I stayed at this hotel for two weeks and unfortunately the experience did not reflect what was advertised on the tour operator holidays website. We booked a sea-view room, but the view was extremely limited and nothing like the promotional photos. Our balcony overlooked construction debris, an unfinished building and a busy road, making it noisy and not enjoyable to sit outside. I have included photos so future guests know what to expect. When we raised this with reception the following morning (as we arrived late at night), we were told that because we booked close to our travel date and were staying for two weeks, it was “too difficult” to move us. They said it was a large family suite but that really did not compensate for the lacking view as we were just a couple. This was disappointing, especially given that the room clearly did not match the description we paid for. I would definitely avoid being put in one of these family rooms as a couple who want a reasonably sized room with a sea view. The condition of the hotel also varied noticeably by floor. The corridor on our level (4th floor) was very worn and dated (green and stained cream carpet, old paint work in photo), whereas the upper floors appeared to have been refurbished more recently (red carpet and newly painted). It gave the impression that some guests not booking direct receive a very different standards of accommodation I would make sure you get a room with a proper sea view on floor 5 or above.. Overall, the room did not match what was advertised and our concerns were not taken seriously by the hotel. After years of travel, this was one of the more disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. I hope the hotel reviews these issues and provides a more consistent standard for all guests in the future.

I love the Grand, we came back after a 10 year gap from our honeymoon. The hotel is perfectly placed, the breakfast is varied and generous. The only problem is the hardware, the hotel itself, is becoming tired and a tiny bit shabby in places. A wonderful place in need of investment.

What a lovely experience my wife and I had at the Gozo Hotel from the 6th to 9th December 2025. Beautiful Island, Hotel, and Staff. Service second to none, food was fantastic, hotel was immaculate. My wife has a food allergy and she was so well looked after. Will definitely be going back there. Many thanks to you all. Love Martin and Kay MacLeod.

The second time I'm here! And this time in the room of the elevated category that Super great!!! Honored hotel. Luxury bed, high quality White linen, lots of space, stunning bathroom bath, functional (HDMI connector) TV, cute balcony, flawless air conditioning. Super dinners in the menu! So for breakfast, watermelons not every day, coffee Beacon, but all necessary! Stop on, buses all over the island (2 euros). I'll be back again!

An Outstanding Stay at the Grand Hotel Gozo – Pure Island Magic Our recent trip to the Maltese Islands was unforgettable, but what truly elevated the entire experience was our stay at the Grand Hotel Gozo. Perched with breathtaking views over Mgarr Harbour and the Gozo Channel, this hotel doesn’t just offer a place to sleep – it feels like the warm, welcoming heart of the island itself. From the moment we arrived, the genuine hospitality shone through. A special mention must go to Vladimir at the front desk, whose infectious enthusiasm and spot-on recommendations shaped our entire itinerary. Whether it was the best hidden cove for swimming, a family-run restaurant serving lampuki pie that dreams are made of, or the perfect sunset spot at the Citadel, his suggestions were pure gold. He didn’t just point us in the right direction – he made us feel like honoured guests discovering Gozo for the first time. The staff throughout the hotel were equally wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble: seamless check-in after a late ferry, thoughtful touches in our sea-view room (including extra pillows and a welcome plate of local pastizzi), and daily housekeeping that was discreet yet impeccable. Every interaction – from the breakfast team remembering how we liked our coffee to the concierge arranging a private boat trip on short notice – felt personal and heartfelt. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and furnished with that perfect blend of modern comfort and Maltese character. Waking up to the sight of fishing boats bobbing in the harbour below and Comino in the distance was a daily highlight. The rooftop pool and terrace became our go-to spot for evening drinks as the sun dipped behind the hills – sheer bliss. In a destination filled with charming boutique properties, the Grand Hotel Gozo stands out not because it tries to be the flashiest, but because it nails the essentials with warmth and authenticity. It made our transition from the bustle of home to the relaxed rhythm of Gozo completely seamless and left us counting down the days until we can return. If you’re heading to Gozo, do yourself a favour and make the Grand Hotel your base. We’ve stayed in many lovely places across Malta and Gozo, but this one felt like coming home. Five stars isn’t enough – thank you, Vladimir and the entire team, for making our holiday truly special. We’ll be back soon!

We had a truly lovely stay at this charming hotel. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. A special mention goes to Yousef, who made our stay even better with his kindness and the great care he showed us throughout our visit.|Our room was very lovely, with a beautiful sea view that we enjoyed every day. The housekeeping team was friendly and attentive, especially the lady who cleaned our room daily and made sure everything was perfect.|We are very happy that Yousef has already booked us again for April, and we are truly looking forward to visiting the hotel once more.|A big thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable!

The Grand Hotel was probably grand many years ago. Today it is still an ok hotel, undergoing fairly extensive repairs on the upper floor and throughout the central/ left side. In several of the long passageway to various lifts, there is a distinctly damp smell. The recently upgraded pool is nice with excellent views. Our room when we arrived was behind the pool, with no view of the harbour, so we paid an additional fee to stay in a higher room. Better but the balcony was small and the 2 chairs were in a poor state. The rooms themselves are basically clean, but very old-fashioned, and the room telephones didn't work in either room. Breakfast was OK, but some of the staff are brusque and disinterested, others quite charming. As a result, we ate out most nights.

The hotel is dated but in a romantic way, we had a lovely view from our room. The only down sides we had was that our room 701 was very noisy, it sounded like a generator of some type going throughout the night. I did express this on my checkout. To be honest I am not sure that anything could be done about the noise other than some complimentary earplugs. The restaurant where they served breakfast had a few flies and was put off with a server zapping the flies above the food stations.
