Grand Hotel Imperiale Resort & SPA (Moltrasio, Lake Como) 16 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We love a hotel that reinvents its genre, but the classic Lake Como luxury-hotel experience is one that doesn’t exactly cry out for revision. Here in Moltrasio, a sleepy town on the western shore a short drive from the town of Como, you’ll find the Grand Hotel Imperiale Resort & Spa, a 1922 Art Nouveau gem that’s more than up to the task of delivering the archetypal Como holiday: an atmosphere of elegance, a spectacular setting, and comforts that are nothing if not restorative." - Tablet Hotels

I had the pleasure of photographing a couple at Grand Hotel Imperiale, and the experience was fantastic. The hotel offers a perfect mix of elegance and classic Lake Como charm. Beautiful lake views, stylish interiors, and a peaceful atmosphere make it an ideal setting for wedding photography. Would happily return anytime.

We had some great days at this hotel. The biggest asset is the near location to Como and the lake with a stunning pool. It’s a bit pricey but other than that we’d definitely like to return 👌🏻

I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Imperiale and I must say it was a truly exceptional experience. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and all the modern amenities you could ask for. But the real highlight of my stay was the breakfast. Oh, the breakfast! It was a sumptuous spread of fresh pastries, cheeses, meats, and eggs, all perfectly prepared and presented. The staff were attentive and friendly, refilling my plate with ease and answering any questions I had. The location of the hotel was also convenient, with easy access to public transportation and many local attractions within walking distance. Overall, I would highly recommend the Grand Hotel Imperiale to anyone looking for a comfortable and indulgent stay. The staff, rooms, and breakfast were all top-notch - I couldn't have asked for more!

This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The hotel is listed as a 4 star but it is more like a 2 star. I pre-paid for 3 days but I left after 2 and lost the money I paid. Pros: 1. location. It is 2 minutes walk to ferry and right off the lake with beautiful views. 2. The pool by the lake. Con: 1. The room is rundown with old furnishings. There are no decorations. The walls are bare with the exception of a TV that doesn’t work. 2. The TV doesn’t work. After traveling through Europe for 2 weeks, I came to Lake Como to relax and do nothing in beautiful surroundings. I was looking forward to lazying around in a beautiful hotel room watching TV. No such luck here. 3. The bathroom sink didn’t drain well. 4. The water temperature barely got above cold, so I could not enjoy even a hot shower. 5. There is no iron in the room. You have to go downstairs to the iron room to use an iron. Such an inconvenience. 6. Pricing. This place is expensive for no reason. From the nightly rate to food prices. They say, you get what you pay for. I paid for way more than I got. If you stay here, do be informed.

A vintage feel to the hotel and with old infrastructure and decor and you get a sense it has seen better days. Although the hotel has its own garage, charges are still levied if you have a car. The weather was not conducive for outdoor tennis, but the courts looked worn. The outdoor swimming pool by the lake would be fabulous in the summer. The staff are friendly and helpful (especially Violetta at the Concierge). We were told that the hotel is about to close for an extensive renovation and we look forward to coming back when it is completed — that should go quite a way to restoring the hotel to its former glory.

Unfortunately, our experience at the Grand Hotel Imperial was the worst of our 7-week vacation. The location was poor and far from the charm of central Lake Como, making it inconvenient for sightseeing or enjoying the area.||The hotel felt more like a business conference venue, and the arrival of busloads of cruise tourists made it extremely busy and chaotic. To make matters worse, the elevators were not working during our stay. Despite repeatedly asking staff to address the issue, nothing was done, which was incredibly frustrating.||Overall, this hotel did not meet expectations, and we would not recommend it for those seeking a relaxing or enjoyable stay in Lake Como.

I would never stay at this hotel again even if it was the only one in Como Italy.  It was very disappointing in so many ways.  This hotel is very outdated and the desk staff were rude. There was even one person behind the counter that rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a different room. We were informed there were no other rooms available with a shower (only a tub).  You couldn't pay me enough money to use a tub in this place.   It was obvious that our room hadn't been cleaned in a while.  I'm sure at some point it was but we are guessing it hadn't been used since it was cleaned because there was a lot of dust, a long black hair on the phone, lightbulbs(2) out in the bathroom.  The view (which we were told when we checked in was beautiful) was nothing short of terrible.  Don't be fooled by the photos on the website.  Anyone can make a place look good with photography.  The beautiful view from the balcony on their main website was only seen from one corner of the facility and it must have been a suite.  All of the photos posted on their website are definitely not a true representation of what you should expect.   In speaking with others on our tour it seemed they were also disappointed with this facility. Our room was at the very end of the hallway and very undesirable.  The windows in the hallway were either too short or too tall to see out of them.  The restaurant was so overpriced and the food was terrible.  We ordered a caesar salad, bowl of minestrone soup, bottle of water, cup of coffee - it cost 73 euros (12 euros for a service charge which we were told was for the napkins, setting up the table, etc.) and the lighting in the restaurant was really bad - you could hardly see (not to mention the hideous pink walls).  I really can't say anything positive about this hotel except that we did discover a wonderful restaurant next door which was family owned and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.  There are no shops or much of anything to do in that area.  You will be very disappointed if you are expecting a place that looks like the photos on their website, not to mention luxury (as they also claim).

One of the best premium luxury suites and resorts in Como, Italy with direct access to the lake and country side as well. Options of both outdoor and indoor dining along with room service. The resort has an antique regal touch with a bit of modern flavour as well. We had a pleasant stay here and would highly recommend it for short stays. The food was amazing as well with a variety of restaurant options to choose from. Highly recommended.
