulf of Naples, this 1834 family-owned property is lovely to return to after a day of sightseeing—to sit on the clifftop terrace and watch the lights come on over the bay. Rooms are designed in styles ranging from Pompeian to Victorian, with trompe l’oeil walls and parquet floors—not to mention verandas with views of Mount Vesuvius. Terrazza Bosquet serves gourmet dishes using ingredients from the hotel garden, but guests can always sip an elevated cocktail on Bar Vittoria’s terrace, overlooking the water. Or head to the Boutique Spa La Serra for a scrub or signature massage." - Jamie Spain

I have stayed at some of the worlds best hotels and have had some really amazing experiences but this is the only hotel that consistently delivers exceptional service. This hotel has it all, location, incredible food, comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, picturesque grounds, rich history, luxury & unsurpassed views but I keep coming back for the people. I don't know how they manage to hire so many warm, friendly and caring people who are totally invested in every guest's utmost happiness but they excel at it. Everyone you meet no matter their position - grounds keepers, front desk, bartenders, waiters, room stewards, security - they are all really happy and want to make sure you are really happy too. I have stayed at this magical hotel several times and the staff is always really friendly and accommodating. I unfortunately became ill with the flu while I was at this hotel on my last visit and I can honestly say, I was better cared for here than I would have been at home. I had the most comfortable bed with an amazing view, Corronado at the concierge called for the house doctor to visit me in my room, my room attendant Dora checked in on me regularly to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, Daniele in room service brought me food and extra hot water for tea and Pasqualino in the dining room made me the most amazing tea from fresh ginger and local lemons when he heard I was ill. This staff truly goes above and beyond whether you are at your best or worst they strive to make sure your visit is the absolute best it can be. This was the first time I visited this hotel during the Christmas season and the lights and decor literally took my breath away. I didn't think this property could get anymore beautiful but at Christmas it hits a whole new level. I have a long list of countries and cities I haven't visited but my stays at this hotel are so wonderful I keep coming back.

This hotel is superb. We return here every year because everything is so addictively outstanding - service quality, drinks quality, views from the terrace, location, Bosquet (which surely deserves more than its one star - we’ve been at far worse three stars), and our favourite hotel manager Tiziana who now welcomes us like family.||We got married here this year - Tiziana and the hotel completely exceeded our expectations. She thought of every detail and was on hand for every minute of the event. Food exceptional (a tasting menu for a wedding party). Wine endless and delicious. Service and set up faultless. Neither we nor our guests could quite believe how good it was. Many want to come back.||12/10 recommended - either for holiday or wedding.

The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria was awarded Travel & Leisures #1 best hotel in Italy and #7 in all of Europe recently. Magnificently appointed. Not a detail missed. Phenomenal food, including the amazing breakfast buffet with freshly made omellettes to order. The grounds are gorgeous. The sea view!! Service unparalleled. All right in the center of town, yet you don't hear town. The most beautiful hotel I've ever seen!! It comes with a hefty price tag, but worth it if you can.

Our Golden Wedding celebration has been enhanced by this lovely hotel. All the staff have friendly, attentive and caring. We were upgraded to a suite overlooking the harbour. We ate in the Michelin star restaurant and had wonderful taste’s dancing on our palate

Google
A breathtaking location with gorgeous accommodations. The beauty and history of the property can be felt in every part of the experience, from the picturesque entrance and driveway, to the dreamy lobby, commanding terrace and captivating stairways. We felt a warm welcome from the incredibly accommodating staff, from check-in to check out. The location is unbeatable for both the view and the walkability. Our room was gorgeous as were the private balconies—where we ultimately got engaged! We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend this property.

Had an amazing experience at this beautiful hotel! The staff was top notch and so friendly. The view was absolutely incredible. Perfect location near the busy city center but so quiet and intimate within the hotel grounds. Loved every minute of our stay here!

Google
For $1,000+ a night, we were expecting warm, inviting and attentive hospitality. We found the service abrupt and cold, as if we were passers through rather than guests (the exception being the concierge, who did remember our name). There was no one thing in particular, but we found ourselves searching for staff at the pool, at the entrance, at the restaurants for assistance rather than having staff present and looking for ways to help guide our experience. The food on the terrace was mediocre and overpriced (EUR 35 for a cocktail), though the drinks were quite good.

Google
Best hotel in Italy. We stayed there for our Wedding Anniversary. I have traveled the world on business but have never stayed in such a luxurious hotel with service that was second to none. The hotel is a true expression of the ownership and their long history with the facility. Looking forward to staying again.

Yelp
Everything about this hotel is exceptional! The location, every view from 360*, the old world feel, the attentive staff, the immaculate and impeccable hotel and gardens, the food, the unlimited activities available. It doesn't get better than this!

Yelp
I have learned from my extensive travels that there are five star hotels and then there are really five star hotels. This is a five star + hotel. From the moment you enter the incredible grounds , much like a walk-through a park , you are removed from the bustling crowds of Sorrento. Inside it feels like a beautiful old castle with antiques and art everywhere. The staff is professional, and then the Terrace with the most incredible view of the bay Naples. Even the housekeeping service is top notch.. the kind where everything is arranged perfectly the cords wrapped and even soft cushy mats laid next to the bed for your morning wake up.. And the buffet breakfast with everything imaginable; a beautiful setting complete with mirrored ceilings and a pianist playing lovely songs ahhhh Our large balcony was beyond fabulous. We watched the boats come in and out all day. I told my husband this was our new home. We would just stay here forever...

Yelp
What a beautiful view! While sailing on Crystal Cruise Line, after we left Rome, our first stop was Sorrento, Italy. We had arranged a private city tour. At the end, we had a lovely time on the patio of this beautiful hotel, Grand Hotel Excelsior Vitoria. It is positioned on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples, near the Mediterranean Sea. What a delightful time we had sipping champagne in this wonderful hotel on a perfectly beautiful afternoon. The hotels long history and amazing location surely make it a top destination in the Mediterranean.

Yelp
This review is for the bar only. My girlfriend and I were out strolling around town when I spotted the driveway and mentioned to her what a nice hotel I'd heard this was. We took a walk down their tree lit garden to the front door and stepped in for a drink. We quite literally had the entire hotel to ourselves. We sat outside after dark and enjoyed the loveliest service! We had a glass of Spumante and Prosecco accompanied by the most delightful little nibbles. We asked the bartender how many people were checked in this evening (off season) and he told us 8 total! We had such a nice, relaxing evening. I'd definitely recommend stopping in during the daytime for amazing views. As we left we spotted one of their 8 guests enjoying a drink at the bar :) there was something so satisfying about being in this gorgeous space when you could nearly hear a pin drop. Beautiful time!

Yelp
A beautiful hotel with breathtaking water views! Definitely a 5 star with excellent service from beginning to end. We enjoyed 4 nights at the Hotel Excelsior while we were on our honeymoon. We also stayed in Rome and Capri. This was by far our favorite hotel during our trip in Italy. When we arrived in Sorrento we were picked up at the boat marina and shuttled up the hill to the hotel. This saved us so much time and energy walking up the steep hills with our luggage. We later found out that their was an elevator off of the back patio that would take you to the water, that was very convenient! When we checked in at the hotel we were given a tour of everything and were excited for our stay. The pool was also amazing! Each night we would grab a drink on the patio before heading out somewhere for dinner. The drinks were perfect and I loved that they gave you a little food sampler each night with specials from the chef. This was by far a trip of a lifetime and we have to thank everyone at this spectacular hotel for making it the best experience possible!

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel!!! It was SO gorgeous inside and out!! AMAZING Michelin Star restaurant in the hotel and a great pool with even more good food! The people who work there were wonderful and so personable. Definitely a favorite and so memorable!!

Latifa S.

Yelp
Gorgeous!!! What do you do when you spend a month in Europe but didn't book a single hotel? You book it on the day of!!!! I was in Capri! Had a few days before visiting my family in Rome. Well making my way up anyway. It was either here, Amalfi or back to ischia. But decided to come back here when I saw the viewsss! First, the marina is wayyyy below! I walked up/too elevator. Even with one carry on, it was a hike. The castle like walls, the tiniest beach path! Pretty bumpy cobble stone walks! But this is right there! You can avoid going into the busiest spot of sorrento aka the cute little streets and tourists shops but staying here. I've stayed right in the middle last time, figured I'll try to save that extra 10 minutes walk! Worth it! Since I got a last minute hotel, they only had it for 2 nights. Moved to another one next door later. But the best part about this hotel: gorgeous roman décor! Old school! Older rooms= lower ceiling, gold, antique, art, charms! Colors! But great views! The breakfast on the patio is insane. Barely left the place! The pool was gorgeous too but I came pre pool season which June/July. It was nice for walks! The grounds are gorgeous. And you are away from the hustle just enough! You can go down to the marina for dinner. Or walk up to the main street. I enjoyed it so much, I stayed in/around here! Loved it!

Yelp
Nice hotel, , great Staff, great food. Very accommodating management staff. They aim to please.

Andrew D.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely terrible. The staff is so incredibly rude and unhelpful. The rooms are dirty. The food is awful. The maid came into my room 2x in a span of 10 minute before 7 am. My bed actually broke in the middle of the night. The hotel manager, Franco is completely unprofessional. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel.

Conna S.

Yelp
Stunning, exquisite, nostalgic, quintessential, elegant, delicious, glamorous, must-visit!

Isobel L.

Yelp
This gorgeous hotel is right in Sorrento's heart, but due to a charming, long avenue of trees beyond the smart wrought iron gates, once you arrive at the hotel building you feel very removed from the busy street. With one of the finest terraces in the town centre, it's ideal for a drink or a light bite overlooking the sea, with wonderful views of Vesuvius. The statues in the garden, the private tables and the elegant balustrades all add to the charm. The waiters are polite and un-intrusive and our after-dinner drinks were served in charming glass-wear. Ideal for a cocktail as part of a holiday treat, or a more substantial stay, this is a glorious, old-world hotel at the top of its game.

Yelp
We spent two lovely nights at the Excelsior Vittoria during our visit to Italy in April. This is a beautiful hotel with exquisite grounds and views. The charm and history of this grand gem are palpable! We most enjoyed strolling the long driveway that showcases incredible wisteria, a long rose archway, and more divine flora. The hotel bar and some rooms possess incredible views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. On a clear day, you can see the Isle of Capri, and if you're lucky, watch the sun dipping down behind it with a Limoncello in hand! And waking up to a view of Vesuvius is incredible! The hotel itself maintains an appearance of its era - with marble and ornate details throughout. The hospitality was wonderful too. A very special place to stay if you're visiting this area of the world!

Yelp
Italy is heaven and Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria sits at the gates. The views here are incredible. You can see the coast line underneath as it sits on the top of the mountain/hills that overlook the ports in Sorrento. The drinks and appetizers here were amazing for lunch and with their views nothing in the area could beat the peaceful and lush visuals. Check some of the pictures I took.

Yelp
This is one of the most beautiful spectacular gorgeous luxurious grandiose hotels I have ever been too. have stayed in world class hotels all over the world but this one is just great The burj el Arab used to be my favorite but I think the excelsior Victoria tops it all. From the art, design, location and immaculate service as soon as you walk in. Rooms are stunning . Located in the heart of sorento, it is close to great restaurants and busy night life. The hotel has a stunning garden/ courtyard which you have to drive through upon upon Arriving to the hotel. This place is absolutely breath taking. The service? Omg service is top notch the staff treats you like royalty. Totally recommend anyone visiting Naples- sorento to stay here. However It is very expensive but hey you get what you pay for. No regrets would come back in a heart beat.

Sarina V.

Yelp
Although I didn't stay at this hotel I found this place wandering around. You follow the road and garden right next to it which is also beautiful btw. I had to stop and have a drink and just take in the breathtaking views. They so give an assortment of chips, nuts & olives. Great place to just relax. I unfortunately just ate but it's a restaurant inside and outside so you can enjoy a bite as well.

Downton A.

Yelp
Wonderful, elegant and an excellent stay without feeling stuffy. The views are exquisite and you are in easy walking distance to the town's grand avenue of shops, cafes' and restaurants. The hotel staff are very friendly, genuine and helpful. This is a more pricey hotel but the experience is well worth it! If you've never been to this area of Italy, The Grand Excelsior Vittoria will give you that royal treatment, steeped in history and grandeur, that you've been dreaming of! The rooms are beautiful, very clean, crisp and well-appointed.

Izzat A.

Yelp
I've stayed lots of nice hotels around the world and this was absolutely the best. Not only is the hotel beautiful, the service is absolutely top notch. Located near the main strip of Sorrento. Absolutely loved the orange and lemon trees they have in their garden. Best views in Sorrento. Morning breakfast was excellent. Private elevator to the docks below. The room was huge and screamed old world charm. Yes, the hotel is very expensive, but honestly it's worth every dollar and then some. Staying here was the highlight of our entire trip to Italy.

Alexis J.

Yelp
5 stars for this 5 star hotel. Located smack dab in the middle of Sorrento. Beautiful garden, terrace views overlooking the Mediterranean and a wonderful staff. The Mr. and I were very pleased with their tranquil spa/couples massage room. Armando, Christian and Lorenzo helped make this stay for us an A++ Will recommend time and time again.
