With my bro and best mate we called here for a coffee late afternoon whilst on our motorbike tour. |We were amazed by the place. What a Brilliant building with loads of character . It was also reasonably priced. |The hosts Mark & Tobias and their team were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and so friendly. The food was first class. |The rooms were clean and comfy and authentic. Toilets and showers are separate which were also immaculately clean. Great atmosphere at this hotel. |Breakfast was also the best we had in ten days. The attention to detail and quality was impressive. |The views are great. |We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended .|

Our room was on the third floor and it was as dark as a cave up there. The shower room and toilets were newer and very clean. The room was spotless but was like taking a leap back in time. Not 10-20 years, closer to 50! No Wifi except in the restaurant area and even then it was spotty.||The positive is the location is just amazing! A++ for that!

We didn't stay here but stopped on our way to the Rhone Glacier, just for lunch/brunch. Lovely little church in the car park. Self service and very helpful staff, great English. Great food too, for a light lunch- hopefully the bigger meals were also good. Much better quality and value than the Belvedere (right by the glacier) which we have tried previously. We will stop here next time. Some wonderful cakes and gateaux.

I stayed at the Hotel Glacier du Rhone for one night during a hike I did in the area in July. I have no complaints at all. My room had everything one needs - the double door made me smile. Pristine clean toilets and shower rooms were just across the aisle. Even though I was facing the main road traffic slows considerably once the day tourists go home and during the night it was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.||I also had my tea there and I found the menu selection quite good and the service was excellent.||I used some of my free time in the afternoon to wander round the hotel - there are some paintings where you can see what the Rhone glacier looked like in the 17th century - and I thought that the whole place had a late 19th century ambience and somehow it reminded me of the Peace Hotel in Shanghai. All told I rather enjoyed my stay there and I am sure to stay there again when I am in the area.

The hotel is pretty much all of Glestch. Built in 1850 when the glacier was at its doorstep. Glacier has retreated to high crevices no longer visible from Gleatsch. Large imposing, building, only partially opened. Spartan room, shower and toilets were 50 meters from my room. I did enjoy my stay. Good breakfast and a good four course dinner. Nice brothers putting this all together with friendly staff. Good for one night.

The place needs some serious remodelling done but what's lacks in modern amenities such as Wifi is made up by a particular charme. It is like to go back to the end of 19th century beginning of 20th one. The room are spacious and sleeping conditions quite good. After a day long riding my motorcycle in the alps it was a welcome stop. No Tv, wifi or modern bath room was not a problem to me. The restaurant is ok and the breakfast quite good. Ok for one night stay.

This review is for the restaurant and not for the hotel. Gletsch has the wonderful distinction of being located at the base of 2 of Switzerland's major mountain passes, that are open only during the sommer months. We had just descended from the Furka Pass and before going up on the Grimsel Pass, we stopped in this small village at the Hotel Glacier du Rhone for a lunch bite. Obviously a lot of other people had the same idea on this sunny Sunday in mid-June, thus the parking lot was quite full but we managed to garner a spot for our car. The food was served buffet style, which was definitely the most effective way to handle the number of people present. Two of us helped ourselves from the enormous and well-stocked salad buffet, with a major on sausage and cheese salad and the other two had the Wienerschnitzel and the Veal Bratwurst. We all were quite happy with our choices and the quality of the food - though found that the prices were quite high, which was to be expected at this seasonal mountain location (altitude 1760m).

The Hotel Glacier du Rhône in Gletsch is a old historic Hotel, open seasonally in summer from late June to late September at the crossroads of the Grimsel and Furka summit roads and dates back to the mid 1800 when travelers by foot or horse carriage needed a place to rest and recover.||Today it offers the modern traveler still a cozy place to rest and recover from a day hiking or biking out in the fantastic and picturesque mountains and glaciers of this rural area.||The Hotel is still in its very traditional style with classic furniture but offers the basics of today’s minimal needs (toilets, showers, electricity, heating) mobile phone reception is available, but don’t expect WiFi or TV, but read some of the books and magazines available in the study’s library or relax by the wood fireplace. Some of the rooms have their own private bathroom, others have shared facilities. The main focus point is the large dining room where the guest can enjoy a fantastic very well maintained breakfast buffet with lots of local products like bread, diary, meat and delicious müesli , cereals and a selection of hot and cold drinks.||Dinner is also served in the dining room, either a la carte or as a set menu with a variety of local wines from the Wallis. Everything is served and taken care of by the very friendly and skilled staff and your hosts, the “Winkelmänner”
